  • Using Visual Studio to create web application in Sharepoint 2010

    Hello, I am looking for pointers, examples, etc. to create a basic application in sharepoint 2010 using visual studio. The application would show a list on page 1 (driven by linq entities). When you click a row, it shows a details page. I've gone through the tutorials but could not find a basic crud-like example as explained above. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I missed something in one of the tutorials, please let me know. To summarize, in a very generic way; I am looking for information on how to display two web application pages and have the user click a link or control to move through pages. Regards, Bryan

  • Which technology(s) / language(s) to write linux web application/service? [closed]

    I am currently playing with some open source home automation software www.domotiga.nl The software is built in Gambas2 (a graphical programming language similar to visual basic). I am considering building something similar or porting domotiga to a server based application/service. The application would need a web front end and i will likely be developing in debian (arm). But i'm not sure if php or python are suitable for server based applications which need to be always running (collecting data etc) rather than just running when accessed. Which technology(s) / language(s) would you suggest i look into? I used to do a lot of Visual Basic, then VB.NET, now C# and have played with php a few years back- but don't really want this to sway the decision too much as i should be able to pickup whatever language if i decide to proceed.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

  • Python OpenGL Can't Redraw Scene

    I'm getting started with OpenGL and shaders using GLUT and PyOpenGL. I can draw a basic scene but for some reason I can't get it to update. E.g. any changes I make during idle(), display(), or reshape() are not reflected.   • ideas for simple objects for day to day web-dev use?

    Dang-I know this is a subjective question so will probably get booted off/locked, but I'll try anyway, because I don't know where else to ask (feel free to point me to a better place to ask this!) I'm just wrapping my head around oop with PHP, but I'm still not using frameworks or anything. I'd like to create several small simple objects that I could use in my own websites to better get a feel for them. Can anyone recommend a list or a resource that could point me to say 10 day-to-day objects that people would use in basic websites? The reason I'm asking is because I'm confusing myself a bit. For example, I was thinking of a "database connection" object, but then I'm just thinking that is just a function, and not really an "object"?? So the question is: What are some examples of objects used in basic PHP websites (not including "shopping cart" type websites) Thanks!

    I want to use Originate API of Asterisk to place an outbound call on a FXO channel, for testing purpose I am using X100P card and, as expected, card is not able to detect if the number is busy/ringing or when it is answered. I want to know which card should I use so that I can get such basic events ... I am not really interested in detailed call progress analysis for answering machine or live voice. I just need basic busy/ringing and answer events and maybe a dis-connect event. Thanks.

    Hi, This is my first time building a website and using CodeIgniter for a school project. I was wondering whether you have any tips on uploading CI to a free web host , my database, free webhosting and basic security tips. Can I just upload the entire CI folder? Or do I have to upload individual files (God no!)? What are my options? What about my MySQL database - do I just upload my mysqldump to the webhost? Also, can you recommend a good free webhost. I was thinking about 000webhost. Any basic tips on security would also be appreciated (I've implemented many of the form_validation rules like xss_clean for starters) Any other suggestions will be more than welcome. Thanks!

  • Creating a Dynamic calendar in Silverlight

    I am attempting to create a long range calendar that dynamically loads (and unloads) event data as the user scrolls left or right through time. I'm really struggling to figure out how to lay the basic framework of the UI out and how to dynamically build the interface as the user scrolls by clicking and dragging the mouse in the view area. See the image below for a basic diagram of the intent. Each slice would have potentially multiple rectangles in it for events that occurred on that day (slice). I would like each slice to be a canvas to allow me to position those rectangles appropriately. There are a few problems that I am not yet sure how to tackle but this is the first big one that I've been mulling over for a while and can't quite wrap my head around: I know how to dynamically create controls but how would I go about adding things to one end of the scrollable content while removing things from the other depending on the way the user is scrolling? Any guidance in the right direction would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Im just trying to do a very basic search query in Codeigniter, but for some reason, the results are ignoring my "status = published" request... The code is: $this->db->like('title', $term); $this->db->or_like('tags', $term); $data['results'] = $this->db->get_where('resources', array('status' => 'published')); And this dosent work either: $this->db->like('title', $term); $this->db->or_like('tags', $term); $this->db->where('status', 'published'); $data['results'] = $this->db->get('resources'); Im sure its something basic? Help please?

