On Saturday Tomas announced the feature complete MySQL 5.6 Release Candidate that is now available for Community adoption and testing. This announcement marks the sprint to GA that should be ready for release within the next 90 days. You can get a quick summary of the key 5.6 features here or better yet download the 5.6 RC (under “Development Releases”), review what's new and try it out for yourself! There were also product related announcements around MySQL Cluster 7.3 and MySQL Enterprise Edition . This latter announcement is of particular interest if you are faced with internal and regulatory compliance requirements as it addresses and solves a pain point that is shared by most developers and DBAs; new, out of the box compliance for MySQL applications via policy-based audit logging of user and query level activity. This is mainly due to how web-based applications have evolved from nice-to-have enablers to mission-critical revenue generation and the important role MySQL plays in the new dynamic. In today’s virtual marketplace, PCI compliance guidelines ensure credit card data is secure within e-commerce apps; from a corporate standpoint, Sarbanes-Oxely, HIPAA and other regulations guard the medical, financial, public sector and other personal data centric industries. For supporting applications audit policies and controls that monitor the eyes and hands that have viewed and acted upon the most sensitive of data is most commonly implemented on the back-end database. While the supporting docs are very complete and provide working code samples, writing an audit plugin requires time and low-level expertise to develop, test, implement and maintain. To help those who don't have the time and/or expertise to develop such a plugin, Oracle now ships MySQL 5.5.28 and higher with an easy to use, out-of-the-box auditing solution; MySQL Enterprise Audit. MySQL Enterprise Audit The premise behind MySQL Enterprise Audit is simple; we wanted to provide an easy to use, policy-based auditing solution that enables you to quickly and seamlessly add compliance to their MySQL applications. MySQL Enterprise Audit meets this requirement by enabling you to: 1. Easily install the needed components. Installation requires an upgrade to MySQL 5.5.28 (Enterprise edition), which can be downloaded from the My Oracle Support portal or the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud. After installation, you simply add the following to your my.cnf file to register and enable the audit plugin: [mysqld] plugin-load=audit_log.so (keep in mind the audit_log suffix is platform dependent, so .dll on Windows, etc.) or alternatively you can load the plugin at runtime: mysql> INSTALL PLUGIN audit_log SONAME 'audit_log.so'; 2. Dynamically enable and disable the audit stream for a specific MySQL server. A new global variable called audit_log_policy allows you to dynamically enable and disable audit stream logging for a specific MySQL server. The variable parameters are described below. 3. Define audit policy based on what needs to be logged (everything, logins, queries, or nothing), by server. The new audit_log_policy variable uses the following valid, descriptively named values to enable, disable audit stream logging and to filter the audit events that are logged to the audit stream: "ALL" - enable audit stream and log all events "LOGINS" - enable audit stream and log only login events "QUERIES" - enable audit stream and log only querie events "NONE" - disable audit stream 4. Manage audit log files using basic MySQL log rotation features. A new global variable, audit_log_rotate_on_size, allows you to automate the rotation and archival of audit stream log files based on size with archived log files renamed and appended with datetime stamp when a new file is opened for logging. 5. Integrate the MySQL audit stream with MySQL, Oracle tools and other third-party solutions. The MySQL audit stream is written as XML, using UFT-8 and can be easily formatted for viewing using a standard XML parser. This enables you to leverage tools from MySQL and others to view the contents. The audit stream was also developed to meet the Oracle database audit stream specification so combined Oracle/MySQL shops can import and manage MySQL audit images using the same Oracle tools they use for their Oracle databases. So assuming a successful MySQL 5.5.28 upgrade or installation, a common set up and use case scenario might look something like this: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin-top:0in; mso-para-margin-right:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:10.0pt; mso-para-margin-left:0in; line-height:115%; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} It should be noted that MySQL Enterprise Audit was designed to be transparent at the application layer by allowing you to control the mix of log output buffering and asynchronous or synchronous disk writes to minimize the associated overhead that comes when the audit stream is enabled. The net result is that, depending on the chosen audit stream log stream options, most application users will see little to no difference in response times when the audit stream is enabled. • Adobe Coldfusion Railo OpenBD Apache Tomcat Multiple Sites

