  • Entity Data Model & DataGridView - Creating new objects

    - by AcousticBoom
I'm pretty new to the EDM, so bear with me. I have a windows form that has a DataGridView on it that's bound from the EDM I created. I figured out how to update my changes fine, but it's when the user creates a new row that I'm having a problem. I tried numerous ways and many google searches, but came up with nothing so far. Here's how the data is loaded: Dim boilerID As Integer = DirectCast(ddlBoiler.SelectedValue, Integer) Dim countryID As Integer = DirectCast(ddlCountry.SelectedValue, Integer) Dim ratings = From r In _Context.Rating _ Where r.Boiler.Boiler_ID = boilerID _ And r.Country.Country_ID = countryID _ Order By r.Sequence _ Select r RatingBindingSource.DataSource = ratings.ToList() Also, all I'm doing to save the information right now is the following: Private Sub btnSave_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSave.Click _Context.SaveChanges() End Sub I want the user to be able to use the grid's "new row" feature to add new items to the database instead of having to click a button and open a new dialog. How would this be accomplished? I can include some of the methods i tried for adding new items if anyone needs to see. Thanks!

  • Perl on MacOS X 10.6.2: GDBM_File missing, how to install or work around?

    - by jdmuys
When I need a Perl module, I typically use CPAN. It works fine. But not this time. I want to use MARC::Charset, but this one uses GDBM_File, and I can't seem to install GDBM_File from CPAN. CPAN finds it all right, but trying to install it, it starts installing the full Perl 5.10.1 distribution. MARC::Charset is a rather old module, so there should be a way to use it from some common Perl version (Mac OS X 10.6.2 has 5.10.0 and 5.8.9 by default). While installing the full blow Perl 5.10.1 is not an option, modifying MARC::Charset to stop using GDBM_File might be one. What would be the best course of action to do so? This last option might also be the only one. googling GDBM_File uncovers a few items that suggest that gdbm is not even available on the Mac. Those items typically went over my head though. While I don't expect a silver bullet, somebody may have a pointer or two on where I should start. After all, MARC::Charset only does character transliteration to/from the marc8 char set, which unfortunately, iconv doesn't seem to support.

  • Putting JComboBox into JTable

    - by Dan
    Hi, I want to put individual JComboBoxes into each cells of a JTable. ie. The JComboBox content is not identical for each cell. I basically would like to be able to just call the following code to add a row of JComboBox into the JTable. Anyone has any idea? Thanks JComboBox cb1 = new JComboBox(...); JComboBox cb2 = new JComboBox(...); model.addRow(new Object[] {"Row name", cb1, cb2} ); JComboBox cb3 = new JComboBox(...); JComboBox cb4 = new JComboBox(...); model.addRow(new Object[] {"Row name 2", cb3, cb4} ); This is the resultant view if I do the above. http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/a6292e08ee.png The closest example code I can find is as follows. But it is for where JComboBox content is identical for the individual column. Not the solution I need. TableColumn col = table.getColumnModel().getColumn(vColIndex); col.setCellEditor(new MyComboBoxEditor(values)); where public class MyComboBoxEditor extends DefaultCellEditor { public MyComboBoxEditor(String[] items) { super(new JComboBox(items)); } }

  • DataGridView not displaying data in ToolStripDropDown

    - by jblaske
I'm utilizing the code posted by Jesper Palm here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/280891/make-user-control-display-outside-of-form-boundry /// <summary> /// A simple popup window that can host any System.Windows.Forms.Control /// </summary> public class PopupWindow : System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripDropDown { private System.Windows.Forms.Control _content; private System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripControlHost _host; public PopupWindow(System.Windows.Forms.Control content) { //Basic setup... this.AutoSize = false; this.DoubleBuffered = true; this.ResizeRedraw = true; this._content = content; this._host = new System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripControlHost(content); //Positioning and Sizing this.MinimumSize = content.MinimumSize; this.MaximumSize = content.Size; this.Size = content.Size; content.Location = Point.Empty; //Add the host to the list this.Items.Add(this._host); } } I've translated it to VB: Public Class PopupWindow Inherits System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripDropDown Private _content As System.Windows.Forms.Control Private _host As System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripControlHost Public Sub New(ByVal content As System.Windows.Forms.Control) Me.AutoSize = False Me.DoubleBuffered = True Me.ResizeRedraw = True Me._content = content Me._host = New System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripControlHost(content) Me.MinimumSize = content.MinimumSize Me.MaximumSize = content.MaximumSize Me.Size = content.Size content.Location = Point.Empty Me.Items.Add(Me._host) End Sub End Class It works great with a PictureBox showing its information. But for some reason I cannot get the DataGridView to display anything when it is in the popup. If I pull the grid out of the popup it displays all of its information fine. If I pause during debug, the grid shows that it has all the data in it. It's just not displaying anything. Does anybody have any ideas?

