• Update openssl in debian squeeze

  There is this CVE-2014-0224 bug in openssl so I would like to update my affected # openssl version OpenSSL 0.9.8o 01 Jun 2010 But there is no update for squeeze. I read the it is already fixed in squeeze-LTS. What I am supposed to do? Will there be an fix for squeeze and I just need to wait? Should I install an openssl update manually? How? I tried to install openssl-0.9.8za and openssl-1.0.1h with wget, ./config, make, make install but openssl version is still that same. I also tried config parameters but with this build fails.

• How can I get jQuery UI's Draggable and Sortable functions to work on the iPhone?

  I have a page that uses JQuery UI; in particular the Sortable interaction. The page works fine for desktop web browsers with mice, however I can't get the drag-drop functionality to work on Mobile Safari on the iPhone. Any dragging action simply scrolls the page. The functionality on my page is extremely similar to the Sortable Empty-Lists demo on the JQuery UI site. This page also doesn't work on the iPhone. Is there any way to get the drag-drop functions working on the iPhone?

• Preserving smart playlist order on iPhone

  I have a smart playlist configured to play my favorite podcasts during my commute. It's a list of audio-only, unheard podcasts: In iTunes, I've ordered the playlist by Release Date -- i.e. I want to listen to the oldest podcast episodes first. The order is correct in iTunes but when I sync to my iPhone the order is jumbled. Currently, I have five episodes in this playlist -- ordered by release date they're A,B,C,D,E. On my iPhone, they're ordered B,D,C,E,A. There's no sort order that's obvious to me -- not sorted by name of episode, name of podcast, length of episode, date added, etc. Any solutions to ordering smart playlists on the iPhone? Update: This is likely an iTunes 9 bug. There's lots of discussion about this over on apple.com

• Find BIOS update for HP Pavilion xt966

  I installed FreeNAS on a HP Pavilion xt966. Every three seconds or so I message comes up on the console. acpi_tz0: _TMP value is absurd, ignored (-270.2C) From what I have been able to find this is because of a bug in the BIOS... but I have yet to find an update for it. HP's site only shows drivers. FreeNAS is build on BSD. Anyone know where to find a BIOS update for this unit?

• Wrong bbox or descent with @font-face and opentype font

  Hey all, I embedded a opentype font with @font-face. Works fine, but the bbox or descent (or baseline/descent line?) is wrong on certain browsers/OSs. The problem is e.g. on a Mac the bbox is not right, that means to center the text in it's bbox I have to set a padding to the paragraph. I guess the font was created on Windows and was not tested on Linux and OS X, and the font rendering engines in these OSs work diffrently. Any idea how to solve withs problem? • StackOverflow Site Layout Problem in Chrome

  I was cleaning up one of my questions here and noticed that Stack Overflow's comments were overflowing into the right column in Chrome. The question is, what's the difference in CSS handling between Chrome and Firefox. I don't have access to Safari, Opera, et al. Can someone tell me in which browsers the error manifests? Is it just me? Here's the layout error: (my apologies to Tim Down for covering up his name with my comment bubble) Since I have no natural skill for good layouts and the whole process makes me sad, I wonder if someone can diagnose the error on StackOverflow and make a recommendation on how to avoid it. Is this a consequence of embedding a div inside a td? Plus I admit it. It's fun to point out an error on one of the greatest sites ever.

• SpeedTracer NETWORK_RESOURCE_RESPONSE vs NETWORK_RESOURCE_FINISH

  I'm using SpeedTracer with GoogleChrome to measure the load times of requested resources. The SpeedTracer site says: NETWORK_RESOURCE_RESPONSE "Indicates that the renderer has started receiving bits from the resource loader" NETWORK_RESOURCE_FINISH "Indictes a resource load is successful and complete." In my mind that means we would always see a network resource response (bytes are arriving) before we see a finish (all bytes received). This doesn't seem to be the case at all. Here is a sample: Request Timing @33519ms for 926ms Response Timing @34445ms for -847ms Total Timing @33519ms for 78ms I'm guessing response time isn't supposed to be negative. Can someone explain this or is this a bug? I'm using Chrome 10.0.612.3 dev with a SpeedTracer I downloaded today.

• Ubuntu 9.10: switch in KVM, mouse is detected but not usable immediately

  I use a KVM switch to jump between my tower and laptop, both placed on my desk. With Ubuntu 9.04 this worked perfectly. In 9.10, when I switch to the tower, then back to the laptop, the mouse is detected (as shown by /var/log/messages) but moving it has no effect. If I use Ctrl-Alt-F1 to switch to the TTY, then Alt-F7 back to Xorg, the mouse starts working. The tower is running Windows 7, but that shouldn't matter. Sometimes, but not other times, the USB keyboard on the KVM switch is also not usable and I have to use the laptop's built-in keyboard to switch to the TTY. The laptop has two monitors, the built-in and an external. It's (obviously) the external panel that is attached via the KVM switch. Any suggestions? Report to Canonical as a bug?