    Here's what I am trying to do, unless I am crazy: I am trying to use Tomcat with the multiple workers, so far I got OpenBD working, but having trouble with Railo, and will be tackling Adobe after. each engine deployed as a war separated by different workers I wanted to keep both the sites and engines inside my sites directory I have to remap the symlink for the WEB-INF when I switch engines = have not found a way around this my thought is to have everything separated into modules and I want to be able to execute both cfm and php code in a single site.  Ideally, it would be amazing if there would be a way to not have to remap the symlink as well. thoughts? can this be done? • Are there any Graphical PowerShell tools?

    - by Dai
    As a developer for the .NET platform, I like to "explore" a platform, framework or API by browsing through the API documentation which explains what everything is - everything is covered and when I use tools like Reflector or Object Browser then I get to know for certain what I'm working with. When I'm writing my own software I can use tools like the Object Test Bench to explore and work with my classes directly. I'm looking for something similar, but for PowerShell - and ones that avoid text-mode. PowerShell is nice, and there are a lot of cool "discoverability"-things it has, such as the "Verb-Noun" syntax, however when I'm working with Exchange Server, for example, I wanted to get a list of AD Permissions on a Receive Connector and I got this list: [PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-ADPermission "Client SVR6" -User "NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users" | fl User : NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users Identity : SVR6\Client SVR6 Deny : False AccessRights : {ExtendedRight} IsInherited : False Properties : ChildObjectTypes : InheritedObjectType : InheritanceType : All User : NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users Identity : SVR6\Client SVR6 Deny : False AccessRights : {ExtendedRight} IsInherited : False Properties : ChildObjectTypes : InheritedObjectType : InheritanceType : All User : NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users Identity : SVR6\Client SVR6 Deny : False AccessRights : {ExtendedRight} IsInherited : False Properties : ChildObjectTypes : InheritedObjectType : InheritanceType : All User : NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users Identity : SVR6\Client SVR6 Deny : False AccessRights : {ExtendedRight} IsInherited : False Properties : ChildObjectTypes : InheritedObjectType : InheritanceType : All User : NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users Identity : SVR6\Client SVR6 Deny : False AccessRights : {ExtendedRight} IsInherited : False Properties : ChildObjectTypes : InheritedObjectType : InheritanceType : All User : NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users Identity : SVR6\Client SVR6 Deny : True AccessRights : {ReadProperty} IsInherited : True Properties : {ms-Exch-Availability-User-Password} ChildObjectTypes : InheritedObjectType : ms-Exch-Availability-Address-Space InheritanceType : Descendents [PS] C:\Windows\system32> Note how the first few entries contain identical text - there's no way to tell them apart easily. But if there was a GUI presumably it would let me drill-down into the differences better. Are there any tools that do this?

