Simple PHP upload form not working

Hi all, I seem to run into so many issues when dealing with writing to directories. If someone could please look over this script, and tell me why it's not working, I'd be so appreciative. Upon uploading the file from the form, I don't get anything.. It doesnt output any errors, it simply just refreshes. Why do I get error "prefix [..] is not defined" when I try to use my jsf custom tag?

I created a jsf custom tag (I'm not sure that it's correct, I could miss something easily, so I attached code below). Parse Nested XML tags with the same name

Let's take a simple XML document: <x> <e> <e> <e>Whatever 1</e> </e> </e> <e> <e> <e>Whatever 2</e> </e> </e> <e> <e> <e>Whatever 3</e> </e> </e> </x> Using the standard org.w3c.dom, I can get the nodes in X by doing.. NodeList fullnodelist = doc.getElementsByTagName("x"); But if I want to return the next set of "e" I try to use something like .. Element element = (Element) fullnodelist.item(0); NodeList nodes = pelement.getElementsByTagName("e"); Expecting it to return "3" nodes (because there are 3 sets of "e"), but instead, it returns "9" - becuase it gets all entries with "e" apperently. This would be fine in the above case, because I could probably iterate through and find what I'm looking for. The problem I'm having is that when the XML file looks like the following: <x> <e> <pattern>whatever</pattern> <blanks> <e>Something Else</e> </blanks> </e> <e> <pattern>whatever</pattern> <blanks> <e>Something Else</e> </blanks> </e> </x> When I request the "e" value, it returns 4, instead of (what i expect) 2. Am I just not understanding how the DOM parsing works? Typically in the past I have used my own XML documents so I would never name the items like this, but unfortunately this is not my XML file and I have no choice to work like this. I'm using J2SE for this, so options are rather limited. I can't use any third party XML Parsers. Anyway, if anyone is still with me and has a suggestion, it would be appreciated.

XmlWriter and lower ASCII characters

Ran into an interesting problem today on my CodePaste.net site: The main RSS and ATOM feeds on the site were broken because one code snippet on the site contained a lower ASCII character (CHR(3)). I don't think this was done on purpose but it was enough to make the feeds fail. After quite a bit of debugging and throwing in a custom error handler into my actual feed generation code that just spit out the raw error instead of running it through the ASP.NET MVC and my own error pipeline I found the actual error. According to the XML spec it looks like any characters below 0x09 are invalid. If you generate an XML document in .NET with an embedded  entity (as mine did to create the error above), you tend to get an XML document error when displaying it in a viewer. For example, here's what the result of my feed output looks like with the invalid character embedded inside of Chrome which displays RSS feeds as raw XML by default: Other browsers show similar error messages. The nice thing about Chrome is that you can actually view source and jump down to see the line that causes the error which allowed me to track down the actual message that failed. If you create an XML document that contains a 0x03 character the XML writer fails outright with the error: '', hexadecimal value 0x03, is an invalid character. The good news is that this behavior is overridable so XML output can at least be created by using the XmlSettings object when configuring the XmlWriter instance. In my RSS configuration code this looks something like this:MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(); var settings = new XmlWriterSettings() { CheckCharacters = false }; XmlWriter writer = XmlWriter.Create(ms,settings); and voila the feed now generates. Now generally this is probably NOT a good idea, because as mentioned above these characters are illegal and if you view a raw XML document you'll get validation errors. Luckily though most RSS feed readers however don't care and happily accept and display the feed correctly, which is good because it got me over an embarrassing hump until I figured out a better solution. How to handle extended Characters? I was glad to get the feed fixed for the time being, but now I was still stuck with an interesting dilemma. CodePaste.net accepts user input for code snippets and those code snippets can contain just about anything. This means that ASP.NET's standard request filtering cannot be applied to this content. The code content displayed is encoded before display so for the HTML end the CHR(3) input is not really an issue. While invisible characters are hardly useful in user input it's not uncommon that odd characters show up in code snippets. You know the old fat fingering that happens when you're in the middle of a coding session and those invisible characters do end up sometimes in code editors and then end up pasted into the HTML textbox for pasting as a Codepaste.net snippet. The question is how to filter this text? Looking back at the XML Charset Spec it looks like all characters below 0x20 (space) except for 0x09 (tab), 0x0A (LF), 0x0D (CR) are illegal. I want to create navigation that is common across the entire site, but when I place the Html.Action into my master page, it only works on views associated with 1 controller. How do I return a message if $_GET is null or does not match any database entries?

