• httpd.conf for case-insensitive file serving

  I'm a complete newbie with regard to managing Apache, so excuse me if I'm phrasing something incorrectly. I have a web site -- say, http://domain.com. The problem is that when I try to open http://domain.com/index.html in a web browser it displays the page, but when I attempt to access http://domain.com/Index.html (note capital I), it responds with HTTP 404. How do I configure Apache to serve both these files (and directories, for that matter) in a case-insensitive manner? Current httpd.conf is here. EDIT Dan C, thanks for a hint. I basically want to allow users to download files from my server and don't really want them to be aware that Index.html and index.html are in fact different. I'm also very willing to know as to what are the ramifications of this decision.

• Vista Enterprise doesn't find logon servers in a network with 802.1x authentication

  In a network with 802.1x configuration and a samba server configured in the domain, I have a radius server that delegates the authentication against the samba domain for users (using LDAP). The radius defines which VLAN the user is supposed to have access. I'm trying to put a Windows Vista Enterprise in the same network, but it attempts to logon the domain before authenticating against the network in 802.1x and it doesn't find any logon servers. In the radius logs I see the machine trying to authenticate with 'host/'. Does Vista enterprise require that I put it in a network with access to the logon server at that point?   I work in an industrial plant and we have one network(physical wire) that us used for both office usage and for process systems. The office computers are only used for typical office needs but occasionally do connect to the process computers to obtain information from a sql server or for some other purpose. A new initiative is in the works and is rolling down hill from corporate and that is to standardize how the the computers are used at work and they would be severely locked down and only a standard set of applications will be allowed to execute. one of the requirements is to also have non office computers isolated from the company domain. our non-office computers are a mix of Man-Machine interfaces and sql-servers all running software that non standard. My question is, how can we divorce the control systems computers from the company domain but still have access to the servers from the company domain. thanks

• Strange failure audit in 2003 R2 X64 SP2

  our server is running 2003 R2 X64 SP2, we keep seeing this in clusters of around 4 rapid fire. Sometimes 2 hours, sometimes around 8 hours apart with slight variations. I am also seeing the same blank username and domain in an account locked out message, I have tried disabling all scheduled tasks, if anyone has any idea please let me know! • Does Dynamic DNS require separate subdomains?

  Hello. I have a functioning DHCP/DNS (ISC Bind 9.6, DHCP 3.1.1) server running on Debian that I would like to add DynamicDNS functionality to. I have a pretty simple question: Does DynamicDNS require (or recommend) separate sub-domains? I have seen a few tutorials where the the clients that are acquiring their IP addresses and other networking information via DHCP are on a different sub-domain as the servers which are statically configured (both in terms of IP, and DNS). For example: All the clients are on ws.example.org and the servers on example.org. Right now all of our servers and clients are in the same domain (example.org) but spread across different zone files (because we have multiple subnets). The clients are configured with DHCP and the servers are configured statically. If I want to setup DynamicDNS for the clients should I use a separate sub-domain? What's the best practice here (and why or why not would it be a bad idea to do otherwise)? Thanks.

  I am not able to restart MySQL server on CENTOS 6.5 x86_64 kvm – server (WHM/cPanel). I am getting following error while trying to restart the MySQL server. I even restarted the server and tried again but same issue.

  We run over a hundred web applications (growing daily) on a LAMP stack using Apache2 on Ubuntu 10.04. We've would like all requests to static content to be cookieless. We host applications on many different domains, a majority of which as SaSS applications. Many of the domains host instances of the applications on sub domains, ie. myapp.example.com, myapp2.example.com myapp.otherexample.com etc.. At the moment all static content is server relative to the (sub)domain requesting it. As far as I understand the process, I would need to setup a new domain, eg. staticexample.com. In this case is special configuration in the virtual host for this domain required to ensure no cookies are served? Also, would it be possible to instead use static.example.com? In this case what configurations would I need in my virtual host for this subdomain to ensure no cookies are served?

  Is there a tool or a trick to easily duplicate a windows profile? My problem is that I have a local user profile and I like to copy that for another user. Additionaly that profile was created locally when a domain-user logged in, and I like to create a copy of that profile for a non-domain-user. Hope it's clear what my problem is. • Developer Laptop with SQL Server 2008 can't login to SSIS when offsite

  When I bring my Windows XP (SP3) laptop home I can still login as my domain account because Windows caches the info necessary to authenticate me when the domain controller isn't around. However, when I try to connect to Integration Services from within SQL Server Management Studio, it generates SSPI context errors. The only way it works is if I connect to the office with VPN or if I'm at the office where the domain controller is. I have both SQL Server Agent and SQL Server Integration Services 10 running under local computer accounts. It seems that the only option to connect to Integration Services from within Management Studio is to use Window authentication. Is there any way to do this when I'm not connected to the office? Why don't these services use the cached info just like Windows Login? Thanks.

• Reduce Windows DNS Service caching on Window

  I'm struggling with DNS caching issues on a Windows based LAN. I've noticed that if I change a DNS record on a domain hosted by a 3rd party nameserver, that I always seem to be the very last person to see the change happen. I can often query the domain using a service which checks propagation around the world like www.whatsmydns.net but I usually find that all other DNS servers are correct and it's only my own server which has the old IP - even 8-12 hours later. This is an issue for us as we're website developers and often making changes to DNS records so these huge delays are frustrating. It seems to be because our primary domain controller server (+Active Directory & DNS) on our LAN (which is also our local DNS server) caches records for AGES (Way beyond it's published TTL). How can I stop the Windows DNS server from caching, or reduce the caching to only an hour or so?

