  • rs232 PTZ cameras software program for control

    - by Noel
Does anyone know of a program that would allow you to control multiple IR cameras via usb (computer jack) to rs232 (camera hardware)? We have a cameraswitcher, very low key, that I can press buttons and it willswitch the view of the camera from one to the next. currently I control the cameras by sellecting the cameras via a remote control for change of angles. Does anyone know anything that could give me some ability to do manual controls via my computer?. Please Advise, thanks!

  • Give the path to the inserted USB key to a script

    - by Xavier Nodet
I'd like to run a given Perl script whenever I connect my camera to my PC, so that this script will download all the photos on it. But as the drive letter for the camera may change depending on what's already connected, I need to pass this drive letter as an argument to the script. Is this doable? Thanks. PS: if this is not possible, an answer to this other question would be very helpful.

    - by Rahul Varma
Hi, I am trying to retrieve the values from the following url: http://rentopoly.com/ajax.php?query=Bo. I want to get the values of all the suggestions to be displayed in a list view one by one. This is how i want to do... public class AlertsAdd { public ArrayList<JSONObject> retrieveJSONArray(String urlString) { String result = queryRESTurl(urlString); ArrayList<JSONObject> ALERTS = new ArrayList<JSONObject>(); if (result != null) { try { JSONObject json = new JSONObject(result); JSONArray alertsArray = json.getJSONArray("suggestions"); for (int a = 0; a < alertsArray.length(); a++) { JSONObject alertitem = alertsArray.getJSONObject(a); ALERTS.add(alertitem); } return ALERTS; } catch (JSONException e) { Log.e("JSON", "There was an error parsing the JSON", e); } } JSONObject myObject = new JSONObject(); try { myObject.put("suggestions",myObject.getJSONArray("suggestions")); ALERTS.add(myObject); } catch (JSONException e1) { Log.e("JSON", "There was an error creating the JSONObject", e1); } return ALERTS; } private String queryRESTurl(String url) { // URLConnection connection; HttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpGet httpget = new HttpGet(url); HttpResponse response; try { response = httpclient.execute(httpget); HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); if (entity != null) { InputStream instream = entity.getContent(); String result = convertStreamToString(instream); instream.close(); return result; } } catch (ClientProtocolException e) { Log.e("REST", "There was a protocol based error", e); } catch (IOException e) { Log.e("REST", "There was an IO Stream related error", e); } return null; } /** * To convert the InputStream to String we use the * BufferedReader.readLine() method. • I get java.lang.NullPointerException when trying to get the contents of the database in Android

    - by ncountr
I am using 8 EditText boxes from the NewCard.xml from which i am taking the values and when the save button is pressed i am storing the values into a database, in the same process of saving i am trying to get the values and present them into 8 different TextView boxes on the main.xml file and when i press the button i get an FC from the emulator and the resulting error is java.lang.NullPointerException. If Some 1 could help me that would be great, since i have never used databases and this is my first application for android and this is the only thing keepeng me to complete the whole thing and publish it on the market like a free app. Here's the full code from NewCard.java. public class NewCard extends Activity { private static String[] FROM = { _ID, FIRST_NAME, LAST_NAME, POSITION, POSTAL_ADDRESS, PHONE_NUMBER, FAX_NUMBER, MAIL_ADDRESS, WEB_ADDRESS}; private static String ORDER_BY = FIRST_NAME; private CardsData cards; EditText First_Name; EditText Last_Name; EditText Position; EditText Postal_Address; EditText Phone_Number; EditText Fax_Number; EditText Mail_Address; EditText Web_Address; Button New_Cancel; Button New_Save; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.newcard); cards = new CardsData(this); //Define the Cancel Button in NewCard Activity New_Cancel = (Button) this.findViewById(R.id.new_cancel_button); //Define the Cancel Button Activity/s New_Cancel.setOnClickListener ( new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View arg0) { NewCancelDialog(); } } );//End of the Cancel Button Activity/s //Define the Save Button in NewCard Activity New_Save = (Button) this.findViewById(R.id.new_save_button); //Define the EditText Fields to Get Their Values Into the Database First_Name = (EditText) this.findViewById(R.id.new_first_name); Last_Name = (EditText) this.findViewById(R.id.new_last_name); Position = (EditText) this.findViewById(R.id.new_position); Postal_Address = (EditText) this.findViewById(R.id.new_postal_address); Phone_Number = (EditText) this.findViewById(R.id.new_phone_number); Fax_Number = (EditText) this.findViewById(R.id.new_fax_number); Mail_Address = (EditText) this.findViewById(R.id.new_mail_address); Web_Address = (EditText) this.findViewById(R.id.new_web_address); //Define the Save Button Activity/s New_Save.setOnClickListener ( new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View arg0) { //Add Code For Saving The Attributes Into The Database try { addCard(First_Name.getText().toString(), Last_Name.getText().toString(), Position.getText().toString(), Postal_Address.getText().toString(), Integer.parseInt(Phone_Number.getText().toString()), Integer.parseInt(Fax_Number.getText().toString()), Mail_Address.getText().toString(), Web_Address.getText().toString()); Cursor cursor = getCard(); showCard(cursor); } finally { cards.close(); NewCard.this.finish(); } } } );//End of the Save Button Activity/s } //======================================================================================// //DATABASE FUNCTIONS private void addCard(String firstname, String lastname, String position, String postaladdress, int phonenumber, int faxnumber, String mailaddress, String webaddress) { // Insert a new record into the Events data source. // You would do something similar for delete and update. • Using Flot's Bar Graph in an Android WebView with Highlighting