  • LINQ-to-SQL: Could not find key member 'x' of key 'x' on type 'y'

    - by Austin Hyde
I am trying to connect my application to a SQLite database with LINQ-to-SQL, and so far everything has worked fine. The only hitch was that the SQLite provider I am using does not support code generation (unless I was doing something wrong), so I manually coded the 4 tables in the DB. The solution builds properly, but will not run, giving me the error message Could not find key member 'ItemType_Id' of key 'ItemType_Id' on type 'Item'. The key may be wrong or the field or property on 'Item' has changed names. I have checked and double checked spellings and field names on the database and in the attribute mappings, but could not find any problems. The SQL for the table looks like this: CREATE TABLE [Items] ( [Id] integer PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT NOT NULL, [Name] text NOT NULL, [ItemType_Id] integer NOT NULL ); And my mapping code: [Table(Name="Items")] class Item { // [snip] [Column(Name = "Id", IsPrimaryKey=true, IsDbGenerated=true)] public int Id { get; set; } // [snip] [Column(Name="ItemType_Id")] public int ItemTypeId { get; set; } [Association(Storage = "_itemType", ThisKey = "ItemType_Id")] public ItemType ItemType { get { return _itemType.Entity; } set { _itemType.Entity = value; } } private EntityRef<ItemType> _itemType; // [snip] } This is really my first excursion into LINQ-to-SQL, and am learning as I go, but I cannot seem to get past this seeming simple problem. Why cannot LINQ see my association?

  • Postback problem when using URL Rewrite and 404.aspx

    - by salle55
I'm using URL rewrite on my site to get URLs like: http://mysite.com/users/john instead of http://mysite.com/index.aspx?user=john To achive this extensionless rewrite with IIS6 and no access to the hosting-server I use the "404-approach". When a request that the server can't find, the mapped 404-page is executed, since this is a aspx-page the rewrite can be performed (I can setup the 404-mapping using the controlpanel on the hosting-service). This is the code in Global.asax: protected void Application_BeginRequest(object sender, EventArgs e) { string url = HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.AbsolutePath; if (url.Contains("404.aspx")) { string[] urlInfo404 = Request.Url.Query.ToString().Split(';'); if (urlInfo404.Length > 1) { string requestURL = urlInfo404[1]; if (requestURL.Contains("/users/")) { HttpContext.Current.RewritePath("~/index.aspx?user=" + GetPageID(requestURL)); StoreRequestURL(requestURL); } else if (requestURL.Contains("/picture/")) { HttpContext.Current.RewritePath("~/showPicture.aspx?pictureID=" + GetPageID(requestURL)); StoreRequestURL(requestURL); } } } } private void StoreRequestURL(string url) { url = url.Replace("http://", ""); url = url.Substring(url.IndexOf("/")); HttpContext.Current.Items["VirtualUrl"] = url; } private string GetPageID(string requestURL) { int idx = requestURL.LastIndexOf("/"); string id = requestURL.Substring(idx + 1); id = id.Replace(".aspx", ""); //Only needed when testing without the 404-approach return id; } And in Page_Load on my masterpage I set the correct URL in the action-attribute on the form-tag. protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { string virtualURL = (string)HttpContext.Current.Items["VirtualUrl"]; if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(virtualURL)) { form1.Action = virtualURL; } } The rewrite works fine but when I perform a postback on the page the postback isn't executed, can this be solved somehow? The problem seems to be with the 404-approach because when I try without it (and loses the extensionless-feature) the postback works. That is when I request: http://mysite.com/users/john.aspx Can this be solved or is there any other solution that fulfil my requirements (IIS6, no serveraccess/ISAPI-filter and extensionless).

