• Apache fop-0.95 error on FopFactory.newInstance() command

  I am using Apache fop-0.95 to build pdf files from a JSP web application on IBM iSeries V5R4 using Websphere 6.0. Everything works perfect in my development using Websphere Development Studio client. When I put the application on the server, I get an error at this line. FopFactory fopFactory = FopFactory.newInstance(); The error is: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: javax/imageio/ImageIO Does anyone know how I can fix this error? All of the fop class files are part of the EAR file. The files were installed to the projects \WEB-INF\lib directory. I have added the fop jar files to the classpath, using the admin console. I am running IBM WebSphere Application Server - Express, 6.0.2.9 Build Number: cf90614.22 on IBM iSeries V5R4

• Using Symbol MC70 series scanner with native code

  Is it possible to use Symbol MC70 series scanner with native code? I have a Windows Mobile application written using Lazarus(Object pascal) and I want to use it with Symbol MC70. The sdk that they have are for C, .NET and Java. I had a look at the C sdk and it comes with .LIB files which I cannot use with Object Pascal. I have no clue as to how the scanner is working with .NET stuff, I could not see a WIN32 dll in the files provided, maybe it is in the cab file. Any suggestions as to what I should do to get the scanners to work for me. Sandeep

• Cannot add library in VC++ 2008: My System is Different

  Hopefully someone can tell me what's going on here. I'm trying to link to gdiplus.lib and I tried to go to "Properties - Linker - Input - Additional Dependencies" to add the library but I do NOT have that section. I'm using Visual C++ 2008. Here's what I see: Common Properties Framework and References Configuration Properties General Degugging C/C++ Librarian Resources XML Document Generator Browse Information Build Events Custom Build Step I've checked every subcategory and there is NOT a "Linker" section or an "Input" section.   Becoming a bit of a Ruby convert, but I've run into an issue with my Rails installation. I realize, in spirit, this question may overlap with superuser.com, but am asking here due to the nature of the installation. My command: sudo gem install rails Response is: /opt/local/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/1.8/rubygems/spec_fetcher.rb:232: warning:getc is obsolete; use STDIN.getc instead The "/opt/local" may be giving away the fact I'm using MacPorts(Mac OS 10.4). After that response, there is no new command line issued by the system, just a hang. Any insite is greatly appreciated.

  Hello, I've downloaded the Python PalmDB lib, but can't find any info on how to use it. I've tried reading docstrings and so far I've been able to come up with the following code: from pprint import pprint from PalmDB.PalmDatabase import PalmDatabase pdb = PalmDatabase() with open('testdb.pdb','rb') as data: pdb.fromByteArray(data.read()) pprint(dir(pdb)) pprint(pdb.attributes) print pdb.__doc__ #print pdb.records print pdb.records[10].toXML() which gives me the xml representation of a record (?) with some nasty long payload attribute, which doesn't resemble any kind of human-readable text to me. I just want to read the contents of the pdb file. Is there a guide/tutorial for this library? What would you do to figure out the proper way to make things done in my situation?

As I started I figured out I could really use a couple of Moose roles to decouple code a little bit. • Huge EAR deployment

  Hello all, I'm trying to figure out how to deploy a huge (40-50 MB) EAR file to the server through a rather slow VPN connection. The EAR contains EJB and WAR projects created in Glassfish, and 90% of the file size is from external dependency libraries used. Has anyone came up with a strategy for elegant deployment to production system from Netbeans, where the deployment (over the network) is done only for what is really needed (i.e. just one WAR, not the entire EAR, or just one lib, not the entire libraries subproject). Related to the first point, how to separate external dependency libs from project in Netbeans, so that the project compiles on development machine, but when the EAR/WAR/EJB is created it does not contain all the dependency JARs, which are making it huge. Perhaps we need to write custom ant script? Start using maven? Thank you all for kind answers, Bozo

  I have been seeing the following error message a lot whenever I build something using the simulator: dyld: Symbol not found: _objc_collect_if_needed Referenced from: /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.1.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Foundation Expected in: /usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib in /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.1.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Foundation I am running XCode 3.2.2 on OS X 10.6.3, and have reinstalled the SDK twice with no avail. This error makes running any code on the simulator something of a Russian Roulette, but with 5 out of 6 chambers loaded. I have checked the files mentioned in the error message, and they all checkout as being present. This sometimes go away if I restart XCode. Other times I have to logout, or even restart. And sometimes nothing works. I have googled this, even tried apple's developer forums. Other than a reference to this in the MonoTouch list, this bug appears to be completely unknown otherwise. Anything help would be greatly appreciated - this is a real PITA. Cheers, Steve

