• egg git interface for emacs, commit message empty

  I'm using egg (emacs got git) as git interface in emacs. Whenever I try to achieve a commit --amend, I receive a "GIT-COMMIT-AMEND> Aborting commit due to empty commit message". This is what i do: C-u C-x v c Then the commit buffer appears, with the message of my previous commit. Then upon C-c C-c I get the message stated above: empty commit message. I think I've had this behaviour with regular commits (as in not amend) before, but can't remember or find how I solved it. I tried editing the message (adding a space somewhere). No work. I tried saving the buffer before committing, that wouldn't work either (since C-c C-c is not active in another buffer than the commit buffer). Any clue?

  I need a regular expression that will extract sentences from text that contain a year in them. Example text: Next, in 1988 the Bradys were back again for a holiday celebration, "A Very Brady Christmas". Susan Olsen (Cindy) would be missing from this reunion, Jennifer Runyon took her place. This was a two hour movie in which the Bradys got together to celebrate Christmas, introducing the world to the spouses and children of the Brady kids. This movie was the highest rated TV-movie of 1988. If the example text was variable $string, I need it to return: $sentenceWithYear[0] = Next, in 1988 the Bradys were back again for a holiday celebration, "A Very Brady Christmas". $sentenceWithYear[1] = This movie was the highest rated TV-movie of 1988. If it's possible to retain the year via regex, I'd use the year within the sentence and eventually insert the sentences into a database like: INSERT INTO table_name (year, sentence) VALUES ('$year', '$sentenceWithYear[x]')

• Unable to send mail through Google SMTP with PHPMailer

  Hello, I'm trying to send out mail using Google's SMTP in combination with PHPMailer, but I can't get it to work. This is my code: $mail->IsSMTP(); $mail->Host = "smtp.gmail.com"; $mail->SMTPAuth = true; $mail->SMTPSecure = "ssl"; $mail->Username = "[email protected]"; $mail->Password = "**********"; $mail->Port = "465"; First I do not fully understand what should be filled in as 'SMTPSecure', some say 'ssl', other say 'tls'. Next for 'Port' I could enter '465' or '587'. But none of the combinations work... Note that I'm using a regular Gmail account and not Google Apps. In my Gmail account I've enabled 'POP access'. The error I get is: "Must issue a STARTTLS command first". Which means SSL failed, but don't know why...

• webbrowser disable script debugging in Visual Basic 6

  Hi, I want to disable script errors from popping up in a VB6 application. (I have VB6 installed on this machine). Currently, if I navigate to a particular page, it pops up saying "INternet Explorer Script Error: An error has ocurred in the script on this page" ... "Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?" Setting the webbrowser1.silent to 'true' does not work. Instead all that happens, is instead of displaying an error message, it starts up the actual 'script' debugger, and then exits the program. On a machine without the (visual studio) debugger, it still pops up a message asking to use the debugger, i.e., on Vista, (when silent is set to true). Manually changing the 'disable script debugging (other)' (and regular one), doesn't seem to working in MSIE (also testing version 6.0 for xp users). How do I disable script errors? • How to return a result (startActivityForResult) from a TabHost Activity?

  I have 3 classes in my example: Class A, the main activity. Class A calls a startActivityForResult: Intent intent = new Intent(this, ClassB.class); startActivityForResult(intent, "STRING"); Class B, this class is a TabActivity: Intent intent = new Intent(this, ClassC.class); tabHost.addTab... Class C, this class is a regular Activity: Intent intent = this.getIntent(); intent.putExtra("SOMETHING", "EXTRAS"); this.setResult(RESULT_OK, intent); finish(); onActivityResult is called in Class A, but the resultCode is RESULT_CANCELED instead of RESULT_OK and the returned intent is null. How do I return something from the Activity inside a TabHost? I realize that the problem is that my Class C is actually running inside of Class B, and Class B is what is returning the RESULT_CANCELED back to Class A. I just don't know a work around yet.

• Why does WPF toggle button pulse once unchecked

  Wihtin a Desktop app I have a toggle button: For the Checked event I am setting a value and then executing a method FilterView(); //ommitting code Unchecked state is just the opposite. resets a variable and executed the method again The question I have is I noticed when I uncheck the toggle button the button continues to pulse or flash ( going from blue to chrome) as if it still has focus. The button will stay like this until another button is clicked. Is there a way to remove this focus so that when the button is unchecked the button goes back to a unchecked state without the flashing / pulsing color. As you can see from above this is a standard toggle button no styles or custom I tested this on just a regular button and I found the same occured when clicked the button will continue to pulse / flash until another button is clicked. How do you work around this or prevent this effect from happening. Thank you

• Equivalents to Z80 DJNZ instruction on other architectures?

