  • CSS Attribute selector - Match attribute values that begin with

    - by LuckyShot
    I am trying to identify all the <UL> that contain a menu list by defining the ID like this: <ul id="menutop"> <li><a href="#">item1</a></li> <li><a href="#">item2</a></li> <li><a href="#">item3</a></li> </ul> <ul id="menumain"> <li><a href="#">item1</a></li> <li><a href="#">item2</a></li> <li><a href="#">item3</a></li> </ul> As per what I understand, I could use: ul[id|='menu']>li>a {color:#f00;} (<a> direct child of a <li> direct child of an <ul> that has its id starting with menu) But it doesn't work. Searching a bit brought me this [question][1] which suggests that ID is an attribute and not a property so I don't get why it isn't working. What am I doing wrong? Here's a link to the CSS2 Matching attributes and attribute values as per the W3 standards ( http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS2/selector.html#matching-attrs ).

  • How do I add dynamic htmlAttributes to htmlhelper ActionLinks?

    - by camainc
    In my master page I have a top-level menu that is created using ActionLinks: <ul id="topNav"> <li><%=Html.ActionLink("Home", "Index", "Home")%></li> <li><%=Html.ActionLink("News", "Index", "News")%></li> <li><%=Html.ActionLink("Projects", "Index", "Projects")%></li> <li><%=Html.ActionLink("About", "About", "Home")%></li> <li><%=Html.ActionLink("Contact", "Contact", "Home")%></li> <li><%=Html.ActionLink("Photos", "Photos", "Photos")%></li> </ul> I want to dynamically add a class named "current" to the link that the site is currently pointing to. So, for example, when the site is sitting at the home page, the menu link would render like this: <li><a class="current" href="/">Home</a></li> Do I have to overload the ActionLink method to do this, or create an entirely new HtmlHelper, or is there a better way? I'm fairly new to MVC, so I'm not sure what is the correct way to go about this. Thanks in advance.

  • Cross-browser padding/margins

    - by Lucifer
    Hi All, I was wondering if you could give me some helpful hints on how to correct this issue? I have a main menu on my site, the code for it is as follows: li:hover { background-color: #222222; padding-top: 8px; padding-bottom: 9px; } And here's a demo of what it actually looks like: The problem is that when I hover over a menu option (li), the background appears, but it overflows to the outside of the menu's background, and makes it look really dodgy/crap/cheap/yuck! Note that (obviously) when I change the padding to make it display correctly in these browsers, it appears too small in height in IE! So I'm screwed either way. How can I make little imperfections like this look the same in all browsers? Update: HTML (The menu): <ul class="menu"> <li class="currentPage" href="index.php"><a>Home</a></li> <li><a href="services.php">Services</a></li> <li><a href="support.php">Support</a></li> <li><a href="contact.php">Contact Us</a></li> <li><a href="myaccount/" class="myaccount">My Account</a></li> </ul> The CSS: .menu { margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 5px; width: 345px; float: right; } li { font-size: 9pt; color: whitesmoke; padding-left: 6px; padding-right: 8px; display: inline; list-style: none; } li:hover { background-color: #222222; padding-top: 8px; padding-bottom: 9px; }

  • wordpress categories and their subcategories

    - by Ayrton
    Hi I'm looking to obtain all the (parent) categories with their children accordingly (assuming you don't have grandchildren) and make the following structure <div class="box"> <h3><a href="#">Parent Category I</a></h3> <ul> <li><a href="#">sub cat 1</a></li> <li><a href="#">sub cat 2</a></li> <li><a href="#">sub cat 3</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="box"> <h3><a href="#">Parent Category II</a></h3> <ul> <li><a href="#">sub cat 1</a></li> <li><a href="#">sub cat 2<</a></li> <li><a href="#">sub cat 3</a></li> </ul> </div> I figured it's something like (don't mind the syntax) however I don't know how to obtain those (parent)categories and their children: $parents = ... ; foreach($parents as $parent){ <div> <h3>$parent</h3> $children = ...; <ul> foreach ($children as $child){ <li>$child</li> } </ul> </div> }

  • How to Use Images as Navigation with innerfade Slideshow?

