  • jQuery noob: change border color of element on hover of another element.

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
    I'd try to explain what I mean, but there is an easier way: click here for jsfiddle example. Basically I want the border color of the div rfrsh_btn to change when productOptionsMenu is hovered over. I'm using jQuery with the .noConflict var because this site also uses Prototype. jQuery: var $j = jQuery.noConflict(); $j(".productOptionsMenu").hover( function () { $j(#rfrsh_btn).css({"border-color":"#85c222"}); }; ); Thanks :)

  • SharePoint 2010 Sandboxed solution SPGridView

    - by Steve Clements
    If you didn’t know, you probably will soon, the SPGridView is not available in Sandboxed solutions. To be honest there doesn’t seem to be a great deal of information out there about the whys and what nots, basically its not part of the Sandbox SharePoint API. Of course the error message from SharePoint is about as useful as punch in the face… An unexpected error has been encountered in this Web Part.  Error: A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Page cannot be displayed or imported. You don't have Add and Customize Pages permissions required to perform this action …that’s if you have debug=true set, if not the classic “This webpart cannot be added” !! Love that one! but will a little digging you should find something like this… [TypeLoadException: Could not load  type Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls.SPGridView from assembly 'Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=14.900.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c'.]   Depending on what you want to do with the SPGridView, this may not help at all.  But I’m looking to inherit the theme of the site and style it accordingly. After spending a bit of time with Chrome’s FireBug I was able to get the required CSS classes.  I created my own class inheriting from GridView (note the lack of a preceding SP!) and simply set the styles in there. Inherit from the standard GridView public class PSGridView : GridView   Set the styles in the contructor… public PSGridView() {     this.CellPadding = 2;     this.CellSpacing = 0;     this.GridLines = GridLines.None;     this.CssClass = "ms-listviewtable";     this.Attributes.Add("style", "border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; width: 100%; border-collapse: collapse; border-top-style: none; border-left-style: none;");       this.HeaderStyle.CssClass = "ms-viewheadertr";          this.RowStyle.CssClass = "ms-itmhover";     this.SelectedRowStyle.CssClass = "s4-itm-selected";     this.RowStyle.Height = new Unit(25); }   Then as you cant override the Columns property setter, a custom method to add the column and set the style… public PSGridView() {     this.CellPadding = 2;     this.CellSpacing = 0;     this.GridLines = GridLines.None;     this.CssClass = "ms-listviewtable";     this.Attributes.Add("style", "border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; width: 100%; border-collapse: collapse; border-top-style: none; border-left-style: none;");       this.HeaderStyle.CssClass = "ms-viewheadertr";          this.RowStyle.CssClass = "ms-itmhover";     this.SelectedRowStyle.CssClass = "s4-itm-selected";     this.RowStyle.Height = new Unit(25); }   And that should be enough to get the nicely styled SPGridView without the need for the SPGridView, but seriously….get the SPGridView in the SandBox!!!   Technorati Tags: Sharepoint 2010,SPGridView,Sandbox Solutions,Sandbox Technorati Tags: Sharepoint 2010,SPGridView,Sandbox Solutions,Sandbox

  • How to programmatically create customcontrol and change its values in Silverlight 4

    - by user361317
    Hi! I want to create a custom tabcontrol class which has an icon before the text, and I want to be able to change the icon in the constructor of the new tabcontrol. I use implicit styles in Silverlight 4, and the custom tabcontrol should not have any xaml of its own, just the class and the implicit xaml style in my App.xaml. I cannot, however, get this to work. This is my code: <!-- Style for generic tabcontrols --> 20,0,0,0 <Style TargetType="controls:TabItem"> <Setter Property="IsTabStop" Value="False"/> <Setter Property="Background" Value="#FFDBEDFB"/> <Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="#FFA3AEB9"/> <Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="1"/> <Setter Property="Padding" Value="6,2,6,2"/> <Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Stretch"/> <Setter Property="VerticalContentAlignment" Value="Stretch"/> <Setter Property="MinWidth" Value="5"/> <Setter Property="MinHeight" Value="5"/> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="controls:TabItem"> <Grid x:Name="Root" Cursor="Hand" Height="25"> <VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups> <VisualStateGroup x:Name="CommonStates"> Is this even possible? Can someone point me in the right direction? Cheers! - jonah