• Exchange 2003 HTTP Account Error

  We are trying to get one of our users connected to our Exchange 2003 server using the HTTP method as they already have an existing Exchange account on another server. The setup goes through and they appear to get connected fine however none of the subfolders are listed. Instead we get one folder of "Error-Pls file a Bug". The usual Google search just throws up nothing useful. Does anyone know how to fix this? Or has anyone actually gotten Outlook (2003 or 2007) to connect to an Exchange 2003 server?

• jPlayer problem in Firefox - also throws error from jQuery?! Not related to OGG support.

  I've been working on a small SVG website, http://docroot.ca/ - the SVG part has been working out pretty well. In the current site, jPlayer is called and given an mp3. jPlayer functions properly in Safari, Chrome, and Opera, but not Firefox which throws the following two errors: Error: not well-formed Source File: Line: 1, Column: 191 Source Code: <div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><embed name="jqjp_flash_0" id="jqjp_flash_0" src="js/Jplayer.swf" width="0" height="0" bgcolor="#ffffff" quality="high" FlashVars="id=jPlayerBox&fid=jqjp_flash_0&vol=80" allowScriptAccess="always" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /></ and: Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... • jQuery using .animate() fails to do ANYTHING in IE8

  So, it's official: I hate Internet Explorer. Yes, all bloody versions of it. :-D So, I didn't think I was doing anything complicated here, but apparently I am. I have a bunch of list items in an unordered list styled for a navigation menu, and in Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera, things work fine. What is supposed to happen is when you hover a navigational item, it should animate some growth and animate a background color change. Nothing happens in Internet Explorer 7/8. I think it's just tied to the animate function, since if I swap .animate with .css, it works. http://project-cypher.net/wtf/ Ideas?

• Many commands are not found by zsh

  If I tab autocomplete, most of the time I get errors. Let's say I do a vim tab to look for the files in the folder. It just jumps to the next command line. Or let's say I press tab after typing rvm use 2.0.0 --default I will get zsh: correct 'rvm' to 'rvim' [nyae]?. If I say no, I get a command not found error. Also if I press tab after typing ruby -v, zsh wants to correct to _ruby -v. Any known bug or any help for this?

• Outpost Firewall asks every time one specific application tries to access to network

  One of installed applications on my PC tries to send UDP packed. Outpost warns me about this. I say that Outpost should allow all activity for this application. But next time application wants to send UDP packed Outpost asks me again and again the same question. There is no problems with other applications but with this only. Is it possible to resolve such behavior or is it known bug? Thanks! I have installed Outpost Firewall Pro 2009 Version 6.5.3 (2518.381.0686)

• Programming language for web

  I haven't programmed in a while, and have kind of lost interest, but I want to get back, and I've enjoyed C# the most, a lot more than objective-c and visual basic. So I want to make some games that me and my friends will be able to play next school year. So basically something you can play on the web. What programming languages deploy to the web? If c# is possible, and a mac with safari/firefox would be able to use it (I can't install plugins, and I don't want to get in trouble for making myself admin again) Flash, Java, etc. If java does, I'd like that most since it's most like c#. Then what libraries/engines would I use? I want to do 2d. And then what IDE would I use? Thanks in advance!

• mod_access for lighttpd causes a 403 error for all POST requests

  I have found on my debian server that running the lighttpd module mod_access is causing the server to response with a 403 to all POST requests. It's very odd as I have two servers, one is running as I'd expect and the other keeps returning these 403's. They are running identical configs for lighttpd and php. My lighttpd.conf is: https://gist.github.com/4269500 There is also one other custom conf: https://gist.github.com/4269508 I've opened up the servers for requests until I get this fixed, the server that works is http://mercury.isitup.org/ and the one that fails is http://venus.isitup.org/. After working out that disabling mod_access resolves the problem I greped all my lighttpd configs for uses of it (docs). Disabling each line I found didn't help, leading me to think this is perhaps some default behaviour (or bug?)... Has anyone come across this before or know what configuration value I've got wrong? • Automator won't change finder item names of photoshop automation exports

  I made a folder action that monitors a folder and changes the name of anything put in it. Then I automate a photoshop action that exports images to the folder. for some reason I have to move the images out of the folder and then back in for it to change. is there a way to have it change the images as they're saved there? is this a bug or am i doing something wrong? it works fine if i just move the images in and out of the folder. and sometimes it will change just a couple of them, which makes me think it's just because they're coming in so fast that it glitches.

• Do any browsers yet support HTML5's checkValidity() method?