  First a little background. The z80 CPU has an instruction called DJNZ which can be used in a similar manner as a for loop. Basically DJNZ decrements the B register and jumps to a label if not zero. For example: ld b,96 ; erase all of the line disp_version_erase_loop: call _vputblank ; erase pixels at cursor (uses b reg) djnz disp_version_erase_loop ; loop Of course you can do the same thing using regular comparison and jump instructions, but often it is handy to use the single instruction. With that out of the way, my question is, do other CPU architectures include a similar control instruction?

(non commercial preferred since it's just for experimentation) The idea is to allow a user to say something from a website then whatever he/she says will show up on the screen (as text) I've read about many available softwares ranging from Microsoft Speech, Sphinx, Julius etc just not sure which one will perform best and easiest to install. • Classes / instances in Ontology

  Hi, I'm trying to comprehend ontology basics. Here's an example: car (class) 2009 VW CC (sub-class or instance?) My neighbor's 2009 VW CC (instance) My issue is understanding what is "2009 VW CC" (as a car model). If you're making product model a sub-class in the ontology - all of a sudden your ontology becomes bloated with thousands of subclasses of a "car". That's redundant. At the same time we can't say "2009 VW CC" is an instance, at least it's not material instance of a class. Does it make sense to distinguish between regular instances and material (distinct physical objects)? At the other hand, if both are instances (of different nature so to say), then how can instance inherit properties / relations of a non-class?

• Using background-attachment:fixed in safari on the ipad

  I'm looking to recreate an effect similiar to the popular science app. Basically have one big background image and then have HTML/CSS layer on top of that. When the user scrolls the content, then background-position of the image should remain in place, and not scroll. Obviously in a 'regular' browser I would use background-attachment:fixed, but this doesn't seem to work on the ipad. I know position:fixed doesn't work as you might expect according to safari spec - but is there any way of achieving this?

• How can I export images from MS SQL Server to a file on disk?

  I have a User table that has all of their avatars saved in an image field. I'd like to just take that out of the database and store it as a regular file on disk. I looked around and saw some code for textcopy, but that doesn't seem to be on my machine for some reason. Here is the code I wrote up anyway. Anyone know a way to get this done? • Hybrid static/dynamic Google Map

  Ever noticed that when you go to maps.google.com and do a search (say, car wash), it renders a lot of results (represented by small circles) and a few prominent ones (seen as regular-size pins)? Notice how quickly it does this? From what I can tell from analyzing this in Firebug, much of this is generated on the server and sent to the client as a static image. However, it's still dynamic. You can still zoom in and out, or click on a result and see a dynamic InfoWindow rendered. Google have made the map quick and smooth using static images, while still making it flexible. Is there a way to do this kind of 'pre-loading' with my own Google Map (implemented with the Google Maps API)?

• Simple way to implement computer-go board in Java

  I want to make a simple Go board to design an Computer Go game. In a go game, you lie a "stone" (white or black) on a position where horizontal and vertical lines intersect. What are some simple ways to restrict users from placing their stones in other locations? Maybe I'm just not seeing a simple solution. EDIT I guess I should rephrase my question better: I want to know how to do the background image of Go board, so that I can lie my stones on the intersection of the horizontal and the vertical lines. I was thinking about getting a just regular Go board image, and when I'm actually rendering stones, I find right position of pixels to lie stones. However, that solution did not seem to be the best solution, since I need to worry about size of stone images and think about proportionality when I either expand or shrink the board window.

• Get stacktrace from stuck python process

  I have to run a legacy Zope2 website and have some grievance with it. The biggest issue is that, occasionally, it just locks up, running at 100% CPU load and not answering to requests anymore. While the problem isn't reproducible on a regular basis, one page containing 3 dynamic graphs triggers it sometimes, so I suspect some kind of race condition that leads to an endless loop or a stuck busywait. The problem is, I have not yet found a way to debug this thing. There's nothing in the Zope logs and nothing in the system logs. I tried the suggestions from this question to get a stacktrace, but the only signal that has any effect is SIGKILL. Is there another possibility to find out where exactly the process is when it gets stuck?

