• Win CE 6.0 client using WCF Services - Reduce Bandwidth

  We have a Win CE 6.0 device that is required to consume services that will be provided using WCF. We are attempting to reduce bandwidth usage as much as possible and with a simple test we have found that using UDP instead of HTTP saved significant data usage. I understand there are limitations regarding WCF on .NET Compact Framework 3.5 devices and was curious what people thought would be the appropriate way forward. Would it make sense to develop a custom UDP binding, and would that work for both sides? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

• Redirect URL from AJAX Calls

  All, I have an application written in Zend MVC Framework. So, naturally all regular requests and ajax requests go through /public/index.php. I want my application to support maintenance mode. So, in my index.php file, I have the following code: if( Zend_Registry::get('config')->maintenance == 'true' ) { header('Location:/maintenance.php'); } The issue is, when ajax requests are called they render servermaintenance.php inside the page instead of redirecting to this page. How can I make sure it gets redirected instead of getting rendered? Thanks

• Error 3032 during EF 4.0 validation

  Hi guys. I have a table that has a column called "rowguid" with default value of newguid(). After I delete the generated property in the Entity Framework 4.0 designer, whenever I try to build or validate the model I receive the following error message. Error 3023: Problem in mapping fragments starting at line 1460:Column People.rowguid in table People must be mapped: It has no default value and is not nullable. It's an obvious error message but the problem is that the column HAS default value. Does anyone knows what the problem is? Thanks.

• Manipulating individual rows of a datagrid

  Hey, recently I started working on a webpage that has a datagrid. I understand how to add datasources and that sort of thing, or at least I am starting to get it. But my question is about manipulating individual rows or cells. Is that only possible during the databind event handler, that is the only place I have been able to do it so far. I am sure there is a more abstract way of doing the things I want to do, but there are times where I just want to say Datagrid.add(row). I mean, if the datagrid is made up of a certain object type, can I make a new object of that type and just chuck it on the end? I am still new to this stuff, so perhaps what I want to do would defeat the purpose of this added abstraction, but figured I would ask around. Thanks for any advice, tips, or tricks people feel like sharing. Edit: for clarification I am using c#, entity framework, asp.net, and an SQL database.

• LinkDemand error on webserver when using TrackSource

  Hi, On a webserver (shared hosting provider) I published a website with a ADO.Net Framework model in use with MySql Connector 6.3.1. When I request a page, a Security Exception will be happen with this error messages: "LinkDemand The type of the first permission that failed was: System.Security.Permissions.SecurityPermission The Zone of the assembly that failed was: MyComputer ". This exception raised when code collect the listeners of a tracksource: public class MySqlTrace { private static TraceSource source = new TraceSource("mysql"); static MySqlTrace() { foreach (TraceListener listener in source.Listeners) // <-- Exception throw here { // ... } } } The web.config doesn't have any trace data or system.diagnostics. My question is, why will a get a LinkDemand security exception during collecting the source listeners. What can maybe be wrong in here?

• Why do a small amount of add/deletes take several seconds in EF4?

  Using the Entity Framework 4. I have created a Code First database in the past and a piece of code needs to delete and add 16 objects, this takes 6 seconds each. That's 300+ ms for each query! The deletes/adds occur in a foreach scope and there is a SaveChanges() outside the foreach. In the above image you see that each takes 6 seconds, which is 34% of the time, for 16 calls. That doesn't sound normal to me... Why is this and how can I improve the performance? If there is no solution: Are there any workarounds I can use? It would be a pain to rewrite my project...

  I'm trying to write a Java app that imports a data file. The process is as follows Create Transaction Delete all rows from datatable Load data file into datatable Commit OR Rollback if any errors were encountered. The data loaded in step 3 is mostly the same as the data deleted in step3. The deletion is performed using the following DetachedCriteria criteria = DetachedCriteria.forClass(myObject.class); List<myObject> myObjects = hibernateTemplate.findByCriteria(criteria); hibernateTemplate.deleteAll(myObjects); When I then load the datafile, i get the following exception nested exception is org.hibernate.NonUniqueObjectException: a different object with the same identifier value was already associated with the session: The whole process needs to take place in transaction. And I don't really want to have to compare the import file / data table and then perform an insert/update/delete to get them into sync. Any help would be appreciated.

  Hi all, I am writing a small script to upload and detect MIME type, using Zend Framework. For the design purpose, I can't use Zend_Form but normal instead. And I simply apply from the manual : $adapter = new Zend_File_Transfer_Adapter_Http(); $files = $adapter-getFileInfo(); $mime = $files-getMimeType(); But the system inform that the funcion getMimeType() does not existed. Then, I tried: $adapter = new Zend_File_Transfer(); $files = $adapter-getFileInfo(); $mime = $files-getMimeType(); This time, it didn't work either. So, how can I get the MIME type ?   hello I just want to ask whether we can call a view method to a model? I know that we can call it on our controller in zend framework. Like if I want to call the url method of view on my controller I can call it like this $this->view->url(array(),''); and on the view we just can call it by $this->url(array(),''); But When I tried to call the same method on my model by $this->view->url(array(),''); it generates an error of call to undefined method url. Now I want to ask whether it is possible to call view method to a model? If yes then how? What Am I doing wrong. Thanks

Now in order to check concurrency condition I tried the following use case opened application in chrome and firefox browser. deleted user in firefox now trying to delete the same user in chrome browser I get exception org.hibernate.StaleObjectStateException .. which is right .. since I am trying to delete an object which doesn't exists.   Using Play! framework and it's JPASupport class I have run into a problem with a legacy database. I have the following class: @Entity @Table(name="product_catalog") public class ProductCatalog extends JPASupport { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.IDENTITY) public Integer product_catalog; @OneToOne @JoinColumn(name="upper_catalog") public ProductCatalog upper_catalog; public String name; } Some product catalogs don't have an upper catalog, and this is referenced as 0 in a legacy database. If I supply the upper_catalog as NULL, then expectedly JPA inserts a NULL value to that database column. How could I force the null values to be 0 when writing to the database and the other way around when reading from the database?

  I am using ADO.NET Mocking Context Generator plugin for my Entity Framework model. I have not started on using mocks yet, just trying to fix generated entity and context classes to make application run as before without exceptions. I've already fixed T4 template to support SaveChanges method. Now I've got another problem: when I try to access any navigation property it is set to null. All the primitive fields inherited from DB table are set and correct. So what I am doing is the following using (var context = MyContext()) { var order = context.Orders.Where(p => p.Id == 7); var product = order.Products; } in this case product is set to null. But that was not a case while using default code generator, it used to return real product object. Thanks ahead for any suggestions!

  I have a login controller that use the hibernate uniqueResult method. Everything works fine when i test it in eclipse's tomcat server. But when i deploy my webapps to tomcat server (on the same machine) it fails: it always returns null even i use the correct credential.
