    Hi, I'm trying to set up my developing environment using Visual Studio 2008 to develop for the UNO-1019. I managed to connect the UNO to VS for deployment and debug using the ethernet connection. I installed the SDK for EVC++ available on the products page and I was wondering if I can use that sdk on visual studio 2008.I'm rather new with this and I's kind of lost. Thanks in advance

    Visual Studio 2010 has no longer uses .vsprops files and instead uses .props files. To include a .vsprops file in a Visual Studio 2008 project, one could right-click the project icon in the Solution Explorer panel, choose Properties, go to the Configuration Properties | General section, and modify the Inherited Project Property Sheets property to contain a list of .vsprops paths. One could also modify the Visual Studio 2008 project file directly. Is there a way in the Visual Studio 2010 GUI to include .props files to a project? The Inherited Project Property Sheets property seems to have been removed. If manual editing of the project file is the only way to include .props files, where can one find documentation on doing it? I'm not talking about adding a .props file to the list of files in the project, I mean how do I tell the project to use a .props file.

    When I double click on an mdf file on Visual Web Developer 2008 (NerdDinner.mdf) it says: Connections to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL Server Express 2005 to function properly. Please verify the installation of the component or download from the URL: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=49251 The URL of course points to SQL Server Express 2008. I have that one installed and running. Any ideas why am I getting that message?

    I've read several articles that tell you how to add text to the output window in visual studio from within an Add-On (specifically, a visual studio 2008 integration package, via the visual studio 2008 SDK 1.1), but no examples of how to read text from the output window. My goal is to parse text from the debug output window while debugging a certain application (TRACE output and possibly stdin/stdout). The IVsOutputWindowPane interface has no methods for reading in text from the output window. The documentation seems to imply that it is possible, but it doesn't provide an example: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb166236(VS.80).aspx Quote: In addition, the OutputWindow and OutputWindowPane objects add some higher-level functionality to make it easier to enumerate the Output window panes and to retrieve text from the panes.     I find it odd that in Visual C# 2008 Express edition, when you use the database explorer, your options are: 1) Microsoft Access 2) SQL Server Compact 3.5, and 3) SQL Server Database File. BUT if you use Visual Web Developer 2008 Express, you can connect to a regular SQL Server, Oracle, ODBC, etc. For people developing command-line or other C# apps that need to talk to a SQL Server database, do you really need to build your LINQ/Data Access code with one IDE (Visual Web Developer) and your program in another (Visual C#)? It's not a hard workaround, but it seems weird. If Microsoft wanted to force you to upgrade to Visual Studio to connect to SQL Server, why would they include that feature in one of their free IDEs but not the other? I feel like I might be missing something (like how to do it all in Visual C#). Thanks! Tom

    For some reason my Visual Studio 2008 began to show warnings for code like: "int main( int argc, char **argv)", which is really annoying. The detailed warning ouputs are (you can ignore the line numbers): 1.\main.cpp(86) : warning C4100: 'argv' : unreferenced formal parameter 1.\main.cpp(86) : warning C4100: 'argc' : unreferenced formal parameter I wonder if there are settings in Visual Studio 2008 that have been accidentally changed. Or how should I deal with this warning? Thank you all.

  • Installing a new SQL Server instance fails

    I've previously in my setup installed SQL Server Express 2005. Now I've switched to SQL Server Express 2008. I updated the command line parameters to those documented for the latter. If the comp already has SQL Server Express 2008 installed, my installer should create a new instance. The command line parameters are as follows: /ACTION=Install /FEATURES=SQLEngine /QS /INSTANCENAME=ABCD /SECURITYMODE=SQL /SAPWD=CunningPassword The requested instance name does not exist on the target machine. This will end in an error -2068643838. The logs show the following error: "No features were installed during the setup execution. The requested features may already be installed." If I remove the /QS parameter and try to install interactively, I'll get as far as the Feature Selection page. The UI shows three options, Instance Features, Shared Features and Redistributable Features. Whatever I select, clicking Next results in the same error (There are validation errors on this page).     Hello Everyone, I developed an application using VS 2008 and MS Access2007 and it works fine. Now have to make a setup of it(this is my first project). I gone through many tutorials about deployment, I tried VS 2008 setup and deployment, but after installation it only runs in my machine and not in others..sometimes it shows error(The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine(that machine had both VS2008 and MS Access installed)). I been a week since, i tried what i can and still trying, cant believe that i am strucked here, nothing seems to work. Please help...     Hello everyone, I am using SQL Server 2008 (let us call this source database server in this question discussion), and in SSMS, I have created a linked server to another SQL Server 2008 database (let us call this destination database server in this question discussion). When I issue statement -- select * from [linked server name].[database name].[dbo].[table name], error will be returned, Linked server "ZS" The OLE DB access interface "SQLNCLI10" returned "NON-CLUSTERED and NOT INTEGRATED "Index" ix_foo_basic_info_nf ", which is incorrect bookmark ordinal 0. When I issue statement -- select * from openquery([linked server name],'select * from [table name]'), there will be no errors, any ideas what is wrong? thanks in advance, George