  I use an email registration and confirmation in my project (yes, I know about OpenID. In my counry, a main email service lack it). Sometimes users misspell their email addresses. I know about this due to "message could not be delivered" letters in a mailbox. A misspelled address is absolutely correct, because I check it with a regular expression - say, [email protected] intstead of [email protected]. And I do not want to duplicate a email field in a registration form (who likes it?). Request processing routine cannot wait for email delivery - it could take an unpredictable time. So, my script will return to user a confirmation message "An email was sent". And the user will wait for it forever (of cause, not - he/she will turn to an alternative project with a more perfect registration system). Does someone knows how it can be improved (in any programming language)?

  Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to write a Perl regular expression that for a given string, will return the first occurence of a character that is not consecutively duplicated. In other words, both preceded AND succeeded by characters different from itself (or start/end of string respectively). Example: IN: aabbcdecc OUT: c Please note that "not consecutively duplicated" does not mean "anywhere in the string". NOTE: it must be a pure regex expression. E.g. the solution that obviously comes to mind (clone the string, delete all the duplicates, and print the first remaining character) does not count, although it solves the problem. • B64 String Being Stripped From HttpService JSON Object Flex 4.0

  I am trying to decode some b64 images obtained from a web service in my Flex application. The response of this web service is a basic JSON object, with a property (B64Image) that contains the encoded string. The service works fine from my regular browser, however the b64 string gets stripped. So the object the result handler gets has a null value for B64Image. Anyone see something wrong here?   What kind of data structure could be used for an efficient nearest neighbor search in a large set of geo coordinates? With "regular" spatial index structures like R-Trees that assume planar coordinates, I see two problems (Are there others I have overlooked?): Wraparound at the poles and the International Date Line Distortion of distances near the poles How can these factors be allowed for? I guess the second one could compensated by transforming the coordinates. Can an R-Tree be modified to take wraparound into account? Or are there specialized geo-spatial index structures?

• msysgit bash shell- how to troubleshoot "cannot find command"

  I need help getting git extensions to run with msysgit. I have had bad luck with extensions git-tfs and git-fetchall, in both cases it is the same problem. The addon will require a file to be placed where git can find it (git-tfs.exe and git-fetchall.sh). I understand this to mean the files need to be in a directory that is in the 'PATH' environment variable. In both cases I get stuck at this point: $ git-diffall bash: git-diffall: command not found or: $ git-tfs bash: git-tfs: command not found When I run echo %PATH% from a regular command shell, it shows my path variable includes the directories where git-diffall and git-tfs are. How can I debug this, or am I missing something? Is there a way within msysgit to verify the command search path is what I expect?

• WCF - Disabling security in nettcpbinding (c#)

  Hello everyone. I'm trying to make a self hosted WCF app that uses nettcpbinding but works in an environment without a domain. It's just two regular windows pc's, one is the server and the other one will be the client. The problem with this is that when I try to get the client to connect it's rejected because of the security settings. Can you please point me in the right direction as to how I can get this scenario to work? Should I (if possible) disable security? Is there another (hopefully simple) way to accomplish this? • Library to parse ERB files

  I am attempting to parse, not evaluate, rails ERB files in a Hpricot/Nokogiri type manner. The files I am attempting to parse contain HTML fragments intermixed with dynamic content generated using ERB (standard rails view files) I am looking for a library that will not only parse the surrounding content, much the way that Hpricot or Nokogiri will but will also treat the ERB symbols, <%, <%= etc, as though they were html/xml tags. Ideally I would get back a DOM like structure where the <%, <%= etc symbols would be included as their own node types. I know that it is possible to hack something together using regular expressions but I was looking for something a bit more reliable as I am developing a tool that I need to run on a very large view code base where both the html content and the erb content are important. For example, content such as: blah blah blah <divMy Great Text <%= my_dynamic_expression %</div Would return a tree structure like: root - text_node (blah blah blah) - element (div) - text_node (My Great Text ) - erb_node (<%=)

• How to create an Audio CD using C# or Java

  I'm looking for an API that would allow me to create an audio CD from within a C# application. The CDs are to be created and closed in the same session (no rewrite required). Basically, my application locates files on behalf of a user, and, if a blank CD is present in the drive, creates an audio CD for the user. If no CD is present, it checks to see if there's a USB drive attached and copies the files there (this part I already know how to do). I would prefer to write this application in either C# or Java, as I'm most comfortable with those, but I don't know how hard it would be to create CDs using either language. There are several other questions here that deal with regular CDs, but I didn't see any discussing audio CDs.

Is there any way to change the regex so it bypass any ocurrence of [ with ] and its content when occurs between the opening tag or self-closing tag?
