    I've just installed Ubuntu 12.10 64bit on dual boot with windows 7. I've been looking for a lot of the things people say to download, like myunity but when I search in the software center, nothing comes up, just stuff like magazines. Do I need to add some ppas for it to see them? What are some that I should add on a new install? And can anyone help me get myunity on here so I can start customising my desktop? Thanks

    please tell I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 and if I have already created ext4 ./ (partition) and on the same volume I have ./home so if I create a separate partition ./home will the software that I install for example from Ubuntu Download Center will automatically go to ./home (partition) or still ./ (root) because I'm using PlayOnLinux and Wine and all its software only installs to ./home (file system disk) where emulated copy of Windows Xp installed also and it's a lack of space.

    I've just installed Ubuntu 12.04 and now that I want to install a program through the terminal with a command starting with sudo, the terminal says Sorry, try again. I just don't get it, this is my user password which I check with through the Software Center. What can be then wrong? (Is it possible that the terminal function differently than the rest of the OS in relation to ASCII keyboard?) Please help.

    At the moment I am running Ubuntu 12.10 from a USB memory stick, and I wondered whether it would be possible to save and run any programs I have downloaded from another USB stick instead of the one with the operating system on. I'd like to be able to set the download location in Ubuntu Software Center to the second memory drive, but i don't know how to do this. I can keep the operating system on the one USB and the programs on the other USB, which makes everything much more easier. Any ideas?

  • motion computation from video using pyglet in python

    Hi, I am writing a simple motion detection program but i want it to be cross platform so im using python and the pyglet library since it provides a simple way to load videos in different formats (specially wmv and mpeg). So far i have the code given below which loads the movie and plays it in a window.     Hi, I'm having problems with scriptData on uploadify, I'm pretty sure the config syntax is fine but whatever I do, scriptData is not passed to the upload script. I tested in both FF and Chrome with flash v.   • iPhone: Can access files in documents directory in Simulator, but not device

    Hi there! I'm writing an app that copies some contents of the bundle into the applications Document's directory, mainly images and media. I then access this media throughout the app from the Document's directory. This works totally fine in the Simulator, but not on the device. The assets just come up as null. I've done NSLog's and the paths to the files look correct, and I've confirmed that the files exist in the directory by dumping a file listing in the console. Any ideas? Thank you!     I have taken backup of SQL Server 2008 DB on server, and download them to local environment. I am trying to restore that database and it is keep on giving me following error. An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo) ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The media family on device 'C:\go4sharepoint_1384_8481.bak' is incorrectly formed. SQL Server cannot process this media family. RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 3241) For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=09.00.4053&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=3241&LinkId=20476 I have tried to create a temp DB on server and tried to restore the same backup file and that works. I have also tried no. of times downloading file from server to local pc using different options on Filezila (Auto, Binary) But its not working. After that I tried to execute following command on server. BACKUP DATABASE go4sharepoint_1384_8481 TO DISK=' C:\HostingSpaces\dbname_jun14_2010_new.bak' with FORMAT And it is giving me following error. Msg 3201, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot open backup device 'c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\Backup\ C:\HostingSpaces\dbname_jun14_2010_new.bak'. Operating system error 123(The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.). Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.   • Android MediaPlayer ignores it's internal volume when the system volume changes

    Hi, here is my situation: I have a media player playing music in an Android application. I've found that with certain headphones, the volume is much too loud even when the volume is set to it's lowest setting. As a result, I want to change the volume of the music for all volume levels to be 10% of what it normally is (actually, this value is user-defined of course). The following works perfectly: mediaPlayer.setVolume(0.1f, 0.1f); The volume of the music is now at a good level for listening. However, if the user now changes the volume using the volume rocker (thus changing the music stream volume), the media player changes the volume as expected, but it also seems to reset the 'setVolume' parameters to 1.0, causing a massive volume change. Setting the volume back to 0.1 sets the volume to how it should be (which is 10% of the current music stream volume). To quote the Android docs for the MediaPlayer.setVolume method: This API is recommended for balancing the output of audio streams within an application How can you do this if it gets reset to 1.0 each time the system volume changes? Any help muchly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm following the steps indicated in the official site: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/media/MediaRecorder.html So I have a method that initializes and configure the MediaRecorder object in order to start recording. Here you have the code: this.mr = new MediaRecorder(); this.mr.setAudioSource(MediaRecorder.AudioSource.MIC); this.mr.setOutputFormat(MediaRecorder.OutputFormat.THREE_GPP); this.mr.setAudioEncoder(MediaRecorder.AudioEncoder.AMR_NB); this.mr.setOutputFile(this.path + this.fileName); try { this.mr.prepare(); } catch (IllegalStateException e) { Log.d("Syso", e.toString()); e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { Log.d("Syso", e.toString()); e.printStackTrace(); } When I execute this code in the simulator, thanks to logcat, I can see that the method setAudioSource(MediaRecorder.AudioSource.MIC) gives the next error (with the tag audio_ipunt) when it is called: ERROR/audio_input(34): unsupported parameter: x-pvmf/media-input-node/cap-config-interface;valtype=key_specific_value ERROR/audio_input(34): VerifyAndSetParameter failed And then when the method prepare() is called, I get the another error again: ERROR/PVOMXEncNode(34): PVMFOMXEncNode-Audio_AMRNB::DoPrepare(): Got Component OMX.PV.amrencnb handle If I start to record bycalling the method start()... I can see that a file has been created, but it doesn't seem that it been well recorderd. Anway, if i try this in a real device I can record with no problems, but I CAN'T play what I just recorded.   • fmod VS2008 unresolved externals in dependant project

    Im currently trying to use the latest stable fmod ex in my project. I have a main executable in a project called engine4, and a project named DX9Platform in the solution as well which ti depends on. All the fmod code is in this DX9Platform project, which generates a lib file. DX9Platform includes fmodex_vc.lib and builds fine. However buildign Engien4 results in unresolved external symbol messages referencing files that use fmod in the DX9Platform project I have tried adding fmodex_vc.lib to the Engine4 project, with no success, how do I fix this?
