  I'm trying to do a debug build of the Rabbyt library using mingw's gcc to run with my MSVC built python26_d.. I got a lot of undefined references which caused me to create libpython26_d.a, however one of the undefined references remains. • Stackless installation and configuration with DJango

  I am trying to run a DJango Command Extension which uses stackless. I have installed Stackless Python (compiled with python 2.5) so whenever I type python2.5 at the console it fires up indicating that the version is Python 2.5.2 Stackless 3.1b3 060516 (python-2.52:72942, May 26 2009, 23:07:34) [GCC 4.3.3] on linux2 But in my eclipse I have configured my django application to run with python2.6. Specifically in the PyDev settings. So obviously when I mention import stackless it says that there is no such package. The problem is even if I add the '/usr/local/lib/python2.5/site-packages' directory it does not import stackless. What is the solution to this issue ?

• graphviz segmentation fault

I wrote a simple python program to do the trick with graphviz, but it gives me segmentation fault and I don't know why, if the graph is too big or if i'm missing something. • Checking that all libs and dlls are from the same build?

  I am developing a program in VS C++ 2008. Right now, I have a huge list of dll and lib dependencies and I am adding some more. I worry that when I need to update a dependency by building from source (where I have to manually replace built dlls and libs in the correct place), if I accidently forgot to replace something or vice versa, I may run into a compile and/or runtime problem. And finding which place goes wrong can be a bit difficult. So is there some sort of program or method out there that can suit this task to ease building a program with many updating dependencies?

  Hi Guys, Im trying to use some of the functions that are in the /lib/libproc-3.2.6.so library in my Ubuntu Distribution. I have downloaded and installed the header files and they are defined in my source files. Currently this is all im trying to do, just for starters... proc_t **read_proc = readproctab(0); But i get the following compiler error: /tmp/cclqMImG.o: In function `Sysmon::initialise_sysmon()': sysmon.cpp:(.text+0x494): undefined reference to `readproctab' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status Im aware im probably doing some wrong with the command im using to compile it, but due to lack of experience im not sure what im doign wrong. • How to install Nokogiri as a Macruby gem?

  The latest MacRuby release notes (v0.6) state that the authors have managed to get this release working with the SQLite and Nokogiri gems. However when I run sudo macgem install nokogiri I get the following errors: ERROR: Error installing nokogiri: extconf failed: and then a bunch of paths followed by: libxml2 is missing. try 'port install libxml2' or 'yum install libxml2' /Library/Frameworks/MacRuby.framework/Versions/0.6/usr/lib/ruby/Gems/1.9.0/gems/nokogiri-1.4.1/ext/nokogiri/extconf.rb:1:in `<main>': libxml2 is missing. try 'port install libxml2' or 'yum install libxml2' (SystemExit) Anyone knows how to get this working? My platform is Mac OS X 10.6.3. Nokogiri normally (meaining on plain old ruby 1.8.7) installs without a problem.

• Access to module denied from within GAE dev server

  I am developing an app for GAE. Having installed the "feedparser" module with setuptools, I tried importing it (with "import feedparser") statement. However, the module does not load and when I look at the dev_appserver.py debug log on screen, I see the following: Access to module file denied: /usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/feedparser-4.1-py2.6.egg/feedparser.py So GAE dev server cannot access the module but I can't figure out why. The path is correct and the file is accessible. I am fairly new to Python/Django/GAE - what am I missing?

However, if I add any gems to my environment.rb: config.gem "authlogic" And run the same generator, I get the following: /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/rails-2.3.5/lib/rails/gem_dependency.rb:119:Warning: Gem::Dependency#version_requirements is deprecated and will be removed on or after August 2010. The warning just recently appeared (I think), but I would like to fix it if possible. Any hints or similar experiences? Thanks.

• Python KMeans clustering words

  Dear Everyone I am interested to perform kmeans clustering on a list of words with the distance measure being Leveshtein. 1) I know there are a lot of frameworks out there, including scipy and orange that has a kmeans implementation. However they all require some sort of vector as the data which doesn't really fit me. 2) I need a good clustering implementation. I looked at python-clustering and realize that it doesn't a) return the sum of all the distance to each centroid, and b) it doesn't have any sort of iteration limit or cut off which ensures the quality of the clustering. python-clustering and the clustering algorithm on daniweb doesn't really work for me. Can someone find me a good lib? Google hasn't been my friend

• XML RSS to HTML parser doesn't work

  I'm using MCX (I don't even know if someone here is familiar with it, pretty unkown derivate of COBOL and Fortran, look it up in google when you don't believe me) Note: I'm using MCX on the MCX-WebServices server as it does neither support apache or ISS, mabye that is one problem. The thing is that I want to use the XML library to read in an XML file and convert it into an output format readable by the user. • Can I call sitemesh struts tags from a decorator in freemarker?

  I know if you are using JSPs, you can call struts tags defined the normal way from a decorator, like this: <html> <body> <decorator:body /> </body> </html> but in the examples I always see using freemarker decorators, they will instead say: <html> <body> ${body} </body> </html> Is this the only way to include the pieces of the page from the decorator, or is it possible to use the same taglibs? To test it, I put sitemesh-decorator.tld into WEB-INF/lib and tried just using <@decorator.body /> but no joy there. I think I'm missing something here, but I'm not sure what it is.

