• Keep remoting into wrong account. Windows 7

  I have a home theatre PC running with two users accounts on windows 7. The default account logs into locally. The account 'Paul' is present but is denied local log in so the default auto logs in locally. I am trying to remote into account Paul using RDC however it tries to log into the default account and I am presented with an an option to boot the present user off so I can log in. How do I specify which account I want to log into?

• Why do the GNOME symbolic icons appear darker in a running application?

  I'm creating an application that uses symbolic icons from the default theme. However, there are a few icons that I need that cannot be represented by those from the default theme, so I'm creating my own ones. What I did was to simply go to /usr/share/icons/gnome/scalable/actions/, copied a few locally into my app's source tree that could serve as a basis, and started editing them. So far so good. But I've noticed the following: all symbolic icons are of a light grey color when looking at the original .svg file, but when they are put onto a widget, they become darker. Here's an example, using the /usr/share/icons/gnome/scalable/actions/view-refresh-symbolic.svg icon from the default theme: Here's what it looks like when opening the original with Inkscape: And here's what it looks like on a toolbar on a running application: Notice the icon being much darker at runtime. That happens both with the Ambiance and Radiance themes. I wouldn't mind much, but I noticed it affects my custom icon, whereby parts of it become darker (the inner fill), whereas parts of it remain the same color as the original (the stroke). So what causes the default symbolic icons to darken and how should implement that for my custom icons?

Could you please guide me how I can fix HTML files' icons when FF3.6 is my default browser? Thanks. P.S: Whenever I set IE8 as my default browser the HTML files' icons were fixed.

  I'm creating my first proper PPA to patch a problem with Compiz. debbuild/dput works fine but Launchpad tells me it's only building it for Quantal. I've no interest in doing that for the minute - I'd like it to build for Precise. What do I need to do to get this done? Edit: I went into the package page in Launchpad and managed to copy the package I uploaded for another release, but is there a way of setting the default release(s) for a PPA?

• How to make routes on a windows 7 laptop persistent?

  I have a number of (windows 7) laptops that normally connect via wireless. We also have a wired network for special purposes. When one of these laptops plugs in to the wired network, at the moment, it makes the wired network the default route. Instead, I would like it to keep the wireless network the default, and route only 10...* through the wired. I can achieve this with: route delete 0.0.0.0 IF 22 route add 10.0.0.0 ... IF 22 (where IF 22 is the wired network interface). But how can I get this to stick? Currently, if the wired network is unplugged then re-plugged, it grabs the default route again. So I want a way of making the wireless network not get the default route, and to make the 10...* network persistent. Is there a hook to run commands after a network connection is established in windows? In linux I would use post-up hooks.

  i use said OS and i am missing a window or setting to set the default soundcard. I have a builtin analog soundcard which works just fine and is set as default, also i have a usb headset which works fine eg. with mumble i set input and output on my headset and it just works, also the mute button and volume control on the headset works, but on the default soundcard lol. what i am missing is to set my headset as the default soudcard. i also tried some stuff from there: http://wiki.debian.org/ALSA/ but it seems that alsa is not supported 100% :( some1 here to help? best regards

  we have set up a small IPv6 Testing network. The setup looks like this: ::/0 +----------+ | Firewall | Router to the public net +----------+ | 2001:...::/106 | +----------+ +-------| SIT GW | sit Tunnel gatway to the some test users | +----------+ | +----------+ | Test Sys | Testsystem +----------+ The idea is to advertise the default route from the firewall and the route for the SIT subnets from the sit gateway. The configurations for radvd are: # Firewall interface eth0 { AdvSendAdvert on; route ::/0 { }; }; # SIT Gatway interface eth0 { AdvSendAdvert on; route 2001:...::/106 { }; }; We have captured the adv. packages with tcpdump and the packages looks good. We see a default route from the fw, and the subnet route from the SIT gatway. But if we look on the testsystem there are two default routes over both gateways. There is no subnet route. The routing does not work of course.   I'm trying to find youtube video (just watched) in Firefox cache folder, but I cant find the folder. win xp sp3 Firefox 16.1 I tried C:\Documents and Settings\eDIN\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xp44aixq.default\Cache Also C:\Documents and Settings\eDIN\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\49mvq84u.default\Cache In this folder I found the png thumbnail of visited youtube page C:\Documents and Settings\eDIN\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\49mvq84u.default\thumbnails But, there is no video file. I also searched all files and folders arround (Default user, All users...etc). There is only one win user.