    - by Katie
    I am very new to JavaScript and only have the most basic understanding of how it works, so please bear with me. :) I'm using the jquery.innerfade.js script to create a slideshow with fade transitions for a website I'm developing, and I have added navigation buttons (which are set as background-images) that navigate between the “slides”. The navigation buttons have three states: default/off, hover, and on (each state is a separate image). I created a separate JavaScript document to set the buttons to “on” when they are clicked. The “hover” state is achieved through the CSS. Both the slideshow and the navigation buttons work well. There is just one thing I want to add: I would like the appropriate navigation button to display as “on” while the related “slide” is “playing”. Here's the HTML: <div id="mainFeature"> <ul id="theFeature"> <li id="the1feature"><a href="#" name="#promo1"><img src="_images/carousel/promo1.jpg" /></a></li> <li id="the2feature"><a href="#" name="#promo2"><img src="_images/carousel/promo2.jpg" /></a></li> <li id="the3feature"><a href="#" name="#promo3"><img src="_images/carousel/promo3.jpg" /></a></li> </ul> <div id="promonav-con"> <div id="primarypromonav"> <ul class="links"> <li id="the1title" class="promotop"><a rel="1" href="#promo1" class="promo1" id="promo1" onMouseDown="promo1on()"><strong>Botox Cosmetic</strong></a></li> <li id="the2title" class="promotop"><a rel="2" href="#promo2" class="promo2" id="promo2" onMouseDown="promo2on()"><strong>Promo 2</strong></a></li> <li id="the3title" class="promotop"><a rel="3" href="#promo3" class="promo3" id="promo3" onMouseDown="promo3on()"><strong>Promo 3</strong></a></li> </ul> </div> </div> And here is the jquery.innerfade.js, with my changes: (function($) { $.fn.innerfade = function(options) { return this.each(function() { $.innerfade(this, options); }); }; $.innerfade = function(container, options) { var settings = { 'speed': 'normal', 'timeout': 2000, 'containerheight': 'auto', 'runningclass': 'innerfade', 'children': null }; if (options) $.extend(settings, options); if (settings.children === null) var elements = $(container).children(); else var elements = $(container).children(settings.children); if (elements.length > 1) { $(container).css('position', 'relative').css('height', settings.containerheight).addClass(settings.runningclass); for (var i = 0; i < elements.length; i++) { $(elements[i]).css('z-index', String(elements.length-i)).css('position', 'absolute').hide(); }; this.ifchanger = setTimeout(function() { $.innerfade.next(elements, settings, 1, 0); }, settings.timeout); $(elements[0]).show(); } }; $.innerfade.next = function(elements, settings, current, last) { $(elements[last]).fadeOut(settings.speed); $(elements[current]).fadeIn(settings.speed, function() { removeFilter($(this)[0]); }); if ((current + 1) < elements.length) { current = current + 1; last = current - 1; } else { current = 0; last = elements.length - 1; } this.ifchanger = setTimeout((function() { $.innerfade.next(elements, settings, current, last); }), settings.timeout); }; })(jQuery); // **** remove Opacity-Filter in ie **** function removeFilter(element) { if(element.style.removeAttribute){ element.style.removeAttribute('filter'); } } jQuery(document).ready(function() { jQuery('ul#theFeature').innerfade({ speed: 1000, timeout: 7000, containerheight: '291px' }); // jQuery('#mainFeature .links').children('li').children('a').attr('href', 'javascript:void(0);'); jQuery('#mainFeature .links').children('li').children('a').click(function() { clearTimeout(jQuery.innerfade.ifchanger); for(i=1;i<5;i++) { jQuery('#the'+i+'feature').css("display", "none"); //jQuery('#the'+i+'title').children('a').css("background-color","#226478"); } // if(the_widths[(jQuery(this).attr('rel')-1)]==960) { // jQuery("#vic").hide(); // } else { // jQuery("#vic").show(); // } // jQuery('#the'+(jQuery(this).attr('rel'))+'title').css("background-color", "#286a7f"); jQuery('#the'+(jQuery(this).attr('rel'))+'feature').css("display", "block"); clearTimeout(jQuery.innerfade.ifchanger); }); }); And the separate JavaScript that I created: function promo1on() {document.getElementById("promo1").className="promo1on"; document.getElementById("promo2").className="promo2"; document.getElementById("promo2").className="promo2"; } function promo2on() {document.getElementById("promo2").className="promo2on"; document.getElementById("promo1").className="promo1"; document.getElementById("promo3").className="promo3"; } function promo3on() {document.getElementById("promo3").className="promo3on"; document.getElementById("promo1").className="promo1"; document.getElementById("promo2").className="promo2"; } And, finally, the CSS: #mainFeature {float: left; width: 672px; height: 290px; margin: 0 0 9px 0; list-style: none;} #mainFeature li {list-style: none;} #mainFeature #theFeature {margin: 0; padding: 0; position: relative;} #mainFeature #theFeature li {position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0;} #promonav-con {width: 463px; height: 26px; padding: 0; margin: 0; position: absolute; z-index: 900; top: 407px; left: 283px;} #primarypromonav {padding: 0; margin: 0;} #mainFeature .links {padding: 0; margin: 0; list-style: none; position: relative; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; width: 463px; height: 26px;} #mainFeature .links li.promotop {list-style: none; display: block; float: left; display: inline; margin: 0; padding: 0;} #mainFeature .links li a {display: block; float: left; display: inline; height: 26px; text-decoration: none; margin: 0; padding: 0; cursor: pointer;} #mainFeature .links li a strong {margin-left: -9999px;} #mainFeature .links li a.promo1 {background: url(../_images/carouselnav/promo1.gif); Again, I'm very new to JavaScript/JQuery, so I apologize if this is a mess. I'm very grateful for any suggestions. Thanks!