  • Plane projection and scale causing bluring in silverlight

    - by Andy
    Ok, So I've tried to make an application which relies on images being scaled by an individual factor. These images are then able to be turned over, but the use of an animation working on the ProjectionPlane rotation. The problem comes around when an image is both scaled and rotated. For some reason it starts bluring, where a non scaled image doesn't blur. Also, if you look at the example image below (top is scaled and rotated, bottom is rotated) the projection of the top one doesn't even seem right. Its too horizontal. This this the code for the test app: <UserControl x:Class="SilverlightApplication1.Page" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Width="400" Height="300"> <Canvas x:Name="LayoutRoot" Background="White"> <Border Canvas.Top="25" Canvas.Left="50"> <Border.RenderTransform> <TransformGroup> <ScaleTransform ScaleX="3" ScaleY="3" /> </TransformGroup> </Border.RenderTransform> <Border.Projection> <PlaneProjection RotationY="45"/> </Border.Projection> <Image Source="bw-test-pattern.jpg" Width="50" Height="40"/> </Border> <Border Canvas.Top="150" Canvas.Left="50"> <Border.RenderTransform> <TransformGroup> <ScaleTransform ScaleX="1" ScaleY="1" /> </TransformGroup> </Border.RenderTransform> <Border.Projection> <PlaneProjection RotationY="45"/> </Border.Projection> <Image Source="bw-test-pattern.jpg" Width="150" Height="120"/> </Border> </Canvas> </UserControl> So if anyone could possible shed any light on why this may be happening, I'd very much appreciate it. Suggestions also welcome! :)

  • jQuery CSS plugin that returns computed style of element to pseudo clone that element?

    - by Keith Bentrup
    I'm looking for a way using jQuery to return an object of computed styles for the 1st matched element. I could then pass this object to another call of jQuery's css method. For example, with width, I can do the following to make the 2 divs have the same width: $('#div2').width($('#div1').width()); It would be nice if I could make a text input look like an existing span: $('#input1').css($('#span1').css()); where .css() with no argument returns an object that can be passed to .css(obj). (I can't find a jQuery plugin for this, but it seems like it should exist. If it doesn't exist, I'll turn mine below into a plugin and post it with all the properties that I use.) Basically, I want to pseudo clone certain elements but use a different tag. For example, I have an li element that I want to hide and put an input element over it that looks the same. When the user types, it looks like they are editing the element inline. I'm also open to other approaches for this pseudo cloning problem for editing. Any suggestions? Here's what I currently have. The only problem is just getting all the possible styles. This could be a ridiculously long list. jQuery.fn.css2 = jQuery.fn.css; jQuery.fn.css = function() { if (arguments.length) return jQuery.fn.css2.apply(this, arguments); var attr = ['font-family','font-size','font-weight','font-style','color', 'text-transform','text-decoration','letter-spacing','word-spacing', 'line-height','text-align','vertical-align','direction','background-color', 'background-image','background-repeat','background-position', 'background-attachment','opacity','width','height','top','right','bottom', 'left','margin-top','margin-right','margin-bottom','margin-left', 'padding-top','padding-right','padding-bottom','padding-left', 'border-top-width','border-right-width','border-bottom-width', 'border-left-width','border-top-color','border-right-color', 'border-bottom-color','border-left-color','border-top-style', 'border-right-style','border-bottom-style','border-left-style','position', 'display','visibility','z-index','overflow-x','overflow-y','white-space', 'clip','float','clear','cursor','list-style-image','list-style-position', 'list-style-type','marker-offset']; var len = attr.length, obj = {}; for (var i = 0; i < len; i++) obj[attr[i]] = jQuery.fn.css2.call(this, attr[i]); return obj; } Edit: I've now been using the code above for awhile. It works well and behaves exactly like the original css method with one exception: if 0 args are passed, it returns the computed style object. As you can see, it immediately calls the original css method if that's the case that applies. Otherwise, it gets the computed styles of all the listed properties (gathered from Firebug's computed style list). Although it's getting a long list of values, it's quite fast. Hope it's useful to others.

