• Visually Viewing and Editing a Two-Dimensional Array - VB/C#

  I've never personally used any of the Data controls within Visual Studio. I need to view and edit a two-dimensional byte array, 16x15 objects. Is there any control capable of editing this information? I've tried to access data with the DataViewGrid, but am not sure how to use it. It would be great to edit this information via rows and columns, like how you can in Excel. Thank you! Times like this I wish I could just use multiple text boxes and assign them each an index value. Oh VB6 how I miss you :P

  I have a function that returns a SYS_REFCURSOR that has a single row but multiple columns. What I'm looking to do is to be able to have a SQL query that has nested sub-queries using the column values returned in the SYS_REFCURSOR. Alternative ideas such as types, etc would be appreciated.   Hi, I would like a query that will shouw a sum of columns with a default value for missing data. For example assume I have a table as follows: type_lookup: id name 1 self 2 manager 3 peer And a table as follows data: id type_lookup_id value 1 1 1 2 1 4 3 2 9 4 2 1 5 2 9 6 1 5 7 2 6 8 1 2 9 1 1 After running a query I would like a result set as follows: type_lookup_id value 1 13 2 25 3 0 I would like all rows in type_lookup table to be included in the result set - even if they don't appear in the data table. • mysql database design: thread and reply of a reply?

  in my forum i have threads and replies. one thread has multiple replies. but then, a reply can be a reply of an reply (like google wave). because of that a reply has to have a column "reply_id" so it can point to the parent reply. but then, the "top-level" replies (the replies directly under the thread) will have no parent reply. so how can i fix this? how should the columns be in the reply table (and thread table). at the moment it looks like this: threads: id title body replies: id thread_id (all replies will belong to a thread) reply_id (here lies the problem. the top-level replies wont have a parent reply) body what could a smart design look like to enable reply a reply?

  Hi every one, I am very much new to Drupal but am loving it to start with. I got struck at a point with respect to theaming. I have a region called 'footer-teaser' just above footer. Its width is 800px. its been split into 3 equal size columns. Each column has the following. Image of size 120x120 Some teaser text Link to 'read more' The design requirement is all the above should be editable by the admin from the admin interface. If its static i would have hardcoded this but since the requirement is dynamic, i am not aware of how to achieve this. I have customised page.tpl for other sections of the page except this. I am sure someone else would have faced this issue before and was wondering if anyone can direct me in the right direction? Even better if an example is provided. Cheers RD

  Hi all: So i have a large(ish) file in a csv format, that contains a column that has html and i need to transform that to plain text (ie readable by people ,ie with no script tags) I dont have much experience with ruby, but it seems like the perfect language to do this The File should still be in a cv format after the parsing ( ie, other columns should nto be disturbed) Helpz?   Can someone enlighthen me with regards to Linq please? I have a dataset that is populated via a SQL Stored Procedure, the format of which is below: Country | Brand | Variant | 2004 | 2005 | 2006 | 2007 | 2008 The number of rows varies between 50 and several thousand. What I'm trying to do is use Linq to interrogate the dataset (there will be several Linq queries based on user options), but a simple example would be to SUM the year columns based on Brand. • Can you modify SQL DB schema in a transaction to know if all changes were applied?

  As part of my (new) database version control methodology, I'm writing a "change script" and want the change script to insert a new row into the SchemaChangeLog table if the script is executed successfully, or to reverse changes if any single change in the script fails. Is it possible to do schema changes in a transaction and only if it gets committed to then do the INSERT?   I'm creating a PDF file from a txt-template with tcpdf ([Example 8][1]). The txt-template looks like this: SALUTATION FIRSTNAME LASTNAME STREET CURRENTDATE SOMEMOREINFORMATION MYWEBSITE I replace those markers with the correct value. So that it would look like this: Mr. John Doe Downingstreet 10 14th May, 2010 [email protected] www.stackoverflow.com In this example, when I replace the values, the indention of the date is dependent on the length of the street name (which I don't want). I could solve this issue with str_pad but the problem is, I normally use three columns and there are lines which only have content in col1 and col3 as in the last line. How can I solve that problem? Is there something like the "overwrite" function in Word, that when you write, the text just gets overwritten? Thanks in advance.

• Where do I put the Current user query so as to not repeat per controller?

  I have a standard query that gets the current user object: @user = User.find_by_email(session[:email]) but I'm putting it as the first line in every single controller action which is obviously not the best way to do this. What is the best way to refactor this? Do I put this as a method in the Application controller (and if so, can you just show me a quick example)? Do I put the entire @user object into the session (has about 50 columns and some sensitive ones like is_admin)? Or is there another way to remove this kind of redundancy?

  Hello, everybody! I have a file in which a matrix is stored. This file has a RandomAccessFile type. This matrix is stored by columns. I mean that in an i-th row of this matrix an i-th column (of a real matrix) is stored. There is an example: i-th row: 1 2 3 4 (in the file). That means that the real matrix has an i-th column: (1 2 3 4)(transpose). I need to save this matrix in natural way (by rows) in a new file, which I will then open with FileReader and display with TestArea. DO you know, how to do that? If so, please help =)

  I have this JTable on my Swing app with the autoCreateRowSorter enabled. My table only has 3 columns, two strings and one int, it works well for all of them when I click the column headers. However, I'm looking for way to do it programatically. I wanted to set the "initial state" for this table. With the Windows look and feel, the column header (when sorted) has a little arrow showing the sort order. But at startup that doesn't show, I have to do one initial click. How can I do that by code?

  Hello. I have a tab delimited file with 5 columns and need to retrieve a count of just the number of unique lines from column 2. I would normally do this with Perl/Python but I am forced to use the shell for this one. I have successfully in the past used *nix uniq function piped to wc but it looks like I am going to have to use awk in here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.   I have a table with separate columns for months, days and a varchar column for 6 hour increments for each day ('12AM', '6AM', '12PM', '6PM'). There's also a column that's supposed to have calculated numeric values for each of those 6 hour increments. These calculated values come from some reference table. This reference table contains values for each day for several months broken down by hour where each hour has its own column. So, basically, I have to add the values for each 6 hour increment. I have no idea how to associate the correct values in the reference table to those 6 hour increments. I will really appreciate any help on this.

  I am using a winform datagridview. The datagridviews datasource is a binding source. The gridview is using the CellEndEdit event to update the datasource. The datasource gets updated and the follwing property is set: public List<Collection> Collections { set { this.SubjectCollectionDOBindingSource.DataSource = value; } } If I end the cell editing with the 'enter' key, all works as expected. If I end the edit by clicking another cell, the data is updated as expeceted but subsequent clicks on cell columns do not correspond with the highlighted cell: ie the highlighted cell is the previously clicked cell. What steps are considered best practice when updating a gridview so that when all is said and done it is in the desired state?

Each session starts at 0. ADD adds an amount, while SET sets it. I want a function to return the end value of a session, e.g. SELECT session_val(1); --returns 45 SELECT session_val(2); --returns 55 Is it possible to write such a function/query? I don't know how to do any iteration-like things with SQL, or if it's possible at all.
