With Apple making changes to section 3.3.1 on the iPhone dev agreement can one stillness libraries like boost in their apps?
I want to use Boost in my iPad app...
Instead of [email protected] or [email protected] I would like to use
[email protected].
can this be one when using app-engine xmpp service,
when own-domain is using google apps for mail service
This would be a great option if available.
We feel many getting worried to add when they find @appspot.com at end,
also when they see an app id which may not much same as our domain name.
Question: In terms of program stability and ensuring that the system will actually operate, how safe is it to use chars like ¦, § or ‡ for complex delimiter sequences in strings? Can I reliable believe that I won't run into any issues in a program reading these incorrectly?
I am working in a system, using C# code, in which I have to store a fairly complex set of information within a single string. The readability of this string is only necessary on the computer side, end-users should only ever see the information after it has been parsed by the appropriate methods. Because some of the data in these strings will be collections of variable size, I use different delimiters to identify what parts of the string correspond to a certain tier of organization. There are enough cases that the standard sets of ;, |, and similar ilk have been exhausted. I considered two-char delimiters, like ;# or ;|, but I felt that it would be very inefficient. There probably isn't that large of a performance difference in storing with one char versus two chars, but when I have the option of picking the smaller option, it just feels wrong to pick the larger one.
So finally, I considered using the set of characters like the double dagger and section. They only take up one char, and they are definitely not going to show up in the actual text that I'll be storing, so they won't be confused for anything.
But character encoding is finicky. While the visibility to the end user is meaningless (since they, in fact, won't see it), I became recently concerned about how the programs in the system will read it. The string is stored in one database, while a separate program is responsible for both encoding and decoding the string into different object types for the rest of the application to work with. And if something is expected to be written one way, is possibly written another, then maybe the whole system will fail and I can't really let that happen. So is it safe to use these kind of chars for background delimiters?
Hey there everyone,
So I'm used to the iPhone API, and I used MBProgressHUD a lot in my iPhone applications, but since I started developing apps for the Mac I noticed that I can't use MBProgressHUD. Is there an alternative that will do the same job as the MBProgressHUD? I notice that apple has it in their OS as well.
If anyone could help me find an alternative for MBProgressHUD, I would greatly appreciate it!!
Thanks,
Kevin
Hi Guys,
Anybody have any idea about how to broadcast videos in iPhone? I found two apps in some blogs, Ustream(working in iPhone) and QiK(working in jailbroken iPhone). And also i got some info from this link
http://sol3.typepad.com/tagalong_developer_journa/2009/07/recorded-video-from-iphone-3gs-.html
But i need some more info. Help me to develop a broadcasting app, please
We have a .net 2-tier application where a desktop program is talking to a database. We support MS SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 and Oracle 9, 10 and 11.
The application is sold, not as shrink-wrap, but pretty close. It is quite important for us that the installation and configuration is as easy as possible as installation instructions are usually supplied in written form to the customers internal IT-department. Our application is usually not seen as mission critical for the IT-department, so we need to keep their work down to a minimum.
Now we are starting to get wishes for a web application build on top of the same data. The web application will be hosted by us and delivered as a SaaS application.
Now the challenge is how to move data back and forth between the web application and the customers internal database. as I see it we have some requirements:
We must be ready to handle the situation where the customers database is not accessible from the DMZ. I guess the easiest solution is that all communication is initiated from inside the customers lan.
As little firewall configuration as possible. The best is if we can run without any special configuration as long as outgoing traffic from the customers lan are not blocked. If we need something changed in the firewall, we must be able to document that the change is secure.
It doesn't have to be real time. Moving data in batches every ten minutes or so is OK.
Data moves both ways, but not the same tables, so we don't have to support merges.
It would be nice if we don't have to roll our own framework completely.
Looking forward to hear your suggestions.
I have a ViewFlipper which contains a few linear layouts.
I need to allow the user to flip through them.
I've seen other apps which have arrow/triangle indicators on either side of the screen, which, when pressed, flips to the next view in the set.
I'd like to add these to my Activity.
When developing applications how much focus/time do you place on an application’s style vs. functionality. Battleship gray apps drive me insane. On the other hand maximizing a business application’s "style" can tax time and financial resources. Applications need to be appealing to resell or meet basic customer expectations, but defining a healthy medium can be difficult.
What would you say are reasonable "standards" for allocating develop time/resources should be dedicated to stylizing a business application?
In Salesforce you can set up various workflow processes or build API apps that send email. For most standard Salesforce orgs, there is a limit of 1000 emails per day. (e.g. see here)
I can't find any info on what happens after you reach the limit.
e.g. what sort of errors occur, and are administrators automatically notified?