    - by Nicholi
The issue is unhighlighting bars which are no longer selected in a bar graph plotted by flot in a WebView on Android. Got no other issues drawing the actual graphs (which look beautiful for something so simple btw). I am not extremely knowledgeable in terms of javascript and web design/development but it seems little should have been needed, if it would just work!! :( I believe I'm following the Flot API correctly, if not someone please scream and yell at me. It seems to work just fine in a non-mobile browser at least. Hoping someone has done this before, but if not I've got the minimal necessary code to poke at your droids if inquiring minds would like to test. I've tested on two Nexus Ones (both 2.2.1), and have tried targeting with Andriod 1.5 and 2.2 SDKs (my intention is to target 1.5 if possible). I've been attempting to hack away at this for far too long on my own now. What happens: 1. Graph loads fine with bars. All bars unhighlighted. 2. Select a bar in graph, gets highlighted fine (and a tooltip is placed). 3. Select a different bar in graph, old bar is unhighlighted, old tooltip removed, new bar highlighted and tooltip placed (still no problems). 4. Click in the vast darkness of the graph which should then unhighlight the last bar... but it doesn't. I've tried disabling flot's autohighlight and manually doing it as well to no avail. Looking into flot itself and only getting down to drawOverlay() where the issue seems to begin... An even more disturbing bug(?) appears if the fill bar option is enabled in the graph, but I'd rather just forget about that for now. Also grabbed the latest version of flot from their svn (r290), but made no different from last public release (v0.6). As a complete guess I'm thinking it's an issue with WebKit's javascript implementation (or something specific to Nexus Ones, which wouldn't be so bad), but if there is any ugly hack to just get it to work I'm all ears. I've thrown the graph data directly into the html/js, rather than deal with showing all the code involved in the Java-javascript handler and callbacks. The simple html placed in 'assets/flot/test/' with jquery.js and jquery.flot.js: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> <script src="jquery.js"></script> <script src="jquery.flot.js"></script> <script id="source" language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> var lastItem = null; var plot = null; $(document).ready(function () { //window.testhandler.loadGraph(); // bind plotclick here $("#graphHolder").bind("plotclick", function (event, pos, item) { if (item) { var lastPoint = null; if (lastItem != null) lastPoint = lastItem.datapoint; if (!pointEquals(lastPoint, item.datapoint)) { //if (lastItem != null) // plot.unhighlight(lastItem.series, lastItem.datapoint); lastItem = item; $("#tooltip").remove(); //plot.highlight(item.series, item.datapoint); showTooltip(item.pageX, item.pageY, item.datapoint[1]); } } else if (lastItem != null) { plot.unhighlight(lastItem.series, lastItem.datapoint); // not unhighlighting anything //plot.unhighlight(); // doesn't work either, supposed to unhighlight everything lastItem = null; $("#tooltip").remove(); } }); GotGraph(); }); /** * Show a tooltip above bar in graph * @param {int} x Left coordinate of div * @param {int} y Top coordinate of div * @param {String} contents text to place in div */ function showTooltip(x, y, contents) { $('<div id="tooltip">' + contents + '</div>').css( { position: 'absolute', display: 'none', top: y, left: x, border: '1px solid #fdd', padding: '2px', 'background-color': '#fee', opacity: 0.80 }).appendTo("body").fadeIn(200); } /** * Draw the graph. • Trying to get around this Webservice call from Android using AsycTask