  • dynamically include zipfilesets into a WAR

    - by Konstantin
    hi all - a bit of clumsy situation but for the moment we cannot migrate to more straight-forward project layout. We have a project called myServices and it has 2 source folders (yes, I know, but that's the way it is for now) - I'm trying to make build process a bit more flexible so we now have a property called artifact.names that will be parsed by generic build.xml and based on name, it will call either jar or war task, eg. myService-war will create a WAR file with the following zipfilesets included there: myService-war-classes, myService-war-web-inf, myService-war-meta-inf. I want to add a bit more flexibility, and allow having additional zipfilesets, eg. myService-war-etc-1,2 etc - so these will be picked up by the package target automatically. I cannot use "if" inside war target, and also ${ant.refid:myService-war-classes} property is not resolved, so I'm kind of stuck at the moment with my options - how do I dynamically include a zipfileset into a WAR? You can refer to fileset by id, but it MUST be defined then, eg. you can't have it optional on project level. Thank you. Some build.xml snippets: <target name="archive"> <for list="${artifact.names}" param="artifact"> <sequential> <echo>Packaging artifact @{artifact} of project ${project.name}</echo> <property name="display.@{artifact}.packaging" refid="@{artifact}.packaging" /> <echo>${display.@{artifact}.packaging}</echo> <propertyregex property="@{artifact}.archive.type" input="@{artifact}" regexp="([a-zA-Z0-9]*)(\-)([ejw]ar)" select="\3" casesensitive="false"/> <propertyregex property="@{artifact}.base.name" input="@{artifact}" regexp="([a-zA-Z0-9]*)(\-)([ejw]ar)" select="\1" casesensitive="false"/> <echo>${@{artifact}.archive.type}</echo> <if> <then> <war destfile="${jar.dir}/${@{artifact}.base.name}.war" compress="true" needxmlfile="false"> <resources refid="@{artifact}.packaging" /> <zipfileset refid="@{artifact}-classes" erroronmissingdir="false" /> <zipfileset refid="@{artifact}-meta-inf" erroronmissingdir="false" /> <zipfileset refid="@{artifact}-web-inf" erroronmissingdir="false" /> <!-- Additional zipfilesets to package --> <zipfileset refid="@{artifact}-etc-2" erroronmissingdir="false" /> <zipfileset refid="@{artifact}-etc-3" erroronmissingdir="false" /> <zipfileset refid="@{artifact}-etc-4" erroronmissingdir="false" /> <zipfileset refid="@{artifact}-etc-5" erroronmissingdir="false" /> <zipfileset refid="@{artifact}-etc-6" erroronmissingdir="false" /> <zipfileset refid="@{artifact}-etc-7" erroronmissingdir="false" /> <zipfileset refid="@{artifact}-etc-8" erroronmissingdir="false" /> <zipfileset refid="@{artifact}-etc-9" erroronmissingdir="false" /> <zipfileset refid="@{artifact}-etc-10" erroronmissingdir="false" /> </war> </then> <!-- Generic JAR packaging --> <else> <jar destfile="${jar.dir}/@{artifact}.jar" compress="true"> <resources refid="@{artifact}.packaging" /> <zipfileset refid="@{artifact}-meta-inf" erroronmissingdir="false" /> </jar> </else> </if> </sequential> </for> </target>

  • move carat to the end of a text input field AND make the end visible

    - by user322384
    I'm going insane. I have an autosuggest box where users choose a suggestion. On the next suggestion selection the value of the text input box exceeds its size. I can move the carat to the end of the input field crossbrowser, no problem. But on Chrome and Safari I cannot SEE the carat at the end. The end of the text is not visible. Is there a way to move the carat to the end of a text input field AND have the end of the field visible so that the user is not confused about where the input carat went? what I got so far: <html> <head><title>Field update test</title></head> <body> <form action="#" method="POST" name="testform"> <p>After a field is updated the carat should be at the end of the text field AND the end of the text should be visible</p> <input type="text" name="testbox" value="" size="40"> <p><a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="add_more_text();">add more text</a></p> </form> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- var count = 0; function add_more_text() { var textfield = document.testform.elements['testbox']; textfield.blur(); textfield.focus(); if (count == 0) textfield.value = ''; // clear old count++; textfield.value = (count ? textfield.value : '') + ", " + count + ": This is some sample text"; // move to the carat to the end of the field if (textfield.setSelectionRange) { textfield.setSelectionRange(textfield.value.length, textfield.value.length); } else if (textfield.createTextRange) { var range = textfield.createTextRange(); range.collapse(true); range.moveEnd('character', textfield.value.length); range.moveStart('character', textfield.value.length); range.select(); } // force carat visibility for some browsers if (document.createEvent) { // Trigger a space keypress. var e = document.createEvent('KeyboardEvent'); if (typeof(e.initKeyEvent) != 'undefined') { e.initKeyEvent('keypress', true, true, null, false, false, false, false, 0, 32); } else { e.initKeyboardEvent('keypress', true, true, null, false, false, false, false, 0, 32); } textfield.dispatchEvent(e); // Trigger a backspace keypress. e = document.createEvent('KeyboardEvent'); if (typeof(e.initKeyEvent) != 'undefined') { e.initKeyEvent('keypress', true, true, null, false, false, false, false, 8, 0); } else { e.initKeyboardEvent('keypress', true, true, null, false, false, false, false, 8, 0); } textfield.dispatchEvent(e); } } // --> </script> </body> </html> Thanks