  I have a windows server 2012 with hyper-v added as a feature. I have created a server 2012 and a windows 8 guest machines. The windows 8 machine has internet connectivity and can successfully be added to our AD domain. I can log in to the domain on this guest machine with an AD account. However the server 2012 guest machine cannot be joined to the domain and does not have internet connectivity. Strangely enough (to me!). Is there any special settings/config that I should be doing/have missed?!

  I'm using Windows 8 on a domain (using a domain account not a Microsoft account) connecting to Exchange, all my Contacts were outlook contacts with pictures and other data, I could see the picture of the contact in the reading pane and people pane while using Outlook 2010. After the upgrade to Outlook 2013 I can see my outlook contacts but it appears that they are unavailable in the reading pane because all i can see is the default picture (the default picture picture is also visible in the notifications). If I put the mouse over the name of the people while in the reading pane all I can see is the card with the default info (the only data is that the contact is available in the next 8 hours), if i compose a new message and hover the name of the contact i can see the card with all the data (picture, company, etc.). Is this the default behavior in Outlook 2013 if you are in a domain and not connected to any service or there is a way to show the picture of my contacts in every part of outlook?

• IIS7 301 permanent redirect from billarga.com.au to billarga.com

  Using IIS7 GUI, I have placed a 301 permanent redirection from billarga.com.au to billarga.com and left the other behaviours unchecked (want relative redirect). As soon as I apply the redirect on the .com.au, the same redirect appears for the .com domain. Why? I don't understand why changing one will do the same to the other. Has it got something to do with both using the same bindings? Each domain uses two bindings, one with www and the other without. My aim is to condense all traffic and google listings to the one domain, but still be able to use the .com.au for appearance purposes in the url (for aussies). Any help with this is appreciated!

  I am running a FreeBSD server and I want to redirect a specific website domain to another domain including subdirectory. I want to bypass that domain to alter the XML results it returns. I tried the hosts file solution, but that way I can only redirect to an IP address without subdir. So that's no solution. Is there another way to solve this? Installing something on the server if needed is not a problem. Unless it's a heavy program.

  First off apologies, I'm from a medical background not a networking one, but I've got roped into setting up a windows 2008 server. So far web server running, fixed IP address assigned (within a large private network of the National Health Service in the UK if that makes any difference) and the network team have assigned a DNS entry for me which works, so the server can be addressed as nww.myserver.nhs.uk I've only got ports open on the router for 80 and 443 (http and https) at the moment, so presume I need a different port to enable email services. My need is to be able to accept an email to the domain name like [email protected] in order to pick up a confirmation mail from an SSL issuer (Comodo) I guess to confirm that I control the domain. After that I don't actually need mail services on the server. I see lots of stuff about setting up SMTP services but thought that was about mail out and re-routing, but how do you get the server to "listen" for mail to the domain (assuming I open port xyz or whatever it is) ?

Situation: I have an application which looks up the IP of the target domain via DNS and then connects via HTTP to the IP address. I do not have control over any proxy settings. Option 1 Basically I am looking for a way to: intercept DNS requests for a domainA.com launch a DNS request for a domainB.com serve the IP of domainB.com in response to the request for domainA.com Without running an entire DNS server. Option 2 If a DNS server is the only way, in the alternative I would also be happy with an solution to how to define a non-standard DNS-server for a single application. • Cannot access Network Shares on Windows Server 2008 running VisualSVN Server

  I have installed VisualSVN server on Windows Server 2008. The server is part of a domain but not the domain controller, it is just a data server and now an SVN server. VisualSVN uses port 80 and can only be access from inside the network (i do i by going to the dns name of the server). However, ever since i have installed this, other computers on the network can no longer access the shared folders on the server EXCEPT the domain controller which has no problems accessing the shares. I am stumped, i am guessing it is something to do with Apache running and not using host-headers (or whatever the Apache equivalent may be) but just being bound to the servers DNS name or IP. Any suggestions?

  I seem to have an issue with our AD/DNS, the structure looks like: but the BPA gives me an error: Issue: The Active Directory integrated DNS zone _msdcs.<domain> was not found. Impact: DNS queries for the Active Directory integrated zone _msdcs.<domain> might fail. Resolution: Restore the Active Directory integrated DNS zone _msdcs.<domain> Now we've got 4 DC's in total: 2 running Server 2008 R2, 2 running Server 2003. The older ones will be retired sometime this year. Actually everything seems to be working ok (if something isn't then we don't know about it), we've got quite a few .NET applications authenticating against AD, no DNS issues from what I can tell and various bits on the network point to all 4 controllers. Furthermore a dcdiag /dnsall comes up with all passes. Is this something I should be worried about?

• Configuring a Unified Communications Certificate for many virtual hosts running in Jetty

  I have a single IP with Jetty serving up X sites on port 80. Basically you can sign up for our service, then point your domain www.mycompany.com to that IP, and Jetty will serve up your custom site. I would like to add SSL support for all sites. To simplify things, I've looked at getting a single Unified Communications Certificate to plug into Jetty and have it work for all sites. Is this possible? Has anyone done this before? Does Jetty only support traditional, single-domain certs? What issues might I run in to compared to a single-domain cert?

• Setting up DNS in WHM/cPanel

  I don't understand what I'm doing wrong, but I'm sure this is a simple fix. I setup WHM/cPanel for the first time on my VPS and understand how DNS works for the most part (or so I thought). I created under the main domain name 2 nameservers (ns1.maindomain.com & ns2.maindomain.com). I have 2 IP address for my sever so each one points to a unique IP: ns1.maindomain.com => 198.x.x.204 ns2.maindomain.com => 198.x.x.205 I also set up reverse DNS with my hosting provider. When I put in my two nameservers under another domain (secondary domain), GoDaddy states that the nameservers are invalid. Any ideas on why this is or any configurations in cPanel that need to be made?