  • C# average function without overflow exception

    - by Ron Klein
.NET Framework 3.5. I'm trying to calculate the average of some pretty large numbers. For instance: using System; using System.Linq; class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { var items = new long[] { long.MaxValue - 100, long.MaxValue - 200, long.MaxValue - 300 }; try { var avg = items.Average(); Console.WriteLine(avg); } catch (OverflowException ex) { Console.WriteLine("can't calculate that!"); } Console.ReadLine(); } } Obviously, the mathematical result is 9223372036854775607 (long.MaxValue - 200), but I get an exception there. This is because the implementation (on my machine) to the Average extension method, as inspected by .NET Reflector is: public static double Average(this IEnumerable<long> source) { if (source == null) { throw Error.ArgumentNull("source"); } long num = 0L; long num2 = 0L; foreach (long num3 in source) { num += num3; num2 += 1L; } if (num2 <= 0L) { throw Error.NoElements(); } return (((double) num) / ((double) num2)); } I know I can use a BigInt library (yes, I know that it is included in .NET Framework 4.0, but I'm tied to 3.5). But I still wonder if there's a pretty straight forward implementation of calculating the average of integers without an external library. Do you happen to know about such implementation? Thanks!! UPDATE: The previous example, of three large integers, was just an example to illustrate the overflow issue. The question is about calculating an average of any set of numbers which might sum to a large number that exceeds the type's max value. Sorry about this confusion. I also changed the question's title to avoid additional confusion. Thanks all!!

  • C# Application Calling Powershell Script Issues

    - by Ben
Hi, I have a C# Winforms application which is calling a simple powershell script using the following method: Process process = new Process(); process.StartInfo.FileName = @"powershell.exe"; process.StartInfo.Arguments = String.Format("-noexit \"C:\Develop\{1}\"", scriptName); process.Start(); The powershell script simply reads a registry key and outputs the subkeys. $items = get-childitem -literalPath hklm:\software foreach($item in $items) { Write-Host $item } The problem I have is that when I run the script from the C# application I get one set of results, but when I run the script standalone (from the powershell command line) I get a different set of results entirely. The results from running from the c# app are: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Adobe HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Business Objects HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Helios HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\InstallShield HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Macrovision HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Microsoft HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\MozillaPlugins HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\ODBC HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Classes HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Clients HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Policies HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\RegisteredApplications PS C:\Develop\RnD\SiriusPatcher\Sirius.Patcher.UI\bin\Debug When run from the powershell command line I get: PS M: C:\Develop\RegistryAccess.ps1 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\ATI Technologies HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Classes HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Clients HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Equiniti HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Microsoft HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\ODBC HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Policies HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\RegisteredApplications HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Wow6432Node PS M: The second set of results match what I have in the registry, but the first set of results (which came from the c# app) don't. Any help or pointers would be greatly apreciated :) Ben

  • System.Web.Caching vs. Enterprise Library Caching Block

    - by ESV
For a .NET component that will be used in both web applications and rich client applications, there seem to be two obvious options for caching: System.Web.Caching or the Ent. Lib. Caching Block. What do you use? Why? System.Web.Caching Is this safe to use outside of web apps? I've seen mixed information, but I think the answer is maybe-kind-of-not-really. a KB article warning against 1.0 and 1.1 non web app use The 2.0 page has a comment that indicates it's OK: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.caching.cache(VS.80).aspx Scott Hanselman is creeped out by the notion The 3.5 page includes a warning against such use Rob Howard encouraged use outside of web apps I don't expect to use one of its highlights, SqlCacheDependency, but the addition of CacheItemUpdateCallback in .NET 3.5 seems like a Really Good Thing. Enterprise Library Caching Application Block other blocks are already in use so the dependency already exists cache persistence isn't necessary; regenerating the cache on restart is OK Some cache items should always be available, but be refreshed periodically. For these items, getting a callback after an item has been removed is not very convenient. It looks like a client will have to just sleep and poll until the cache item is repopulated. Memcached for Win32 + .NET client What are the pros and cons when you don't need a distributed cache?

