    Hi friends, I'm a newbie drupal... I'm working on my first Drupal project. I need to make an events page for some conferences. I create event content type, and creating fields like date-place-title-etc with CCK. There are also speakers, can be up to 20. each speaker has photo-namesurname-position. same speaker can be added to more than 1 event. So it is silly to create 60 fields (photo-name-position) for 20 speakers at event adding page. and expecting admin to fill all for an event adding action. there must be a way to create speakers additionally, and listing them at event adding page with checkboxes. and admin just select the speakers from the list, can be 1 or 20 speaker. how can create such thing? in what type should I create these speakers, so i can list them in event adding page for admin to select as many as he wants.   • Disable linux read and write file cache on partition

    How do i disable the linux file cache on a xfs partition (both read an write). We have a xfs partition over a hardware RAID that stores our RAW HD Video. Most of the shoots are 50-300gb each so the linux cache has a hit-rate of 0.001%. I have tryed the sync option but it still fills up the cache when copinging the files. ( about 30x over per shoot :P ) /etc/fstab: /dev/sdb1 /video xfs sync,noatime,nodiratime,logbufs=8 0 1 Im running debian lenny if it helps.

    From the documentation, I can't figure out what criteria an ISA server uses to figure out if a cached file is valid when no cache-related info is in the response header. Let's say I got this header in my response on Thu, 13 Jan 2011 18:43:35 GMT: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Thu, 13 Jan 2011 18:43:35 GMT Server: Apache/2.2.3 (Red Hat) Content-Language: en X-Powered-By: Servlet/2.5 JSP/2.1 Keep-Alive: timeout=15 Connection: Keep-Alive Transfer-Encoding: chunked Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 There's no cache directive, no last-modified field, no expires field. How will the ISA server decide for how long to cache this response?

  • Safari on Mac OS X lasts beyond Empty Cache

    So, I broke a website with some server changes oops. I roll back the changes I made, hit cmd-R, and oh noes, it is still broken. But I relax thinking, there must be something held in safari's cache so I press the handy 'Empty Cache' button. Hit cmd-R for refresh it is still broken. I'm really worried that I've done it and broken something bigtime. But first decide to check on a hand win xp computer, and voila it works. So the question is how do you "really" clear the cache w/o restart safari, I have many browser windows open a restart every time I make a server side change will ruin me. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    I'm trying to find youtube video (just watched) in Firefox cache folder, but I cant find the folder. win xp sp3 Firefox 16.1 I tried C:\Documents and Settings\eDIN\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xp44aixq.default\Cache Also C:\Documents and Settings\eDIN\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\49mvq84u.default\Cache In this folder I found the png thumbnail of visited youtube page C:\Documents and Settings\eDIN\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\49mvq84u.default\thumbnails But, there is no video file. I also searched all files and folders arround (Default user, All users...etc). There is only one win user.

  • Do Chrome and Firefox share a browser cache?

    So I was having a problem with some stuff on SO not working that was similar to this post on Meta which recommended clearing the browser cache. Now it wasn't working in both Chrome and Firefox and I had never logged in to SO on FF before today so FF couldn't have cached the file itself. Tried hitting refresh multiple times and even tried Ctrl-F5 with no luck. I cleared the browser cache in Chrome only, and after that it started working on both Chrome and FF. How could clearing the cache of one browser affect the other?

    I run windows 2012 server with data center. The setup is with 60GB of RAM. I have one file shared on VHD and when I copy this file locally the RAM cache is all used up but when multiple computers connect to the share it the cache is not used. The network is 8Gb. The whole network is around 200 computers that need to read that one file but on this setup only 10 connection kills the server. Is there any way to check what is going on? What other solution can I use to manage cache in windows?

    The cache module of nginx version 1.1.19 does not take the Vary header into account. This means that nginx will serve the same request even if the content of one of the fields specified in the Vary header has changed. In my case I only care about the Accept-Language header, all the others have been taken care of. How can I make nginx cache everything except responses that have a Vary header that contains Accept-Language?   • Usability for content editors: Drupal or PHP framework?

