• Changing UINavigationBar font in Swift

  I have a UINavigationBar with a title in the middle. I have added a custom font ("Comic_Andy.ttf") to my app (I have checked info.plist to make sure it's listed, and I have checked the Copy Bundle Resources to make sure it has been added), and I would like the title of the UINavigationBar to be displayed in that font. From what I can gather it seems as though I'm supposed to use this in my ViewController: myNavigationBar.titleTextAttributes = [NSFontAttributeName: UIFont(name: "Comic_Andy", size: 22)] I placed that method in the viewDidLoad function of the ViewController. I have also tried this in the didFinishLaunchingWithOptions function of the AppDelegate: UINavigationBar.appearance().titleTextAttributes = [NSFontAttributeName: UIFont(name: "Comic_Andy", size: 22)] I am programming in Swift, in XCode 6 Beta 6. Many resources regarding this task have mentioned using a method called setTitleTextAttributes, which is nowhere to be seen. I can't figure it out for the life of me - I've probably spent close to 3 hours on it by now - I have checked every StackOverflow answer, every website, so please do not mark this as a duplicate. • Defining - and dealing with - Evil

  As a software developer one sometimes gets feature requests that seem to be in some kind of morally grey area. Sometimes one can deflect them, or implement them in a way that feels less 'evil' - sometimes - on reflection - while the feature request 'feels' wrong theres no identifiable part of it that actually causes harm. Sometimes one feels a feature is totally innocent but various anti virus products start tagging one as malware. For example - I personally consider EULAs to (a) hopefully be unenforceable and (b) a means by which rights are REMOVED from consumers. However Anti Virus scanners frequently mark as malware any kind of download agent that does not display a EULA. Which to me is the result of a curious kind of double think. What I want to know is - are there any online (or offline) resources that cover evil software development practices? How can I know if a software practice that I consider dodgy is in fact evil enough to consider fighting?

• Using JCal Pro and Community Builder together for registration

  Does anyone know if there is a way to use JCal Pro and Community Builder together in order to have users register for a specific event? When our new website was designed JCal Pro was implemented with the idea that individuals could look at the calendar and see what events they wanted to sign up for based spots open for that specific day. Now that we have more events and scheduling has become a major issue. For another project we installed CB in order to allow individuals to register and create profiles for an annual event. As I am looking at this nightmare I am living trying to organize various groupings of people I am assuming that there has to be some sort of a way to connect the two up so that those who have a user account through CB could also go in look at the calendar and sign up for an event. There is a JCal plug-in installed in CB however I have not had much luck at figuring out its functionality. I am running: Joomla 1.5.14 JCal Pro version 2.2.7.441 Community Builder: 1.2

• How to prevent Spell checking code in MS Office?

  We use MS Office. Outlook for emails, Word for some documentation and I use OneNote a lot for my own note taking. What bugs me is when I drop some code or use key words or even camel case into these apps the spell checking picks them up and I have red squiggles everywhere. Ignore is pretty much useless, so either I have to turn off Spell Check altogether start adding these to the custom dictionary. What would be good is if I can use the Set Language function to mark a whole block of text to just not be spell checked. Has anyone found a nice solution to this or do you know of a blank dictionary is best to use? I found using "Mohawk" kind of does that... might just use that for now. Maybe create a macro to switch between them.

• Explorer hijacked by a trojan

  I managed to catch a newish trojan that my Anti virus program wasn't able to detect. I'm usually not that bad at technical stuff regarding computers but I really don't know what to do with this one anymore. The trojan somehow managed to get my Windows to recover it every time I try to remove it by deleting it's exe (called some weird name located in Programs "asdza/saddasn.exe" (example only)). It also sets an entry in my autostart. It starts a second explorer.exe and tries to connect to some server obviously trying to steal data. (glad I still have my firewall) How can I get rid of this trojan, I really need help. It is new and probably unrecognized by all major virus scanners.

• Complete solution to upgrade PostgreSQL on debian production server

  I'm using Debian 6 (Squeeze) in production for a couple of websites. I decided to use postgresql backports so that I could use PostgreSQL 9.0 features. I thought that it would remain 9.0 and receive updates to that major version. Unfortunetly Squueze backports were updated to PostgreSQL 9.1 so probably I won't receive updates to 9.0. I'm planning upgrading to 9.1 but I know that it's not done automatically. I've read about official pg_upgrade and debian's pg_upgradecluster, but I would appreciate complete guide to upgrade. What are steps to do (first apt-get install postgresql, then pg_upgradecluster, then remove old cluster)? List of steps would be nice. What are possible failure scenarios? How to prepare to failures and react on them? I can stop database for a couple of hours only so I want to be prepared

• Connecting to Google SMTP with Konica Minolta Printers

  I have spent the better portion of two days trying to get a number of Bizhub MFCs to connect to Google's SMTP service. Our company recently switched from an exchange server, which handled SMTP requests to Gmail. We have 20 branches each with different MFCs. I was able to get the Cannons connected, but the Konicas are giving me major problems. The three models that are giving me issues are the C203, C250 and the C280. I have used the following: smtp.gmail.com port 465 Gmail Username/Pass aspmx.l.google.com port 25 no authentication aspmx.l.google.com port 25 Gmail Username/Pass None of these methods are working despite the fact that all of those have worked on different makes/models. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm at my whit's end.