I am working on designing an IT Asset database. Here I am working on a page used to view details on a specific asset determined by an asset id. Here I grab $id from $_GET["id"]; When $id is null, the page does not load. When $id does not match any entry within the database, the page loads but no asset table is printed. In both these cases, I would like to display a message like "There is no database entry for that Asset ID" How would this be handled? I have recently been making a login 'representation' which is not secure. So before answering, please note I am aware of security risks etc., and this will not be on a live site. Afetr using the Model library (see this) for my Maven pom.xml during this weeks I jumped on this error while attempting to write a ConfiguratonContainer into the pom.xml. The javadoc for Model says: public void setConfiguration(Object configuration) Set the configuration as DOM object. Parameters: configuration - So I made some xml with Document (org.w3c.dom.Document) and the xml parser standar javax library. You know the code (it's through all the net) but I paste it here... DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); DocumentBuilder parser = factory.newDocumentBuilder(); Document doc =parser.newDocument(); And then you fill the code with Element declaration,a lot of appendChild and such. And tried to make it work. Doesn't seem to do well. First tried using plugin.setConfiguration(doc); But it didn't work. Then I tried Obejct obj = doc; plugin.setConfiguration(obj); But it didn't work. Then I searched the net for answers, and guess... It didn't work. There are like 0 people using this library (maven.model) in all the net. So here am I again, asking the senseis for help. Where is my error? Jersey 2 in GlassFish 4 - First Java EE 7 Implementation Now Integrated (TOTD #182)

The JAX-RS 2.0 specification released their Early Draft 3 recently. One of my earlier blogs explained as the features were first introduced in the very first draft of the JAX-RS 2.0 specification. Last week was another milestone when the first Java EE 7 specification implementation was added to GlassFish 4 builds. Jakub blogged about Jersey 2 integration in GlassFish 4 builds. Most of the basic functionality is working but EJB, CDI, and Validation are still a TBD. Here is a simple Tip Of The Day (TOTD) sample to get you started with using that functionality. Create a Java EE 6-style Maven project mvn archetype:generate -DarchetypeGroupId=org.codehaus.mojo.archetypes -DarchetypeArtifactId=webapp-javaee6 -DgroupId=example -DartifactId=jersey2-helloworld -DarchetypeVersion=1.5 -DinteractiveMode=false Note, this is still a Java EE 6 archetype, at least for now. Open the project in NetBeans IDE as it makes it much easier to edit/add the files. Hi guys, The following piece of JavaScript code is a cross browser way to add/remove event handler. It will save a deleting method as a property of an HTML element object. Now it works well in FireFox but not in IE6. I can't find out why so I came here for help. Breaking 1NF to model subset constraints. Does this sound sane?