  • Cufon h2 on div hover

    - by SoulieBaby
    Hi all, I have h2 tags inside divs which I need to change colour on div hover, if the cufon is turned off, the h2 tag changes colour fine, but when cufon is turned on, it doesn't change colour. Here's my code: Cufon Cufon.set('fontFamily', 'DIN'); Cufon.replace('.listing_04 li a .bx1 .right .head_bx h2', { hover: true, hoverables: { a: true, div: true } }); CSS .listing_04 li a .bx1 .right .head_bx h2 { color: #e91397; font-size: 16px; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; } .listing_04 li a:hover .bx1 .right .head_bx h2 { color: #ffff00; } Code <div class="listing_04"> <ul> <li> <a href="#"> <div class="bx1"> <div class="left"> <img src="images/friends_only.jpg" alt="" border="0" class="img_border01" /> <div class="staring_bx"> <img src="images/star1.png" border="0" /> <img src="images/star1.png" border="0" /> <img src="images/star1.png" width="16" height="15" border="0" /> <img src="images/star2.png" width="16" height="15" border="0" /> <img src="images/star2.png" width="16" height="15" border="0" /></div> </div> <div class="right"> <div class="head_bx"> <h2><strong>The Party Girls</strong></h2> My Favourites</div> <p> By : <b>Modi</b><br /> 19 Jan 2010 @ 20:20<br /> Views : <strong>1542484</strong><br /> Comments : <strong>84 </strong></p> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> </a> </li> <li> <a href="#"> <div class="bx1"> <div class="left"> <img src="images/img_07.jpg" alt="" border="0" class="img_border01" /> <div class="staring_bx"> <img src="images/star1.png" border="0" /> <img src="images/star1.png" border="0" /> <img src="images/star1.png" width="16" height="15" border="0" /> <img src="images/star2.png" width="16" height="15" border="0" /> <img src="images/star2.png" width="16" height="15" border="0" /></div> </div> <div class="right"> <div class="head_bx"> <h2><strong>The Party Girls</strong></h2> My Favourites</div> <p> By : <b>Modi</b><br /> 19 Jan 2010 @ 20:20<br /> Views : <strong>1542484</strong><br /> Comments : <strong>84 </strong></p> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> </a> </li> <li> <a href="#"> <div class="bx1"> <div class="left"> <img src="images/resticted_image.jpg" alt="" border="0" class="img_border01" /> <div class="staring_bx"> <img src="images/star1.png" border="0" /> <img src="images/star1.png" border="0" /> <img src="images/star1.png" width="16" height="15" border="0" /> <img src="images/star2.png" width="16" height="15" border="0" /> <img src="images/star2.png" width="16" height="15" border="0" /></div> </div> <div class="right"> <div class="head_bx"> <h2><strong>The Party Girls</strong></h2> My Favourites</div> <p> By : <b>Modi</b><br /> 19 Jan 2010 @ 20:20<br /> Views : <strong>1542484</strong><br /> Comments : <strong>84 </strong></p> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </div> </a> </li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </div> Example URL: http://dev.splished.360southclients.com/test.php In this test I've disabled cufon for you to see that the h2 colour change works when you hover over the .bx1 div, click "turn cufon on" to see it with the cufon.

  • Choose variable based on users choice from picklist.

