• Best way to utilise an include file which just includes an array in PHP

  Kohana's config files look like this.. here is an example of a database config file (simplified) return array( 'dbhost' => 'localhost', 'user' => 'Tom_Jones' ); I've also got a CMS which wants the connection details. Whilst the CMS uses a different user (with more rights), I'd like to know the best way to include this file and get the data out of it (so as to not repeat myself for hostname and dbname). I haven't thought up of any elegant solutions yet and have not yet dug around Kohana to see how it does it. It's late Friday here so it's probably really obvious to everyone except me. UPDATE My apologies, I forgot to include that this is using Kohana 3!

  We have a list of questions in a MySQL database and want it to show a random approved question to the user. When you click the Random button, we want another random question to be shown, but not any of the ones the user has already seen. • Problem connecting to remote mysql database

  I am trying to connect to a mysql db on a shared server. I am using a java application to make the connection. Problem doesn't happen when I connect to localhost db. • In the context of an asp.net website, what's the most efficient way to check whether a User has acce

  I have a webpage that you pass in an id parameter (via a querystring), which it then uses to fetch data from a database. Typically, a user would navigate to this page from another page that lists only those records that the user has access to. However, if they go directly to the page by typing in the URL in the Address Bar, they can effectively view any record they like. Eg. If they were to type something like http://localhost/TestSite/ClientAdmin/ManageLocation.aspx?LocationID=5 into their Address Bar, they can access the database record with the LocationID equal to five - even though they shouldn't have access to it. Now, I could solve this by doing a database check every time the page is loaded to see whether the current user has access to the record they're trying to view. However this doesn't seem very efficient given that in most cases a user won't be trying to access a record that isn't theirs. Does anyone have a better suggestion? Thanks.

  I just finished the "15 min Blog Post tutorial" included in the documentation for cakephp. I was asked for another tutorial to change the layout for first tutorial. However, I am fairly new to MVC programming/Cakephp and I have no real clue how to do so. Well, I know I need "default.ctp" placed in app/views/layouts/ and I presume I need to include to include my data? . . . I am really at a loss of what to do. I set up my default.ctp as I mentioned above, but when I go to localhost:9999/posts the layout is still the same. I guess I need to include a stylesheet (and if so, where?) I guess if someone can point me in the right direction to a beginner's guide to layout styling or how to use it I would greatly appreciate any help.

  Hi, i am new to servlets. I made a simple hello world programme that prints those famous 2 words to the screen when i access the page via a browser using http://localhost:8080/mypath/path... My question is now, how do i provide a servlet with information? Specifically considering the fact that my c# programme calculates a lookup value for a global system, then the "java" servlet processes that and returns a set of results. I have done the reverse thanks to help on here, regarding calling a returned string from the java servlet in c#. However i am not sure how i go about providing the servlet information. Do i pass it via the url? Thank you

• Shell Prompt Line Wrapping Issue

  I've done something to break my Bash Shell Prompt in OS X (10.5.7) Terminal. This is the PS1 that I had configured: PS1='\[\e[1;32m\]\h\[\e[0m\]:\[\e[1;34m\]\w\[\e[0m\]\$ ' As far as I can tell I have the color commands escaping correctly. However when I scroll up and down in my command history I often get line wrapping issues if the historic commands wrap onto multiple lines. I simplified my prompts to the following: PS1='\[\e[1m\]\h:\w\$ \[\e[0m\]' PS2='> ' And I still see something like: localhost:~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/knpmxpup.Defau lt/extensions/{1A2D0EC4-75F5-4c91-89C4-3656F6E44B68}$ expocd \{1A2D0EC4-7 5F5-4c91-89C4-3656F6E export PS1="\[ \e[1;32m\]\h\[\e[0m\]: cd Library/Appl ication\ Support/ I've also tried \033 instead of \e. • How can I pass in specific parameters to mstest in Visual Studio

