• where to put the unittest for library in rails

  Hello, I am a ruby and rails newbie. And I am working on a rails application with RadRails. RadRails has a "Switch to Test" function for my controller, model, etc. but not for my library. if I have class Foo::Bar in /lib/foo/bar.rb, where should I put the unittest for it? or should I separate the foo library in a separated project?   Normally to pass parameters via in RSpec we do: params[:my_key] = my_value get :my_method Where my_method deals with what it received from params. But in my controller I have a method, which takes args directly i.e.: def my_method(*args) ... end How do I call the method with those args from within the test? I've tried get :my_method(args) but Ruby interpreter complains about syntax error.

Cucumber is actually not too bad, but the full rSpec suite currently takes nearly 20 minutes to run. The systems I can find (hydra, parallel-test) look like they use forking, which isn't the ideal solution for the JRuby environment.

• handling javaScript alerts when running a selenium test?

  Hi I am am running some selenium tests(ruby) on my web page and as i enter an invalid characters in to a text box i have the JavaScript throw a alert like so if(isNaN($(this).val()) || Number($(this).val().valueOf() <=0)){ alert("Please Enter A Number"); } how can i handle this alert when its made and close the pop up? i tried to use the wait_for_pop_up() and close() but i think that's only for browser pop up's and not JavaScript alerts. any ideas? thanks

  Let's say I have these two floats: a = 50.0 b = 1048576.0 c = a/b By printing c, I get this: 4.76837158203125e-005 Doing the division with calc.exe gives me the result 0.0000476837158203125 . Is there any way of achieving the same thing with Ruby without installing any additional gem?

  I am trying to use the Sunlight API gem with a Rails project. I have installed the gem and can successfully use it from irb. However, when I put the require statement (require 'sunlight') in sunlight.rb in config/initializers, I get the following error: /opt/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-3.0.0.beta3/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:209:in `require': no such file to load -- sunlight (LoadError) I checked the permissions on the gems directory, and it is world readable/executable. • What jquery rails 3 tutorial has worked well for you?

  Hi! I have looked at several tutorials involving rails 3 and jquery. The tutorial at http://www.blog.bridgeutopiaweb.com/post/how-to-use-jquery-for-rails-3/ looked promising. However, I get the errors of document.on is not a function and $("a[data-remote=true]").livequery is not a function I get the feeling that I should look at another tutorial or just use jquery raw and not install a ruby gem for jquery.   I am not able to validate passord with ()-=_+ , i.e it should accept these special characters but its not working when i use the regular expression as `validates_format_of :password, :with => /^[A-Za-z0-9. ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ - + = ]*\z/` its only excepting till * but not accepting ()-=_+ in ruby on rails.

• File size in Python server

  We have server on Python and client + web service on Ruby. That works only if file from URL is less than 800 k. It seems like "socket.puts data" in a client works, but "output = socket.gets" - not. I think problem is in a Python part. For big files tests run "Connection reset by peer". Is it buffer size variable by default somewhere in a Python?
