• googlemap zoom in iphone application

  Hi all, i have a problem in iphone application that i have integrated google map and i am calculating center runtime so that the map shows both points on the iphone screen, the alogrithm applied (thanks to stackover flow) is working fine in case of 2 locations very far from each other. But it is not working for near locations and the zoom level goes too much that it is not able to show any images of those two near locations, so i want to put a check that if the location are very near to each other OR the google is not able to show the maps of the locations then it choose the default zoom level so that it shows the map on the screen instead of blank / black screen. • expand div when use clicks in text box?

  I'd like to have a div expand to show contents when a user clicks their mouse in a text box to enter text. I haven't seen that around anywhere before. I know how to make things expand onClick, but can someone point me to what I'm looking for? Basically, I have an email signup box that I just want to show the input field for the email address, but if the user actually decided to get on the email list, that div will expand to also ask them for their name and zipcode.   I'm trying to compile a simple example of generic classes / type patterns (see http://www.haskell.org/ghc/docs/latest/html/users_guide/generic-classes.html) in Haskell but it won't compile. Any ideas about what's wrong with the code would be helpful. • Google Web Optimizer -- How long until winning combination?

  I've had an A/B Test running in Google Web Optimizer for six weeks now, and there's still no end in sight. Google is still saying: "We have not gathered enough data yet to show any significant results. When we collect more data we should be able to show you a winning combination." Is there any way of telling how close Google is to making up its mind? (Does anyone know what algorithm does it use to decide if there's been any "high confidence winners"?) According to the Google help documentation: Sometimes we simply need more data to be able to reach a level of high confidence. A tested combination typically needs around 200 conversions for us to judge its performance with certainty. But all of our conversions have over 200 conversations at the moment: 230 / 4061 (Original) 223 / 3937 (Variation 1) 205 / 3984 (Variation 2) 205 / 4007 (Variation 3) How much longer is it going to have to run?? I want to display parts of the error object in an except block (similar to the err object in VBScript, which has Err.Number and Err.Description). • Twitter's Bootstrap 2.x popover callback can't focus on element

  I've modified bootstrap's popover function to include a callback which works great. But in the callback I cannot programmatically focus on the first form field. Strange, because I can manipulate other elements in the callback function as well as focus on the element at other points. • decoding algorithm wanted

  I receive encoded PDF files regularly. The encoding works like this: the PDFs can be displayed correctly in Acrobat Reader select all and copy the test via Acrobat Reader and paste in a text editor will show that the content are encoded so, examples are: 13579 -> 3579; hello -> jgnnq it's basically an offset (maybe swap) of ASCII characters. The question is how can I find the offset automatically when I have access to only a few samples. I cannot be sure whether the encoding offset is changed. All I know is some text will usually (if not always) show up, e.g. "Name:", "Summary:", "Total:", inside the PDF. Thank you!

• Loopj Android Async Http - onFailure not fired

  I am using the great async http library from loopj, but I have run into a small snag. If the user has no internet connection or loses their connection, the app just won't return anything. This part is expected, but it also doesn't fire the onFailure method. Also, the code I have used when there is an internet connection does work so there is no problem on the server end. Here is some code that is stripped down to the minimum.   I've been working on an application that has no discernable data access layer, so all the SQL statements are just built up as strings and executed. I'm constantly confronted by very long INSERT statements where I'm trying to figure out what value in the VALUES list matches up with what column in the column name list. I was about to create a little helper application where I could paste in an INSERT statement and have it show me a list of values matched up with the column names, just for debugging, and I thought, "someone else has probably done this already." Does anyone know of a web site where I can just paste in an INSERT statement and have it show me a two column table with column names in the first column and values in the second column?

  I have a similar concept to the SO questions/tags scenario however am trying to decide the best way of implementation. Tables Questions, QuestionTags and Tags Questions QuestionTags Tags --------- ------------ ---- QID QID TID QName TID TName When adding/updating a question I have 2 textboxes. The important part is a single textbox that allows users to enter in multiple Tags separated by spaces. I am using Linq2Sql so the Questions model has an EntitySet of QuestionTags with then link to Tags. My question is regarding the adding/updating of Questions (part 1), and also how to best show QuestionTags for a Question (part 2). Part 1 Before performing an add/update, my service layer needs to deal with 3 scenarios before passing to their respective repositories. Insert Tags that do not already exist Insert/Update Question Insert QuestionTags - when updating need to remove existing QuestionTags Here is my code below however started to get into a bit of a muddle.   Iam new to iphone development and have been tasked to development a fairly simple iphone application. It would basically show listings of information eg accommodations, restaurants...around 8-9 different types. Drilling on one would show the details of it. These are dynamically sourced from a db (through an xml feed) that powers an existing website. Also users should have ability to save favourites and also an interactive google map showing locations of these places. Just would like to know how long would such an iphone application take to develop and what would it costs. As iam new to iphone dev, i do not know how big the scope is, any complications to anticipate, scope creep issues, and how much to charge. Want to give a reasonable estimate so that i dont overcharge.

  As I know, there are at least two ways to present a UIViewController on another UIViewController, first is using presentModalViewController:animated: on UIViewController, another is using pushViewController:animated: on UINavigationController, it seems when 2 view controller changing their appearance, the invoke sequence of appear/disappear callbacks are different. Following is an example, A is a UINavigationController, and B is a normal view controller, the actual callback sequence are: (1) A using presentModalViewController:animated: to show B: [B viewWillAppear]; [A viewWillDisappear]; [B viewDidAppear]; [A viewDidDisappear]; (2) A using pushViewController:animated: to show B: [A viewWillDisappear]; [B viewWillAppear]; [A viewDidDisappear]; [B viewDidAppear]; So my question is that, are these different callback sequence stable, or there are no definite sequence we can rely on? • How to open a pdf on the iPad from an AIR for iOS app

  I am making an AIR for iOS app that can download pdfs. I do not want to display the pdf in the app itself but want the default pdf-viewer (iBooks) to launch and show the pdf. How can this be done. I am aware that navigateToURL can be used to open a file with the uri scheme of iBooks. But i dont know how to tell iBooks to look in the app-directory of my app. (Or is there some secret directory to place the file in from within the app - where iBooks can find it) Any pointers or help would be greatly appreciated as this is somewhat of a show stopper.