  The HTML5 spec defines some very interesting validation components, including pattern (for validating against a Regexp) and required (for marking a field as required). As best I can tell, however, no browser yet actually does any validation based on these attributes. I found a comparison of HTML5 support across engines, but there is no information about validation there. In the browsers I've tried (Firefox 3.5.8 and Safari 4.0.4), no object has a checkValidity() method, so I can't run the validations even though I can define them. Is there any support for this feature out there so I can experiment?

• Saving Blob data from SQLite database to a file

  Hello, I'm trying to save blob data from a SQLite database (Safari cache: Cache.db) to a file, but for some reason sqlite won't read the whole blob. I eventually would like to do this in ruby, but for now something that works directly in sqlite command prompt is fine. Also, I've read all of the entries that talk about this here on stackoverflow, but most of them only discuss the performance of saving images in blobs and the one entry that does show to save blobs to file is in C# which does not help me. • "[object Object]" passed instead of the actual object as parameter

  I am using Heroku with a Ruby on Rails application, and running from Safari. I have the following Ajax call: $.ajax({ type : 'POST', url : '/test_page', data : {stuff: arr1}, dataType : 'script' }); arr1 is supposed to be an array of objects. There's a console.log right before that, and it is: [Object, Object, Object, Object, Object, ...] However, I got an error on the server side when I made this ajax call. • Can I list file names (or their parent directories) that were recently deleted using rm in OS X?

  Is it possible to find out which files and directories have recently been deleted by rm in OS X? Or failing that, is it possible to find which parent directories have had files or directories within it deleted? The OS version is Snow Leopard. Background: Last night, rvm (ruby version manager) did rm -rf of the ~/ruby directory from the home directory. (This bug has since been fixed) Ideally, I'd like to know what files within the ~/ruby directory were deleted, but failing that, I'd like to know if rvm deleted anything outside of ~/ruby . In case anyone's wondering about backups...: Just about everything within ~/ruby is a git project that has a remote repo, and I have a fairly recent Time Machine backup (only 20 days old).

• How do I enable a disabled Event Notification.

  I have a scenerio where I am using external notification to process documents being sent in from the entire navy fleet, normally I have no problems, but just a few days ago an administrator changed passwords and I my queue processing failed and I rolled back the transaction with this C# code: catch (Exception) { TransporterService.WriteEventToWindowsLog(AppName, "Rolling Back Transaction:", ERROR); broker.Tran.Rollback(); break; } after which my target queue would continue to fill up but nothing to the external activation queue. Does the Event Notification get disabled once a transaction is rolled back? Should I have done a broker.EndDialog here when catching my exception? Also, after my event notification is disabled(if that is actually whats happening) how do I re engage it? Do I have to drop it and recreate it? Thank in advance for any help, I love Service Broker and its workign wonderfully except for this bug that I hope to fix soon.

• Django + WebKit = Broken pipe

  I'm running the Django 1.2 development server and I get these Broken Pipe error messages whenever I load a page from it with Chrome or Safari. My co-worker is getting the error as well when he loads a page from his dev server. We don't have these errors when using Opera or Firefox. • Problem with jQuery's fade in/out in Firefox

When you move your mouse over there small text shows up that says: Napredna pretraga Now, for some reason those letters change color to like yellow for very short period of time in ff 3.5 and to some strange color in safari 4.0.2 for win. In ie8, opera and chrome it works just the way it should, white letters stay white during the animation. • cant start glassfish within netbeans

  when i click on Run it displays and error message: Starting GlassFish v3 Domain GlassFish v3 Domain start failed. /Volumes/Private/noname/Sites/projects/java/MyFirstServlet/nbproject/build-impl.xml:602: Deployment error: GlassFish v3 Domain start failed. See the server log for details. BUILD FAILED (total time: 2 minutes 0 seconds) but then i fire up Terminal in mac and use asadmin start-domain and it starts. and in netbeans i then Run the project and it fires up Safari and displays the content. but why cant glassfish start in netbeans? any idea?

  I am trying to use the new LiveConnect features introduced in Java 6 Update 10. Code looks like this (copied from the applet tutorial): Class<?> c = Class.forName("com.sun.java.browser.plugin2.DOM"); Method m = c.getMethod("getDocument", java.applet.Applet.class); Document document = (Document) m.invoke(null, this); But all I am getting is a ClassNotFoundException for the entry-point class. This on the Mac, 10.6, with both Firefox and Safari. Java Plug-in 1.6.0_22 Using JRE version 1.6.0_22-b04-307-10M3261 Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM Is this not implemented on the Mac? Or do I need to configure something? All I need to do is get and set the value of form elements on the page, so I would be fine with an older (pre-6u10) API if that works better.