• NginX & Munin - Location and error 404

  I've a server that running nginx+php-fpm with this simple configuration: server { listen 80; server_name ipoftheserver; access_log /var/www/default/logs/access.log; error_log /var/www/default/logs/error.log; location / { root /var/www/default/public_html; index index.html index.htm index.php; } location ^~ /munin/ { root /var/cache/munin/www/; index index.html index.htm index.php; } location ~\.php$ { include /etc/nginx/fastcgi_params; fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; fastcgi_index index.php; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME /var/www/default/public_html$fastcgi_script_name; } } but when I open ipoftheserver/munin/ I recieve a 404 error (when I request ipoftheserver/ the files on /var/www/default/public_html are listened correctly) Munin is installed and works perfectly. If I remove this configuration and I use this another one all works good (but not in the /munin/ directory): server { server_name ipoftheserver; root /var/cache/munin/www/; location / { index index.html; access_log off; } } How to fix?   The problem is that when I ssh to my host with putty and enter user name, after that the password prompt delays. Found this is directly related to my iptables and can solve by changing default policy to ACCEPT. If default INPUT policy is ACCEPT, then password prompt is coming immediately. Mar 13 00:05:01 server-ubuntu sshd[6154]: Connection from 192.168.0.10 port 26304 Mar 13 00:05:06 server-ubuntu sshd[6154]: Failed none for acid from 192.168.0.10 port 26304 ssh2 However, if default INPUT policy is DROP, I got slight delay in getting password prompt after I enter username Mar 13 00:07:12 server-ubuntu sshd[6177]: Connection from 192.168.0.10 port 26333 Mar 13 00:07:35 server-ubuntu sshd[6177]: Failed none for acid from 192.168.0.10 port 26333 ssh2 For the second case, I tried to set default policy for FORWARD and OUTPUT chains to ACCEPT, but it didn't help. The only rule in this case is: -A INPUT -i eth1 -m mac --mac-source 00:26:XX:XX:XX:XX -j ACCEPT 00:26:XX:XX:XX:XX is the mac address from which I am trying to ssh to server's LAN(eth1). I'm sure there has to be some rule, which I can use while default INPUT chain policy is DENY in order to get password prompt immediately. I realize that the error message in the log is something normal and part of some verification procedure.

  I've been trying to reinstall MariaDB and have been encountering multiple issues, $ yum install Mariadb-Galera-server Error: Package: MariaDB-Galera-server-5.5.29-1.i386 (mariadb) Requires: galera Available: galera-23.2.4-1.rhel5.i386 (mariadb) galera galera = 23.2.4-1.rhel5 You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest there is a requirement that libssl.so.6 and libcrypto.ssl.6 are installed, these DO show up in my /lib64 and /lib though as linked items. /usr/lib -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1356700 Nov 23 2010 libcrypto.so.0.9.8e lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 Jun 28 12:03 libcrypto.so.6 -> libcrypto.so.0.9.8e -rwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 394272 Mar 18 14:22 libssl.so.1.0.1e lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 Jun 28 12:03 libssl.so.6 -> libssl.so.0.9.8e /usr/lib64 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1849680 Mar 18 14:21 libcrypto.so.1.0.1e lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 26 Jun 28 11:54 libcrypto.so.6 -> /lib64/libcrypto.so.1.0.1e -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 421712 Mar 18 14:21 libssl.so.1.0.1e lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Jun 28 11:54 libssl.so.6 -> /lib64/libssl.so.1.0.1e So the deps SHOULD be met, trying to $ yum install galera returns this Resolving Dependencies --> Running transaction check ---> Package galera.i386 0:23.2.4-1.rhel5 will be installed --> Restarting Dependency Resolution with new changes. --> Running transaction check ---> Package galera.i386 0:23.2.4-1.rhel5 will be installed --> Finished Dependency Resolution No errors? but no install either .... ? lets try wget and rpm'ing the package instead I guess? $ wget https://launchpad.net/galera/2.x/23.2.4/+download/galera-23.2.4-1.rhel5.x86_64.rpm $ rpm -ivh galera-23.2.4-1.rhel5.x86_64.rpm This issues the dreaded error: Failed dependencies: libcrypto.so.6()(64bit) is needed by galera-23.2.4-1.rhel5.x86_64 libssl.so.6()(64bit) is needed by galera-23.2.4-1.rhel5.x86_64 But we saw above these packages are here =( Whats going on?? Is openssl not installed? $ yum install openssl Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit Package 1:openssl-1.0.1e-4.fc18.x86_64 already installed and latest version Nothing to do Its there.... ??? wth Fedora?

• Software Center doesn't show files installed

  When I install a program in the Software Center that happens to install a menu option, it is discoverable through the menu, but if it is a package that is documentation, or command-line only, there is no simple way to discover how to actually access the content / software. Is there a way in the Software Center to see what files or executables were installed with a particular package so I can actually use / read it?

• Working with Active Directory and Windows Small Business Server 2008

  I have to say that in most of my time as a network engineer I have had the opportunity to play with servers, but mostly it's been to put our management software on, and that was about it. I have been a Systems Network Engineer for about three months now, and as such I have been respnosible for the configuration of our test devices... this being said, I have had to start working through how to configure and apply such things as GPO through a new forest, domain and OU. This being said I have configured about three different GPO's and applied them to different locations. The first laptop that I brought into the domain took the default Domain group Policy... this was cool, I got excited... then When I tried to bring in the second Laptop, it didn't take the policy. I looked at the configuration, and the default domain policy was applied to domain computers, however since the laptop resides in the SBS Computers of the OU that was created, SBS created individual policies for XP and Vista for that OU, which I was unaware of. So the default policy for that ou overrode the domain policy and none of the options that were defined in the Domain policy were applied... this being said, I am now working on putting the default Domain as an applicable policy in the OU, thus I won't have to reconfigure another policy to mirror the Domain Policy... here goes nothing!!!....
