  • jQuery.data() works in Mac OS WebKit, but not on iPhone OS?

    I'm playing around with jQTouch for an iPhone OS app that I've been toying with off and on for a while. I wanted to try my hand building it as a web app so I started playing with jQTouch. For reference, here is the page+source (all my code is currently in index.html so you can just "View Source" to see it all): http://rpj.me/doughapp.com/wd/ Essentially, I'm trying to save pertinent JSON objects retrieved from Google Local into DOM objects using the data() method (in this example, obj is the Google Local object): $('#locPane').data('selected', obj); then later (in a different "pane"), retrieving that object to be used: $('#locPane').bind('pageAnimationEnd', function(e, inf) { var selobj = $(this).data('selected'); // use 'selobj' here ... } In Chromium and Safari on the desktop OS (Snow Leopard in my case), this works perfectly (try it out). However, the same code returns undefined for the call to $(this).data('selected') in the second snippet above. I've also tried $('#' + e.target.id).data('selected') and even the naive $('#locPane').data('selected'). All variants return undefined in the iPhone OS version of WebKit, but not on the desktop. Interestingly, the running this on Mobile Safari in the iPhone Simulator fails as well. If you look at the full source, you'll see that I even try to save this object into my global jQTouch object (named jqt in my code). This, too, fails on the mobile platform. Has anyone else ever ran into this? I'll admit to not being a web/javascript programmer by trade, so if I'm making an idiot's error please call me out on it.   • What is the flag to show the nesting of views in a Mac app?

    I have just spet the last few hours trying to find the flag to use in Terminal to launch an app with the colored outlines around the various view elements to show how they are nested. I know that Matt Gemmell covered it during the Cocoa Face Off session of NSConference 2009 (at about the 13minute mark in the video). Unfortunately I can't actually read what he types and he doesn't speak the exact command. I know it has to be in the Apple docs somewhere but the search system is currently not being of any use. It looks like her just adds -showAllViews YES to the end of the command to open TextEdit but that command has no effect in 10.6.6. I have also tried every other capitalization I can think of as well as using view instead of views. Every command opens TextEdit just fine but doesn't show the colored outlines.

  • How do I delete folders in bash after successful copy (Mac OSX)?

    Hello! I recently created my first bash script, and I am having problems perfecting it's operation. I am trying to copy certain folders from one local drive, to a network drive. I am having the problem of deleting folders once they are copied over, well and also really verifying that they were copied over). Is there a better way to try to delete folders after rsync is done copying? I was trying to exclude the live tv buffer folder, but really, I can blow it away without consequence if need be.   • Silverlight + Facebook DTK API -> SecurityException ONLY on Mac and Firefox...

    I have a SilverLight application which throws a security exception when running on FireFox for Macs. The exact same application works fine on Windows (Internet Explorer, FireFox, Chrome, Opera) and on Safari for Macs. I am using the Facebook Developer Toolkit available on Codeplex. The exception is thrown when the user launches the App. At that time I use the SilverLight Facebook API to run some queries using: facebookAPI.Fql.MultiqueryAsync(queries, QueryAppUsersCompleted, dispatcher); In my callback function QueryAppUsersCompleted, the FacebookException does not evaluate to null, and its innerException property has a SecurityException in it. Any help would be tremendously appreciated.

  • Mac OS X Lion no longer recognizes environment.plist?

    Just installed Lion today and my PATH env variable is no longer being set by ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist. Did something change? Can't seem to find any info on that or how to fix. Any ideas? That will proliferate when in need for another "Critical" class that just adds some other property. Does this feel right to you? How could I refactor such code? I love LAME but It is realy biiig. so I need some kind of OpenSource working from pure code with pure lame code workflow simplifier. So to say I give it File with PCM and DEST file. Call something like LameSimple.ToMP3(file with PCM, File with MP3 , 44100, 16, MP3, VBR); ore such thing in 4 - 5 lines (examples ofcourse should exist) and I have vhat I needed It should be light, simple, powerfool, opensource, crossplatform. Is there any thing like this?!?

  • Trying to get codeblocks working on Mac, running Lion. Can't get the compiler set up properly

    First off, sorry if this is a stupid question. I installed code::blocks to try and get to know the program and start working on teaching myself c++. I have a MacBook Pro with OS 10.7.3. I ave code::blocks 10.05. When I try to build a "Hello world" nothing happens. Based on some googling I've figured out that it's because code::blocks doesn't know where to find the debugger/compiler. Further googling yielded me this page which tells me to install Xcode and to fix some things in the code::blocks settings. However, this wiki obviously has not been updated since Apple went to the App store, because the file paths it gives for the compiler do not exist (there is no /Developer/* even after installing Xcode). Xcode 4.3.2 was already installed when I installed code::blocks and code::blocks "auto-detected" several compilers. They did not work. If anyone knows where Xcode hides its compilers now that Apple has moved to the app store, I would be much obliged.

  • How do I use JDK 7 on Mac OSX?