    - by Kelbizzle
    I have this form. Basically what I want is to send a auto-response with a different URL based on what the user picks in the "attn" picklist. I've been thinking I could have a different variable for each drop down value. It will then pass this variable on to the mail script that will choose which URL to insert inside the auto response that is sent. It gives me a headache thinking about it sometimes. What's the easiest way to accomplish this? Am I making more work for myself? I really don't know because I'm no programmer. Thanks in advance! Here is the form: <form name="contact_form" method="post" action="sendemail_reports.php" onsubmit="return validate_form ( );"> <div id='zohoWebToLead' align=center> <table width="100%" border="0" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="txt_body"> <table border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=5 width=480 style='border-bottom-color: #999999; border-top-color: #999999; border-bottom-style: none; border-top-style: none; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-top-width: 2px; background-color:transparent;'> <tr> <td width='75%'><table width=480 border=0 cellpadding=5 cellspacing=0 style='border-bottom-color: #999999; border-top-color: #999999; border-bottom-style: none; border-top-style: none; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-top-width: 2px; background-color:transparent;'> <input type="hidden" name="ip" value="'.$ipi.'" /> <input type="hidden" name="httpref" value="'.$httprefi.'" /> <input type="hidden" name="httpagent" value="'.$httpagenti.'" /> <tr></tr> <tr> <td colspan='2' align='left' style='border-bottom-color: #dadada; border-bottom-style: none; border-bottom-width: 2px; color:#000000; font-family:sans-serif; font-size:14px;'><strong>Send us an Email</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td nowrap style='font-family:sans-serif;font-size:12px;font-weight:bold' align='right' width='25%'> First Name   : </td> <td width='75%'><input name='visitorf' type='text' size="48" maxlength='40' /></td> </tr> <tr> <td nowrap style='font-family:sans-serif;font-size:12px;font-weight:bold' align='right' width='25%'>Last Name   :</td> <td width='75%'><input name='visitorfl' type='text' size="48" maxlength='80' /></td> </tr> <tr> <td nowrap style= 'font-family:sans-serif;font-size:12px;font-weight:bold' align='right' width='25%'> Email Adress  : </td> <td width='75%'><input name='visitormail' type='text' size="48" maxlength='100' /></td> </tr> <tr> <td nowrap style='font-family:sans-serif;font-size:12px;font-weight:bold' align='right' width='25%'> Phone   : </td> <td width='75%'><input name='visitorphone' type='text' size="48" maxlength='30' /></td> </tr> <td nowrap style='font-family:sans-serif;font-size:12px;font-weight:bold' align='right' width='25%'> Subject   : </td> <td width='75%'><select name="attn" size="1"> <option value=" Investment Opportunities ">Investment Opportunities </option> <option value=" Vacation Rentals ">Vacation Rentals </option> <option value=" Real Estate Offerings ">Real Estate Offerings </option> <option value=" Gatherings ">Gatherings </option> <option value=" General ">General </option> </select></td> <tr> <td nowrap style= 'font-family:sans-serif;font-size:12px;font-weight:bold' align='right' width='25%'> Message   :<br /> <em>(max 5000 char)</em></td> <td width='75%'><textarea name='notes' maxlength='5000' cols="48" rows="3"></textarea></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan=2 align=center style=''><input name='save' type='submit' class="boton" value=Send mail /> &nbsp; &nbsp; <input type='reset' name='reset' value=Reset class="boton" /></td> </tr> </table></td> </tr> </table> </div> </form> Here is the mail script: <?php //the 3 variables below were changed to use the SERVER variable $ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; $httpref = $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']; $httpagent = $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']; $visitorf = $_POST['visitorf']; $visitorl = $_POST['visitorl']; $visitormail = $_POST['visitormail']; $visitorphone = $_POST['visitorphone']; $notes = $_POST['notes']; $attn = $_POST['attn']; //additional headers $headers = 'From: Me <[email protected]>' .   • Why do mozilla and webkit prepend -moz- and -webkit- to CSS3 rules?

    - by egarcia
    CSS3 rules bring lots of interesting features. Take border-radius, for example. The standard says that if you write this rule: div.rounded-corners { border-radius: 5px; } I should get a 5px border radius. But neither mozilla nor webkit implement this. However, they implement the same thing, with the same parameters, with a different name (-moz-border-radius and -webkit-border-radius, respectively). In order to satisfy as many browsers as possible, you end up with this: div.rounded-corners { border-radius: 5px; -moz-border-radius: 5px; -webkit-border-radius: 5px; } I can see two obvious disadvantages: Copy-paste code. This has obvious risks that I will not discuss here. The W3C CSS validator will not validate these rules. At the same time, I don't see any obvious advantages. I believe that the people behind mozilla and webkit are more intelligent than myself. There must be some good reasons to have things structured this way. It's just that I can't see them. So, I must ask you people: why is this?

  • How to write Java-like enums in C++ ?

    - by Rahul G
    Coming from Java background, I find C++'s enums very lame. I wanted to know how to write Java-like enums (the ones in which the enum values are objects, and can have attributes and methods) in C++. As an example, translate the following Java code (a part of it, sufficient to demonstrate the technique) to C++ : public enum Planet { MERCURY (3.303e+23, 2.4397e6), VENUS (4.869e+24, 6.0518e6), EARTH (5.976e+24, 6.37814e6), MARS (6.421e+23, 3.3972e6), JUPITER (1.9e+27, 7.1492e7), SATURN (5.688e+26, 6.0268e7), URANUS (8.686e+25, 2.5559e7), NEPTUNE (1.024e+26, 2.4746e7); private final double mass; // in kilograms private final double radius; // in meters Planet(double mass, double radius) { this.mass = mass; this.radius = radius; } private double mass() { return mass; } private double radius() { return radius; } // universal gravitational constant (m3 kg-1 s-2) public static final double G = 6.67300E-11; double surfaceGravity() { return G * mass / (radius * radius); } double surfaceWeight(double otherMass) { return otherMass * surfaceGravity(); } public static void main(String[] args) { if (args.length != 1) { System.err.println("Usage: java Planet <earth_weight>"); System.exit(-1); } double earthWeight = Double.parseDouble(args[0]); double mass = earthWeight/EARTH.surfaceGravity(); for (Planet p : Planet.values()) System.out.printf("Your weight on %s is %f%n", p, p.surfaceWeight(mass)); } } Any hep would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • Internet Explorer background-color hover problem

