• IE8 ignoring background "no-repeat" value

  I have a page that uses a background image to do rounded corners, and in IE8 on Windows XP the background image repeats. http://j.mp/c5h1Hf It looks right in other browsers and even in "Compatability View" in IE8. Does anyone know how to remove the repetion? I'm stumped!

  Hey guys, I'm developing an extension for Safari 5 at the moment. In my extension, I use an additional toolbar, with selectboxes in it. Now, it would be great to style these like the folders in the bookmarks toolbar look. I know that it would be possible to replace my select with a completely styleable ul-list or somethin like that, but maybe there is a simpler solution.   I made a small webpage with a scrollable div. When I load it in a browser, it works fine. But when I load it in a webview inside Android, it doesn't let me scroll the div. Is there a workaround for this or do I have to use a different design? I am talking about websites like this.

• Safari box shadow inset support

  I have a box in one of my websites that has a these property: -moz-box-shadow:inset 0 0 50px #ecf4de; -webkit-box-shadow:inset 0 0 50px #ecf4de; box-shadow:inset 0 0 50px #ecf4de; This gives the box a nice gradient towards the center. However, Safari does not support the "inset" property and IE doesn't support box-shadow at all. I can't use an image for this because the height of this box changes for each situation. I don't want to use 3 images, (one for the top, a repeating one for the middle and one for the bottom), as this can get very messy code. So what I'm asking is if there is any way to produce the box shadow in all browsers.

  I'm launching a new site soon and would like to use one nice font (for headings etc). I've experimented with scripts like cufon and find them very disappointing. The way I see it I have to legal options: create my own font stacks using fonts that are licensed for @font-face (like fontsquirrel) subscribe to typekit use standard font stacks including some of MS Office's nicer fonts (not keen on!) I'm looking for comments from someone with experience here, not speculation please (i can do that myself!). Has anyone used typekit? Have you noticed any performance issues?

  Nasty little bug, this one. As illustrated in Android ticket 6721, the Android browser seems to not respect z-index when absolutely positioned elements are laid over the top of <a> or <input> tags.   I am trying to some-how set the valid HTML tags and attributes users would be able to use in WMD Editor in my site. For example, I want to forbid the user to directly set the font size, color, typeface and so on, which is trivial to do with the default settings typing something like: <span style="font-size: 45px; color:#FF0000">Some intrusive text here</span>. I think the way to implement this is through the "wmd_options", but I have not found any documentation or reference regarding this, giving the fact that the 'Options demo' seems to be the only public documentation and it does not show how should I do what I have described above.   I have a simple 2-column layout with a footer that clears both the right and left div in my markup. My problem is that I can't get the footer to stay at the bottom of the page in all browsers. It works if the content pushes the footer down, but that's not always the case. Update: It's not working properly in Firefox. I'm seeing a strip of background color below the footer when there's not enough content on the page to push the footer all the way down to the bottom of the browser window. Unfortunately, this is the default state of the page.

I tried ul#menu li.leaf a: hover {..}, ul#menu li.expanded a: hover {..} , but even in that case, when I hover above li.expanded, it's child inherits the style. How do I fix this?

• How do I resize a Google Map with JavaScript after it has loaded?

  I have a 'mapwrap' div set to 400px x 400px and inside that I have a Google 'map' set to 100% x 100%. So the map loads at 400 x 400px, then with JavaScript I resize the 'mapwrap' to 100% x 100% of the screen - the google map resizes to the whole screen as I expected but tiles start disappearing before the right hand edge of the page. Is there a simple function I can call to cause the Google map to re-adjust to the larger size 'mapwrap' div?
