• Compact web server with Lua support?

  Hello, I need to find a very compact, cross-platform web server that can run Lua scripts, ie. either a regular web server like Mongoose that will forward queries to a Lua program in eg. FastCGI, or a web server itself written in Lua which will save the need to provide a separate web server. I recently started learning about Lua so am still in the dark about what is available out there, save for the three I came accross: Barracuda Embedded Web Server http://barracudaserver.com/ba/doc/ Xavante - Lua HTTP 1.1 Web server http://keplerproject.github.com/xavante/ Haserl http://haserl.sourceforge.net/ If someone's already done this recently, what solution would you recommend along with any tutorial/article that would get me started? • Get last element of pipeline in powershell

  Hi, This might be weird, but stay with me. I want to get only the last element of a piped result to be assigned to a varaiable. I know how I would do this in "regular" code of course, but since this must be a one-liner. More specifically, I'm interested in getting the file extension when getting the result from an FTP request ListDirectoryDetails. Since this is done within a string expansion, I can't figure out the proper code. Currently I'm getting the last 3 hars, but that is real nasty. • How to index and search .doc files

  I have an application that needs to have .doc files uploaded to it. These documents should then be index and the whole collection of documents should be searchable. This will run on a Windows Server, without Word installed, using IIS and SqlServer, but I'd rather not be tied to SqlServer's full text indexing. I was thinking of using Lucene.Net for the indexing part and was wondering what the best way to get the text out of the .doc files would be. I could probably extract the text by reading in the whole stream and then using a regEx to pull out any regular characters, but that seems hefty and prone to error. I saw an article on using iFilters that sounds promising, but I thought I'd put this out there since it's not something I'm familiar with. P.S. If it matters, these .doc files will have mail-merge fields in them and there's no other current alternative for the .doc format.

• Use matching value of a RegExp to name the output file.

  I have this file "file.txt" which I want to split into many smaller ones. Each line of the file has an id field which looks like "id:1" for a line belonging to id 1. For each id in the file, I like to create a file named idid.txt and put all lines that belong to this id in that file. My brute force bash script solution reads as follows. count=1 while [ $count -lt 19945 ] do cat file.txt | grep "id:$count " >> ./sets/id$count.txt count='expr $count + 1' done Now this is very inefficient as I have do read through the file about 20.000 times. Is there a way to do the same operation with only one pass through the file? - What I'm probably asking for is a way to use the value that matches for a regular expression to name the associated output file.

• How can the last command's wall time be put in the Bash prompt?

  Is there a way to embed the last command's elapsed wall time in a Bash prompt? I'm hoping for something that would look like this: [last: 0s][/my/dir]$ sleep 10 [last: 10s][/my/dir]$ Background I often run long data-crunching jobs and it's useful to know how long they've taken so I can estimate how long it will take for future jobs. For very regular tasks, I go ahead and record this information rigorously using appropriate logging techniques. For less-formal tasks, I'll just prepend the command with time. It would be nice to automatically "time" every single interactive command and have the timing information printed in a few characters rather than 3 lines.

I don't see a difference between images and fonts, so I want to keep them under the same directory - app/assets.

• Why is my Scala function returning type Unit and not whatever is the last line?

I am confused on how this works. Any ideas? Much appreciated.

  Hi! I have a couple of tables (mySQL) that i would like to update with the help of Doctrine. The products table id is auto-incrementing, and here's a brief description on what I would like to do: $prod = new Products(); $prod->type = '0'; $categ = new CategoriesToProducts(); $categ->cat = '111'; $categ->product = $prod->id; $conn = Doctrine_Manager::connection(); $conn->flush(); How can I do this while using flush? Using a regular save is an alternative, but there will be multiple transactions while doing such. I have tried to find a Mysql_insert_id version for doctrine, but without any luck. Thanks!

  I'd like to create a regular expression that will match and return based on the following criteria: 1) I have N search terms entered by a user 2) I have a body of text. 3) I want to return a list of all the occurrences of all the search terms entered by the user plus surrounding context. I think (\w+\W+){,4}(", ")(\W+\w+){,4} might work. 4) I don't know how to use RegexKitLite at all. Do I invoke a RegexKitLite class? or does it interface into NSString somehow?

• Django design question: extending User to make users that can't log in

  The site I'm working on involves teachers creating student objects. The teacher can choose to make it possible for a student to log into the site (to check calendars, etc) OR the teacher can choose to use the student object only for record keeping and not allow the student to log in. In the student creation form, if the teacher supplies a username and a password, it should create an object of the first kind - one that can log in, i.e. a regular User object. If the teacher does not supply a username/password, it should create the second type. The other requirement is that the teacher should be able to go in later and change a non-logging-in student to the other kind. What's the best way to design for this scenario? Subclass User and make username and password not required? What else would this affect?

• How do I get PyLint to find namespace packages?