    - by danilo
    I have a strange Problem with table formating using IE 7. My table looks like this: In IE, when using border-collapse, the borders don't get displayed correctly. That's why I used this fix: .table-vmlist td { border-top: 1px solid black; } td.col-vm-status, tr.row-details td { border-left: 1px solid black; } td.col-vm-rdp, tr.row-details td { border-right: 1px solid black; } .table-vmlist { border-bottom: 1px solid black;} When hovering over the row, it gets highlighted with CSS: .table-vmlist tr.row-vm { background-color: #A4C3EF; } .table-vmlist tr.row-vm:hover { background-color: #91BAEF; } Now, in IE 7, when moving the mouse from the top to the bottom of the list, every row gets highlighted correctly and no problems happen. But if I move my mouse pointer from the bottom of the list to the top, every second row seems to loose the border. Can someone explain what the problem is, and how to solve it? This is my markup: <tr class="row-vm"> <td class="col-vm-status status-1"><img title="Host Down" alt="Down" src="/Technik/vm-management/img/hoststatus_1.png"></td> <td class="col-vm-name">V1-VM-1</td> <td class="col-vm-stati"> <img title="Ping" alt="Ping status" src="/Technik/vm-management/img/servicestatus_3.png"> <img title="CPU" alt="CPU status" src="/Technik/vm-management/img/servicestatus_3.png"> <img title="RAM" alt="RAM status" src="/Technik/vm-management/img/servicestatus_3.png"> <img title="C:\ Diskspace" alt="Disk space status" src="/Technik/vm-management/img/servicestatus_3.png"> </td> <td class="col-vm-owner">kus</td> <td class="col-vm-purpose">Citrix Testserver</td> <td class="col-vm-ip">-</td> <td class="col-vm-uptime">-</td> <td class="col-vm-rdp">&nbsp;</td> </tr> And the CSS: /* VM-Tabelle formatieren */ .table-vmlist { border-collapse: collapse; } .table-vmlist tr { border: 1px solid black; } .table-vmlist tr.row-header { border: none; } .table-vmlist tr.row-vm { background-color: #A4C3EF; } .table-vmlist tr.row-vm:hover { background-color: #91BAEF; } .table-vmlist th { text-align: left; } .table-vmlist td { } .table-vmlist th, table td { padding: 2px 0px; } /* Spaltenbreite der VM-Tabelle festlegen */ .table-vmlist #col-status { width: 25px; } .table-vmlist #col-stati { width: 90px; } .table-vmlist #col-owner { width: 90px; } .table-vmlist #col-ip { width: 100px; } .table-vmlist #col-uptime { width: 70px; } .table-vmlist #col-rdp { width: 25px; } .table-vmlist tr.row-details td { padding: 0px 10px; } /* Kein Rahmen um verlinkte Bilder */ a img { border-width: 0px; } /* Für Einschaltknopf Hand-Cursor anstatt normalen Pfeil anzeigen */ td.status-1 img { cursor: pointer; } img.ajax-loader { margin-left: 2px; } IE fix: .table-vmlist td { border-top: 1px solid black; } td.col-vm-status, tr.row-details td { border-left: 1px solid black; } td.col-vm-rdp, tr.row-details td { border-right: 1px solid black; } .table-vmlist { border-bottom: 1px solid black;}