• Python web server

  Hi I'd like to get suggestions on the best way to serve python scripts up as web pages. Typically I'd like a way for me and my colleagues to write simple web pages with minimal effort ie we focus on the business logic eg creating simple forms etc. Possibly with some way to manage sessions but this is a nice-to-have. It doesn't have to be WYSIWYG as they are developers but we are busy and don't want to spend long turning an idea into reality. It's for internal use so appearances are not paramount. The software required to enable this should be easy to setup and configure. eg adding new directories and python lib dirs should be easy. My first instinct is apache or tomcat with mod_python. Any comments / suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance.

• What did I lose when I upgraded?

  I upgraded my work box from Vista64 to Win7-64 by doing a format and reinstall. I kept backups of the project done in MS Visual Studio 2008 (Team). But now it won't compile. I am getting errors generated on lines in the MS created header files like "'_In_' not defined" etc. I know it is because I lost some compiler setting/directive. I was sure that the compiler settings would be in the project file; now I see that things like the include file directories, LIB files, etc. are not. [FYI: The project is a VB.NET GUI with VC++ DLL talking to a PIC24 micro over USB.] How do I most efficiently get my project back on the road to execution?

Also, I added the need configuration in the autoload.yml for the previous library. However, I'm getting a fatal PHP error: Call to undefined function Markdown(). How can I resolve this problem? • Add php extension (geoip.so) to Zend Studio for code validation

  Hi everyone, just have a short question here. I've just installed new php extension (geoip.so) using pecl to /usr/local/zend/lib/php_extensions/ and added the extension to the php.ini. Run the code and it works just fine. But Zend Studio is giving warning of undefined geoip function. Try to add the directory path above to the include path of Zend Studio, still the warning exists. • Rails Routing Broken In Production - Caching of routes.rb suspected

  Hi folks, i have an urgent problem. Essentially, my routing works on my localhost. But when i deployed this to production, the routes does not seem to work correctly. For example, given a new route "/invites" - sometimes i will get a 404, and sometimes it will work correctly. I suspect there is some caching going on somewhere, but i am not sure. • Facebook connect JavaScript with PHP

  I'm using the JavaScript method to sync/login (with the popup) with Facebook Connect on my site, it seems to work. However, after I get logged in, I want to continue in backend, with the PHP library. I see the cookies are set by the JavaScript lib, but I don't know how to use them with the PHP api. I used $fb = new Facebook($api_key, $secret); $uid = $fb->get_loggedin_user(); but not user data is getting passed. How can I get the user data in PHP after I logged in in frontend? As far as I'm concerned, I would have gone PHP all the way, but I didn't manage to make the auth work, meaning that in never redirected me back to my site :). Thanks!

• Works using Django development server, but throws import error with Apache using mod_wsgi

  I have a Django project that works fine with the development server that comes with it. No errors are produced at all when I use "django manage.py runserver" and the app works fine, but when I try to use it with mod_wsgi and Apache the browser displays "Internal Server Error" with a 500 error code and it generates an import error in the Apache error log. Here's the error in the log: ImportError: No module named registration I'm using the Django registration module which is located in a path like this: /opt/raj/photos/registration I know that the registration app is in the path because I can fire up a Python shell, import sys, and get a list of paths using sys.path. Here are some of the paths output from Python shell: sys.path ['', '/opt/raj/pyamf', '/opt/raj', '/opt/raj/pictures', '/opt/raj/pictures /registration', '/usr/lib/python2.6',....] Any thoughts would be appreciated.

• Getting libjpeg/libTIFF.dylib error after recompiling php in OS X 10.6.3 Server

  I've recompiled php 5.3.0 under OS X Server (10.6.3) in order to gain Freetype support in GD. As part of the process, I recompiled libjpeg-8a (and before that I tried libjpeg-7). But when I run apachectcl configtest, I get the following error: httpd: Syntax error on line 155 of /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Cannot load /usr/libexec/apache2/mod_auth_user_host_apple.so into server: dlopen(/usr/libexec/apache2/mod_auth_user_host_apple.so, 10): Symbol not found: __cg_jpeg_resync_to_restart\n Referenced from: /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/ImageIO.framework/Versions/A/Resources/libTIFF.dylib\n Expected in: /usr/lib/libJPEG.dylib\n in /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/ImageIO.framework/Versions/A/Resources/libTIFF.dylib I don't really understand the error.