    - by Kevin Rave
I am a fairly beginner in Android Development. I am developing an application that extensively relays on Webservice calls. First screen takes username and password and validates the user by calling the Webservice. If U/P is valid, then I need to fire up the 2nd activity. In that 2nd activity, I need to do 3 calls. But I haven't gotten to the 2nd part yet. In fact, I haven't completed the full coding yet. But I wanted to test if the app is working as far as I've come through. When calling webserivce, I am showing alert dialog. But the app is crashing somewhere. The LoginActivity shows up. When I enter U/P and press Login Button, it crashes. My classes: TaskHandler.java public class TaskHandler { private String URL; private User userObj; private String results; private JSONDownloaderTask task; ; public TaskHandler( String url, User user) { this.URL = url; • Problem to match font size to the screen resolution in libgdx

    - by Iñaki Bedoya
I'm having problems to show text on my game at same size on different screens, and I did a simple test. This test consists to show a text fitting at the screen, I want the text has the same size independently from the screen and from DPI. I've found this and this answer that I think should solve my problem but don't. In desktop the size is ok, but in my phone is too big. This is the result on my Nexus 4: (768x1280, 2.0 density) And this is the result on my MacBook: (480x800, 0.6875 density) I'm using the Open Sans Condensed (link to google fonts) As you can see on desktop looks good, but on the phone is so big. Here the code of my test: public class TextTest extends ApplicationAdapter { private static final String TAG = TextTest.class.getName(); private static final String TEXT = "Tap the screen to start"; private OrthographicCamera camera; private Viewport viewport; private SpriteBatch batch; private BitmapFont font; @Override public void create () { Gdx.app.log(TAG, "Screen size: "+Gdx.graphics.getWidth()+"x"+Gdx.graphics.getHeight()); Gdx.app.log(TAG, "Density: "+Gdx.graphics.getDensity()); camera = new OrthographicCamera(); viewport = new ExtendViewport(Gdx.graphics.getWidth(), Gdx.graphics.getWidth(), camera); batch = new SpriteBatch(); FreeTypeFontGenerator generator = new FreeTypeFontGenerator(Gdx.files.internal("fonts/OpenSans-CondLight.ttf")); font = createFont(generator, 64); generator.dispose(); } private BitmapFont createFont(FreeTypeFontGenerator generator, float dp) { FreeTypeFontGenerator.FreeTypeFontParameter parameter = new FreeTypeFontGenerator.FreeTypeFontParameter(); int fontSize = (int)(dp * Gdx.graphics.getDensity()); parameter.size = fontSize; Gdx.app.log(TAG, "Font size: "+fontSize+"px"); return generator.generateFont(parameter); } @Override public void render () { Gdx.gl.glClearColor(1, 1, 1, 1); Gdx.gl.glClear(GL20.GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT); int w = -(int)(font.getBounds(TEXT).width / 2); batch.setProjectionMatrix(camera.combined); batch.begin(); font.setColor(Color.BLACK); font.draw(batch, TEXT, w, 0); batch.end(); } @Override public void resize(int width, int height) { viewport.update(width, height); } @Override public void dispose() { font.dispose(); batch.dispose(); } } I'm trying to find a neat way to fix this. What I'm doing wrong? is the camera? the viewport? UPDATE: What I want is to keep the same margins in proportion, independently of the screen size or resolution. This image illustrates what I mean.