  Hi, Hope my subject line was descriptive enough. Basically, I have a table called Students, and one called Absences. The Students table contains student information (Name, DOB, StudentID etc.), the Absences table contains any absences (Date, Reason, related by StudentID). I want to get a full list of the students, plus a count of their absences. Sample results would be: StudentName Absences ------------- ----------- Johnny 3 Mark 2 James 1 Anthony 0 Sharon 0 Can someone suggest a way I should tackle this problem? • In the following implementation of static_strlen, why are the & and parentheses around str necessary

  If I change the type to const char str[Len], I get the following error: error: no matching function for call to ‘static_strlen(const char [5])’ Am I correct that static_strlen expects an array of const char references? My understanding is that arrays are passed as pointers anyway, so what need is there for the elements to be references? • Web app - Biometric system connection

  Hi, I will be developing an application for a club where they will have visitors use biometric systems(finger print) or magnetic cards to mark their attendance. This application is planned as a web app, made using PHP/MySQL/Javascript. It does a lot of other things as well. What I wanted to find out is how is the interface between Biometric/Megnetic Card systems to a web app done? I've never worked on this and am hoping if someone who has experience with this can throw some light on this as to how this could be accomplished. Any pointers will be appreciated. (I'm afraid there's got to be some form of application installed on a pc that would interface with the hardware and probably makes calls to the web app. But, if there was a way to connect it to the web app directly, then the app would be easy to deploy to any location with minimal installation.) • Increasing Screen Resolution to more than limit and scaling to origional

  I have a laptop, with Screen Resolution - 1366x768 (most common) - I want to increase it further to 1600x900 (or higher), in the same ratio. I want to scale the higher resolution on my current screen to fit it. I found xrandr with command xrandr --output LVDS1 --scale 1.4x1.4, this worked but again resulted to another problem, it does the scaling thing but the cursor is still blocked into the native screen resolution and I am not able to move it further, I found that the bug is already filed here. Also this command was only for Linux, I wanted to do this thing with both Linux and Windows (including Windows 8). I want a similar software that is bug free (at least not a major bug like this) and that supports Windows as well (or two separate software for Windows and Linux). Any help is appreciated and Thanks in advance.

  I'm getting this error with IIS 6.0 (i assume), and PHP 5.2.3, and FastCGI FastCGI Error The FastCGI Handler was unable to process the request. Error Details: Error Number: 5 (0x80070005). Error Description: Access is denied. HTTP Error 500 - Server Error. Internet Information Services (IIS) Any ideas, nothing revealings in logs (other than 500 errors), this is pretty much all of I have to work with. The script has read and execute privileged for the internet guest account; and, I've added read/execute privileges to the whole D:\PHP. Consider that each table has IsDeleted column which has to be marked true if request was made to delete data. But that data shoud remain their physically. Tables which will have IsDeleted Column are tblDomain tblSubject tblTopic tblSubTopic Now I want, if a user marks one domain as deleted then all the refrence field should also get marked as deleted. i.e. 1 domain is related to 5 subjects, those 5 subjects are related to 25 topics, those 25 topics are related to 500 subtopics and so on. Then how should i mark all these fileds as Deleted. ?

• What happens to a Windows Dynamic Drive

  In my windows (Windows 7) I have two primary logical volumns, One is on a SSD harddrive for my operating system and installed software, and my other is a Dynamic volume for my stored media. (I do alot of work with HD footage) I have all my media on the original DV tapes for backup purposes, just having them all available on my harddrive at all times is a major convience for me, well worth the few hundred dollar investment those 2TB drives were. Anyway, Long story short is my windows install has become problematic and I want to reformat windows. Does this, or will this effect my dynamic drive in any way? I've got almost 3 TB of video on there and i really dont want to re-import all my DV tapes.