    Greetings: I am going to develop a basic Web site that supports some custom content types, is multilingual, and has content moderation workflow for a restricted group of content editors. This seems like an obvious choice for Drupal, except... the content editors will have little computer experience. In my opinion, that is a show-stopper for Drupal. For example, placing arbitrary inline images in content is a task that WordPress does well. I find Drupal's alternatives (IMCE, img_assist, etc.) clunky and not well integrated, and that will be a problem for this group of content editors. Also, none of the Drupal content workflow modules I tried seemed well-integrated; they all had a "tacked on" feel to them. As an admin I can understand why an "Accessible content" menu item (via Module Grants module) is necessary to view draft content (fixed in D7 but I can't wait for all the modules to be ported), but I'm pretty sure it'll confuse the content editors. An alternative is to use a PHP framework. I've read a few threads suggesting that it will take roughly the same amount of time using a good framework as it will to bend Drupal to my willing... maybe wishful thinking? I'm looking at Symfony, which gives me a basic auto-generated back-end, but which I believe I can customize to my heart's content. How do you make Drupal accessible to non-savvy content editors? If you recommend a PHP framework, which one? TIA!

    Hi there, A slug on this context is a string that its safe to use as an identifier, on urls or css. For example, if you have this string: I'd like to eat at McRunchies! Its slug would be: i-d-like-to-eat-at-mcrunchies- I want to know whether there's a standard way of building such strings on Drupal (or php functions available from drupal). More precisely, inside a Drupal theme. Context: I'm modifying a drupal theme so the html of the nodes it generates include their taxonomy terms as css classes on their containing div. Trouble is, some of those terms' names aren't valid css class names. I need to "slugify" the them. I've read that some people simply do this: str_replace(" ", "-", $term->name) This isn't really a enough for me. It doesn't replace uppercase letters with downcase, but more importantly, doesn't replace non-ascii characters (like à or é) by their ascii equivalents. Is there a function in drupal 6 (or the php libs) that provides a way to slugify a string, and can be used on a template.php file of a drupal theme?

However, I must be doing something pretty wrong here because I cannot find any solution through countless fruitless searches. Say I define and call this task namespace :weather do desc "Store weather from remote source to cache" task :cache do Rails.cache.write('weather_data', Date.today) end end I get the error Anonymous modules have no name to be referenced by Which leads me to believe the rails cache isn't available. Outputting Rails.class from the rake file gives me Module but Rails.cache.class again returns the above error. Do I need to include something here? Am I just hopeless at internet? :) Thanks in advance.

    Hello there, I use Cache in a web service method like this : var pblDataList = (List<blabla>)HttpContext.Current.Cache.Get("pblDataList"); if (pblDataList == null) { var PBLData = dc.ExecuteQuery<blabla>( @"SELECT blabla"); pblDataList = PBLData.ToList(); HttpContext.Current.Cache.Add("pblDataList", pblDataList, null, DateTime.Now.Add(new TimeSpan(0, 0, 15)), Cache.NoSlidingExpiration, CacheItemPriority.Normal, null); } I wonder is it thread safe? I mean the method is called by multiple requesters And more then one requester may hit the second line at the same time while the cache is empty. So all of these requesters will retrieve the data and add to cache. The query takes 5-8 seconds. May a surrounding lock statement around this code prevent that action? (I know multiple queries will not cause error but i want to be sure running just one query.)

    Hello, Is it possible to create a filter in a Drupal 6 View that is only applied for registered users? For one filter I need I'm using the user vote (With fivestar and votingapi) to know if they user already voted this node or not, and when the user is annonymous, is working as if all the votes from all the annonymous users where from the same. This is why I need to add this filter, but ignore it in case the user is annonymous. Thanks a lot in advance for the help!

    I'm building a Drupal theme up and want to know if there is a Drupalish way to add a css file only if the user has js turned off. This would ideally go in the theme.info file to keep it neat! Something like this would be ideal: conditional-stylesheets[if no javascript][all][] = nojs.css If this isn't possible then I'm going to keep all the css that needs JS out of the css files, and add it dynamically using JS but this seems a bit messy... Any ideas?