  • Euler angles to Cartesian Coordinates for use with gluLookAt

    - by notrodash
I have searched all of the internet but just couldn't find the answer. I am using LibGDX and this is part of my code that loops over and over: public void render() { GL11 gl = Gdx.gl11; float centerX = (float)Math.cos(yaw) * (float)Math.cos(pitch); float centerY = (float)Math.sin(yaw) * (float)Math.cos(pitch); float centerZ = (float)Math.sin(pitch); System.out.println(centerX+" "+centerY+" "+centerZ+" ~ "+GDXRacing.camera.position.x+" "+GDXRacing.camera.position.y+" "+GDXRacing.camera.position.z); Gdx.glu.gluLookAt(gl, GDXRacing.camera.position.x, GDXRacing.camera.position.y, GDXRacing.camera.position.z, centerX, centerY, centerZ, 0, 1, 0); if(Gdx.input.isKeyPressed(Keys.A)) { yaw--; } if(Gdx.input.isKeyPressed(Keys.D)) { yaw++; } } I might just be bad at the math, but I dont get it. Does someone have a good explanation and an idea about how to deal with this? I am trying to make a first person camera. By the way, the camera is translated by +10 on the Z axis. Currently when I run the application, this is what I get: Watch video in browser | Download video (for those who cant download the video, everything shakes in a clockwise/anticlockwise action, depending on if I increase or decrease the Yaw value) -Thank you. [edit] and with this code: public void render() { GL11 gl = Gdx.gl11; float centerX = (float)(MathUtils.cosDeg(yaw)*4); float centerY = 0; float centerZ = (float)(MathUtils.sinDeg(yaw)*4); System.out.println(centerX+" "+centerY+" "+centerZ+" ~ "+GDXRacing.camera.position.x+" "+GDXRacing.camera.position.y+" "+GDXRacing.camera.position.z); Gdx.glu.gluLookAt(gl, GDXRacing.camera.position.x, GDXRacing.camera.position.y, GDXRacing.camera.position.z, centerX, centerY, centerZ, 0, 1, 0); if(Gdx.input.isKeyPressed(Keys.A)) { yaw--; } if(Gdx.input.isKeyPressed(Keys.D)) { yaw++; } } it slowly swings from the left to the right. This approach worked for turning left and right for 2d games though. What am I doing wrong?