  • sql db problem with windows authentication

    Have a SQL Server 2008 db which I connect to the Windows Authentication .. has worked good for 7-8 months .. but now when I come to work today it no longer worked to connect, without that I had done something Error message was: Can not open user default database. Login failed. Login failed for user 'Jimmy-PC \ Jimmy'. where the first is the computer name and the second is the user. The problem seems to be that it tries to connect to the default database. Have tried to change it without success .. I do not have sql server management tools for sql 2008 but only to 2005, someone who has similar experience? who have not touched anything said over the weekend and it worked last Friday without any problems.

  • How can I best geocode a table of addresses in SQL Server?

    I've got a SQL Server 2008 table with addresses. I've got some C# code that can individually geocode the addresses. I've got a Google Maps API for geocoding. Now I'm trying to figure out the most efficient way to use these resources. I could write a console app that manually updates the tables using my C# library, but the data I have is updated periodically. I will be performing an import routine of some sort and I'm thinking it would be 'simplest' to perform the geocoding as the import occurs. I'm not so strong on SQL Server capabilities, so I'm looking for advice. I've considered letting the import call an assembly I create that would be referenced in SQL Server, but read that Sql Server 2008 has made it virtually impossible to reference your own DLL. So my next guess is having the import call a web service to pass in the address and update the table with the results, but I've not had much luck in finding info on this method. Any advice?

  • Tables are not visible in SQL Server Management Studio but they are in Visual Studio using same acco

    I'm experiencing a weird problem with a particular SQL login. When I connect to the server in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (2008) using this account, I cannot see any of the tables, stored procedures etc. that this account should have access to. When I connect to the same server within Visual Studio (2008) with the same account everything is there. I've also had a co-worker connect to the server using the same login and he's able to view everything as well. The strange thing is if I switch logins, I'm able to view objects that the other account has access to which indicates that there isn't a problem with MSSMS on my PC. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can diagnose this problem? I've check to make sure I don't have any Table filters etc.

  • Firewall will not play ball

    I'm running SQL Server 2008 Express on a windows 2012... or at least I'm trying to :) My problem is that I have opened the ports I thought I needed but still I cant manage to connect to the database from Visual Studio. As proof I have a screenshot of my firewall settings: Everything works fine if I turn the firewall off, but who wants that while connected to the internet? So I wonder what the heck is wrong?     Okay, I'll admit being a designer, I don't know much about how data is handled from the servers in forms... (basically the whole programming part). Basically I have a text field that the user types something like "apple", this gets sent to the server and then displays the apple.html page that I have in a directory in an IFrame. If anyone can show me how to do this in a PHP script or Perl, would be great thanks! I think this is good start, it gets more complicated than this... I later have to convert the "apple" into something like 2321 and display 2321.html instead. If anyone can find a CGI script that does this, thanks!

  • Best way to auto-restore db on an houlry basis

    Hello, I have a demo site where anyone can login and test a management interface. Every hour I would like to flush all the data in the SQL 2008 Database and restore it from the original. Rae Gate sql has some awesome tools for this, however they are beyond my budget right now. Could I simply make a backup copy of the database's data file, then have a c# console app that deletes it and copies over the original. Then I can have a windows schedule task to run the .exe every hour. It's simple and free... would this work? I'm using SQL Server 2008 R2 Web edition I understand that red gate is technically better because I can set it to analyze the db and only update the records that were altered, and the approach I have above is like a "sledge hammer".