  • Microsoft Sync Framework with Mutliple Client and Server Database

    - by David Osborn
I'm working on changes to an application to have a local data store instead of connecting directly to the database server. The client app will then sync changes both ways between the server database and its local data store. I'm trying to implement the syncing solution using Microsoft Sync Framework. To be clear there is no server application, only the database server, but there are multiple clients. I have started implementing two classes that implement FullEnumerationSimpleSyncProvider, one called LocalSyncProvider and one called ServerSyncProvider. The LocalSyncProvider knows how to enumerate, insert, update, delete items from the local data store, and the ServerSyncProvider knows how to enumerate, insert, update, delete items from the database server. They each use the provided SqlMetadataStore and store the two metadata stores (one for the local and one for the server) on the local drive of the client. This means that each client will have its own metadata store for its local data store and its own metadata store for the server database. Is this actually going to work, does there need to exists only one server metadata store, or do I need to be using the Sync Framework differently?

  • How to avoid reallocation using the STL (C++)

    - by Tue Christensen
This question is derived of the topic: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2280655/vector-reserve-c I am using a datastructur of the type vector<vector<vector<double> > >. It is not possible to know the size of each of these vector (except the outer one) before items (doubles) are added. I can get an approximate size (upper bound) on the number of items in each "dimension". A solution with the shared pointers might be the way to go, but I would like to try a solution where the vector<vector<vector<double> > > simply has .reserve()'ed enough space (or in some other way has allocated enough memory). Will A.reserve(500) (assumming 500 is the size or, alternatively an upper bound on the size) be enough to hold "2D" vectors of large size, say [1000][10000]? The reason for my question is mainly because I cannot see any way of reasonably estimating the size of the interior of A at the time of .reserve(500). An example of my question: vector A; A.reserve(500+1); vector temp2; vector temp1 (666,666); for(int i=0;i<500;i++) { A.push_back(temp2); for(int j=0; j< 10000;j++) { A.back().push_back(temp1); } } Will this ensure that no reallocation is done for A? If temp2.reserve(100000) and temp1.reserve(1000) where added at creation will this ensure no reallocation at all will occur at all? In the above please disregard the fact that memory could be wasted due to conservative .reserve() calls. Thank you all in advance!

  • AutoCompleteTextView displays 'android.database.sqlite.SQLiteCursor@'... after making selection

    - by user244190
I am using the following code to set the adapter (SimpleCursorAdapter) for an AutoCompleteTextView mComment = (AutoCompleteTextView) findViewById(R.id.comment); Cursor cComments = myAdapter.getDistinctComments(); scaComments = new SimpleCursorAdapter(this,R.layout.auto_complete_item,cComments,new String[] {DBAdapter.KEY_LOG_COMMENT},new int[]{R.id.text1}); mComment.setAdapter(scaComments); auto_complete_item.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TextView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/text1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"/> and thi is the xml for the actual control <AutoCompleteTextView android:id="@+id/comment" android:hint="@string/COMMENT" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textSize="18dp"/> The dropdown appears to work correctly, and shows a list of items. When I make a selection from the list I get a sqlite object ('android.database.sqlite.SQLiteCursor@'... ) in the textview. Anyone know what would cause this, or how to resolve this? thanks Ok I am able to hook into the OnItemClick event, but the TextView.setText() portion of the AutoCompleteTextView widget is updated after this point. • How to access the remote OPC server programatically ?

    - by Shailesh Jaiswal
I have downloaded & installed the OPCDA.NET client component evaluation & XMLDA.NET client component evaluation. It provides some C# samples for browsing the available OPC Server, connecting to the OPC server, & browsing the available items on the server. I know the programatic way in which we can access the local OPC server. It is provided in the sample C# applications. I have installed the OPC server on another machine ( remote machine ). I have done all the required setting related to the 'dcomcnfg' utility. I can access the remote OPC server from client machine by using the Test Client provided by the OPCDA.NET client component evaluation & XMLDA.NET client component evaluation. But I am unaware of how this can be done programmatically. In the available C# samples I found no such programatic part (coding ) in which we can access the remote OPC server. Can you provide me the code through which I can browse the available remote machines in my network, available OPC server on each machine after selecting the specific machine name, connecting to the OPC server & browsing the available items on the server ? or Can you provide me the any link through which I can resolve the above issue ?