    I'm having to issues lining up items properly in my html code. I am not sure why they are lining up the way I want them to. First the header My Color Library is a full line height above the horizontal ruler. I want it right above the ruler. Second my X box in the td with the background is justified right fine but I actually want it in the top right hand corner not centered vertically. Here's some example html: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>FunctionalColor&amp;Design</title> </head> <html> <body> <table style="width=900px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"> <tr> <td> <P> <div style="font-size: 1em; line-height: 1em; font-weight: bolder; padding: 0px;">My Color Library</div> <div align="right" class="removeall"> <a href="colors"> <img src="http://2100computerlane.net/workingproject/images/x-button.png" /> <bold>Remove All</bold> </a> </div> <HR/></p> <div class="mycolor"> <table><!--width="900px" --> <tr> <td style="border: none; background-color: #f8d3cf; width:125px; height:80px; border-spacing: 10px; padding:0;"> <div style="padding:0; vertical-align:top;" align="right" class="remove"> <a href="f8d3cf" style="padding: 0px;"> <img src="http://2100computerlane.net/workingproject/images/x-button.png" style="padding: 0px;"/> </a> </div> </td> <td style="border: none; width:10px;"></td> <td style="border: none; background-color: #f8d3cf; width:125px; height:80px; border-spacing: 10px; padding:0;"></td> <td style="border: none; width:10px;"></td> <td style="border: none; background-color: #f8d3cf; width:125px; height:80px; border-spacing: 10px; padding:0;"></td> <td style="border: none; width:10px;"></td> <td style="border: none; background-color: #f8d3cf; width:125px; height:80px; border-spacing: 10px; padding:0;"></td> <td style="border: none; width:10px;"></td> <td style="border: none; background-color: #f8d3cf; width:125px; height:80px; border-spacing: 10px; padding:0;"></td> <td style="border: none; width:10px;"></td> <td style="border: none; background-color: #f8d3cf; width:125px; height:80px; border-spacing: 10px; padding:0;"></td> <tr> <td style="border: none; font:.6em Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; width:125px; height:20px;">Desert Warmth<br/>70YR 56/190 A0542</td> </tr> </table> </div> </td> </tr> </table> </body> </html>

Can I solve that? I can't seem to find the solution.

  • Cutting out smaller rectangles from a larger rectangle

    - by Mauro Destro
    The world is initially a rectangle. The player can move on the world border and then "cut" the world via orthogonal paths (not oblique). When the player reaches the border again I have a list of path segments they just made. I'm trying to calculate and compare the two areas created by the path cut and select the smaller one to remove it from world. After the first iteration, the world is no longer a rectangle and player must move on border of this new shape. How can I do this? Is it possible to have a non rectangular path? How can I move the player character only on path? EDIT Here you see an example of what I'm trying to achieve: Initial screen layout. Character moves inside the world and than reaches the border again. Segment of the border present in the smaller area is deleted and last path becomes part of the world border. Character moves again inside the world. Segments of border present in the smaller area are deleted etc.

And also, when I create another StackPanel it's added to the right of my previous StackPanel instead of being added under it. What's the reason for this?

  • Converting 2D Physics to 3D.

    - by static void main
    I'm new to game physics and I am trying to adapt a simple 2D ball simulation for a 3D simulation with the Java3D library. I have this problem: Two things: 1) I noted down the values generated by the engine: X/Y are too high and minX/minY/maxY/maxX values are causing trouble. Sometimes the balls are drawing but not moving Sometimes they are going out of the panel Sometimes they're moving on little area Sometimes they just stick at one place... 2) I'm unable to select/define/set the default correct/suitable values considering the 3D graphics scaling/resolution while they are set with respect to 2D screen coordinates, that is my only problem. Please help. This is the code: public class Ball extends GameObject { private float x, y; // Ball's center (x, y) private float speedX, speedY; // Ball's speed per step in x and y private float radius; // Ball's radius // Collision detected by collision detection and response algorithm? boolean collisionDetected = false; // If collision detected, the next state of the ball. // Otherwise, meaningless. private float nextX, nextY; private float nextSpeedX, nextSpeedY; private static final float BOX_WIDTH = 640; private static final float BOX_HEIGHT = 480; /** * Constructor The velocity is specified in polar coordinates of speed and * moveAngle (for user friendliness), in Graphics coordinates with an * inverted y-axis. */ public Ball(String name1,float x, float y, float radius, float speed, float angleInDegree, Color color) { this.x = x; this.y = y; // Convert velocity from polar to rectangular x and y. this.speedX = speed * (float) Math.cos(Math.toRadians(angleInDegree)); this.speedY = speed * (float) Math.sin(Math.toRadians(angleInDegree)); this.radius = radius; } public void move() { if (collisionDetected) { // Collision detected, use the values computed. x = nextX; y = nextY; speedX = nextSpeedX; speedY = nextSpeedY; } else { // No collision, move one step and no change in speed. x += speedX; y += speedY; } collisionDetected = false; // Clear the flag for the next step } public void collideWith() { // Get the ball's bounds, offset by the radius of the ball float minX = 0.0f + radius; float minY = 0.0f + radius; float maxX = 0.0f + BOX_WIDTH - 1.0f - radius; float maxY = 0.0f + BOX_HEIGHT - 1.0f - radius; double gravAmount = 0.9811111f; double gravDir = (90 / 57.2960285258); // Try moving one full step nextX = x + speedX; nextY = y + speedY; System.out.println("In serializedBall in collision."); // If collision detected. I want that every time that I put the mouse on the box, or on the triangke they both will change ther color together. when I put the mouse on the box it works fine, but when I put the mouse on the triangle it don't work. Any suggestions how to fix this code?