My first question here. Appologize if it is in the wrong forum but this seems pretty conceptual. I am looking at doing something that goes against conventional wisdom and want to get some feedback as to whether this is totally insane or will result in problems, so critique away! I am on PostgreSQL 9.1 but may be moving to 9.2 for this part of this project. To re-iterate: Does it seem sane to break 1NF in this way? I am not looking for debugging code so much as where people see problems that this might lead. The Problem In double entry accounting, financial transactions are journal entries with an arbitrary number of lines. Each line has either a left value (debit) or a right value (credit) which can be modelled as a single value with negatives as debits and positives as credits or vice versa. The sum of all debits and credits must equal zero (so if we go with a single amount field, sum(amount) must equal zero for each financial journal entry). SQL-based databases, pretty much required for this sort of work, have no way to express this sort of constraint natively and so any approach to enforcing it in the database seems rather complex. The Write Model The journal entries are append only. There is a possibility we will add a delete model but it will be subject to a different set of restrictions and so is not applicable here. If and when we allow deletes, we will probably do them using a simple ON DELETE CASCADE designation on the foreign key, and require that deletes go through a dedicated stored procedure which can enforce the other constraints. So inserts and selects have to be accommodated but updates and deletes do not for this task. My Proposed Solution My proposed solution is to break first normal form and model constraints on arrays of tuples, with a trigger that breaks the rows out into another table. There will be a status table that will track approval status allowing for separation of duties, etc. However the goal here is to prevent unbalanced transactions. Any feedback? Does this sound entirely insane? Standard Solutions? In getting to this point I have to say I have looked at four different current ERP solutions to this problems: Represent every line item as a debit and a credit against different accounts. Use of foreign keys against the line item table to enforce an eventual running total of 0 Use of constraint triggers in PostgreSQL Forcing all validation here solely through the app logic. My concerns are that #1 is pretty limiting and very hard to audit internally. It's not programmer transparent and so it strikes me as being difficult to work with in the future. The second strikes me as being very complex and required a series of contraints and foreign keys against self to make work, and therefore it strikes me as complex, hard to sort out at least in my mind, and thus hard to work with. The fourth could be done as we force all access through stored procedures anyway and this is the most common solution (have the app total things up and throw an error otherwise). However, I think proof that a constraint is followed is superior to test cases, and so the question becomes whether this in fact generates insert anomilies rather than solving them. If this is a solved problem it isn't the case that everyone agrees on the solution....

Styling definition lists - IE clear:both bug

Hi guys, I'm trying to style a definition list properly. So far I've got the style that I wanted in Firefox 3.5 and IE 8 but I couldn't get IE6 and IE7 to behave properly... I've already tried any kind of hack and trickery I could possibly think of. It seems like the "clear:both" on the dt doesn't work in IE<=7... Below is the "test page" that I'm using. The markup of the definition list is built on purpose: I wanna test different scenarios such as multiple definitions or empty one. Check it in Firefox 3.5 to see how it should look like. [BEGINNER] Javascript Pop Ups

Hey All, My boss has asked for a page that will not change to have two timed pop ups load. I have found code and edited it to what I had thought it should do, but it is only loading the last onLoad event. I am a designer and I have helped with making webpages, but Javascript is so far outside of what I can understand. I have already learned how to use the single pop up and spent a whiiile learning the timeouts, but I cannot seem to get it to work with multiple popup functions. Am i not understanding the scopes of JSF? or are they not testing it properly? Further, if you remove c:forEach and replace it with ui:repeat, then it works fine. Waiting for replies to confirm whether it is bug or it is intentional to stop the programmers from using jstl?

IE7 is making my life miserable! Getting gaps between html table columns (w/ colspan) with css togg

Copy/paste this html code snippet and try it out in IE7. When you toggle the hidden columns it leaves a gap between the columns. In Firefox it works fine, the columns touch when minimized. Haven't tried IE8 yet, would be curious to hear how it works there. Any ideas? I've tried a bunch of things in the CSS like table-layout:fixed but no luck. Note: Not looking for a different toggling method because the table I'm really dealing with is 50+ columns wide and 4000+ rows so looping/jquery techniques are too slow. Ensuring a divs content has changed over time in Selenium

I have a div that contains a slideshow. ( http://film.robinhoodtax.org/issues/education ) I am using Selenium to test it. So far I have been using the HTML/Selenium script below to validate that the slideshow is actually working. But my assertEval is failing. How can I correctly detect the slideshow and make sure it is moving?. Data Source Security Part 5