  • jQuery not and classes

    - by Giles B
Hi Guys, I have 2 anchor links (a.selector) and when one is clicked it has a class applied to it of 'active-arrow' and the click also removes the class of the same name from the other anchor as well as lowering the opacity to 0.2. I then want to have a fade effect when the user hovers over the anchor that doesn't have 'active-arrow' applied to it so that it goes to full opacity when mouseenters and back to 0.2 when mouseleaves. The problem im having is that both .not and :not don't seem to be working as expected, the hover effect works but if I click on the anchor whilst hovering the 'active-arrow' class is applied but when mouseleaves the opacity is faded down to 0.2 again even though the 'active-arrow' class is applied. Also the hover then doesn't work for the other a link which has had 'active-arrow' removed. Bit of a hard one to explain so heres some code that hopefully helps a bit. *//If a.selector doesn't have the class 'active-arrow' then run the hoverFade function* $("a.selector").not(".active-arrow").hoverFade(); //Functions for first element $('a.selector-1').click(function () { $('a.selector-2').removeClass('active-arrow'); //Remove background image from corresponding element $('ul#storage-items-2').fadeOut(1200).addClass('hide'); //Fade out then hide corresponding list $(this).addClass('active-arrow', 'fast'); //Add background image to current element $('ul#storage-items-1').removeClass('hide').fadeIn(1800); //Unhide and fade in the list $('a.selector-2').fadeTo(500, 0.2); //Fade corresponding element $(this).fadeTo(800, 1);//Fade this element to full opacity }); I only included the code for teh first anchor (a.selector-1) as the code for the second anchor is identical but just changes the class names to a.selector-2. Also the hoverFade function is in a seperate file so we can re-use it. jQuery.fn.hoverFade = function() { return this.each(function(){ $(this).hover( function () { $(this).fadeTo(500, 0.8); }, function () { $(this).fadeTo(500, 0.2); }); }); } Each anchor link fades in and fades out a UL as well. Any help is most appreciated Thanks Giles

  • Alternating table row colors in freemarker

    - by itsadok
    What's a good, simple way to have alternate row coloring with freemarker? Is this really the best way? <#assign row=0> <#list items as item> <#if (row % 2) == 0> <#assign bgcolor="green"> <#else> <#assign bgcolor="red"> </#if> <tr style='background-color: ${bgcolor}'><td>${item}</td></tr> <#assign row = row + 1> </#list> I tried doing this: <#assign row=0> <#list items as item> <tr style='background-color: ${(row % 2) == 0 ? "green" : "blue"}'><td>${item}</td></tr> <#assign row = row + 1> </#list> But apparently you can't user the ternary operator in there. Note: I guess I should have mentioned it earlier, but I can't use css classes or javascript, since this HTML is going into an email message.

  • WPF UI Automation - AutomationElement.FindFirst fails when there are lots of elements

    - by Orion Edwards
We've got some automated UI tests for our WPF app (.NET 4); these test use the UI Automation API's. We call AutomationElement.FindFirst to find a target element, and then interact with it. Example (pseudocode): var nameEquals = new PropertyCondition(AutomationElement.NameProperty, "OurAppWindow"); var appWindow = DesktopWindow.FindFirst(TreeScope.Children, nameEquals); // this succeeds var idEquals = new PropertyCondition(AutomationElement.AutomationIdProperty, "ControlId"); var someItem = appWindow.FindFirst(TreeScope.Descendants, idEquals); // this suceeds sometimes, and fails sometimes! The problem is, the appWindow.FindFirst will sometimes fail and return null, even when the element is present. I've written a helper function which walks the UI automation tree manually and prints it out, and the element with the correct ID is present in all cases. It seems to be related to how many other items are also being displayed in the window. If there are no other items then it always succeeds, but when there are many other complex UI elements being displayed alongside it, then the find fails. I can't find any documented element limit mentioned for any of the automation API's - is there some way around this? I'm thinking I might have to write my own implemententation of FindFirst which does the tree walk manually itself... As far as I can tell this should work, because my tree-printer utility function does exactly that, and it's ok, but it seems like this would be unnecessary and slow :-( Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • Using Javascript to detect when a user has selected an item in an ASP.NET listbox