  • Is it bad practice to apply class-based design to JavaScript programs?

    - by helixed
    JavaScript is a prototyped-based language, and yet it has the ability to mimic some of the features of class-based object-oriented languages. For example, JavaScript does not have a concept of public and private members, but through the magic of closures, it's still possible to provide the same functionality. Similarly, method overloading, interfaces, namespaces and abstract classes can all be added in one way or another. Lately, as I've been programming in JavaScript, I've felt like I'm trying to turn it into a class-based language instead of using it in the way it's meant to be used. It seems like I'm trying to force the language to conform to what I'm used to. The following is some JavaScript code I've written recently. It's purpose is to abstract away some of the effort involved in drawing to the HTML5 canvas element. /* Defines the Drawing namespace. */ var Drawing = {}; /* Abstract base which represents an element to be drawn on the screen. @param The graphical context in which this Node is drawn. @param position The position of the center of this Node. */ Drawing.Node = function(context, position) { return { /* The method which performs the actual drawing code for this Node. This method must be overridden in any subclasses of Node. */ draw: function() { throw Exception.MethodNotOverridden; }, /* Returns the graphical context for this Node. @return The graphical context for this Node. */ getContext: function() { return context; }, /* Returns the position of this Node. @return The position of this Node. */ getPosition: function() { return position; }, /* Sets the position of this Node. @param thePosition The position of this Node. */ setPosition: function(thePosition) { position = thePosition; } }; } /* Define the shape namespace. */ var Shape = {}; /* A circle shape implementation of Drawing.Node. @param context The graphical context in which this Circle is drawn. @param position The center of this Circle. @param radius The radius of this circle. @praram color The color of this circle. */ Shape.Circle = function(context, position, radius, color) { //check the parameters if (radius < 0) throw Exception.InvalidArgument; var node = Drawing.Node(context, position); //overload the node drawing method node.draw = function() { var context = this.getContext(); var position = this.getPosition(); context.fillStyle = color; context.beginPath(); context.arc(position.x, position.y, radius, 0, Math.PI*2, true); context.closePath(); context.fill(); } /* Returns the radius of this Circle. @return The radius of this Circle. */ node.getRadius = function() { return radius; }; /* Sets the radius of this Circle. @param theRadius The new radius of this circle. */ node.setRadius = function(theRadius) { radius = theRadius; }; /* Returns the color of this Circle. @return The color of this Circle. */ node.getColor = function() { return color; }; /* Sets the color of this Circle. @param theColor The new color of this Circle. */ node.setColor = function(theColor) { color = theColor; }; //return the node return node; }; The code works exactly like it should for a user of Shape.Circle, but it feels like it's held together with Duct Tape. Can somebody provide some insight on this?

  • How to change the X-Windows default border width for all window frames in Ubuntu using Gnome 2.28

    - by Heston T. Holtmann
    Way back from Windows 3.x days to the latest 64bit Windows 7 (classic/standard theme).. there is a way to make the window edge border wider then 1 pixel... I often use 3 to 5 pixel to make it easy to grab on hi-resolutions displays and hi DPI monitors. There doesn't seem to be an easy or obvious way to do this with the Gnome X-Windowing system? Does any one know how?

  • How do I set the rounded corner radius of a color drawable using xml?

    - by Jay Askren
    On the android website, there is a section about color drawables. Defining these drawables in xml looks like this: <resources> <drawable name="solid_red">#f00</drawable> <drawable name="solid_blue">#0000ff</drawable> <drawable name="solid_green">#f0f0</drawable> </resources> In the java api, they have thr following method to define rounded corners: setCornerRadius(float radius) Is there a way to set the rounded corners in the xml?