  • ActionScript MovieClip moves to the left, but not the right

    - by Defcon
    I have a stage with a movie clip with the instance name of "mc". Currently I have a code that is suppose to move the player left and right, and when the left or right key is released, the "mc" slides a little bit. The problem I'm having is that making the "mc" move to the left works, but the exact some code used for the right doesn't. All of this code is present on the Main Stage - Frame One //Variables var mcSpeed:Number = 0;//MC's Current Speed var mcJumping:Boolean = false;//if mc is Jumping var mcFalling:Boolean = false;//if mc is Falling var mcMoving:Boolean = false;//if mc is Moving var mcSliding:Boolean = false;//if mc is sliding var mcSlide:Number = 0;//Stored for use when creating slide var mcMaxSlide:Number = 1.6;//Max Distance the object will slide. //Player Move Function p1Move = new Object(); p1Move = function (dir:String, maxSpeed:Number) { if (dir == "left" && _root.mcSpeed<maxSpeed) { _root.mcSpeed += .2; _root.mc._x -= _root.mcSpeed; } else if (dir == "right" && _root.mcSpeed<maxSpeed) { _root.mcSpeed += .2; _root.mc._x += _root.mcSpeed; } else if (dir == "left" && speed>=maxSpeed) { _root.mc._x -= _root.mcSpeed; } else if (dir == "right" && _root.mcSpeed>=maxSpeed) { _root.mc._x += _root.mcSpeed; } } //onEnterFrame for MC mc.onEnterFrame = function():Void { if (Key.isDown(Key.LEFT)) { if (_root.mcMoving == false && _root.mcSliding == false) { _root.mcMoving = true; } else if (_root.mcMoving == true && _root.mcSliding == false) { _root.p1Move("left",5); } } else if (!Key.isDown(Key.LEFT)) { if (_root.mcMoving == true && _root.mcSliding == false) { _root.mcSliding = true; } else if (_root.mcMoving == true && _root.mcSliding == true && _root.mcSlide<_root.mcMaxSlide) { _root.mcSlide += .2; this._x -= .2; } else if (_root.mcMoving == true && _root.mcSliding == true && _root.mcSlide>=_root.mcMaxSlide) { _root.mcMoving = false; _root.mcSliding = false; _root.mcSlide = 0; _root.mcSpeed = 0; } } else if (Key.isDown(Key.RIGHT)) { if (_root.mcMoving == false && _root.mcSliding == false) { _root.mcMoving = true; } else if (_root.mcMoving == true && _root.mcSliding == false) { _root.p1Move("right",5); } } else if (!Key.isDown(Key.RIGHT)) { if (_root.mcMoving == true && _root.mcSliding == false) { _root.mcSliding = true; } else if (_root.mcMoving == true && _root.mcSliding == true && _root.mcSlide<_root.mcMaxSpeed) { _root.mcSlide += .2; this._x += .2; } else if (_root.mcMoving == true && _root.mcSliding == true && _root.mcSlide>=_root.mcMax) { _root.mcMoving = false; _root.mcSliding = false; _root.mcSlide = 0; _root.mcSpeed = 0; } } }; I just don't get why when you press the left arrow its works completely fine, but when you press the right arrow it doesn't respond. It is literally the same code.

An example: 'Years in Practice' would be the first key and the attribute SPAN_COL=3 for that element indicates it would contain '< 11 years', '11-20 years', '21-30 years' (the first grouping of string.empty = Total would be skipped).

  • How can I generate XML application configuration using Zend_Tool?