I'm using the sfGuardDoctrine plugin, and I would like to customize the form validation messages.
How could I acomplish this? I can't find anything in the documentation.
The only way I have found is to copy sfGuardValidatorUser.class into /apps/frontend/lib/validator, but I would like to know if there is some way to just override the error message, not override the entire validator...
I'm looking into Productivity tools for developing in C# / Visual Studio 2008 (pr0) and developing web apps (not using MVC).
Anything from favourite visual studio shortcuts to external tools and plug-ins.
Hi....
I've an iPad app that supports all orientation... my problem was on the start up of the application.
In case of landScapeRight and landScapeLeft and portrait(top home button) the views shows correctly but when the app start in portrait (bottom home button) the views show in landscape mode...
I've implemented the
- (void) willRotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)toInterfaceOrientation duration:(NSTimeInterval)duration
- (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation
When I change the apps orientation the views shows correctly.
I am trying to launch an appstore page with either of the calls:
[[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/myappname/id999999999?mt=8"]];
[[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.itunes.com/apps/myappname"]];
Both of these urls work when I enter them in a browser. However, from both simulator and device, I get a "Your request could not be completed" error dialog right after it appears to try to launch the appstore.
Is there something obvious that I'm doing wrong?
I am looking for resources to develop HTML5 apps for iphone primarily. Are their frameworks and tools that I can use to get started? I am looking for:
Javascript frameworks that help with UI layout
Touch based controls for phones
Articles on iphone development, best practices, etc.
I searched stackoverflow and was not able to come up with a good list of resources. I am looking for examples like these http://jqtouch.com/
Several MS apps support the concept of chords, like "CTRL+X,Y" which means "holding down CTRL, press X, then Y".
Is this a bespoke thing they (and other companies) implement, or is it built into any APIs? It would be nice to be able to set up event handlers or accelerators based on chords rather than write code to do it.
I have made search about books dealing with developing apps for smart card using dot net framework but I havn't found any
If some one please know a name for a good book
please help me with it
I am writing a class that will convert a HTML document to a list of Paragrpahs that can be used with RichTextBlock in Windows 8 apps. I want to be able to give the class a list of Styles defined in XAML and the class will read useful properties from the style and apply them.
If I have a Windows.UI.XAML.Style style how do I read a property from it? I tried
var fontWeight = style.GetValue(TextElement.FontWeightProperty)
for a style defined in XAML with TargetProperty="TextBlock" but this fails with and exception
It kind of annoys me how small the iPad simulator is... Some apps I have in mind I have difficulty testing because of the small size of the iPad simulator. Is there anyway to make it larger than it currently is?
How do you compile a resource into the binary in XCode? That way is doesn't show up inside the application bundle as a file and it's not subject to manipulation by a user (whether good-intentioned or bad).
Is this even possible?
I'm particularly interested about this in terms of iPhone apps.
Any help is appreciated!
I want to make a .NET Form as a TopMost Form for another external App (not .NET related, pure Win32) so it stays above that Win32App, but not the rest of the apps running.
I Have the handle of the Win32App (provided by the Win32App itself), and I've tried Win32 SetParent() function, via P/Invoke in C#, but then my .NET Form gets confined into the Win32App and that's not what I want.
Is the ASP.NET 4.0 SQL session state mechanism backward-compatible with the ASP.NET 2.0 schema for session state, or should/must we create a separate and distinct session state database for our ASP.NET 4.0 apps?
I'm leaning towards the latter anyway, but the 2.0 database seems to just work, though I'm wondering if there are any substantive differences between the ASPState database schema / procedures between the 2.0 and 4.0 versions of ASP.NET. Thank you.
Is there an open source UIView component that supports multiple, dynamic tabbed views for the iPhone (iPad) SDK? I see several apps in the iPad App Store which utilize tabs, one such example is the Atomic Web Browser which provides a tabbed browsing experience (like Safari on the Mac or Firefox). Instead of reinventing this functionality, I'd like to reuse an existing component.
Is there a way to detect when a specific device is plugged into a usb port, what I would like to happen is when I plug my laptop into my docking station it run up several apps to account for my different keyboard, mouse and monitors. Specifically I have an issue with some software for my G15 keyboard stopping media player closing properly.
Hopefully in .NET but if not any suggestions appreciated.
I'm writing an iphone apps that receive data from an udp socket i can dispay what i receive using NSDATA description but is in hex format and for example it look like this:

i know that thi is a prase of compite sens how i can convert it ?
Has anyone made use of ASE (Android scripting enviroment) for anything other than proof of concept apps?
Is it worth studying?
Any feedback would be great.
