  • I need a program to store the database script for oracle

    We are developing a project that has 3 enviroments (development, test, production) So there are 3 databases (actually more than 3, because we have 5 customers so we have more than 10 databases) and they must be synchronised. There are 30 coders working for this project. Everone adds, deletes, and changes procedures, table columns etc. We need a program to store our database scripts like visual studio's team foundation server. See the change history of script file. Everyone must access that program and be able to put their scripts. Recover previous versions of script file. Execute these scripts over a selected database. Compare databases by procedures (not only by name, by content of procedure), functions, table columns, packages etc. I am searching a program like that. Which one do you suggest me?

I tried checking the event log for errors, but found nothing. Or more precisely, I did find local an activation permission error, but this was fixed once I added local launch/activation permission for Network Service to the Machine Debug Manager via the component services tool. I assume that this is the reason for the latter error that I don't have a database configuration.     i was wondering if anyone knows how yelp determines what restaurants are "open now"? i'm developing a similar application using html/javascript/php. i was going to have a column in my database for each day, with comma separated hours written in "2243" format (10:43 pm). so for example if a restaurant is open for lunch and dinner it might be "1100,1400,1700,2200". then i'd check (using js) if the current time falls in one of the ranges for the current day. i'd also like to be able to determine if a restaurant is "open tonight", "open late", etc. for those i guess i'd check whether the open range overlaps with certain ranges. is there a better way to do this? particularly, how to store the hours in the database and then determine if they overlap with a given set of hours. thanks.

  • Carrierwave upload to a tmp dir before saving to database

    I'm trying to build a visual editor where users can click an image they are presented with an image upload form once the upload is done I use ajax to return the image and insert it back into the page. But the above method inserts the image straight into the database but I want users to be able to visualize the image before the image is inserted into the database. So I was wondering if the image using carrierwave could be uploaded to a temp location, sent back to the user and then when the user saves the page the image is moved into the permanent location. Here's what I have so far. def edit_image @page = Page.find(1) @page.update_attributes(params[:page]) @page.save return :text => @page.file end But this is what I want to achieve def temp_image #uploads received image to a temp location #returns image to the user end And once the user clicks save def save #moves the file in the temp folder to the permanent location end Cheers

    I have a database table. There is a field name "Sequence" that indicate sequence when user presents the rows in report or grid visually. When the rows are retrieved and presented in a grid, there are few UI gadget that allow user to reorder the rows arbitrary. The new sequence will be persist in database table when user commit the changes. Here are some UI operations: Move to first Move to last Move up 1 row Move down 1 row multi-select rows and move up or down multi-select rows and drag to new position For operation like "Move to first" or "Move to Last", it usually involve many rows and the sequence those rows would need to be updated accordingly. This may not be efficient enough at runtime. It is a common practice to use INTEGER as sequence's data type. Other solution is using "DOUBLE" or "FLOAT" that could overcome the mass update of row sequence but we will face problem if we reach the limit of precision.

    How can I insert arabic characters into sql database? I tried to insert arabic data into a table and the arabic characters in the insert script were inserted as '??????' in the table. I tried to directly paste the data into the table through sql management studio and the arabic characters was successfully and accurately inserted. I looked around for resolutions for this problems and some threads suggested changing the datatype to nvarchar instead of varchar. I tried this as well but without any luck.     Let's suppose I have the following line in a CSV file (I removed the header row in this example): "500,000",2,50,2,90000 I have a PHP script read the CSV file, break the file into individual lines, and store each line in an array called $linearray. Then, I use a foreach loop to look at each line individually. Within the foreach loop, I break the line into separate variables using the following function: $line = str_replace("'","\'",$line); From here, I insert the values into separate columns within a MySQL database. The script works. The values are inserted into a database, but I run into a problem. I want: "500,000" | 2 | 50 | 2 | 90000 But I get this: "500 | 000" | 2 | 50 | 2 | 90000 The script isn't smart enough to understand it should skip commas within quotation marks. Do you know how I can alter my script to make sure I get the output I'm looking for? Thanks.

    If you have to retrieve data from a database and bring this dataset to the client, and then allow the user to manipulate the data in various ways before updating the database again, what is a good class design for this if the data tables will not have a 1:1 relationship with the class objects? Here are some I came up with: Just manipulate the DataSet itself on the client and then send it back to the database as is. This will work though obviously the code will be very dirty and not well-structured. Same as #1, but wrap the dataset code around classes. What I mean is that you may have a class that takes a dataset or a datatable in its constructor, and then provides public methods and properties to simplify the code. Inside these methods and properties it will be reading or manipulating the dataset. To update the database afterwards will be easy because you already have the updated dataset. Get rid of the dataset entirely on the client, convert to objects, then convert back to a dataset when needing to update the database. Is there any good resources where I can find information on this?

    Hello again guys, and thank you for your help so far. Here is my problem: I have two remote dedicated servers, one webserver that runs apache, and one db server that runs mysql. The apache server is visible on the internet of course, but the second server is only visible to the apache server because they are connected with LAN. I need to connect to the remote mysql server through internet from my home-pc , but only apache server is visible to my home-pc. How can i setup port-forwarding from my apache server to the mysql server so i will be able to "see" the mysql server from my home-pc? This question is a follow-up from my first question Connect to remote mysql server from my application. Problem is that Mysql server is on LAN in which you answered me and helped me a lot by telling me to do "port-forwarding". I looked over the internet, and i cant find a good how-to to do port-forwarding. I'm an experienced programmer, but have little experience on hardware and networks. I can understand though what must be done, so i just need a litle help to sort things out :) I hope you can help me guys, Thank you in advance p.s. machine that Apache is running is on CentOS, mysql server also CentOS. p.s2 webserver runs WebHostManager i dont know if that makes any difference or it can be made easily through this, i just mention it :)

  • Is this a valid backup strategy for MongoDB?

    I've got a single dedicated server with a MongoDB database of around 10GB. I need to do daily backups, but I can't have downtime with the database. Is it possible to use a replica set on a single disk (with 2 instances of mongod running on different ports), and simply take the secondary one offline and backup the data files to an offsite storage such as S3 (journaling is turned on)? Or would using master/slave be better than a replica set? Is this viable, and if so, what potential problems could I have? If not, how do I conceptualize this to work?

    Hi, i googled for an hour now but maybe my Google-Fu is just too weak, i couldn't find a solution. I want to create an application that queries a service via JSON requests (all data and backend/business logic is stored in the service). With plain PHP it's simple enough since i just make a curl request, json_decode the result and get what i need. This already works quite well. A request might look like this: Call http://service-host/userlist with body: {"logintoken": "123456-1234-5678-901234"} Get Result: { "status": "Ok", "userlist":[ {"name": "foo", "id": 1}, {"name": "bar", "id": 2} ] } Now we want to get that into the Zend Framework since it's a hobby project and we want to learn about Zend. The problem is that all information i could find use a Database. Is there even a way to create a Zend Project that does not use a Database? And how can i write a model that represents the actions instead of objects and object-relations?