  • How to associate newly created SurfaceHolder to MediaPlayer

    - by fayerth
    In my code, I want to be able to temporarily hide (and subsequently show) a video. I am using a SurfaceView + MediaPlayer combination instead of the VideoView due to requirements. However, I am facing difficulties in getting video playback to occur as expected after I show the SurfaceView. My code excerpts includes the following: public void show() { if (mSurface != null) mSurface.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); } public void hide() { if (mSurface != null) { if (isInPlaybackState()) pause(); mSurface.setVisibility(View.INVISIBLE); } } @Override public void surfaceCreated(final SurfaceHolder holder) { mHolder = holder; openVideo(); } @Override public void surfaceDestroyed(final SurfaceHolder holder) { // After this, the surface can't be used again mHolder = null; } private void openVideo() { if (mAssetPath == null || !mAssetPath.isEmpty() || mHolder == null) { // Not ready yet; try again later return; } // Pause music playback service Intent i = new Intent("com.android.music.musicservicecommand"); i.putExtra("command", "pause"); getActivity().sendBroadcast(i); if (mPlayer == null) { initializePlayer(); } else { mPlayer.setDisplay(mHolder); } } Based on the above, when I call hide(), surfaceDestroyed(SurfaceHolder) gets triggered. When I later call show(), surfaceCreated(SurfaceHolder) gets triggered, which will call openVideo() and associate the player with the newly provided SurfaceHolder. The above works as expected, and I believe this should be the correct process; however, when I call mPlayer.start(), I would hear the video's audio playing without any video and see the following error messages (which eventually causes the media playback to stop and complete, as noted by the disconnect logs): 10-23 11:29:42.775: E/MediaPlayer(4204): Error (1,-2147483648) 10-23 11:29:42.795: E/MediaPlayer(4204): Error (-38,0) 10-23 11:29:42.805: E/MediaPlayer(4204): Error (1,-2147483648) 10-23 11:29:42.810: V/MediaPlayer(4204): message received msg=100, ext1=1, ext2=-2147483648 10-23 11:29:42.810: E/MediaPlayer(4204): error (1, -2147483648) 10-23 11:29:42.810: V/MediaPlayer(4204): callback application 10-23 11:29:42.810: V/MediaPlayer(4204): back from callback 10-23 11:29:42.825: E/MediaPlayer(4204): Error (1,-2147483648) 10-23 11:29:42.850: V/MediaPlayer-JNI(4204): getCurrentPosition: 671668 (msec) 10-23 11:29:42.850: V/MediaPlayer-JNI(4204): getCurrentPosition: 671668 (msec) 10-23 11:29:42.850: V/MediaPlayer(4204): message received msg=100, ext1=1, ext2=-2147483648 10-23 11:29:42.850: E/MediaPlayer(4204): error (1, -2147483648) 10-23 11:29:42.850: V/MediaPlayer(4204): callback application 10-23 11:29:42.850: V/MediaPlayer(4204): back from callback 10-23 11:29:42.875: V/MediaPlayer-JNI(4204): stop 10-23 11:29:42.875: V/MediaPlayer(4204): stop 10-23 11:29:42.875: E/MediaPlayer(4204): stop called in state 0 10-23 11:29:42.875: V/MediaPlayer(4204): message received msg=100, ext1=-38, ext2=0 10-23 11:29:42.875: E/MediaPlayer(4204): error (-38, 0) 10-23 11:29:42.875: V/MediaPlayer(4204): callback application 10-23 11:29:42.875: V/MediaPlayer(4204): back from callback 10-23 11:29:42.875: V/MediaPlayer-JNI(4204): reset 10-23 11:29:42.875: V/MediaPlayer(4204): reset 10-23 11:29:42.900: V/MediaPlayer-JNI(4204): release 10-23 11:29:42.900: V/MediaPlayer(4204): setListener 10-23 11:29:42.900: V/MediaPlayer(4204): disconnect 10-23 11:29:42.910: V/MediaPlayer(4204): destructor 10-23 11:29:42.910: V/MediaPlayer(4204): disconnect Has anyone encountered this issue before and found a workaround?   • Draw Circle on the Map once the application gets loaded