  • Camera for 2.5D Game

    - by me--
    I'm hoping someone can explain this to me like I'm 5, because I've been struggling with this for hours and simply cannot understand what I'm doing wrong. I've written a Camera class for my 2.5D game. The intention is to support world and screen spaces like this: The camera is the black thing on the right. The +Z axis is upwards in that image, with -Z heading downwards. As you can see, both world space and screen space have (0, 0) at their top-left. I started writing some unit tests to prove that my camera was working as expected, and that's where things started getting...strange. My tests plot coordinates in world, view, and screen spaces. Eventually I will use image comparison to assert that they are correct, but for now my test just displays the result. The render logic uses Camera.ViewMatrix to transform world space to view space, and Camera.WorldPointToScreen to transform world space to screen space. Here is an example test: [Fact] public void foo() { var camera = new Camera(new Viewport(0, 0, 250, 100)); DrawingVisual worldRender; DrawingVisual viewRender; DrawingVisual screenRender; this.Render(camera, out worldRender, out viewRender, out screenRender, new Vector3(30, 0, 0), new Vector3(30, 40, 0)); this.ShowRenders(camera, worldRender, viewRender, screenRender); } And here's what pops up when I run this test: World space looks OK, although I suspect the z axis is going into the screen instead of towards the viewer. View space has me completely baffled. I was expecting the camera to be sitting above (0, 0) and looking towards the center of the scene. Instead, the z axis seems to be the wrong way around, and the camera is positioned in the opposite corner to what I expect! I suspect screen space will be another thing altogether, but can anyone explain what I'm doing wrong in my Camera class? UPDATE I made some progress in terms of getting things to look visually as I expect, but only through intuition: not an actual understanding of what I'm doing. Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated. I realized that my view space was flipped both vertically and horizontally compared to what I expected, so I changed my view matrix to scale accordingly: this.viewMatrix = Matrix.CreateLookAt(this.location, this.target, this.up) * Matrix.CreateScale(this.zoom, this.zoom, 1) * Matrix.CreateScale(-1, -1, 1); I could combine the two CreateScale calls, but have left them separate for clarity. Again, I have no idea why this is necessary, but it fixed my view space: But now my screen space needs to be flipped vertically, so I modified my projection matrix accordingly: this.projectionMatrix = Matrix.CreatePerspectiveFieldOfView(0.7853982f, viewport.AspectRatio, 1, 2) * Matrix.CreateScale(1, -1, 1); And this results in what I was expecting from my first attempt: I have also just tried using Camera to render sprites via a SpriteBatch to make sure everything works there too, and it does. But the question remains: why do I need to do all this flipping of axes to get the space coordinates the way I expect? UPDATE 2 I've since improved my rendering logic in my test suite so that it supports geometries and so that lines get lighter the further away they are from the camera. I wanted to do this to avoid optical illusions and to further prove to myself that I'm looking at what I think I am. Here is an example: In this case, I have 3 geometries: a cube, a sphere, and a polyline on the top face of the cube. Notice how the darkening and lightening of the lines correctly identifies those portions of the geometries closer to the camera. If I remove the negative scaling I had to put in, I see: So you can see I'm still in the same boat - I still need those vertical and horizontal flips in my matrices to get things to appear correctly. In the interests of giving people a repro to play with, here is the complete code needed to generate the above. If you want to run via the test harness, just install the xunit package: Camera.cs: using Microsoft.Xna.Framework; using Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Graphics; using System.Diagnostics; public sealed class Camera { private readonly Viewport viewport; private readonly Matrix projectionMatrix; private Matrix? viewMatrix; private Vector3 location; private Vector3 target; private Vector3 up; private float zoom; public Camera(Viewport viewport) { this.viewport = viewport; // for an explanation of the negative scaling, see: http://gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/63409/ this.projectionMatrix = Matrix.CreatePerspectiveFieldOfView(0.7853982f, viewport.AspectRatio, 1, 2) * Matrix.CreateScale(1, -1, 1); // defaults this.location = new Vector3(this.viewport.Width / 2, this.viewport.Height, 100); this.target = new Vector3(this.viewport.Width / 2, this.viewport.Height / 2, 0); this.up = new Vector3(0, 0, 1); this.zoom = 1; } public Viewport Viewport { get { return this.viewport; } } public Vector3 Location { get { return this.location; } set { this.location = value; this.viewMatrix = null; } } public Vector3 Target { get { return this.target; } return this.viewMatrix.Value; } } public Vector2 WorldPointToScreen(Vector3 point) { var result = viewport.Project(point, this.ProjectionMatrix, this.ViewMatrix, Matrix.Identity); return new Vector2(result.X, result.Y);
