• How to use jaxp 3 with jdk 1.6?

  I'm trying to migrate application from jdk 1.5 to jdk 1.6 without introducing any changes visible to the end user. Application's output is an xml generated using jaxp which is a part of the jdk libraries. Since jaxp versions are different in jdk 1.5 and 1.6, the resulting xml looks different in each version. An example: DatatypeFatory.newInstance().newDuration(60) produces 'PT2H17M0.000S' in jdk 1.5 and 'P0Y0M0DT2H17M0.000S' in jdk 1.6. Both are correct, but i want to avoid any visible changes. Classes like DatatypeFactory have a mechanism which allows specifying which implementation should be used, but it relies on specifying full qualified class name. So theoretically i could download jaxp jars with the same version which is used in jdk 1.5 and let the application use them. Unfortunately the package and class names are the same in both versions, so i would have to somehow tell java to load classes from jar and not jdk. I was trying to put jaxp jars at the beginning of the classpath, but it didn't help. Is it possible to tell java to load classes from external jar and not jdk libraries? Can i solve this problem in any other way? Thanks in advance

Having followed all of the instructions from Android, my java file will not recognize the "MapActivity" or the import statements to include the needed api. • Write binary data as a response in an ASP.NET MVC web control

  I am trying to get a control that I wrote for ASP.NET to work in an ASP.NET MVC environment. Normally, the control does the normal thing, and that works fine Sometimes it needs to respond by clearing the response, writing an image to the response stream and changing the content type. When you do this, you get an exception "OutputStream is not available when a custom TextWriter is used". If I were a page or controller, I see how I can create custom responses with binary data, but I can't see how to do this from inside a control's render functions. To simplify it -- imagine I want to make a web control that renders to: <img src="pageThatControlIsOn?controlImage"> And I know how to look at incoming requests and recognize query strings that should be routed to the control. Now the control is supposed to respond with a generated image (content-type: image/png -- and the encoded image). In ASP.NET, we: Response.Clear(); Response.OutputStream.Write(thePngData); // this throws in MVC // set the content type, etc Response.End(); How am I supposed to do that in an ASP.NET MVC control?

  Hi all: I've found a similar question on SO, however, that seems not exactly what I wanna achieve: Say, this is a sample XML file: <root> <item> <id isInStock="true">10001</id> <category>Loose Balloon</category> </item> <item> <id isInStock="true">10001</id> <category>Bouquet Balloon</category> </item> <item> <id isInStock="true">10001</id> <category>Loose Balloon</category> </item> </root> If I wanna get a "filtered" subset of the item elements from this XML, how could I use an XPath expression to directly address that? XPathExpression expr = xpath.compile("/root/item/category/text()"); I now know this would evaluate to be the collection of all the TextContent from the categories, however, that means I have to use a collection to store the values, then iterate, then go back to grab other related info such as the item id again. Another question is : how could I refer to the parent node properly? Say, this xpath expression would get me the collection of all the id nodes, right? But what I want is the collection of item nodes: XPathExpression expr = xpath.compile("/root/item/id[@isInStock='true']"); I know I should use the "parent" axis to refer to that, but I just cannot make it right... Is there a better way of doing this sort of thing? Learning the w3cschools tutorials now... Sorry I am new to XPath in Java, and thanks a lot in advance.

• Attempted to read or write protected memory-Sql Compact and .NEt

  I'm using Sql Compact3.5 as my DB with C# .NET . I have a strange problem with my application. I'm running the code in two PC with same configuration except the Sql Compact installed. In one PC where Sql Compact3.5 is not installed I'm getting this strange error: Exception :Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. Inner Exception : Stack Trace : at System.Data.SqlServerCe.NativeMethods.CloseStore(IntPtr pSeStore) at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeConnection.ReleaseNativeInterfaces() at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeConnection.Dispose(Boolean disposing) at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeConnection.Finalize() Source : System.Data.SqlServerCe I don't know where i have went wrong. I checked my code and included try catch everywhere. I'm handling Unhandled exception also using this . I am getting this error from a console application which I'm starting from Windows Form. In both the application I've inserted the Unhandled Exception coding and it's getting executed and getting return to the texxt file. But still Microsoft Don't Error Report is getting generated and I get that Dialog box!!! Y still that dialog box is getting generated is the trouble!!! Is there any way to supress that Dialog box??? Y I'm getting this box when I'm handling the exception and it's executing my catch handler??? In another PC where SQL Compact is installed no error I get!!! Any idea y is that so???

