    I use the ddwrt:FormatDateTime function to format the output like yyyyMMdd. inputs like 01/01/2010 work fine but when the day gets over the number 12 the output is an emtpy string. ddwrt:FormatDate(string(@myDate), 1033, 'yyyyMMdd') At first I thought it could be a language specific problem but even none of those combinations work: 13/01/2010 01/13/2010 13.01.2010

    Hello everyone, Maven is very impressive tool, I've used it for few weeks now and almost every day I learn something new about maven. What do you think are the best practices?     Hi stackoverflow'ers, I've spent the entire day trying to find relevant resources about doing jstat on the WebSphere Process ID. I have WebSphere Application Server 7.0 installed on Windows 2003. I did this command: jstat -gcutil [PID] 1000 But I kept getting "[PID] not found" message. Any idea how to resolve this issue? Or Java's jstat utility does not probe into IBM's derivative JVM?     Basically, i need the equivalent of T-SQL CONVERT(NVARCHAR(10), datevalue, 126) I've tried: from t in ctx.table select t.Date.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd") but it throws not supported exception from t in ctx.table select "" + t.Date.Year + "-" + t.Date.Month + "-" + t.Date.Day but i don't think it's an usable solution, because i might need to be able to change the format. The only option I see is to use Convert.ToString(t.Date, FormatProvider), but i need a format provider, and I'm not sure it works either.

  • Android sending lots of SMS messages

    I have a app, which sends a lot of SMS messages to a central server. Each user will probably send ~300 txts/day. SMS messages are being used as a networking layer, because SMS is almost everywhere and mobile internet is not. The app is intended for use in a lot of 3rd world countries where mobile internet is not ubiquitous. When I hit a limit of 100 messages, I get a prompt for each message sent. The prompt says "A large number of SMS messages are being sent". This is not ok for the user to get prompted each time to ask if the app can send a text message. The user doesn't want to get 30 consecutive prompts. I found this android source file with google. It could be out of date, I can't tell. Back in the day, we were organizing our "model"/business logic code into VBScript classes, or into VB COM components. Of course, now we have the additional power of c# and the .net framework classes. Besides the high-level oo and other capabilities in c# and .Net, what are the other major differences between the original ASP and ASP.Net MVC?

The application have a good internet connection and there is no problem reaching the app server-side api. I see in analytics that lots of startups and click-events the past few days are lost, even I know the traffic is normal since i can see statistics from the the server api. In the analytics reports I see a day by day under-reporting. So the problems seems to be spreading/growing to all the devices using this application. Im wondering why google does not answer this in their mail-groups - several people have complained about this...well, well... If there is nothing I can do to fix it, I guess its not my fault that it got broken. But i got a feeling it is, since the problem got dramatically worse on the last deploy to Android market. I was looking through the style guide, http://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0008/, which "strongly recommends" using a 4-spaces indentation style for new projects. But I just hate this idea! In my opinion, tabs are better for this purpose. What annoyances could crop up one day if another developer wanted to work on my tab-delimited files?

    I used to have DevPartner Profiler Community Edition installed on my machine, which was free to use indefinitely and was compatible with Visual Studio 2003. After I have rebuild my machine and downloaded a newer version (version 8.1) of the software, it turns out it is actually a 45 day trial eventhough it is still called a Community Edition. I have tried looking for an older version, but haven't been able to find it. Could someone help me out please?

  • Why is code quality not popular?

    I like my code being in order, i.e. properly formatted, readable, designed, tested, checked for bugs, etc. In fact I am fanatic about it. (Maybe even more than fanatic...) But in my experience actions helping code quality are hardly implemented. (By code quality I mean the quality of the code you produce day to day. The whole topic of software quality with development processes and such is much broader and not the scope of this question.) Code quality does not seem popular. Some examples from my experience include Probably every Java developer knows JUnit, almost all languages implement xUnit frameworks, but in all companies I know, only very few proper unit tests existed (if at all). I know that it's not always possible to write unit tests due to technical limitations or pressing deadlines, but in the cases I saw, unit testing would have been an option. If a developer wanted to write some tests for his/her new code, he/she could do so. My conclusion is that developers do not want to write tests. Static code analysis is often played around in small projects, but not really used to enforce coding conventions or find possible errors in enterprise projects. Usually even compiler warnings like potential null pointer access are ignored. Conference speakers and magazines would talk a lot about EJB3.1, OSGI, Cloud and other new technologies, but hardly about new testing technologies or tools, new static code analysis approaches (e.g. SAT solving), development processes helping to maintain higher quality, how some nasty beast of legacy code was brought under test, ... (I did not attend many conferences and it propably looks different for conferences on agile topics, as unit testing and CI and such has a higer value there.) So why is code quality so unpopular/considered boring? EDIT: Thank your for your answers. Most of them concern unit testing (and has been discussed in a related question). But there are lots of other things that can be used to keep code quality high (see related question). Even if you are not able to use unit tests, you could use a daily build, add some static code analysis to your IDE or development process, try pair programming or enforce reviews of critical code.

However, since our tables are very large, sometimes, I get a command timeout exception.     Good day! I have used LINQ2SQL with MS SQL 2005, but now I need to use it with MS SQL 2000. I have found only article on MSDN that tells about Skip() and Take() oddities on MS SQL 2000 (that's because it lacks ROW_NUMBER(), I suppose) and nothing more. Anyway, does anybody have expirience with LINQ2SQL and MS SQL 2000 combination. P.S. Just wondering: is it possible to model LINQ2SQL class on view, not a real table?