    - by wimvds
    When creating a new project using zf create project myproject it will create a default project layout with an application.ini in the configs folder. Where can I change these default settings so that it generates (and uses) an XML file (application.xml)? I've looked at the documentation for Zend_Tool (http://framework.zend.com/manual/en/zend.tool.html), but there seems to be no information on how to do this. And suppose you'd like to use a different default folder layout (ie. use htdocs instead of public as your document root), is there a way to specify this as well? Any pointers to relevant information (btw I've looked at the Quickstart, nothing relevant is mentioned there unless I'm overlooking it)? edit I already tried creating a profile (stored in .zf/project/profiles), and used that to create a project (using zf create project myproject myprofile) but that doesn't change anything, even though the .zfproject.xml file in the root of the new project does contain the <applicationConfigFile type="xml"/> setting... The new project contains this (as you can see, it's just the default settings, only the type of applicationConfigFile has been changed) : <?xml version="1.0"?> <projectProfile type="default" version="1.10"> <projectDirectory> <projectProfileFile filesystemName=".zfproject.xml"/> <applicationDirectory classNamePrefix="Application_"> <apisDirectory enabled="false"/> <configsDirectory> <applicationConfigFile type="xml"/> </configsDirectory> <controllersDirectory> <controllerFile controllerName="Index"> <actionMethod actionName="index"/> </controllerFile> <controllerFile controllerName="Error"/> </controllersDirectory> <formsDirectory enabled="false"/> <layoutsDirectory enabled="false"/> <modelsDirectory/> <modulesDirectory enabled="false"/> <viewsDirectory> <viewScriptsDirectory> <viewControllerScriptsDirectory forControllerName="Index"> <viewScriptFile forActionName="index"/> </viewControllerScriptsDirectory> <viewControllerScriptsDirectory forControllerName="Error"> <viewScriptFile forActionName="error"/> </viewControllerScriptsDirectory> </viewScriptsDirectory> <viewHelpersDirectory/> <viewFiltersDirectory enabled="false"/> </viewsDirectory> <bootstrapFile filesystemName="Bootstrap.php"/> </applicationDirectory> <dataDirectory enabled="false"> <cacheDirectory enabled="false"/> <searchIndexesDirectory enabled="false"/> <localesDirectory enabled="false"/> <logsDirectory enabled="false"/> <sessionsDirectory enabled="false"/> <uploadsDirectory enabled="false"/> </dataDirectory> <docsDirectory> <file filesystemName="README.txt"/> </docsDirectory> <libraryDirectory> <zfStandardLibraryDirectory enabled="false"/> </libraryDirectory> <publicDirectory> <publicStylesheetsDirectory enabled="false"/> <publicScriptsDirectory enabled="false"/> <publicImagesDirectory enabled="false"/> <publicIndexFile filesystemName="index.php"/> <htaccessFile filesystemName=".htaccess"/> </publicDirectory> <projectProvidersDirectory enabled="false"/> <temporaryDirectory enabled="false"/> <testsDirectory> <testPHPUnitConfigFile filesystemName="phpunit.xml"/> <testApplicationDirectory> <testApplicationBootstrapFile filesystemName="bootstrap.php"/> </testApplicationDirectory> <testLibraryDirectory> <testLibraryBootstrapFile filesystemName="bootstrap.php"/> </testLibraryDirectory> </testsDirectory> </projectDirectory> </projectProfile>

  • Problems with variadic macros in C

    - by imikedaman
    Hi, I'm having a problem with optional arguments in #define statements in C, or more specifically with gcc 4.2: bool func1(bool tmp) { return false; } void func2(bool tmp, bool tmp2) {} #define CALL(func, tmp, ...) func(tmp, ##__VA_ARGS__) int main() { // this compiles CALL(func2, CALL(func1, false), false); // this fails with: Implicit declaration of function 'CALL' CALL(func2, false, CALL(func1, false)); } That's obviously a contrived example, but does show the problem. Does anyone know how I can get the optional arguments to "resolve" correctly? Additional information: If I remove the ## before _VA_ARGS_, and do something like this: bool func2(bool tmp, bool tmp2) { return false; } #define CALL(func, tmp, ...) func(tmp, __VA_ARGS__) int main() { CALL(func2, false, CALL(func2, false, false)); } That compiles, but it no longer works with zero arguments since it would resolve to func(tmp, )

  • Hibernate and mssql inner join rowcount

    I am struggling with Hibernate Criteria. My aim is to create the following request using Hibernate Criteria : select count(*) as y0_ from PInterface this_ inner join Product product2_ on this_.product_id=product2_.id where this_.product_interface_type_id=? • Convert flyout menu to respond onclick vs mouseover

    - by Scott B
    The code below creates a nifty flyout menu action on a nested list item sequence. The client has called and wants the change the default behavior in which the flyouts are triggered by mouseover, so that you have to click to trigger a flyout. Ideally, I would just like to modify this code so that you click on a small icon (plus/minus) that sits to the right of the menu item if it has child menus. • Is there a floating point value of x, for which x-x == 0 is false?