  I have a virtualenv where I've installed two packages, both using the company.project_name namespace. So the first package is importable from company.project_name.one and the second from company.project_name.two. The challenge is that I can't seem to be able to run PyLint on either one of them. If I issue: $ pylint company.project_name.one I get: ************* Module company.project_name.one F: 1, 0: No module named project_name.one(fatal) I suspect that I'm probably doing something wrong. Is there a proper way to do this? Edit: I should have made it clear that company.project_name and company are namespace packages and not regular packages.

• aacplus frame alignment problems

  I have an application that rips aac+ audio streams, cutting them at every regular interval (i.e. 10 minutes). Sometimes files are playable OK, but sometimes, Windows Media Player just closes when trying to build DirectShow graph. I am using Orban aacplus plugin, and it works under directshow. When I play this file with winamp or vlc, that have it's own aacplus decoding engine, it works fine. However, I need it to work under directshow. Anyway, problematic file is here: http://www.videophill.com/files/00272-20100418100002.aac I know that there is frame alignment error and I confirmed my theory by filling first 256 bytes with 0x00, tried to play it again, and it worked. Is there any info on aacplus frames available on the web, so I can try to find the beginning of the frame manually and cut the rest off?

  Hi, I know how to find the centroid (center of mass) of a regular polygon. This assumes that every part of the polygon weighs the same. But how do I calculate the centroid of a weightless polygon (made from aerogel perhaps :), where each vertex has a weight? Simplified illustration of what I mean using straight line: 5kg-----------------5kg ^center of gravity 10kg---------------5kg ^center of gravity offset du to weight of vertices Of course, I know how to calculate the center of gravity on a straight line with weighted vertices, but how do I do it on a polygon with weighted vertices? • k-means clustering in R on very large, sparse matrix?

  Hello, I am trying to do some k-means clustering on a very large matrix. The matrix is approximately 500000 rows x 4000 cols yet very sparse (only a couple of "1" values per row). The whole thing does not fit into memory, so I converted it into a sparse ARFF file. But R obviously can't read the sparse ARFF file format. I also have the data as a plain CSV file. Is there any package available in R for loading such sparse matrices efficiently? I'd then use the regular k-means algorithm from the cluster package to proceed. Many thanks

• oracle display for every stored procedure the execution time

  Hi all. I'm working on a stored procedure. Inside this one, there are many call to the other stored procedures. There are a bunch of them. I was wondering if there is a option to be able to have the execution time of every stored procedure involved, every function (with a start and end time, ior something like that). The idea is that I need to optimise it and I should touch every part, and since I not sure where is the longest execution time, is a bit difficult. And after a modification I would like the see the hole process if it's shorter or not. If I call the procedure from unix, using sql plus, I have no log. If I call it from TOAD, it's blocked until the end. Any idea? I'm not a dba, so I don't have many rights on the database, I'm just a regular user. Thanks for any advice. C.C.

Instead of having WebKit retrieve scripts, CSS files and images via URLs, I want my application to provide them (e.g. retrieved from a database). For example, a "regular" web page may contain this tag: <IMG src="photos/album1/123456.jpg"> Instead of WebKit fetching this image from a server or the file system, I would prefer some kind of callback that allows my application to provide this image. So for example I want to insert spaces into it using the range function in these steps: range(0,27,2).   Can you have a parent class shared pointer return type of a function and then return a new child class without it being a shared pointer? I'm not sure how shared pointers work in these situations, do they act like a regular pointer? Here is my example: BaseEventPtr Actions::getEvent(const std::string& nodeName) { if(asLowerCaseString(nodeName) == "action") return new ActionEvent(&m_interface); return nullptr; } ActionEvent is the subclass of BaseEvent in this situation.   I am using bootstrap on my site and am having issues with the navbar fixed top. When I am just using the regular navbar, everything is fine. However, when i try to switch it to navbar fixed top, all the other content on the site shifts up like the navbar isn't there and the navbar overlaps it. here's basically how i laid it out: .navbar.navbar-fixed-top .navbar-inner .container .container .row //yield content i tried to copy bootstraps examples exactly but still having this issue only when using navbar fixed top. what am I doing wrong?

  How should I manage memory in my mission critical embedded application? I found some articles with google, but couldn't pinpoint a really useful practical guide. The DO-178b forbids dynamic memory allocations, but how will you manage the memory than? preallocate everything in advance and send a pointer to each function that needs allocation? Allocate it on the stack? Use a global static allocator (but then it's very similar to dynamic allocation)? Answers can be of the form of regular answer, reference to a resource, or reference to good opensource embedded system for example. clarification: The issue here is not whether or not memory management is availible for the embedded system. But what is a good design for an embedded system, to maximize reliability.

  Transparent persistence allows you to use regular objects instead of a database. The objects are automatically read from and written to disk. Examples of such systems are Gemstone and Rucksack (for common lisp). Simplified version of what they do: if you access foo.bar and bar is not in memory, it gets loaded from disk. If you do foo.bar = baz then the foo object gets updated on disk. Most systems also have some form of transactions, and they may have support for sharing objects across programs and even across a network. For some reason the function won't validate this IP as valid: 203.81.192.26 I'm not too great with regular expressions, so would appreciate any help on what could be wrong.
