  • jQuery resize width on firefox

    - by LM35DT
    I'm doing some experiments with jquery n widths for a liquid column and I'm not sure why it isn't working on firefox. It works fine on IE6,7,8 Chrome, Opera(sluggish). I found some articles about firefox not recognizing the .resize attribute but no explanation/solution =\ $(document).ready(function(){ $(midCol).width((window,$(window).width()) - 470) $(window).resize(function(){$(midCol).width((window,$(window).width()) - 470) }) });

  • What's the PHP framework equivalent of jQuery?

    - by Cortopasta
    jQuery made javascript so easy for me, I was able to get up and running in a couple of hours doing most tasks. Which PHP framework has similar ease of use and rapid development/write less ability? Or am I stuck basically learning a new language no matter what framework I decide on?

  • Reading server-side XML with JavaScript and jQuery

    - by Nick Lowman
    Hello, this is quite a simple question hopefully. Our client currently has a Flash banner ad on their site which they can change the text size, colour, position etc. by editing an XML file. They want to scrap flash and use JavaScript and jQuery. Now, as long as the XML file is at a readable URL I should be able make an AJAX request for the file and use it. Is that correct? Many thanks

  • JQuery Validation - Wrap offending field in a div.

    - by Samuurai
    Hi, It's my first time using StackOverFlow and first time trying to set up jQuery Validation. It's displaying <label> tags with the error messages as default behaviour, however the way my CSS is set up I need a div to wrap around the offending element and a message display in <p> tags. Without errors, my html looks like this: <div class="grid-26 append-2"> <p class="noMarginBottom"> <label>First Name</label> <div class="jNiceInputWrapper"> <div class="jNiceInputInner"> <input type="text" class="text jNiceInput" name="name"/> </div> </div> </p> <span class="clear"/> </div> And with Errors, it needs to look like this - Note the div with class "error" and the <p> tag. <div class="grid-26 append-2"> <div class="error"> <p>Please write your real name</p> <p class="noMarginBottom"> <label>First Name</label> <div class="jNiceInputWrapper"> <div class="jNiceInputInner"> <input type="text" class="text jNiceInput" name="name"/> </div> </div> </p> <span class="clear"/> </div> </div> My Validation code is very basic. $(document).ready(function(){ $("#contact_form").validate({ rules:{ name: { required: true } } }); }); This is my first venture into jQuery and form validation, so I'll be the first to say "I'm lost!" any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Javascript/jQuery get external CSS value

    - by Acorn
    Is it possible to get a value from the external CSS of a page if the element that the style refers to has not been generated yet? (the element is to be generated dynamically). The jQuery method I've seen is $('element').css('property','value');, but this relies on element being on the page. Is there a way of finding out what the property is set to within the CSS rather than the computed style of an element?

  • JQuery class selectors like $(.someClass) are case sensitive?

    - by Justin Grant
    Given this HTML: <div class="OpenIDSelector">some text</div> Why does this JQuery selector match it on some browsers and some pages, but not on others? $('.OpenIdSelector) NOTE: I ran into this problem and solved it myself, but it was annoying and I didn't find it on StackOverflow already, so I'm posting it as a Q&A pair so someone else won't waste an hour like I did.