    - by Andrew Walker
    In most cases, I understand that a floating point comparison test should be implemented using over a range of values (abs(x-y) < epsilon), but does self subtraction imply that the result will be zero? // can the assertion be triggered? float x = //?; assert( x-x == 0 ) My guess is that nan/inf might be special cases, but I'm more interested in what happens for simple values.

  • Does UserId data type affect FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(UserId.ToString(), false)?

    - by FreshCode
    Does the original data type of the username string in a call to FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(...) make any difference with regards to security or code maintainability? As I understand it, the cookie is encrypted and used to identify a user on each request. I'm curious whether it should affect the design of the primary key on my Users table in my database, eg. Guid vs int or a unique username string.

  • Reverse mapping from a table to a model in SQLAlchemy

    - by Jace
    To provide an activity log in my SQLAlchemy-based app, I have a model like this: class ActivityLog(Base): __tablename__ = 'activitylog' id = Column(Integer, primary_key=True) activity_by_id = Column(Integer, ForeignKey('users.id'), nullable=False) activity_by = relation(User, primaryjoin=activity_by_id == User.id) activity_at = Column(DateTime, default=datetime.utcnow, nullable=False) activity_type = Column(SmallInteger, nullable=False) target_table = Column(Unicode(20), nullable=False) target_id = Column(Integer, nullable=False) target_title = Column(Unicode(255), nullable=False) The log contains entries for multiple tables, so I can't use ForeignKey relations. Log entries are made like this: doc = Document(name=u'mydoc', title=u'My Test Document', created_by=user, edited_by=user) session.add(doc) session.flush() # See note below log = ActivityLog(activity_by=user, activity_type=ACTIVITY_ADD, target_table=Document.__table__.name, target_id=doc.id, target_title=doc.title) session.add(log) This leaves me with three problems: I have to flush the session before my doc object gets an id. If I had used a ForeignKey column and a relation mapper, I could have simply called ActivityLog(target=doc) and let SQLAlchemy do the work. Is there any way to work around needing to flush by hand? The target_table parameter is too verbose. I suppose I could solve this with a target property setter in ActivityLog that automatically retrieves the table name and id from a given instance. Biggest of all, I'm not sure how to retrieve a model instance from the database. Given an ActivityLog instance log, calling self.session.query(log.target_table).get(log.target_id) does not work, as query() expects a model as parameter. One workaround appears to be to use polymorphism and derive all my models from a base model which ActivityLog recognises. Something like this: class Entity(Base): __tablename__ = 'entities' id = Column(Integer, primary_key=True) title = Column(Unicode(255), nullable=False) edited_at = Column(DateTime, onupdate=datetime.utcnow, nullable=False) entity_type = Column(Unicode(20), nullable=False) __mapper_args__ = {'polymorphic_on': entity_type} class Document(Entity): __tablename__ = 'documents' __mapper_args__ = {'polymorphic_identity': 'document'} body = Column(UnicodeText, nullable=False) class ActivityLog(Base): __tablename__ = 'activitylog' id = Column(Integer, primary_key=True) ... target_id = Column(Integer, ForeignKey('entities.id'), nullable=False) target = relation(Entity) If I do this, ActivityLog(...).target will give me a Document instance when it refers to a Document, but I'm not sure it's worth the overhead of having two tables for everything. Should I go ahead and do it this way?

  • True or False: Good design calls for every table to have a primary key, if nothing else, a running i

    - by Velika
    Consider a grocery store scenario (I'm making this up) where you have FACT records that represent a sale transaction, where the columns of the Fact table include SaleItemFact Table ------------------ CustomerID ProductID Price DistributorID DateOfSale Etc Etc Etc Even if there are duplicates in the table when you consider ALL the keys, I would contend that a surrogate running numeric key (i.e. identity column) should be made up, e.g., TransactionNumber of type Integer. I can see someone arguing that a Fact table might not have a unique key (though I'd invent one and waste the 4 bytes, but how about a dimension table?