  • closing an unordered list

    - by snorpey
    On a website, I want to display the main navigation as an unordered list. After 3 items I want to close that list and open a new one, so it eventually looks something like this: <div id="navigation"> <ul> <li>1</li> <li>2</li> <li>3</li> </ul> <ul> <li>4</li> <li>5</li> <li>6</li> </ul> </div> The navigation is dynmically generated using jQuery + Ajax. This is what the code I'm using looks like: $.getJSON("load.php", { some: value }, function(data) { $.each(data.items, function(i, item) { $('#navigation').find('ul').append('<li>' + i + '</li>'); if(i % 3 == 0) { $('#navigation').find('ul').append('</ul><ul>'); } }); }); Unfortunately, the browser doesn't interpret this right and treats the closing ul tag as a nested object of the first ul. How do I fix this?

  • jquery tabbed interface breaks when using images

    - by Steve
    hello all, using jquery to create a tabbed interface. coding is quite typical: html: <div id="tabbed-interface"> <ul> <li><a href="#option1">Option1</a></li> <li><a href="#option2">Option2</a></li> <li><a href="#option3">Option3</a></li> </ul> </div> jquery: $(document).ready(function(){ $('#tabbed-interface li:first').addClass('active'); $('#tabbed-interface div').not(':first').hide(); $('#tabbed-interface>ul>li>a').click(function(event){ $('#tabbed-interface>ul>li').removeClass('active'); $(event.target).parent().addClass('active'); $('#tabbed-interface>div').fadeOut().filter(this.hash).fadeIn(250); return false;});}); css: ul li {background: #232323; list-style: none; border: 1px solid #616161; } ul li.active {background: none; list-style: none; border: 1px solid: #616161; border-bottom: 1px solid #121212; z-index: 1; } as you can see, all this does is add the class 'active' to the li that is clicked, and this corresponds to whether a background is shown or not. this works perfectly with text, but i am required to use non standard fonts. when i try to side step the issue using transparent .png images, it is unreliable. For instance, changing the HTML to: <div id="tabbed-interface"> <ul> <li><a href="#option1"><img src="option1.png" /></a></li>

