    In my JSF/Facelets application, I want to dynamically generate a breadcrumb trail from a list of page IDs using a custom tag: <foo:breadcrumbs trail="foo,bar,baz"/> This should generate something like: <h:commandLink action="foo" ... /> <h:commandLink action="bar" ... /> <!-- (etc.) --> My code looks something like this: <ui:repeat value="#{fn:split(trail, ',')}" var="key"> <h:commandLink action="#{key}" ... /> </ui:repeat> The problem with this code is that #{key} is interpreted as a method binding. However, I just want the string value of #{key} to be returned as the navigation outcome. How can I achieve this? The only thing I could think of was creating a dummy managed-bean that has an outcome field and an action handler, and invoke it like so: <h:commandLink action="#{dummy.click}" ...> <f:setPropertyActionListener target="#{dummy.outcome}" value="#{key}" /> </h:commandLink> with the dummy class defined like so: public class Dummy { private String outcome; public String click() { return outcome; } public void setOutcome(String outcome) { this.outcome = outcome; } public void getOutcome() { return outcome; } } That seems ugly though, and I don't know if it would work.

I have a script that calls this script using jQuery's ajax function but I'm not getting a proper response. With regular expressions using C# how do i write an regex that takes the value directly behind the key? I know i could write it in such a way it will match the first DUMMY but i cant think of how to make the VALUE instead.

    I've run into a strange problem. The following simplified code reproduces the problem in MSVC 2010 Beta 2: template <typename T> struct dummy { static T foo(void) { return T(); } }; int main(void) { typedef dummy<bool> dummy_type; auto x = [](void){ bool b = dummy_type::foo(); }; // auto x = [](void){ bool b = dummy<bool>::foo(); }; // works } The typedef I created locally in the function doesn't seem to be visible in the lambda. If I replace the typedef with the actual type, it works as expected. Here are some other test cases: // crashes the compiler, credit to Tarydon int main(void) { struct dummy {}; auto x = [](void){ dummy d; }; } // works as expected int main(void) { typedef int integer; auto x = [](void){ integer i = 0; }; } I don't have g++ 4.5 available to test it, right now. Is this some strange rule in C++0x, or just a bug in the compiler? From the results above, I'm leaning towards bug. Though the crash is definitely a bug. For now, I have filed two bug reports. All code snippets above should compile. The error has to do with using the scope resolution on locally defined scopes. (Spotted by dvide.) And the crash bug has to do with... who knows. :) Update According to the bug reports, they have both been fixed for the next release of Visual Studio 2010.

I'm a total newbie to Cake and not much better with apache; I've done a lot of PHP but always with a server that's already been set up by someone else. So I'm going through the basic blog tutorial, and it says: A Note On mod_rewrite Occasionally a new user will run in to mod_rewrite issues, so I'll mention them marginally here. If the Cake welcome page looks a little funny (no images or css styles), it probably means mod_rewrite isn't functioning on your system. Here are some tips to help get you up and running: Make sure that an .htaccess override is allowed: in your httpd.conf, you should have a section that defines a section for each Directory on your server. Make sure the AllowOverride is set to All for the correct Directory. Make sure you are editing the system httpd.conf rather than a user- or site-specific httpd.conf. For some reason or another, you might have obtained a copy of CakePHP without the needed .htaccess files. This sometimes happens because some operating systems treat files that start with '.' as hidden, and don't copy them. Make sure your copy of CakePHP is from the downloads section of the site or our SVN repository. Make sure you are loading up mod_rewrite correctly! You should see something like LoadModule rewrite_module libexec/httpd/mod_rewrite.so and AddModule mod_rewrite.c in your httpd.conf." I'm using XAMPP on linux. I've found my httpd.conf file in opt/lampp/ etc, but am not sure what I need to do with it. I've searched for "rewrite", and there's only one line: LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so There's nothing about AddModule mod_rewrite.c. Do I just create a Directory section for the directory I've installed Cake in and set AlllowOverride to All? (I created a separate subdirectory of my wwwroot and installed in there, since I also have installs of Joomla and CodeIgniter.) Is there anything else I need to do? My download of Cake did come with two htaccess-type files (._.htaccess and .htaccess) - do I need to do anything with them? Thanks for any help you can provide to this non-server-admin.     I need to add some code to the EndInit method of a PictureBox control but unfortunately its private and, from what I can gather, I can't shadow it and call base - at least not in VB.Net. What I can do is add a dummy property to my picture box class. The type of the dummy property is simply a class that just implements ISupportInitialize. However, that doesn't work, I need the dummy class to inherit from Control. Is that the minimum requirement?

WHAT I HAVE DONE: using windbg to start dummy.exe, and set breakpoint on ws2_32!bind when the breakpoint hit, i changed the parameter (port value) with command ew this dummy.exe will bind to the new port, and worked well.     I have been able to create little animations with the storyline in Blend. And I have been able to copy in the isolated storylines and triggers into existing projects in visual studio to spruce them up on the edges a little bit. But after adding too many animations, they start to conflict or cancel each other out, etc., or I can make a panel slide down and slide it back up, then it no longer can slide down since it is not in its original state anymore. Does anyone have any links, video tutorials, books, resources which not only show you how to make a little animation and then leave you to figure out how to integrate numerous animations into a typical business application layout, but instead take you through the whole process of building a business application while integrating animations and WPF goodness with Blend and Visual Studio?

    I'm just learning WPF. I'm using VS 2008. I've added an Image control to my XAML, and I added a GIF file to the project. If I use the XAML Designer's property panel to set the image's Source property, the drop-down list for the Source property contains the following: C:\Sample Project;component/pinHorizontal.gif There are several problems with this: My project, named "Sample Project," is not in the root of my drive. Why is ";component" in there? If I select this value as given, I get the error "Property value is not valid" (yeah, no kidding). If I go into the XAML source and set the Source property manually, like so: The XAML Designer gives me this error: "The file pinHorizontal.gif is not part of the project or its 'Build Action' property is not set to 'Resource'." Why is this task so difficult? How do I assign an image source?