• asyncsocket Write Issue

  I am attempting to use asyncsocket to communicate GPS data from a server app on my iPhone to a client app on my macbook. The two devices connect without any problems, and when the first data is sent from the iPhone to the laptop in asyncsocket's didConnectToHost method, the data is sent without hiccup. When I subsequently try to write additional data to the laptop from the locationManager method, however, no data is written. • Filtering Wikipedia's XML dump: error on some accents

  I'm trying to index Wikpedia dumps. My SAX parser make Article objects for the XML with only the fields I care about, then send it to my ArticleSink, which produces Lucene Documents. I want to filter special/meta pages like those prefixed with Category: or Wikipedia:, so I made an array of those prefixes and test the title of each page against this array in my ArticleSink, using article.getTitle.startsWith(prefix). In English, everything works fine, I get a Lucene index with all the pages except for the matching prefixes. In French, the prefixes with no accent also work (i.e. filter the corresponding pages), some of the accented prefixes don't work at all (like Catégorie:), and some work most of the time but fail on some pages (like Wikipédia:) but I cannot see any difference between the corresponding lines (in less). I can't really inspect all the differences in the file because of its size (5 GB), but it looks like a correct UTF-8 XML. If I take a portion of the file using grep or head, the accents are correct (even on the incriminated pages, the <title>Catégorie:something</title> is correctly displayed by grep). On the other hand, when I rectreate a wiki XML by tail/head-cutting the original file, the same page (here Catégorie:Rock par ville) gets filtered in the small file, not in the original… Any idea ? • 'echo' or drop out of 'programming' write HTML then start PHP code again

  For the most part, when I want to display some HTML code to be actually rendered I would use a 'close PHP' tag, write the HTML, then open the PHP again. eg <?php // some php code ?> <p>HTML that I want displayed</p> <?php // more php code ?> But I have seen lots of people who would just use echo instead, so they would have done the above something like <?php // some php code echo("<p>HTML that I want displayed</p>"); // more php code ?> Is their any performance hit for dropping out and back in like that? I would assume not as the PHP engine would have to process the entire file either way. What about when you use the echo function in the way that dose not look like a function, eg echo "<p>HTML that I want displayed</p>" I would hope that this is purely a matter of taste, but I would like to know if I was missing out on something. I personally find the first way preferable (dropping out of PHP then back in) as it helps draw a clear distinction between PHP and HTML and also lets you make use of code highlighting and hinting for your HTML, which is always handy.

  I have a sample ASP.NET MVC 3 web application that is following Jonathan McCracken's Test-Drive Asp.NET MVC (great book , by the way) and I have stumbled upon a problem. Note that I'm using MVCContrib, Rhino and NUnit. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. The controller action code is the following: [HttpGet] public ActionResult Index() { ViewData.Model = Todo.ThingsToBeDone; ViewBag.UserName = HttpContext.User.Identity.Name; return View(); } From what I have figured out, the app seems to crash because of the two assignements in the controller action. However, I cannot see how there are wrong!? Can anyone help me pinpoint the solution to this problem. Thank you.