    - by TechGeeky
    Background:- In my application what is happening currently- Whenever I am opening the application, In the top half of the android screen, it draws a Map and in the bottom half of the android screen it show's a list view. And then as soon as the location gets changed, it draw's a Circle with the current location as the center of the circle and show's an image at the current location(center of circle). Everything is working fine till here- Problem Statement:- What I want is when the user opens my application, circle should get draw immediately on the Google Map (this is currently not happening, it draw's circle only on the location changed), without waiting for the location to get changed and without any image on the center of circle and then if the location get's changed, take the current location as the center of circle and draw the circle with an image at the center of circle. And this is my below code which fulfills the scenario that I mentioned in my Background- How can I make this code to work the way I wanted to? hope I am clear enough in my question. Any suggestions will be appreciated. @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_main); mapView = (MapView) findViewById(R.id.mapView); listView = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.mylist); locationManager = (LocationManager) getSystemService(Context.LOCATION_SERVICE); locationListener = new GPSLocationListener(mapView); locationManager.requestLocationUpdates( LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER, 35000, 10, locationListener); mapView.setStreetView(true); mapView.setBuiltInZoomControls(true); mapController = mapView.getController(); mapController.setZoom(14); } Location Update class where I am sending the request to Overlay to draw the circle private class GPSLocationListener implements LocationListener { MapOverlay mapOverlay; public GPSLocationListener(MapView mapView) { } @Override public void onLocationChanged(Location location) { if (location != null) { GeoPoint point = new GeoPoint( (int) (location.getLatitude() * 1E6), (int) (location.getLongitude() * 1E6)); mapController.animateTo(point); mapController.setZoom(15); if (mapOverlay == null) { mapOverlay = new MapOverlay(this,android.R.drawable.star_on); List<Overlay> listOfOverlays = mapView.getOverlays(); listOfOverlays.add(mapOverlay); } mapOverlay.setPointToDraw(point); mapView.invalidate(); } } @Override public void onProviderDisabled(String provider) { } @Override public void onProviderEnabled(String provider) { } @Override public void onStatusChanged(String provider, int status, Bundle extras) { } } Class in which circle is getting drawn. class MapOverlay extends Overlay { private GeoPoint pointToDraw; int[] imageNames=new int[6]; private Point mScreenPoints; private Bitmap mBitmap; private Paint mCirclePaint; public MapOverlay(GPSLocationListener gpsLocationListener, int currentUser) { imageNames[0]=currentUser; mCirclePaint = new Paint(Paint.ANTI_ALIAS_FLAG); mCirclePaint.setColor(0x30000000); mCirclePaint.setStyle(Style.FILL_AND_STROKE); mBitmap = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(),imageNames[0]); mScreenPoints = new Point(); } public void setPointToDraw(GeoPoint point) { pointToDraw = point; } public GeoPoint getPointToDraw() { return pointToDraw; } @Override public boolean draw(Canvas canvas, MapView mapView, boolean shadow, long when) { super.draw(canvas, mapView, shadow); if (pointToDraw == null) { return true; } mScreenPoints = mapView.getProjection().toPixels(pointToDraw, mScreenPoints); int totalCircle=5; int radius=40; int centerimagesize=35; for (int i = 1; i <= totalCircle; i ++) { canvas.drawCircle(mScreenPoints.x,mScreenPoints.y, i*radius, mCirclePaint); } canvas.drawBitmap(mBitmap, (mScreenPoints.x-(centerimagesize/2)),(mScreenPoints.y-(centerimagesize/2)), null); super.draw(canvas,mapView,shadow); return true; } }

  • Android: How to obtain Mac Address of WiFi Network Interface?

    - by Gubatron
It seems the java.net.NetworkInterface implementation of android does not have a byte[] getHardwareAddress() method http://developer.android.com/reference/java/net/NetworkInterface.html I've found several forums of people trying to do this with no definitive answer, I need to get a somewhat cross-device UUID, so I can't rely on phone numbers or in ANDROID_ID (which can be overwritten and which I think depends on the user having a google account) http://developer.android.com/reference/android/provider/Settings.Secure.html#ANDROID_ID In linux you can use ifconfig or read from /proc/net/arp and you can easily get the Hardware address. Is there a file in android that I can read? There has to be a way to get this address since it's shown in the "Settings About Phone Status" of the phone.

  • How to delete SMS from inbox in android programmatically?

    - by dmyung
Just thought I'd ping this community to see if there's any knowledge on this issue. On android phones SMS messages registered to applications also get sent to the device's inbox. However to prevent clutter, it'd be nice to be able to remove app specific SMS mesg's from the inbox to reduce the potential overflow of those messages. Questions on other google groups on getting a definitive answer on a programmatic way to delete SMS messages from the android inbox don't seem to be pressing. So the scenario: Android App startup. register SMS message types X,Y and Z messages P,Q,X,Y,Z stream in over the course of time, all deposited in inbox Android app detects receipt of X,Y,Z (presumably as part of the program interrupt event) process X,Y,Z Desirement!!! X,Y,Z are deleted from android inbox Has it been done? Can it be done?

  • How to set Android Google Maps API v2 map to show whole world map?

    - by Joao
I am developing an android application that uses a google map in the background. When I start the application, I want to display a map of the hole word. According to the android google maps API v2: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/android/views the way to set a specific zoom value is "CameraUpdateFactory.zoomTo(float)" and the same api https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/android/reference/com/google/android/gms/maps/CameraUpdateFactory#zoomTo(float) tells that the minimum argument to this function is 2. but when I call the function: mMap.moveCamera(CameraUpdateFactory.zoomTo(2)); The viewport of the world map is just a little bigger than Australia... How can I display the entire world map at once? Thanks in advance, João

  • What kind of icon should I deploy with my Android 1.x and 2.x application?

