• Inline Zend Navigation links in view content saved to db

  I'm storing the page content in the database (both as markup and HTML code) and displaying this content in the view (let's say it's CMS or forum post). The this data have also some links to internal pages existing in sitemap (Zend_Navigation object). It's easy to insert the link in page body just by using <a> tag. But the contents of this inline links does not change when I update the sorce XML for Zend Navigation (url's, attributes, ACL permissions). How do you handle this case? Special markup for the link, converting the link using url view helper? Iterate Zend_Navigation object extracting specific link (one by one)?

• AngularJS Bind Attribute Presence

  I want to bind the presence of an attribute to a variable in AngularJS. Specifically, sandbox for an iframe. Say I have $myCtrl.allowJavascript as a variable, I want to do: <iframe src="..." sandbox /> Where the sandbox attribute is present when allowJavascript == false, and I want the sandbox attribute to disappear when allowJavascript == true. Does AngularJS have a mechanism for this? The closest thing I could find was here, which basically says "it will just work for certain attributes"--but not for sandbox.

• Large strings: Text files or SQL DB?

  I am coding a forum system using PHP. I am currently storing a threads ID, title, author, views and other attributes in an SQL database and then storing the thread body (the HTML and BBcode) in text files inside a folder named after the thread ID. In practise it's really simple to grab the database values then just grab the thread body from the text file, but I was wondering if this is the 'proper way'? I have personally no problems doing this but if it turns out it is massively inefficient and I should instead store both the thread body HTML and BBcode in the database instead then I will change. However, to me it seems wrong to store such a (very possibly) huge string of multi-line text along with lots of different characters in a database - I was taught that databases are more for short field 'values' rather than website content. I would just like a definitive answer to this because it's been bugging me for ages as to wherever I’ve been doing it properly. Does anyone know how popular forum systems store threads?

• Android service puts multiple instances of an activity in the history

  I'm making a music player. When you press play, it loads a notification into the OnGoing section. When you go anywhere else in the system, I want the music to keep playing. All of this is fine. The problem is that when I relaunch my activity from the Notification, it adds a task to the history stack each time, so if I hit back, I have to see the instance of Activity B from where I pressed play, and from every time I clicked on the notification to go back to Activity B. I want the instance of Activity B that I launch from the notification (via the service) to be the only copy of that Activity in the history. I've been playing around with various Intent flags and Activity attributes in the manifest, but I haven't found the proper combination.

• design function: underlying structure to store list of results for print to file

  is this a good approach to print a list of items to csv file with a sublist attached to each item. The gist of the function is when an item is found that does not exactly macth then a list of close matches is generated - this works now writing out one list at a time to a command window. For export to a csv file I think all the lists must be generated, stored and then written at once. Right now I use a struct to store the attributes printed, each struct is an item on the list - these structs are then added to a sorted stack and when printed they pop off into write out. Is a stack of stacks of structs a good design?

• .save puts NULL in user_id field in Ruby on Rails

  Here's the model file: class ProfileTag < ActiveRecord::Base def self.create_or_update(options = {}) id = options.delete(:id) record = find_by_id(id) || new record.id = id record.attributes = options puts "record.profile_id is" puts record.profile_id record.save! record end end This gives me the correct print out in my log. But it also says that there's a call to UPDATE that sets profile_id to NULL. I'm not sure I understand why the INSERT puts the value into profile_id properly, but then it sets it to NULL on an UPDATE. If you need more specifics, please let me know. I'm thinking that the save functionality does many things other than INSERTs into the database, but I don't know what I need to specify so that it will properly set profile_id.

• How can I display a list of three different Models sortable by the same :attribute in rails?

  I have a Campaign model which has_many Calls, Emails, and Letters. For now, these are each a separate Model with different controllers and actions (although I would like to start to think of ways to collapse them once the models and actions stabilize). They do share two attributes at least: :days and :title I would like a way to represent all the Calls, Emails, and Letters that belong_to a specific Campaign as a sortable collection (sortable by :days), in a way that outputs the model name and the path_to() for each. For example (I know the below is not correct, but it represents the kind of output/format I've been trying to do: @campaign_events.each do |campaign_event| <%= campaign_event.model_name %> <%= link_to campaign_event.title, #{model_name}_path(campaign_event) %> end Thanks so much. BTW, if this matters, I would then want to make the :days attribute editable_in_place.