    - by Amr Bekhit
Hello all, I am developing an ASP.NET web application that incorporates google maps. I have an ASP.NET listbox on my page which contains a list of items. When the user selects one of the items, I'd like to show this item on the map. The main complication lies in the fact that google maps uses javascript to control it and the listbox is a server control. I can think of two ways to do this. The first would involve the listbox calling a javascript function when the user selects a new item. I can then write this function to perform the necessary map operations. Unfortunately, the OnSelectedIndexChanged property of the listbox doesn't seem to support javascript functions. The second involves wrapping an UpdatePanel around the listbox and getting the listbox to perform a postback. In the SelectedIndexChanged event in VB/C#, I would the need to somehow make a call to a javascript function which would then update the map. Which solution can I use? Thanks --Amr

Hi, I am using jquery 1.4.2 and trying to achieve the following: 1 - function call that sends a value to a php page to add/remove an item 2 - returns html list of the items 3 - list should still be sortable 4 - save (serialise list) onclick My full WIP is located here [http://www.chittak.co.uk/test4/index_nw3.php][1] I tried to delegate from the level above the UL but I could get this to work $("#construnctionstage").delegate('ul li', 'click', function(){ The initial list is sortable, when you click add/remove the ajax function returns a new list with the a number of items, BUT I am doing something wrong as the alert message continues to work while the list is no longer sortable. $(document).ready(function(){ $('ul').delegate('li', 'click', function(){ alert('You clicked on an li element!'); /*$("#test-list").sortable({ handle : '.handle', update : function () { var order = $('#test-list').sortable('serialize'); $("#info").load("process-sortable.php?"+order); } });*/ }).sortable({ handle : '.handle', update : function () { var order = $('#test-list').sortable('serialize'); $("#info").load("process-sortable.php?"+order); } }); }); <div id="construnctionstage"> <ul id="test-list"> <li id="listItem_1">

  • Average function without overflow exception

    - by Ron Klein
.NET Framework 3.5. I'm trying to calculate the average of some pretty large numbers. For instance: using System; using System.Linq; class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { var items = new long[] { long.MinValue + 100, long.MinValue + 200, long.MinValue + 300 }; try { var avg = items.Average(); Console.WriteLine(avg); } catch (OverflowException ex) { Console.WriteLine("can't calculate that!"); } Console.ReadLine(); } } Obviously, the mathematical result is 9223372036854775607 (long.MaxValue - 200), but I get an exception there.

  • Silverlight 3 - Data Binding Position of a rectangle on a canvas

    - by Blounty
Hi Everyone, I am currently trying to bind a collection of objects to a Canvas in Silverlight 3 using an ItemsControl as below: <ItemsControl x:Name="ctrl" ItemsSource="{Binding myObjectsCollection}"> <ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <Canvas></Canvas> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Rectangle Stroke="LightGray" Fill="Black" StrokeThickness="2" RadiusX="15" RadiusY="15" Canvas.Left="{Binding XAxis}" Height="25" Width="25"> </Rectangle> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> Unfortunately it seems the binding on the Canvas.Left is being ignored. From what i have learned here it would appear this is due to the items being placed inside a content presenter not the actual canvas i have specified in the items panel. Is there a way i can use data binding to determine the position of elements on a canvas?