    OK. This is a newbie question but I can't figure it out... I would like to use the WatchService API as mentioned in this link: http://download.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/essential/io/notification.html After reading around, I found out that WatchService is part of the NIO class which is scheduled for JDK 7. So, it is in beta form. It's fine. http://jdk7.java.net/download.html has the JDK which I downloaded and extracted. I got a bunch of folders. I don't know what to do with them. Then, I read around some more and found that some nice group of people created JDK 7 as a binary so someone like me can install it easily. It is called Open JDK: http://code.google.com/p/openjdk-osx-build/ So, I downloaded the .dmg file and instal it. Then I open "Java Preference" and see that OpenJDK7 is available. So, now I feel that I can start trying out WatchService API. From the tutorial in the first link, the author gave a .java file to test it out first and make sure that it is running. Here is the link to the file: http://download.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/essential/io/examples/WatchDir.java So, I boot up Eclipse (actually I use STS) and create a new Java project and choose JaveSE-1.7 in the "use an execution environment JRE:". Under the src folder, I copy pasted the WatchDir.java file. And I still see tons of squiggly red lines. All the "import.java.nio.*" are all red and I cannot run it as a Java app. If you read this far, thanks a lot. So, now... What do I need to do? Thanks. EDIT: I actually did not pursue using Java 7 but there are a lot of interest in it and it seems like people keep answering this question.   • I suspect I have multiple version of Python 2.6 installed on Mac OS X 10.6.3; how do I set which one

    When I enter in python in Terminal it loads up Python 2.6.2. However there are folders by the name of Python 2.6 in different places on my drive. I'm not sure if that's because Python 2.6 has been installed in different places or because Python just likes to have lots of folers in different places. If there are multiple installations, I could really do with being able to set which one should be used.

  • What binary architectures should be cross-compiled when building Mac OS X packages?

    Currently, Apple's native binaries and libraries are distributed as fat files, with support for both i386 and x86_64 architectures. The SDK (Xcode 4.4 w/ command line tools) doesn't support cross-compiling powerpc binaries any more, so they can be safely ignored I think, but there doesn't seem to be any specific guidelines or recommendations about which Intel architectures to support. So, when compiling code for distribution on OS X, do people still cross-compile for the i386 architecture? Or are x86_64 binaries the only architecture worth bothering with nowadays?

    In my Cocoa app how can I get the current user's domain when they're logged in via Active Directory? I need to determine two things: 1. If the current user is logged on to an Active Directory domain (only need to handle Active Directory). 2. If 1, the domain of the user. I've found references to Directory Services and the Open Directory Programming Guide but the latter is 10.6 only (I must support 10.5+) and I could not find any examples for the former that gave me an idea of what I needed to do.

  • How do I run Eclipse using Oracle's new 1.7 JDK for the Mac?

    I'm trying to get the new 1.7 JDK working with Eclipse (this is Oracle's official release). I don't mean just pointing Eclipse to it so you can use it in projects, this works fine, but actually making Eclipse run using the 1.7 JVM. I've moved the new JVM to the top of the list in Java Preferences, but Eclipse still starts with 1.6. If I disable 1.6 in Java Preferences I get a dialog immediately after I double-click on Eclipse saying "Failed to create the Java Virtual Machine". edit: I added the following to my eclipse.ini just before the -vmargs: -vm /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.7.0.jdk/Contents/Home/bin/java Yet in the Eclipse installation details dialog I still see: java.runtime.version=1.6.0_31-b04-415-11M3646 edit 2: here are the contents of my eclipse.ini file: https://gist.github.com/2512578

  • How can I automate new system provisioning with scripts under Mac OS X 10.6?

    I've been working on this for days but simply cannot find the correct references to make it work. The idea is to have a script that will baseline newly purchased Macs that comes into the company with basic stuffs like set autologin to off, create a new admin user (for remote admins to access for support, set password to unlock screensaver and etc) . Sample list for baseline that admins have to do on each new machine: Click the Login Options button Set Automatic Login: OFF Check: Show the Restart, Sleep, and Shutdown buttons Uncheck: Show input menu in login window Uncheck: Show password hints Uncheck: Use voice over in the login window Check: Show fast user switching menu as Short Name (note: this is only part of a long list to do on each machine) I've managed to find some references to make some parts work. Like autologin can be unset with: defaults write /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences com.apple.userspref.DisableAutoLogin -bool TRUE and I've kinda found ways to muscle in a new user creation (including prompts) with AppleScript and shell commands. But generally its tough finding ways to do somewhat simple things like turn on password to get out of screensaver or to allow fast user switching. References are either too limited or just no where to be seen (e.g. I can unset autologin via cli but the very next setting on the system preference "show restart, sleep and shutdown buttons" is somewhere else and I can't find any command line to make it set) Does anyone have any ideas on a list, document, reference or anything of where each setting on the system resides so that I can be pointed to make it work? or maybe sample scripts for the above example...     I've been trying everything but something or other always stops me cold. Now, I'm trying 2.8.10 (can't make 2.8.7 work) and I keep getting this linker error. Configure shows --with-opengl = no, yet it wants it but can't find it?   • Python 3.1: Syntax Error for Everything! (Mac OS X)

    I updated to Python 3.1.3 (I've got OS X 10.6). If I type python in Terminal, I get a working 2.6.1 environment. If I type python3 in Terminal, I get a 3.1.3 environment. Everything looks fine until I do something. If I try to run print "hello", I get a syntax error. This problem is the same in IDLE. I tried deleting everything for 3.1 and then reinstalling, but it hasn't worked. Ideas? Thanks in advance!