• How to dynamically load and switch the resource file in the web app (ASP.NET) without recompiling ?

  I would like to store the resource files (containing texts for labels etc.) for my web application in the database to be able to edit and create them dynamically later (probably in the UI). My idea was to store the whole resx file in an xml column and simply load it on demand - depending on the language and some other attributes of the current user when he is logging into the application or switching the context. The important thing is that the resources do not only depend on the culture info of the user but also on some context information that can be switched by user without logging off and on again (in our case called "group", not having anything to do with a group of users). Is it possible somehow to load the contents of the resources from an external source and simply switch them without web application being recompiled by the server ? I know that there are some interfaces on which I could hook up and implement a custom resources provider which reads from the database directly but if it could work somehow with the resx files it would probably make things a lot easier..

  I've missed the memo somewhere, and I hope you'll explain this to me. Why is the eigenclass of an object different from self.class? class Foo def initialize(symbol) eigenclass = class << self self end eigenclass.class_eval do attr_accessor symbol end end end My train of logic that equates the eigenclass with class.self is rather simple: class << self is a way of declaring class methods, rather than instance methods. It's a shortcut to def Foo.bar. So within the reference to the class object, returning self should be identical to self.class. This is because class << self would set self to Foo.class for definition of class methods/attributes. Am I just confused? Or, is this a sneaky trick of Ruby meta-programming?

The format below works, where I have a property in my class called "_myId": <TextBox Name="_myId" Text="{Binding (Textbox.Name)" /> I've tried using ^ and \ to escape the brackets. Is this syntax supported? I'm trying to avoid duplication of the name in two attributes.

• Generically creating objects in C#

  What I am trying to do is load in objects from an XML save file. The problem is those objects are configurable by the user at runtime, meaning i had to use reflection to get the names and attributes of those objects stored in an XML file. I am in the middle of a recursive loop through the XML and up to the part where I need to create an object then thought ..... ah - no idea how to do that :( I have an array stuffed with empty objects (m_MenuDataTypes), one of each possible type.   I have created a Combo box using HIComboBoxCreate(). When I have a long string in the dropdown list, it goes beyond the screen and the starting of the string is not visible. I want the string to be truncated with ellipsis in such a case. I have looked into the ComboBox attributes but couldn't find any that I can use to set this. • Should filters write to the response during or after filtering?

  I have a filter which processes generated HTML and rewrites certain elements. For example, it adds class attributes to some anchors. Finally, it writes the processed HTML to the response (a subclass of HttpServletResponseWrapper). Naturally, this means that the processed HTML is a different length after it has passed through the filter. I can see two ways of approaching this. One is to iterate over the HTML, using a StringBuilder to build up the processed HTML, and write the processed HTML to the response once all filtering is complete. The other is to iterate over the HTML but to write it to the response as soon as each element has been processed. Which is the better way for this operation, or is there another option which would be preferable? I am looking to minimise temporary memory usage primarily.

  I need to apply a css class to invalid controls on a web form. I'd like to make it a resusable class.   Hi, ok, I managed to read from xml file using NSXMLParser but now i don't know how to write to xml file. I have a xml file , say <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <root> <user id="abcd" password="pass1"/> <user id="efg" password="pass2"/> </root> Now when a new user enters details, I want to store them in a new tag.. lets say like, the id is "hhhh" and password is"pass3" I want to add a new tag with attributes as such <user id="hhhh" password="pass3"/> to the xml file. How should I do this. Please explain in an elaborate way . I am a newbie here. Any links to tutorials or examples will be much helpful. Thanks

  Hello, I have created a RSS parser and 3 TableViews and it parses the RSS files fine but I don't know how to notify the TableViewController when parsing has ended so it can update the view. The TableViewController initiates the parser and the parsing of a feed. parser = [[RSSParser alloc] initWithURL:@"http://randomfeed.com"]; I can access the single feed items like [parser feedItems]; In parser.m i have implemented the delegate methods of NSXMLParser: - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didStartElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qualifiedName attributes:(NSDictionary *)attributeDict - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser foundCharacters:(NSString *)string - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didEndElement:(NSString *)elementName - (void)parserDidEndDocument:(NSXMLParser *)parser So how do i get parserDidEndDocument to notify my controllers so i can add the data to the tableview.