    - by licorna
The thing is this, in Android 1.5 and 1.6 we had the Icon Design Guidelines. In this guide there are specifications for application icons. Every application should conform to this. However, in recent Android versions (2.0 and 2.1) icons have changed from the old to this new flat 2D style. Every icon in Nexus One has this style, so not even Google is conforming to the guideline. To see the differences between high and low density icons see this image and compare Evernote icon with the rest. I've been able to use different icons by using two directories with different icons: drawables-hdpi/icon.png and drawables/icon.png, BUT not every Android 2.x is going to be HDPI and not every 1.x Android device is going to be low pixel density. So the question is: Should I deploy different icons for different Android platform version within my apk file? and if I should, How do I do it?

  • Monitor is flashing through camera but not in the naked eye

    - by odyodyodys
Two monitors: Samsung T23C350 - Samsung 2243NW Lets call the first A and the other B. A is a LED monitor with a 2ms response time (in specs) with a native resolution of 1920*1080@60Hz B is an older not-led one with 5ms response in specs with a resolution of 1680*1050@60Hz In the attached images and video you'll see that A (on the LEFT) is flickering but this is not visible to the naked eye. I took some pictures and videos with a camera and a mobile phone. This is also happening to all digital camcorders I've tested. A has a setting response time with values normal, fast, fastest. No matter the setting, the effect is the same. A on the left and B on the right. You can see the flickering, although both are @60Hz A video where you can see both monitors. A is always the left monitor. Another video where you can see what my digital camera sees. Another thing is that I managed to get a picture where the left monitor is completely black whilst the right one is displaying fine. This proves that the monitor is continuously flashing. My question is: Is this normal behavior and what is causing it? Am I affected by this fast flickering? I am using this as my primary monitor and as a programmer I have to keep my eyes on it for hours.

  • How to lock the Screen customly? Just like WaveSecure in Android

    - by HackNone
I want to do a demo just like WaveSecure, which win Android Develop Challenge 2 with a third place. Now I have a problem in locking the screen customly, so I want to know how WaveSecure achieve its locking function, as the following picture show: http://goo.gl/XlPP When the mobile is locked, WaveSecure can require customer to input their own password. So I think WaveSecure must replace Android's original locking function. And I also google it, but I didn't find anything helpful. I only find two packages may be helpful. They are: android.app.KeyguardManager android.os.PowerManager But after I reading the Android Docs, I still can't have an idea on it. Can you help me? Thx:)

  • google spreadsheet api from android: google-api-java-client or handmade?

    - by yetanothercoderu
For working with google spreadsheet api from android (2.2) - google suggests using google-api-java-client for android. For that you have to include 5 jars to your android application: guava-r09.jar google-http-client-extensions-android2-1.6.0-beta.jar google-api-client-extensions-android2-1.6.0-beta.jar google-http-client-1.6.0-beta.jar google-api-client-1.6.0-beta.jar and digging into google-api-java-client javadocs for fast-changing api. Does it worth the effort? in term of android specifics and device fragmentation? Isn't it reasonable to write your own simple http response parser or take small existing library like google-spreadsheet-lib-android ? Thanks! UPD: choosed google-api-java-client finally as it has all routine stuff (like parsing http, xml) out of box

  • Android: How to fade out search / home / menu / back buttons?

    - by user548472
Hallo, I'm using my Android (Archos 43) only as an extended display in an industrial application. I just need a single programm to display data received and send user inputs by bluetooth. This little programm should start directly after booting and should disable (fade out) the android-buttons (search, home, menu and back). That's my plan. Here's my problem: I know, there are some applications which can fade out these search/home/menu/back-buttons (like DeskClock or some videoplayers). But how does it work? Just using android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Light.NoTitleBar.Fullscreen" only disables the titlebar, not the 4 android-buttons. Thanks, Dennis

  • Anyone know how you can get a Google dev phone to make Android apps?

    - by Bobafett
Hi there, I am thinking about converting my web apps into Android apps to reach the Android market. I do not have an Android phone. Can someone tell me how I can possibly get a Google developer phone (other than going to Google I/O, etc)?