  • strcat() won't exit

    I'm trying to implement a very basic server in C, one part of which is constructing HTTP headers. To do this I have written a class called header_builder, which basically constructs the headers for me. One of the most basic methods of this class is append_header_line, shown below: void append_header_line( const char *line, char *hdr ) { printf("Adding header line\n"); strcat( hdr, line ); printf("Line added. Adding ending.\n"); strcat( hdr, "\r\n" ); printf("Success\n"); } All it's supposed to do is tack the "line" parameter onto the end of the "hdr" parameter, and then add "\r\n" to the end of it all. The problem is that the first strcat call never exits. When I run this code, all it does is say: Adding header line Which means that the following lines never execute, and I can't figure out why. Any thoughts?

    Hi all, I need to develop a basic web app very quickly (1 week) for a demo. My requirements are Java (I need to make use of existing Java libraries to access the relevant data) 2 screens One for static data view, maybe some search parameters Other for basic form entry No fancy AJAX required Ideally easy for a web designer to come in and tart it up as necessary, without having to rewrite everything My first stop was going to be to checkout Wicket as I've heard good things about it. I don't have the time right now to dive into anything heavy, which probably writes off JSF in my mind (I played with JSF1, steep learning curve which I've now slid back down). I'm happy to treat the result as throwaway so if there's a framework which starts of well but then doesn't scale up to bigger projects, that would be ok. Any suggestions appreciated on frameworks/approach.

According to Microsoft's "It just works policy" the IDE is no longer supported after april 8th 2008 It still works to develop and deploy vb 6 apps. The question is: When will it be impossible to support vb6 applications, or will they live forever like Cobol applications do? Update: Microsoft statement march 2010: The Visual Basic team is committed to “It Just Works” compatibility for Visual Basic 6.0 applications on Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 including R2, and Windows 7.

    I am pretty new to rails and basically I want to make a user registration form. I am currently using rails 3.2.3 Basically I want to make basic routes like user/register on top of basic REST route for user. Here are my routes.rb resources :user do collection do get 'register' end end And here are my rake routes: register_user_index GET /user/register(.:format) user#register user_index GET /user(.:format) user#index POST /user(.:format) user#create new_user GET /user/new(.:format) user#new edit_user GET /user/:id/edit(.:format) user#edit user GET /user/:id(.:format) user#show PUT /user/:id(.:format) user#update DELETE /user/:id(.:format) user#destroy From my understanding, since register user is on top of show, it should match with register first before going to show. However, when I try to do localhost:3000/user/register, it gives me this error: No route matches {:action="show", :controller="user"} Can somebody help me with this? Thanks!!

Instead, it seems to be a 'cache' mechanism which repopulate the credential and cancel my logout ...     hi, I have a basic IDE for a user control i am building. It allows me to add labels to a panel and move them around, like a very basic form designer. When I add the controls to the panel at runtime, I'd like to give the control a unique name string like how the VS IDE tracks the controls it already has and adds an extra number when it creates the default control name. I have tried checking the controls collection each time a new control is added, but wasnt sure if there was a good string comparison method to return a name with a unique number on the end that hasn't been used yet.

    I have a project which have completed the basic models(at master), then I commit them. Then I create two branchs user and product using: git checkout -b user git checkout -b product git checkout user Then I add the codes in the user branch, but I found that I have to make some changes for the basic models. Then I switch to master: git checkout master But I found that the modification I made in the user branch is visible in the working directory now. How to avoid this? Since the change to master and modification will be frequency.

    Next term, I'll need to write a basic operating system for Motorola 68K processor as part of a course lab material. Is there a Linux emulator of a basic hardware setup with that processor? So my partners and I can debug quicker on our computers instead of physically restarting the board and stuff. Is it possible to apply test-driven development technique to OS development?     I want to do basic WPF graphics, i.e. rectangles, lines, circles and text. When should I use Drawing and when should I use a DrawingVisual? I have some code that uses Drawing and I render those to a DrawingImage and display that in an image control. Is this the right way? I could not see how to add text to a drawing. I had trouble positioning it too. Should I be rendering to a Canvas? I have some code that uses DrawingVisual and writes to a DrawingContext. That is like WinForms. Is this the recommended way? Do you have any high level advice on which APIs to use for basic graphics and labels? Will they options work on Silver Light and Desktop?

Now that I have a better understanding of the different frameworks, I have a very simple question: With a basic understanding, but very limited experience with writing tests with rails' built in testing framework (basic assertions), would it be okay for me to jump directly to testing with RSpec, Webrat, and Cucamber?
