    Hello everyone: How can I use sphinx to search french words which the entries in the db is actually english? The situation is: I have a ROR project with a table in the db called "categories", and the category names are in english, category has many "question" entries. In localization file config/locals/fr.yml, these categories were translated to french. Consider about expandability, we can't change the category names in the db to french. User can search by type part of the key word. Here is a example: Category Name: Health and Medical In french: Santé et médecine so how can I do this: type "Santé médecine abc" in the search field and sphinx will return the "questions" under "Health and Medical" category and have keyword "abc"?

  • Odd Drag and drag bug in nested attributes Rails

    I've got this weird bug when trying to use drag and drag for two models (one nested within another). I've a category model which has many apps. In my category index page, I tried use "content_tag_for" to sort categories and apps within each category. But for some odd reason only the first element has drag, drop enabled. I can drag and drop categories all I want, but I can't drag the app in the second category, just the first category. Copy and paste gets ridiculously hopeless with HAML, so here's a Pastie instead. I made a sample app on heroku for you to check out here. Drag and drag work for both category and app, so I'm guessing it has to do something with the ul or li. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • iPhone long plist

    I have some data i want to add in to my app...about 650 categories (includes a name + id number), each with an average of 85 items (each with a name/id number). Will the iPhone support such a large plist? I want to first display the categories in a UITableView, when a category is selected I want to display all of the associated items. Having such a large plist, im not sure if the iPhone will lag when loading the items. At over 51,000 lines it seems like...it might.

    I am making a website where users can vote on which category a page is. They can vote that the page is category, for example: a, b, c, or d. Please don't ask what I am using this for, it is not important, I just want to know how to do it. I need to find the most commonly occurring category in the mysql row out of all the votes. Each time a user submits their vote, it submits the "category" that they voted for, and the "page_id". I have this so far: select page_id, category from categories group by page_id You cannot simply use a "COUNT(*) where category = 'a'" then repeat it for each category because there is many more categories in the actual project.

    Hi there, I have just created a mailchimp account and I have one question. I'm quite new to mailchimp. In my customer dashboard (of magento) i want to create a list subscribe form. Now I have a list of checkboxes that i run using a for next loop. I want to put these checkboxes in my mailchimp form and according to what the customer choices, the mailchimp list is updated. Ex. I have various categories (Apparel, furniture etc) these are set up from Magento backend and they have to be dynamic. These checkboxes are set up in a table. In Mailchimp I want to create user lists or one list with a group containing sub categories, that are created by my Magento code. I was wondering if this is possible. It works if this following line is present in my CS file: DataContext = this; But I want to avoid any programatically databinding.   • JQuery, ASCX and webmethods not seems to be working

    Hi all, I have a cascading dropdown (3 of them) Type, Categories and Sub Categories. Type loads first and upon selection of Type, Category load and selection of Category, Sub Category loads. Also i have 2 buttons, "Add Category" and "Add Sub Category" Upon clicking on these buttons, i call a JQuery Modal Form to add them. I use Webmethod in code behind to add them to database This works perfectly in ASPX page. Since I need use this in 3-4 pages, i thought of making the above as User control (ASCX). When i try to use this in a webpage, the webmethods in ASCX don't get called. Is my approach correct? what should be done for my scenario lOoking forward for your suggestions.     I know that mySQL 5.x does not support INTERSECT, but that seems to be what I need. Table A: Products (p_id) Table B: Prod_cats (cat_id) - category info (name, description, etc) Table C: prod_2cats (p_id, cat_id) - many to many prod_2cats holds the many (1 or more) categories that have been assigned to Products (A). Doing a query/filter lookup, (user interactive) and need to be able to select across multiple categories the products that meet ALL the criteria. Ex: - 80 products assigned to Category X - 50 products assigned to Category Y - but only 10 products (intersect) are assigned to BOTH cat X AND cat Y This sql works for one category: SELECT * FROM products WHERE p_show='Y' AND p_id IN ( SELECT p_id FROM prods_2cats AS PC WHERE PC.cat_id =" . $cat_id ." <-$cat_id is sanitized var passed from query form . I can't seem to find the means to say ' give me the intersect of cat A and cat B' and get back the subset (10 records, from my example) Help!

    Hello, I recently started with Magento and decided to migrate Interspire shopping cart I already made time ago to it. At first look Magento seems a very huge beast - lots of options, maybe lack of simplicity resulting in some performance loss. I've got user guide from which I am not getting much of benefit since there're just descriptions of very ordinary tasks that I could easily discover myself by poking around frontend/backend. So my first tasks are category and product export. Interspire seems to be exporting ONLY products in three available formats: Default MYOB Peachtree accounting I did some searching on Magento's product importing and found a blog post which says that I should create a few sample products with all the necessary attributes myself and then start the import. But what should I do with categories ? Is it possible to import them or instruct Magento to automatically create categories when importing product file if unknown category is encountered ? Thanks

    I am having difficulties how to construct my question, but if I have to put it simply the situation is that I have categories of products. I have an aspx with a repeater on the left that lists the categories. And I want the products to be listed on the right. Category number is variable so I made an ascx with a DataList in it. When I try to do foreach category, ascx = new ascx(); then the DataList within this ascx control is null. ps: what I want to do is to preload all the products (thre is not much) and hide the divs and fadein fadeout them using jQuery when a category div is clicked. rightnow it is using jQuery.load(); and I don't like how the images load, cuz they download from top to bottom.     Hello, I happen to have two columns having the same name as two SQL reserved words, Key and Value. When using the SELECT statement I can create a table alias and solve it that way. Now I'm trying to INSERT data and it seems like you can't create table alias in the INSERT statement. INSERT INTO attributeStrings ats (ats.ItemID,ats.Key,ats.Value) VALUES (3,'Categories','TechGUI') I get error at 'ats (ats.ItemID,ats.Key,ats.Value) VALUES (3,'Categories','TechGUI')' indicating that alias can't be created. Are there any ways to solve this without renaming the columns Key and Value?

    I'm currently working on a website in PHP, and I'm wondering what the best practices/methods are to reduce the time requests take. I've build the site in a modular way, so a page would consist of a number of modules, and each of these would need to request information. For example, I have a cart module, that (if a cart is set) will fetch the cart with the id (stored in a session variable) from the database and return its contents. I have another module that lists categories and this needs to fetch the categories from the database. My system is built with models, and each model might also make a request, for example a category model will make a request to get products in that category.

    Hi, I have some troubles defining a query. I have a Product and a Category table. A product can belong to multiple categories and vice versa so there is also a Product-Category table. Now I want to select all products that belong to a certain category. But if the user does not provide a category I want all products. I try to create a query using a join but this results in the product being selected multiple times if it belongs to multiple categories (in the case no specific category is queried).   • SQL latest/top items in category

    What is a scalable way to select latest 10 items from each category. I have a schema list this: item category updated so I want to select 10 last update items from each category. The current solution I can come up with is to query for categories first and then issue some sort of union query: query = none for cat in categories: query += select top 10 from table where category=cat order by updated I am not sure how efficient this will be for bigger databases (1 million rows). If there is a way to do this in one go - that would be nice. Any help appreciated.