  • Output from OouraFFT correct sometimes but completely false other times. Why ?

    - by Yan
    Hi I am using Ooura FFT to compute the FFT of the accelerometer data in windows of 1024 samples. The code works fine, but then for some reason it produces very strange outputs, i.e. continuous spectrum with amplitudes of the order of 10^200. Here is the code: OouraFFT *myFFT=[[OouraFFT alloc] initForSignalsOfLength:1024 NumWindows:10]; // had to allocate it UIAcceleration *tempAccel = nil; double *input=(double *)malloc(1024 * sizeof(double)); double *frequency=(double *)malloc(1024*sizeof(double)); if (input) { //NSLog(@"%d",[array count]); for (int u=0; u<[array count]; u++) { tempAccel = (UIAcceleration *)[array objectAtIndex:u]; input[u]=tempAccel.z; //NSLog(@"%g",input[u]); } } myFFT.inputData=input; // specifies input data to myFFT [myFFT calculateWelchPeriodogramWithNewSignalSegment]; // calculates FFT for (int i=0;i<myFFT.dataLength;i++) // loop to copy output of myFFT, length of spectrumData is half of input data, so copy twice { if (i<myFFT.numFrequencies) { frequency[i]=myFFT.spectrumData[i]; // } else { frequency[i]=myFFT.spectrumData[myFFT.dataLength-i]; // copy twice } } for (int i=0;i<[array count];i++) { TransformedAcceleration *NewAcceleration=[[TransformedAcceleration alloc]init]; tempAccel=(UIAcceleration*)[array objectAtIndex:i]; NewAcceleration.timestamp=tempAccel.timestamp; NewAcceleration.x=tempAccel.x; NewAcceleration.y=tempAccel.z; NewAcceleration.z=frequency[i]; [newcurrentarray addObject:NewAcceleration]; // this does not work //[self replaceAcceleration:NewAcceleration]; //[NewAcceleration release]; [NewAcceleration release]; } TransformedAcceleration *a=nil;//[[TransformedAcceleration alloc]init]; // object containing fft of x,y,z accelerations for(int i=0; i<[newcurrentarray count]; i++) { a=(TransformedAcceleration *)[newcurrentarray objectAtIndex:i]; //NSLog(@"%d,%@",i,[a printAcceleration]); fprintf(fp,[[a printAcceleration] UTF8String]); //this is going wrong somewhow } fclose(fp); [array release]; [myFFT release]; //[array removeAllObjects]; [newcurrentarray release]; free(input); free(frequency);

  • Reading JSON with Javascript/jQuery

    - by Josephine
    I'm building a game in javascript/html5 and I'm trying to build a database of locked doors in a maze that can be loaded from and overwritten to throughout gameplay. I've found a large number of tutorials online, but nothing is working. I was wondering if someone could look at what I'm trying and let me know what I'm doing wrong. My JSON file looks like this: { "doors": [ {"left":true, "right":false, "bottom":false}, {"left":false, "right":false, "bottom":false}, {"right":false, "bottom":false, "top":false}, {"left":false, "right":false, "top":false} ] } I want to build the HTML page so that when a player collides with a door it checks if its locked or not like: if (player.x < leftDoor.x + leftDoor.width && player.x + player.width > leftDoor.x && player.y < leftDoor.y + leftDoor.height && player.y + player.height > leftDoor.y) { if(doors[0].left == true) alert("door is locked"); else window.location = ( "2.html?p1="); } However I'm having trouble reading from the JSON file itself. I've tried things like: function loadJson() { $(document).ready(function() { $.getJSON('info.json', function(doors) { alert(doors[0].left); }); }); } But nothing happens, and I need to be able to access the information in the HTML as well. I'd rather use jQuery, but I'm not opposed to straight JS if it works. I've been trying to do this for ages and I'm getting absolutely no where. If someone could help that would be amazing. Thanks!