If you read through the first four parts of this series on data source security, you should be an expert on this focus area. There is one more small topic to cover related to WebLogic Resource permissions. After that comes the test, I mean example, to see with a real set of configuration parameters what the results are with some concrete values. WebLogic Resource Permissions All of the discussion so far has been about database credentials that are (eventually) used on the database side. WLS has resource credentials to control what WLS users are allowed to access JDBC resources. These can be defined on the Policies tab on the Security tab associated with the data source. There are four permissions: “reserve” (get a new connection), “admin”, “shrink”, and reset (plus the all-inclusive “ALL”); we will focus on “reserve” here because we are talking about getting connections. By default, JDBC resource permissions are completely open – anyone can do anything. As soon as you add one policy for a permission, then all other users are restricted. For example, if I add a policy so that “weblogic” can reserve a connection, then all other users will fail to reserve connections unless they are also explicitly added. The validation is done for WLS user credentials only, not database user credentials. Configuration of resources in general is described at “Create policies for resource instances” http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24329_01/apirefs.1211/e24401/taskhelp/security/CreatePoliciesForResourceInstances.html. This feature can be very useful to restrict what code and users can get to your database. There are the three use cases: API Use database credentials User for permission checking getConnection() True or false Current WLS user getConnection(user,password) False User/password from API getConnection(user,password) True Current WLS user If a simple getConnection() is used or database credentials are enabled, the current user that is authenticated to the WLS system is checked. If database credentials are not enabled, then the user and password on the API are used. Example The following is an actual example of the interactions between identity-based-connection-pooling-enabled, oracle-proxy-session, and use-database-credentials. On the database side, the following objects are configured.- Database users scott; jdbcqa; jdbcqa3- Permission for proxy: alter user jdbcqa3 grant connect through jdbcqa;- Permission for proxy: alter user jdbcqa grant connect through jdbcqa; The following WebLogic Data Source objects are configured.- Users weblogic, wluser- Credential mapping “weblogic” to “scott”- Credential mapping "wluser" to "jdbcqa3"- Data source descriptor configured with user “jdbcqa”- All tests are run with Set Client ID set to true (more about that below).- All tests are run with oracle-proxy-session set to false (more about that below). If this was not an Oracle thin driver, the one case with the non-null Proxy in the above table would throw an exception because proxy session is only supported, implicitly or explicitly, with the Oracle thin driver. When oracle-proxy-session is set to true, the only cases that will pass (with a proxy of "jdbcqa") are the following.1. Setting use-database-credentials to true and doing getConnection(jdbcqa3,…) or getConnection().2. Setting use-database-credentials to false and doing getConnection(wluser, …) or getConnection(). Summary There are many options to choose from for data source security. Considerations include the number and volatility of WLS and Database users, the granularity of data access, the depth of the security identity (property on the connection or a real user), performance, coordination of various components in the software stack, and driver capabilities. Now that you have the big picture (remember that table in part 1), you can make a more informed choice.

using getScript to import plugin on page using multiple versions of jQuery

I am developing an app on a page that uses jQuery 1.2.6, but I would like to use jQuery 1.4.2 for my app. I really don't like to use multiple versions of jQuery like this but the copy on the page (1.2.6) is something I have no control over. For a while, everything worked fine. However, I decided to want to use a jQuery plugin in a separate file. I tested it and it acted funny. After some experimentation, I found out that the plugin was using the old version of jQuery, when I wanted it to use the new version. Does anyone know how to import and run a js file from the context within the function wrapping the code in myStuff.js? In case this matters to anyone, here is how I know the plugin is using the old version, and what I did to try to solve the problem: I made a file called test.js, consisting of this line: alert($.fn.jquery); I tried referencing the file in a script tag the way external Javascript is usually included, below myStuff.js, and it came up as 1.2.6, like I expected. I then got rid of that script tag and put this line in myStuff.js: $.getScript("test.js"); and it still came back as 1.2.6. That wasn't a big surprise -- according to jQuery's documentation, scripts included that way are executed in the global context. I then tried doing this instead: var testFn = $.proxy($.getScript, this); testFn("test.js"); and it still came back as 1.2.6. After some tinkering, I found out that the "this" keyword referred to the window, which I assume means the global context. I am looking for something to put in place of "this" to refer to the context of the enclosing function, or some other way to make the code in the file run from the enclosing function. I noticed that if I copy and paste the code, it works fine, but it is a big plugin that is used in many places, and I would prefer not to clutter up my file with their code. I am out of ideas. Does anyone else know how to do this?
