• Weird behavior of std::vector

  I have a class like this: class OBJ{...}; class A { public: vector<OBJ> v; A(int SZ){v.clear(); v.reserve(SZ);} }; A *a = new A(123); OBJ something; a->v.push_back(something); This is a simplified version of my code. The problem is in debug mode it works perfect. But in release mode it crashes at "push_back" line. (with all optimization flags OFF) I debugged it in release mode and the problem is in the constructor of A. the size of the vector is something really big with dummy values and when I clear it, it doesn't change... • Using UIImageView for a flipbook anim on iphone

  I'm using UIImageView to run a flipbook anim like this: mIntroAnimFrame = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake( 0, 0, 480, 320); mIntroAnimFrame.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"frame0000.tif"]; Basically, when determine it is time, I flip the image by just calling: mIntroAnimFrame.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"frame0000.tif"]; again with the right frame. Should I be doing this differently? Are repeated calls to set the image this way possibly bogging down main memory, or does each call essentially free the previous UIImage because nothing else references it? I suspect the latter is true. Also, is there an easy way to preload the images? The anim seems to slow down at times. Should I simply load all the images into a dummy UIImage array so they are preloaded, then refer to it when I want to show it with mIntroAnimFrame.image = mPreloadedArray[i]; ?

• MS Access Force report footer to bottom of page

  I am trying to make a report for a proposal. I would like to keep a professional look and always force the terms section to the bottom of the page. I could use the page footer but I only want the terms to show on the last page. My idea is somehow with VBA to set the height of a dummy group such that it forces the report footer to the bottom. The problem is that you can't explicitly set the height of a section. Anyone else out there with another idea (That works)? :-) Thanks, Jeff

• design time usercontrols - I can't see anything!

  newbie question, please forgive... I'm developing a Wpf UserControl that will eventually be bound to a business object. The usercontrol is little more than a series of laid out TextBlocks, and perhaps (later) an image or two. As I'm laying out the usercontrol, I can put dummy text into all the TextBlocks so I can see what the usercontrol will look like, but as soon as I change the text property to contain the Binding information: <TextBlock Margin="0,12.8,42,0" Name="lblLastName" FontSize="8" Height="19" VerticalAlignment="Top" Text="{Binding Mode=OneWay, Path=LastName}"/> Then I can no longer see the textbox, or any "placeholder" text. This makes it very difficult to adjust the location and sizes of all the controls on the UserControl. In WinFormas programming, you could set binding information independently of the Text property, so you could at least see the Placeholder text during design time development. It's going to be pretty hard to visually arrange a bunch of invisible TextBlocks! What's the standard solution for this?

I tried a sample, dummy query (running it from DevServerA): SELECT TOP 1 * FROM DevServerB\2K5.master.sys.tables And I get the error: Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 2 Incorrect syntax near '\.'. However, I know my syntax is almost correct, since the other way around works (running this query from DevServerB\2K5): SELECT TOP 1 * FROM DevServerA.master.sys.tables Please help me figure out how to reference DevServerB\2K5 from DevServerA.   I'm trying to expand my sons interest from Warcraft 3 programming into C++ to broaden his horizons to a degree. We are planning on porting a little game that he wrote. The context goes something like this. There are Ships and Missiles, for which Ships will use Missiles and interact with them A Container exists which will hold 'a list' of ships. A Container exists which will hold 'a list' of planets. One can apply a function over all elements in the Container (for_each) Ships and Missles can be created/destroyed at any time New objects automatically insert themselves into the proper container. • Fill a rails form with a hashmap

  Hey, I have a difficult situation. I let the the user create a form through a Rich Text Editor and then I save this. So for example, I save this literally into my DB: http://pastebin.com/DNdeetJp (how can you post HTML here? It gets interpreted, so now I use pastebin...) On another page I wrap this in a form_tag and it gets presented as it should be. What I want to do is save this as a template and save the answers as a hashmap to my DB. This works well, but the problem is I want to recreate what checkbox/radiobutton/... is selected when the user goes back to the page. So I want to fill the form with the answers from the hashmap. Is there a way to use a 'dummy' model or something else to accomplish this? Thanks!

  I'm going to use C# to read data from a few webservices. I've done that many times before, but those times I've had direct access to the webservices from my development machine. In this project I've just been sent a .wsdl file, and a couple of .xsd files for the webservice they have in their local intranet. I've seen that I can use "Add Web Reference", and point directly to the .wsdl file, so that a C# class is created. But how can I really test it? I'd like to return some dummy data that I can visualize while I develop. Any tips for this situation?

I want to simulate click on "add another item" using jquery. which is like $('#edit-field-supp-quan-field-supp-quan-add-more').trigger('click'); but it causes whole content form to submit instead of adding extra multi value cck field. Manuall clicks are working perfectly. The problem is I don't understand how to register a driver to use this data base. It is said that I should use Class.forName("org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver") But what if that was another data base and its driver was not in a java standart package? • Nhibernate ValueType Collection as delimited string in DB

  Hi I have a legacy db that I am mapping with Nhibernate. And in several locations a list och strigs or domain objects are mapped as a delimited string in the database. Either 'string|string|string' in the value type cases and like 'domainID|domainID|domainID' in the references type cases. I know I can create a dummy property on the class and map to that fields but I would like to do it in a more clean way, like when mapping Enums as their string representation with the EnumStringType class. • MVC Entity Model not showing my table

  I have a database with multiple tables, and some basic relationships. Here is an example of the problem I am having: My Database: **Org** ID Name etc **Detail1** ID D1name **Org_Detail1** Org_ID Detail1_ID **Detail2** ID D2Name **Org_Detail2** Org_ID Detial1_ID BooleanField My problem is, the Org_detail1 table is not showing up in the entity model, but the Org_Details2 table does. I thought it may have been because the Org_Detail1 table only contains two ID fields that are both primary keys, while the Org_Details2 table contains 2 primary key ID fields as well as a boolean field. If I add a dummy field to Org_detail1 and update it, it still won't show up and wont allow me to add a new entity relating to the Org_Detail1 table. The table won't even show up in the list, but it is listed under the tables. Is there any solution to get this table to appear in my model?

If I wrap my function inside another empty container function, it gets a 3x speedup. > tic; foo(args); toc time elapsed: ~140 seconds >tic; bar(args); toc time elapsed: ~35 seconds Here's the kicker - the definition of bar(): define bar(args) foo(args) end Is there some sort of optimization that gets triggered in MATLAB for nested function calls?   So, I have a file called 'dummy' which contains the string: "There is 100% packet loss at node 1". I also have a small script that I want to use to grab the percentage from this file.   Hello everyone! I'm always really picky about memory leaks and I cannot understand why my garbage collected application leaks. My code is entirely memory-managed and it runs great without garbage collection, not a single leak. However, as soon as I turn on garbage collection it leaks! Just to prove a point, why does this leak in a garbage collected app?