  • HTML Setting Active with different background colour

    - by danit
    Here is my HTML List: <ul id="navlist"> <li class="item1"><a href="#">One</a></li> <li class="item2"><a href="#">Two</a></li> <li class="item3"><a href="#">Three</a></li> <li class="item4"><a href="#">Four</a></li> <li class="item5"><a href="#">Five</a></li> <li class="item6"><a href="#">Six</a></li> </ul> Each .itemx has a different background colour, so I need the active state to take into account the class. Obviously something like: <li class="item6" id="active"><a href="#">Six</a></li> #active.item6 { background: red; } Would work but IE6 doesnt like chained items in CSS so doesnt work when other items are set out in the CSS. Can I do this with jQuery where each item has a different background colour when 'active?

  • Prevent jQuery Tabs to bind to <ul> elements below the main <ul> element.

    - by Shiki
    Hi, I have this HTML: <div id="mytabs"> <ul id="main-tabs"> <li><a href="">Link</a></li> <li><a href="">Link</a></li> <li class="filter"> <ul id="filter-controls"> <li><a href="">Filter by something</a></li> <li><a href="">Filter by something</a></li> <li><a href="">Filter by something</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> </div> And I set it to a tabbed control: $('#mytabs').tabs(); My problem is jQuery UI also converts the <li> elements in <ul id="filter-controls"> into tabs. Is there a way to instruct jQuery UI to only set the <li> children of <ul id="main-tabs"> as the tabs? Note: I am currently in no position to change <ul id="filter-controls" into a non-ul element.

  • javascript prototype problem

    - by Chris Tosswill
    So I have a rather basic javascript problem which I have been slamming my head into a wall over for awhile: <div class='alist'> <ul> <li class='group_1'> An Item </li> <li class='group_1'> An Item </li> <li class='group_2'> An Item </li> </ul> </div> <div class='alist'> <ul> <li class='group_1'> An Item </li> <li class='group_1'> An Item </li> <li class='group_2'> An Item </li> </ul> </div> <script> function toggle_item( num ){ $$( 'li.group_' + num ).invoke('toggle'); } </script> Basically, I need to create a sweeper that sets the div to display:none if all the li are display:none. I think it would start like: function sweep(){ $$('div.alist').each( function( s ) { ar = s.down().children }); } Any suggestions for good tutorials would be welcome as well

  • jQuery make child div visible on hover (on effective li element only, not parent!)

    - by Dennis
    I've already tried all of the existing posts related to this, but they doesn't work as I want it... The HTML: <ol class="sortable"> <li> <div> <a href="#">Start Page</a> <div class="li_options"> <a href="#"><img src="img/icons/small_add.png" /></a> <a href="#" onClick="[..]"><img src="img/icons/small_remove.png" /></a> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <ol> <li> <div> <a href="#">Sub Seite</a> <div class="li_options"> <a href="#"><img src="img/icons/small_add.png" /></a> <a href="#" onClick="[..]"><img src="img/icons/small_remove.png" /></a> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> <ol> <li> <div> <a href="#">Sub Sub Seite</a> <div class="li_options"> <a href="#"><img src="img/icons/small_add.png" /></a> <a href="#" onClick="[..]"><img src="img/icons/small_remove.png" /></a> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> </li> </ol> </li> </ol> </li> <div class="clear"></div> This should look like this: Start Page Sub Page Sub Page I want the div.li_options which is set for every li element to be shown only on hovering element. I know, that the parent's li is also being "hovered" on hovering child elements, but I don't those "li_options" to be displayed. The best solution so far: $(document).ready(function() { $('.sortable li').mouseover(function() { $(this).children().children('.li_options').show(); }).mouseout(function() { $(this).children().children('.li_options').hide(); }); }); But with this, parents aren't being excluded... I don't know how to point on them, because there can be endless levels. Do you know how to get this working?