  I'm trying to modify my test projuect to allow for remote invocation of an api we're building. Right now the tests are hard coded to run locally(against localhost), but I would like to be able to point the tests at any endpoint (even remote ones in production). Ideally there would be a place in the .testsettings for config values to be stored. Sadly this isn't the case. Or, being able to pass parameters to MSTest that the test would read...? Any ideas?   Hi everyone, When trying memcache:get, I'll get the following error message back: Message: Memcache::get() [memcache.get]: Server localhost (tcp 11211) failed with: Failed reading line from stream (0) I run a Windows 32bit test environment (XP) and here's how my code looks: function getMulti(array $keys) { $items = $this->memcache->get($keys); return $items; } My memcache servers are two local computers in the LAN that my dev. environment is connected to. • Jquery mobile function calls before Ajax Request end

When My Home page shows, I call the LoadUser functions, which on success, sets the globalUser variable with the returned json, and after it loads I call the alert function but it says globalUser is undefined. I have tried many other work arounds, but I always get the undefined mesage.   I am trying to set up Google App Engine unit testing for my web application. I downloaded the file from here. I followed the instructions in the readmen by copying the directory gaeunit into the directory with the rest of my apps and registering 'gaeunit' in settings.py. This didn't seem sufficient to actually get things going. I also stuck url('^test(.*)', include('gaeunit.urls')) into my urls.py file. When I go to the url http://localhost:8000/test, I get the following error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '../../gaeunit/test' Any suggestions? I'm not sure what I've done wrong. Thanks!

  Hi: My program uses sockets for inter-process communication. There is one server listening on a socket port(B) on localhost waiting for a list of TCP clients to connect. And on the other end of the server is another a socket(A) that sends out data to internet. The server is designed to take everything the TCP clients send him and forward to a server on the internet. My question is if two of the TCP clients happened to send data at the same time, is this going to be a problem for the server's outgoing socket(A)? Thanks

• jsjac openfire chat issue

  I am trying to use openFire + jsjac for my application as chat option. I have installed openfire in my local machine and it is running fine on http://127.0.0.1:4040/ and i have downloaded jsjac version 1-3-4. 1) when I run sampleClient.html file directly [URL: C:\tomcat\webapps\jsjac\examples\simpleclient.html] I am able to connect sampleClient with openFire. Select Http Binding http Base : http://127.0.0.1:7070/http-bind/ jabber server : 127.0.0.1 username : admin password : ** 2) But when I put jsjac folder in tomcat/webapps/ directory, I access sampleClient through http://127.0.0.1:8080/jsjac/examples/sampleClient.html, at that time using above setting (which i have used in step 1) it is giving error "Service unavailable". In step 1 when though I am connected with openFire, when I send a message it displays only "message received from admin@localhost", but it does not display the actual message.. I need your advice on these problems... Thanks.

  I wrote a custom resolver class. It works OK for resolving SYSTEM DTDs, but not for resolving PUBLIC DTDs. When the class has to resolve PUBLIC DTDs instead of the URI of the resource, the function receives the public identifier through the absoluteUri parameter of the GetEntity function. Is there a solution to this. In examples: if I have a DTD declaration like <!DOCTYPE document SYSTEM "document.dtd"> then the custom resolver correctly receives the string "document.dtd" through the absoluteUri parameter of the GetEntity function. if I have a DTD declaration like <!DOCTYPE document PUBLIC "-//Organization//DTD Document 1.0//EN" "http://localhost/document.dtd"> then the custom resolver incorrectly receives the string "-//Organization//DTD Document 1.0//EN" instead of "scheme://host/document.dtd".

• Empty files generated from running `mysqldump` using PHP

  I keep getting empty files generated from running $command = 'mysqldump --opt -h localhost -u username -p \'password\' dbname > \'backup 2009-04-15 09-57-13.sql\''; command($command); Anyone know what might be causing this? My password has strange characters in it, but works fine with connecting to the db. I've ran exec($command, $return) and outputted the $return array and it is finding the command. I've also ran it with mysqldump > file.sql and the file contains Usage: mysqldump [OPTIONS] database [tables] OR mysqldump [OPTIONS] --databases [OPTIONS] DB1 [DB2 DB3...] OR mysqldump [OPTIONS] --all-databases [OPTIONS] For more options, use mysqldump --help So it would seem like the command is working.
