  • How late it is to not migrate to .Net 3.5 from .Net 2.0 ?

    We have some applications that are being worked upon in .Net 2.0 since long back. I'm recommending my team to move the base from .net 2.0 to .net 3.5sp1 and focus and leverage from C# 3.0 but I'm facing difficulties in doing so. What are the implications of not migrating to .net 3.5 and C# 3.0 ? What are your experiences on this front and what tactics did you use to successfully migrate your team and projects to .net3.5.

  • Building VS2008 solution using MSBuild 2010?

    Is it possible to build a VS2008 solution (C# and VC++ projects) using the automated MSBuild built into TFS2010? When I niavely just run it, the build fails because the 2008 Solution file needs to be upgraded (and presumably so would the project files). Can I tell MSBuild 2010 to just build the 2008 files?

  • app.config files of referenced dlls

    I have a Web Project (VS 2008) that references a bunch of DLLs. The DLLs are built separately, so the project references binaries and not DLL projects. Some of the DLLs have their own app.config, which I want to be copied autmatically to the web project's output directory. Is there any suitable generic way to achieve this?

  • Where are global settings stored?

    Hi, sometimes after logging out and in again, my settings in Tools/Options/Projects and Solutions/VC++ Directories are lost. To investigate the problem I tried to find the file where Visual Studio (2008 Team) stores those settings on disk. (Or is it in the registry?) Can anybody point me to where it is? Thanks a lot!

    Unit files for standard VCL files like Dialogs, StringUtils etc is never referenced in a projects DPR-file. But when should I add a reference to the DPR-file ? Now I have own sourcefiles and source of own components. What about source files for Ravereport, Devexpress, Indy, Gnostice etc ? I want as fast codeinsight as possible, but of course I do not want to add bloat to the DPR-file. I use Delphi 2007 Regards

A few friends and I are thinking of starting a few projects for iPhone, web, Android, etc., and it would be nice to have a public (internet) code repository to use that would work well on any platform (Mac, PC, Linux).     im moving from a c# VS2008 world into the mac world and I just wanted to know how I can create a quick little command line based application so that I can write many little objective-c apps without worrying about creating an iPhone app or whatever. Which projects do I create in xcode? I can see the Command Line Tool under "Mac os x" but the only options for the type is "C", "C++", "Core Data", "Core Foundation", "Core Services" and "Foundation" but no simple objective c project? Like so: com.harbl.project.one com.harbl.project.two com.harbl.project.three I would like to export those as JARs in a batch such that I wind up with the following JAR files: ./com.harbl.project.one.jar ./com.harbl.project.two.jar ./com.harbl.project.three.jar Is this possible with one of the Eclipse wizards or working sets?     According to this python page, oursql looks very cool. oursql has real parameterization. oursql allows text or binary data to be streamed into the database and streamed out of the database, instead of requiring everything to be buffered in the client. oursql can both insert rows lazily and fetch rows lazily. oursql has unicode support on by default. So, Anyone start using it in the live projects and could share pros and cons over it?