  • Interesting SQL Sorting Issue

    - by rofly
    It's crunch time, deadline for my most recent contract is coming in two days and almost everything is complete and working fine (knock on wood) except for one issue. In one of my stored procedures, I'm needing to return a result set as follows. group_id | name A101 | Craig A102 | Craig Z101 | Craig Z102 | Craig A101 | Jim A102 | Jim Z101 | Jim Z102 | Jim B101 | Andy B102 | Andy Z101 | Andy Z102 | Andy The names need to be sorted by the first character of the group id and also include the Z101/Z102 entries. By sorting strictly by the group id, I get a result set as follows: A101 | Craig A102 | Craig A101 | Jim A102 | Jim B101 | Andy B102 | Andy Z101 | Andy Z102 | Andy Z101 | Jim Z102 | Jim I really can't think of a solution that doesn't involve me making a cursor and bloating the stored procedure up more than it already is. I'm sure a great mind out there has an elegant solution and I'm eager to see what the community can come up with. Thanks a ton in advance.

  • Copying one form's values to another form using JQuery

    - by rsturim
    I have a "shipping" form that I want to offer users the ability to copy their input values over to their "billing" form by simply checking a checkbox. I've coded up a solution that works -- but, I'm sort of new to jQuery and wanted some criticism on how I went about achieving this. Is this well done -- any refactorings you'd recommend? Any advice would be much appreciated! The Script <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $("#copy").click(function() { if($(this).is(":checked")){ var $allShippingInputs = $(":input:not(input[type=submit])", "form#shipping"); $allShippingInputs.each(function() { var billingInput = "#" + this.name.replace("ship", "bill"); $(billingInput).val($(this).val()); }) //console.log("checked"); } else { $(':input','#billing') .not(':button, :submit, :reset, :hidden') .val('') .removeAttr('checked') .removeAttr('selected'); //console.log("not checked") } }); }); </script> The Form <div> <form action="" method="get" name="shipping" id="shipping"> <fieldset> <legend>Shipping</legend> <ul> <li> <label for="ship_first_name">First Name:</label> <input type="text" name="ship_first_name" id="ship_first_name" value="John" size="" /> </li> <li> <label for="ship_last_name">Last Name:</label> <input type="text" name="ship_last_name" id="ship_last_name" value="Smith" size="" /> </li> <li> <label for="ship_state">State:</label> <select name="ship_state" id="ship_state"> <option value="RI">Rhode Island</option> <option value="VT" selected="selected">Vermont</option> <option value="CT">Connecticut</option> </select> </li> <li> <label for="ship_zip_code">Zip Code</label> <input type="text" name="ship_zip_code" id="ship_zip_code" value="05401" size="8" /> </li> <li> <input type="submit" name="" /> </li> </ul> </fieldset> </form> </div> <div> <form action="" method="get" name="billing" id="billing"> <fieldset> <legend>Billing</legend> <ul> <li> <input type="checkbox" name="copy" id="copy" /> <label for="copy">Same of my shipping</label> </li> <li> <label for="bill_first_name">First Name:</label> <input type="text" name="bill_first_name" id="bill_first_name" value="" size="" /> </li> <li> <label for="bill_last_name">Last Name:</label> <input type="text" name="bill_last_name" id="bill_last_name" value="" size="" /> </li> <li> <label for="bill_state">State:</label> <select name="bill_state" id="bill_state"> <option>-- Choose State --</option> <option value="RI">Rhode Island</option> <option value="VT">Vermont</option> <option value="CT">Connecticut</option> </select> </li> <li> <label for="bill_zip_code">Zip Code</label> <input type="text" name="bill_zip_code" id="bill_zip_code" value="" size="8" /> </li> <li> <input type="submit" name="" /> </li> </ul> </fieldset> </form> </div>

  • Twitter Bootstrap Collapsible Navbar Duplicating

    I am working on a project using Twitter Bootstrap. One thing that I noticed is that my pages have duplicate navbars when they are defined as collapsible and the page is resized smaller.