  Hi, Just starting with ASP.Net MVC and have hit a bit of a snag regarding validation messages. I've a custom validation attribute assigned to my class validate several properties on my model. When this validation fails, we'd like the error message to contain XHTML mark-up, including a link to help page, (this was done in the original WebForms project as a ASP:Panel). At the moment the XHTML tags such as "< a ", in the ErrorMessage are being rendered to the screen. Is there any way to get the ValidationSummary to render the XHTML markup correctly? Or is there a better way to handle this kind of validation? Thanks

• How do I set default values on new properties for existing entities after light weight core data migration?

  I've successfully completed light weight migration on my core data model. My custom entity Vehicle received a new property 'tirePressure' which is an optional property of type double with the default value 0.00. When 'old' Vehicles are fetched from the store (Vehicles that were created before the migration took place) the value for their 'tirePressure' property is nil. (Is that expected behavior?) So I thought: "No problem, I'll just do this in the Vehicle class:" - (void)awakeFromFetch { [super awakeFromFetch]; if (nil == self.tirePressure) { [self willChangeValueForKey:@"tirePressure"]; self.tirePressure = [NSNumber numberWithDouble:0.0]; [self didChangeValueForKey:@"tirePressure"]; } } Since "change processing is explicitly disabled around" awakeFromFetch I thought the calls to willChangeValueForKey and didChangeValueForKey would mark 'tirePresure' as dirty. But they don't. Every time these Vehicles are fetched from the store 'tirePressure' continues to be nil despite having saved the context.

  I have two volumes of amazon EC2 where by default 1 GiB volume using which has fulled. Now I want to use my second volume which is 9 Gim. I used command cat /proc/partitions I got major minor #blocks name 202 1 1048576 xvda1 202 80 9437184 xvdf Then I hit mkfs.ext3 -F /dev/sdf its showing mkfs.ext3: No such file or directory while trying to determine filesystem size then I hit command df and I got Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/xvda1 1032088 1031280 0 100% / tmpfs 313160 8 313152 1% /lib/init/rw udev 297800 24 297776 1% /dev tmpfs 313160 4 313156 1% /dev/shm overflow 1024 32 992 4% /tmp means still I am unable to use my 9 GiB space Volume. I am conform I have two volume where attachment information is i-7e4fb41c:/dev/sda1 (attached) and i-7e4fb41c:/dev/sdf (attached) where only sda1 is using. Any one know how may I use my second volume(sdf). Thx

• Making all links inside of a div call the same function?

If the user clicks the X then it will call dismiss() which will mark it as being read in the database. The thing is, if the message itself contains a link to another page or external site, I also want to call dismiss() before the user leaves the page. Is there anyway to alter this javascript to take all a elements (the X and any links that would appear in the message) and change the onclick to call the function?

• Looking for alternative to NetNewsWire and Google Reader

  I have used NetNewsWire on both Mac and iPhone for years, and have been reasonably happy. Unfortunately the latest version of NNW for Mac, which I just upgraded to, now matches Google Reader's policy of marking items read after 30 days. The older version I had been using did not do this. I regularly keep unread items for way longer than 30 days, and do eventually read them, so this is a major bummer for me. The iPhone version has behaved this way forever, but I was ok with that as long as I had the full list on my desktop. Keeping in sync between the iPhone and Mac is very important, so I need to find another online solution with clients available on both sides. I've done a little digging but haven't found much; it seems like Google has pretty much taken over this space. Any suggestions?

• What HTTP headers are required to refresh a page on back button.

  I'm trying to get a page to refresh when navigated to from the back button. From what I understand after reading around a bit I should just need to mark the page as uncacheable but I can't get any browsers to refresh the page. • OpenSCAD keeps crashing when I raise my precision past $fn=29?

  Out of the blue, OpenSCAD decided to stop working for me on designs that previously rendered just fine. After playing around I found out that any time I use a precision greater than $fn=29 the program crashes with the message "openscad.exe has stopped working". I can use any precision 29 and below, but the second I adjust it to even 30 the program crashes. This is a major problem as before I was using a precision of 100, and without it the design's moving parts do not work on print. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times and haven't been able to fix the problem. I have watched the CPU during the calculations and it never reaches more than 35%. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this problem? I also have not changed computers or even the code. Thanks! I am using Windows 32 bit, Version 2013.06. The default version from the website.

• Visual Studio add-in for performance benchmarking

  I'd like to measure the performance of some code blocks in my c# winforms application. In particular I want to measure performance regression/improvement after some restructuring of the code. So long I've seen the System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch. However, I want to avoid writing measuring code into my classes, I would rather prefer to separate measuring from actual code. As for debugging, you can set breakpoints on several code lines and "jump" from one to the next by "Continue Execution", I imagine something similar for measuring: Mark to lines of code and make Visual Studio display the time elapsing from one to the next. Is there any feature/add-in in that direction?