• actionscript 3.0 garbage collection with casalib ?

  I would love to see an actual example how to use the casalib-garbage-collection. I used the destroy method like in the description: casa-lib description If I have a Loader in a Subclass, do I also have to use the CasaLibLoader? Do I have still to care about all Instances/Eventlisteners to do proper garbage collection? If yes, whats the advantage of casalib-garbage-collection? I assumed to call destroy on a Casalib-Sprite and then it would destroy all its subclasses and references, and therefore safe memory. It would be awesome to get an easy instruction.   Hi hi, I'm looking for a easy to learn php library to use for my coming web app project. I've recently finished a web app with fully handwritten raw php code and it's absolutely hard to be done again for another project. even though I have the recent project code snippets to be used again, but due to their non-structural arrangement (not object oriented), i have no passion to use 'em again. I have no experience with common frameworks like ZF, CakePhp, CodeIgniter, so I think to get my hands on a multipurpose OO library for my web app and the framework learning will be the next step! any suggestion? UPDATE: Many thanks guys, I have not enough time to get through the depth of every lib or framework you have kindly introduced. Since I'm going one step further I'm going to use ZF as famous framework which could provide me more job opportunities perhaps. thankssss :)

• adhoc struct/class in C#?

  Currently i am using reflection with sql. I find if i want to make a specialize query it is easiest to get the results by creating a new class inheriting from another and adding the 2 members/columns for my specialized query. Then due to reflections in the lib in my c# code i can write foreach(var v in list) { v.AnyMember and v.MyExtraMember) Now instead of having the class scattered around or modifying my main DB.cs file can i define a class inside a function? I know i can create an anonymous object by writing new {name=val, name2=...}; but i need a to pass this class in a generic function func(query, args);

• What frameworks to use to bootstrap my first production scala project ?

  I am making my first foray into scala for a production app. The app is currently packaged as a war file. My plan is to create a jar file of the scala compiled artifacts and add that into the lib folder for the war file. My enhancement is a mysql-backed app exposed via Jersey & will be integrated with a 3rd party site via HttpClient invocations. I know how to do this via plain java. But when doing it in scala, there are several decision points that I am pussyfooting on. scala 2.7.7 or 2.8 RC ? JDBC via querulous Is this API ready for production ? sbt vs maven. I am comfortable with maven. Is there a scala idiomatic wrapper for HttpClient (or should I use it just like in java) ? I'd love to hear your comments and experiences on starting out with scala.   I have been seeing the following error message a lot whenever I run something in the simulator: dyld: Symbol not found: _objc_collect_if_needed Referenced from: /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.1.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Foundation Expected in: /usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib in /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.1.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Foundation I am running XCode 3.2.2 on OS X 10.6.3, and have reinstalled the SDK twice with no avail. This error makes running any code on the simulator something of a Russian Roulette, but with 5 out of 6 chambers loaded. I have checked the files mentioned in the error message, and they all checkout as being present. This sometimes go away if I restart XCode. Other times I have to logout, or even restart. And sometimes nothing works. I have googled this, even tried apple's developer forums. Other than a reference to this in the MonoTouch list, this bug appears to be completely unknown otherwise. Anything help would be greatly appreciated - this is a real PITA. Cheers, Steve

• Debugging segfault on swig/python/c++

  I am trying to figure out what the best way to debug a segault with swig/python/c++. A core file is being generated. I have a basic MessageFactory(defined in c++ that provides a simple interface to accept a few strings as input and return a string as output). This interface is then specified in a .i file. swig is used to generate Wrapper.cpp as well as a MessageFactory.py from the .i file. This along with supporting files is compiled into a dynamic lib. The point of failure , is when the MessageFactory is instantiated within python code. Any suggestions on how I can go about debugging this? I've tried running the script within pdb, what I know from that is import on the generated MessageFactory.py is whats causing the seg-fault.

• using sqlite3 with lua

  I'm trying to use sqlite3 with lua (am already using c++, but I'm a n00b with lua- I read this) but I'm getting the following when trying to build the library or whatever: C:\lib\lsqlite3-7>mingw32-make process_begin: CreateProcess(NULL, pkg-config --version, ...) failed. makefile:53: *** windows32. Stop. I'm not at all surprised at a makefile failing but I can't do them (is it spaces or tabs? where is it they have to go?), I would have thought there was a binary for windows? Any simple answers appreciated. I haven't got the time to learn make or install cygwin or whatever.

  I'm having this issue whenever i run "gem install rails": usr/local/lib/ruby/1.9.1/yaml.rb:56:in `<top (required)>': It seems your ruby installation is missing psych (for YAML output). To eliminate this warning, please install libyaml and reinstall your ruby. ERROR: Loading command: install (LoadError) cannot load such file -- zlib ERROR: While executing gem ... (NameError) uninitialized constant Gem::Commands::InstallCommand Ruby and Rubygems were both installed from source. I've installed libyaml from source and from apt-get. I'm running ubuntu 12.04. I am NOT running RVM as far as I know (trying "rvm" returns "bla bla bla not installed apt-get". I'm pretty sure this speaks of 2 separate issues but I need solutions to both. Thanks.
