    I am learning how to write test cases using Rspec. I have a simple Post Comments Scaffold where a Post can have many Comments. I am testing this using Rspec. How should i go about checking for Post :has_many :comments. Should I stub Post.comments method and then check this with by returning a mock object of array of comment objects? Is testing for AR associations really required ?

    I'm in the process of learning SQL, and I need a way of verifying that my SQL queries are valid (i.e. no syntax errors). I also would like to check what results they yield on a test database of my choosing and structure. I'm using embedded firebird in my C# .NET application, so I don't really have any tools to work with. Anyone have any tips? Perhaps there are SQL administrators/query IDEs out there that work with Firebird?

    I have a set of points in 3d space and I want to be able to categorize the shape that best fits them - cube, sphere, cylinder, planar (flat) etc. I've looked at supervised/machine learning but since I need first generate a large training data set that's not really suitable. My dream solution would be a java library with a wonderful magical function something like : public enum ShapeType { CUBE, SPHERE, CYLINDER, PLANAR } public ShapeType CategorizeShapeFromPoints( 3DPoint[] points ) However, any and all help will be appreciated.     I'm learning C++ from scratch, and as such I don't have an expert understanding of C. In C++, you can't cast a void pointer to whatever, and I understand the reasons behind that. However, I know that in C, you can. What are the possible reasons for this? It just seems like it's be a huge hole in type safety, which (to me) seems like a bad thing.