  • Django forms, inheritance and order of form fields

    - by Hannson
I'm using Django forms in my website and would like to control the order of the fields. Here's how I define my forms: class edit_form(forms.Form): summary = forms.CharField() description = forms.CharField(widget=forms.TextArea) class create_form(edit_form): name = forms.CharField() The name is immutable and should only be listed when the entity is created. I use inheritance to add consistency and DRY principles. What happens which is not erroneous, in fact totally expected, is that the name field is listed last in the view/html but I'd like the name field to be on top of summary and description. I do realize that I could easily fix it by copying summary and description into create_form and loose the inheritance but I'd like to know if this is possible. Why? Imagine you've got 100 fields in edit_form and have to add 10 fields on the top in create_form - copying and maintaining the two forms wouldn't look so sexy then. (This is not my case, I'm just making up an example) So, how can I override this behavior? Edit: Apparently there's no proper way to do this without going through nasty hacks (fiddling with .field attribute). The .field attribute is a SortedDict (one of Django's internal datastructures) which doesn't provide any way to reorder key:value pairs. It does how-ever provide a way to insert items at a given index but that would move the items from the class members and into the constructor. This method would work, but make the code less readable. The only other way I see fit is to modify the framework itself which is less-than-optimal in most situations. In short the code would become something like this: class edit_form(forms.Form): summary = forms.CharField() description = forms.CharField(widget=forms.TextArea) class create_form(edit_form): def __init__(self,*args,**kwargs): forms.Form.__init__(self,*args,**kwargs) self.fields.insert(0,'name',forms.CharField()) That shut me up :)

  • How to implement DisplayMemberPath for my Wpf UserControl?

    - by Bevan
I'm writing a WPF User Control for my application, wrapping a ListBox and a few other items. The ListBox has a new ItemTemplate that presents four pieces of information for each item in my list. I can hard code each of the four bindings to specific properties on my list items and they display fine. However, I want my UserControl to be a bit more flexible. On ListBox and ComboBox there is a property DisplayMemberPath (inherited from ItemsControl) that seems to "inject" the appropriate property binding into the standard ItemTemplate. How do I achieve the same result with my user control? I'd like to set up four new properties to allow configuration of the information displayed: public string LabelDisplayPath { get; set; } public string MetricDisplayPath { get; set; } public string TitleDisplayPath { get; set; } public string SubtitleDisplayPath { get; set; } Reviewing ItemsControl.DisplayMemberPath with Reflector seems to go down the rabbit hole, I haven't been able to fathom how it works. Also, if I'm completely off course - and there's another, more "WPF" technique that I should be using instead, please point me in that direction.

  • Dynamic programming in VB

    - by Rahul Jain
Hello Everybody, We develop applications for SAP using their SDK. SAP provides a SDK for changing and handling events occuring in the user interface. For example, with this SDK we can catch a click on a button and do something on the click. This programming can be done either VB or C#. This can also be used to create new fields on the pre-existing form. We have developed a specific application which allows users to store the definition required for new field in a database table and the fields are created at the run time. So far, this is good. What we require now is that the user should be able to store the validation code for the field in the database and the same should be executed on the run time. Following is an example of such an event: Private Sub SBO_Application_ItemEvent(ByVal FormUID As String, ByRef pVal As SAPbouiCOM.ItemEvent, ByRef BubbleEvent As Boolean) Handles SBO_Application.ItemEvent Dim oForm As SAPbouiCOM.Form If pVal.FormTypeEx = "ACC_QPLAN" Then If pVal.EventType = SAPbouiCOM.BoEventTypes.et_LOST_FOCUS And pVal.BeforeAction = False Then oProdRec.ItemPressEvent(pVal) End If End If End Sub Public Sub ItemPressEvent(ByRef pVal As SAPbouiCOM.ItemEvent) Dim oForm As SAPbouiCOM.Form oForm = oSuyash.SBO_Application.Forms.GetForm(pVal.FormTypeEx, pVal.FormTypeCount) If pVal.EventType = SAPbouiCOM.BoEventTypes.et_LOST_FOCUS And pVal.BeforeAction = False Then If pVal.ItemUID = "AC_TXT5" Then Dim CardCode, ItemCode As String ItemCode = oForm.Items.Item("AC_TXT2").Specific.Value CardCode = oForm.Items.Item("AC_TXT0").Specific.Value UpdateQty(oForm, CardCode, ItemCode) End If End If End Sub So, what we need in this case is to store the code given in the ItemPressEvent in a database, and execute this in runtime. I know this is not straight forward thing. But I presume there must be some ways of getting these kind of things done. The SDK is made up of COM components. Thanks & Regards, Rahul Jain
