  • Strange margin-behaviour with Sifr spans in link (screens)

    I'm making a menu and it's supposed to look like picture nr 1 on this link. However, at this moment, it looks like picture nr 2. There's no logic in this behaviour, since all three elements have the same css-attributes. Moreover, let's change the word "Reiki" to "Psychotherapie" and see what happens... (picture nr 3) For some reason the word "Reiki" ignores certain attributes. This is not a problem when Sifr is turned off. I guess I'll need some extra CSS to solve this (messing with paddings, heights or margins on that specific element doesn't give any result. It just won't budge). Unless someone knows a more elegant solution?

  • Why has Foundation 4 made its grid classes less natural and readable?

    The Background I love responsive CSS grids. I hate Bootstrap's complex class names. I fell in love with Foundations human readable class names. The Problem With Foundation 4, they have changed four columns to large-4 small-4 columns and in my opinion this makes the HTML markup less clear. This style of CSS class names is exactly why I switched from Bootstrap to Foundation. The Question What advantage is gained by Foundation 4's Grid in making this change? It seems that you can have a different grid layout on smaller screens via media queries, but I can't think of a design that would require this. Note: I've been focused on native mobile development and therefore I may be missing out on recent best practices.

    IE displays a default scrollbar on the page, which appears even if the content is too short to require a scrollbar. The typical way to remove this scrollbar (if not needed), is to add this to your css: HTML { height: 100%; overflow: auto; } I'm trying to do the same thing in javascript (without requiring that in my CSS), but i can't seem to find a way to get access to the html element. I know i can access the body element with document.body, but that doesn't seem to be sufficient, i need the wrapping html element. Any tips?

    Hi, I want to keep tabs on the number of concurrent users of my application. I therefore log a time_start and a time_stop. If I now want to query the database for the maximum number of logged on users and return the start date, how would I do that. The table looks like this: id | time_start | time_stop ----+---------------------+--------------------- 1 | 2010-03-07 05:40:59 | 2010-03-07 05:41:33 2 | 2010-03-07 06:50:51 | 2010-03-07 10:50:51 3 | 2010-02-21 05:20:00 | 2010-03-07 12:23:44 4 | 2010-02-19 08:21:12 | 2010-03-07 12:37:28 5 | 2010-02-13 05:52:13 | Where time_stop is empty the user is still logged on. In this case I would expect to see 2010-03-07 returned, since all users (5) were logged on at that moment. However if I would run the query with 'where time_start BETWEEN '2010-02-17' AND '2010-02-23' I would expect to see 2010-02-21 with a maximum of 2.   • Reordering Lists like playlists in the media player

    Hi, I have a list of items that are displayed using a ListView from a SQLCursor. The SQL table includes(as well as other things) a _id field and an order field. I use the order field to sort the list before it gets to the ListView. What I need is a widget like the MediaPlayer has in its playlist view. It allows you to click the icon and drag the item in the playlist around and put it into a new order. With that ability I can then retrieve the new order and update the SQL table with the new order. However, I am not having any luck finding any clues to help me add that functionality into my program. The question is whether I can use existing functions to help me, or do I need to manually program motion events and such until I get nearly the same functionality.

  • Need to dynamically-generate a "sticky note" text

    Working on a website that has an image of a sticky note which will change text somewhat frequently (every month or so) as new "todo" items are created on it. Font I'm currently using is not Web Safe and the text is slightly angled to match the skew of the sticky note as well. Now I'm a pragmatist, and in situations like this I would normally secede defeat and opt for something more CSS/HTML practical. But no more! I'm falling a bit behind on what's going on with HTML5, CSS3, PNG graphics, Flash (ugh), and/or any other rich visuals. I'm decent with PHP/CSS/JS (jquery), have dabbled in Flash/actionscript too. My question is: what tools/method should I be looking at here?

  • Nested and complicated select statement

    What i want to do here is simple...display an ivestigators ID and him corresponding name... That can be easily done from the users table by selecting based on the user type. However i want to select only some type of investigators. The analogy here is investigators are assigned to an exhibit for them to investigate. One investigator can be assigned to a maximum of 3 cases only. Now during the assigning of investigators, i want to write a select statement that would retrieve only investigatorID's that have been assigned to less than or equal to 2 cases. I have included exhibit and users table that shows sample data below. Now i sort of have an idea that i will have to first of all pick out all the investigators by their ID from the users list and then filter them through the exhibit table by dropping those assigned to 3 cases and leaving just those with two cases. then afterwards i use this IDs to select the Investigators name. the big questions is how do i write the statement??

  • HTML 5 Video Error Media Src Not Supported

    So I was working on a toy website (http://nirmalpatel.com/yeah/index.html). If you check the source, you can see that I have linked a m4v and ogg version. When I load this page from my own computer using a url that starts with file:// the page works fine in Safari, Chrome and Firefox. However, after I upload all of the videos and the HTML to my server Firefox stops working. I don't think it's a permissions issue as both videos have the same permission.

    I am trying to place two images of the same size side-by-side. If I use a "table" then I am able to display both images side-by-side. But in my CSS Stylesheet I am using a custom format for the table and this shows on the page containing the images too. But I want to just display both images without any custom background or border etc. I tried using "div", "span", "ul" & "li" etc. but failed in each case. How can I place two images (of same size) in a single line, without using a "table"?     Im trying to achieve current page highlights on wordpress similar to this site Alex Soth. I'm very nearly there with my css. At present i have current page highlights on pages, ie. home,calendar, projects. However when it come to current page highlights on child pages i have a problem. the indented child page list appears on hover when selecting a child page, but after page selection the menu reverts back to the standard pages menu with no visible child menus? unlike the link to the Alex Soth site where the extended menu stays and current page is highlighted I know that the answer will be a simple piece of css involving current_page_item and possible position:relative to obtain the menu staying visible after selection. But i can for the life of me work it out. Can this be done without using RewriteBase?

  • IE - hidden radio button not checked when the corresponding label is clicked

    I just noticed a strange behaviour in IE7. I have radio buttons with associated labels as follows: <input type="radio" name="filter" id="filter_1" value="Activities" checked="checked" /> <label for="filter_1">Activities</label> <input type="radio" name="filter" id="filter_2" value="Services" /> <label for="filter_2">Services</label> The radio button is hidden via css with display:none or visibility: hidden (don't ask) The problem is - when I click the label in IE7 (haven't looked at other IE versions yet) the associated radio button is not actually checked. I confirmed this with jquery - the label click event is fired, but the radio button click event is not. A form post also confirms that the checked radio button does not change. This works correctly in firefox, and also works correctly if I remove the CSS that hides the radio buttons. Is this an IE bug or am I missing something?

  • Flash Media Server dynamic file naming

    I'm trying to figure out most efficient/safe way to name recorded streams on FMS. The case is to get listing of recorded streams from the server (eg. rec_001, rec_002...) and dynamically add rec_003 filename to the new stream that is being recorded. I'm thinking about either using FMS File Object and put everything in array of files every time I start recording procedure or to create XML file that would serve as a database of file names. I'm searching for a solution efficient for MULTIPLE connections at a time and large amount of files. Which one of presented would be the best for this purpose? Or do you have any better suggestions of solving this problem?