• Using .NET XmlSerializer with get properties and setter functions

  I'm trying to use XmlSerializer from C# to save out a class that has some values that are read by properties (the code being just a simple retrieval of field value) but set by setter functions (since there is a delegate called if the value changes). What I'm currently doing is this sort of thing. The intended use is to use the InT property to read the value, and use SetInT to set it. Setting it has side-effects, so a method is more appropriate than a property here. XmlSerializationOnly_InT exists solely for the benefit of the XmlSerializer (hence the name), and shouldn't be used by normal code. class X { public double InT { get { return _inT; } } public void SetInT(double newInT) { if (newInT != _inT) { _inT = newInT; Changed();//includes delegate call; potentially expensive } } private double _inT; // not called by normal code, as the property set is not just a simple // field set or two. [XmlElement(ElementName = "InT")] public double XmlSerializationOnly_InT { get { return InT; } set { SetInT(value); } } } This works, it's easy enough to do, and the XML file looks like you'd expect. It's manual labour though, and a bit ugly, so I'm only somewhat satisfied. What I'd really like is to be able to tell the XML serialization to read the value using the property, and set it using the setter function. Then I wouldn't need XmlSerializationOnly_InT at all. I seem to be following standard practise by distinguishing between property sets and setter functions in this way, so I'm sure I'm not the only person to have encountered this (though google suggests I might be). What have others done in this situation? Is there some easy way to persuade the XmlSerializer to handle this sort of thing better? If not, is there perhaps some other easy way to do it?

  I'm trying to set the DataContext on ApplicationMainWindow which is a WPF window. Component.For<ApplicationMainWindow>() .DynamicParameters( (k,d) => { d["DataContext"] = k[typeof(ApplicationMainViewModel)]; }) ); I'm instantiating my window like so: Window window = _Kernel[typeof(ApplicationMainWindow)] as Window; When I configure windsor via the xml config it leaves my DataContext NULL, but when I configure it via code it works like a charm. • Serializing MDI Winforms for persistency

  Hello, basically my project is an MDI Winform application where a user can customize the interface by adding various controls and changing the layout. I would like to be able to save the state of the application for each user. I would need to write some sort of a recursive algorithm to save all my controls, what is the best approach to do accomplish that? How would I then restore all the windows, should I use the memento design pattern for that? If I want to implement multiple users later, should I use Nhibernate to store all the object data in a database? I am still trying to wrap my head around the problem and if anyone has any experience or advice I would greatly appreciate it, thanks.

• How to emulate "-lib foo.jar" from _within_ build.xml

  By specifying "-lib foo.jar" to ant I get the behaviour that the classes in foo.jar is added to the ant classloader and are available for various tasks taking a class name argument. I'd like to be able to specify the same behaviour but only from inside build.xml (so we can do this on a vanilla ant). For taskdefs we have functioning code looking like: <taskdef resource="net/sf/antcontrib/antlib.xml" description="for/foreach tasks"> <classpath> <pathelement location="${active.workspace}/ant-contrib-1.X/lib/ant-contrib.jar" /> </classpath> </taskdef> where the definition is completely provided from the ant-contrib.jar listed. What is the equivalent mechanism for the "global" ant classpath? (I have thought out that this is the way to get <javac> use ecj-3.5.jar to compile with on a JRE - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2364006/specifying-the-eclipse-compiler-completely-from-within-build-xml - in a way compatible with ant 1.7. Better suggestions are welcome :) EDIT: It appears that the about-to-be-released version 1.0 of ant4eclipse includes ecj. This does not answer the question, but may solve my basic problem.

So I have to create the BottomLabel as a property in my "Code behind". How do I specify the same binding for Content property of Bottom label in my code behind ? Is it possible at all ?   I have an xml file in a flat structure. We do not control the format of this xml file, just have to deal with it. I've renamed the fields because they are highly domain specific and don't really make any difference to the problem. <attribute name="Title">Book A</attribute> <attribute name="Code">1</attribute> <attribute name="Author"> <value>James Berry</value> <value>John Smith</value> </attribute> <attribute name="Title">Book B</attribute> <attribute name="Code">2</attribute> <attribute name="Title">Book C</attribute> <attribute name="Code">3</attribute> <attribute name="Author"> <value>James Berry</value> </attribute> Key things to note: the file is not particularly hierarchical. Books are delimited by an occurance of an attribute element with name='Title'. But the name='Author' attribute node is optional. Is there a simple xpath statement I can use to find the authors of book 'n'? It is easy to identify the title of book 'n', but the authors value is optional. And you can't just take the following author because in the case of book 2, this would give the author for book 3. I have written a state machine to parse this as a series of elements, but I can't help thinking there would have been a way to directly get the results that I want.

This is displayed 5 times in the listbox whenever I run it.
