  • Lost support for Web Access on Verizon BlackBerry World Edition

    Hello all, I believe that some silliness has occurred with my blackberry after a OS upgrade. I have 2010 Blackberry world edition phone, purchased off a friend who went iPhone, that at first worked with web on the Verizon network. When i connected it to my PC to transfer contacts, it prompted for an OS upgrade, which I performed. Post-Upgrade I have found that i can no longer access any of the web services: eg. AppWorld, Email, Twitter, Browser. And they all state that i need to upgrade my account to gain access. I had a Storm previous to this that worked fine, and at the VZ store they told me this device is no longer supported (new in 2010 though), and they got me a free "upgrade" to the Blackberry flip. What i could use help with is finding a source stating it is discontinued or a guide that will help me re-enable the web features. I can provide further info later if needed (currently at work with the flip, the WorldEdition is at home).

  • Could someone explain why my world reconstructed from depth position is incorrect?

    I am attempting to reconstruct the world position in the fragment shader from a depth texture. I pass in the 8 frustum points in world space and interpolate them across fragments and then interpolate from near to far by the depth: highp float depth = (2.0 * CameraPlanes.x) / (CameraPlanes.y + CameraPlanes.x - texture( depthTexture, textureCoord ).x * (CameraPlanes.y - CameraPlanes.x)); // Reconstruct the world position from the linear depth highp vec3 world = mix( nearWorldPos, farWorldPos, depth ); CameraPlanes.x is the near plane CameraPlanes.y is the far. Assuming that my frustum positions are correct, and my depth looks correct, why is my world position wrong? (My depth texture is of format GL_DEPTH_COMPONENT32F if that matters) Thanks! :D Update: Screenshot of world position http://imgur.com/sSlHd So you can see it looks nearly correct. However as the camera moves, the colours (positions) change, which they shouldnt. I can get this to work, if I do the following: Write this into the depth attachment in the previous pass: gl_FragDepth = gl_FragCoord.z / gl_FragCoord.w / CameraPlanes.y; and then read the depth texture like so: depth = texture( depthTexture, textureCoord ).x However this will kill the hardware z buffer optimizations.

    Hi, everyone: It's been a little over two weeks since the end of Oracle Open World 2012, and hope everyone has recovered sufficiently.  We have seen a tremendous amount of coverage on Oracle ADF Mobile during this Oracle Open World.  For starters, ADF Mobile demo booth was positioned in the Oracle Red Lounge in Moscone North, where all new and innovative technologies are being demonstrated.  The booth is liternally out front and the first booth in the area, and we had a lot of interested attendees talking to us.  It feels like ADF Mobile has finally arrived on the big stage.   • Linux - real-world hardware RAID controller tuning (scsi and cciss)

    Most of the Linux systems I manage feature hardware RAID controllers (mostly HP Smart Array). They're all running RHEL or CentOS. I'm looking for real-world tunables to help optimize performance for setups that incorporate hardware RAID controllers with SAS disks (Smart Array, Perc, LSI, etc.) and battery-backed or flash-backed cache. Assume RAID 1+0 and multiple spindles (4+ disks). I spend a considerable amount of time tuning Linux network settings for low-latency and financial trading applications. But many of those options are well-documented (changing send/receive buffers, modifying TCP window settings, etc.). What are engineers doing on the storage side? Historically, I've made changes to the I/O scheduling elevator, recently opting for the deadline and noop schedulers to improve performance within my applications. As RHEL versions have progressed, I've also noticed that the compiled-in defaults for SCSI and CCISS block devices have changed as well. This has had an impact on the recommended storage subsystem settings over time. However, it's been awhile since I've seen any clear recommendations. And I know that the OS defaults aren't optimal. For example, it seems that the default read-ahead buffer of 128kb is extremely small for a deployment on server-class hardware.   • Daisychain external USB drive to WD My Book World Edition (Blue rings)

    I recently bought a new My Book Essential 1TB (WDBACW0010HBK-NESN) to daisychain to my older My Book World Edition 500GB (blue rings) with one of the version 01.xx.xx firmwares. At first when I connected the USB drive to the MBWE, it showed up in the System Summary section of the administration page without any issue. I was able to set up a new share on the new drive. The administration website moved very, very slow though. The administration pages became nearly unresponsive during this setup process. Once the share was set up I could access the new share but again, it was very slow, now through Windows Explorer. I looked around the internet and it seems that this is caused by the USB drive being formatted with NTFS. I tried reformatting it (again, as NTFS) just to double check and the same problem occurred. I then tried FAT32 but realized it would only support files of approximately 2GB and that is not acceptable for me. I decided to try a firmware upgrade on the MBWE to version 02.00.19. The firmware upgrade completed successfully but now the MBWE does not display the USB drive in the System Summary like it did with the earlier firmware version. The USB drive works perfectly fine when connected directly to my computer. Is there a way to solve this issue?

  • Connecting WD World Book to my new laptop using downloaded win 7 driver

    HELP!!! I have just been reading through and seeing that you can connect using a USB straight to your laptop. This would be great is I actually had the cable! My problem is I have a lovely new laptop with windows 7 - I had to buy this as my old laptop isnt working anymore and I have just ordered an external sata enclosure to see whether I can get any inormation of the old drive and put onto my new laptop, so at least I don't lose any work. This in itself will probably present problems as my old OS was Windows XP! I will deal with that when i get to it!! My problem at present is that I have a World Book and I wish to connect and configure it to my new laptop but again I need to download drivers for Windows 7, which I believe I have done, but now I can't seem to work out just what to do next to help these 2 devices to recognize each other and configure. If anyone has any answers or could talk me through it I would be really grateful. Thanks - Jeanie

    I'm trying to develop a simple Android app, fixed in landscape mode. I am using Eclipse 1.3, compiling for Android SDK version 7 (OS version 2.1). When I try to run it in the emulator, it crashes on boot. (It gets as far as the unlock slider, but shortly after that when trying to launch the application itself, I get "The application Failtest (process com.wcs.failtest) has stopped unexpectedly.   • cocoa hello world screensaver

    I have been studying NSView and as such I thought I would give a shot at a screen saver. I have been able to display and image in an NSView but I can't seen to modify this example code to display a simple picture in ScreenSaverView. http://www.mactech.com/articles/mactech/Vol.20/20.06/ScreenSaversInCocoa/ BTW great tutorial that works with Snow Leopard. I would think to simply display an image I would need something that looked like this...     Hi, I use Eclipse. When I have an application like this: write 20 times 'Hello World\n' to stdout write 'ERROR\n' to stderr write 5 times 'Hello World\n' to stdout The output looks many times like this: Hello World Hello World Hello World Hello World Hello World Hello World ... Hello World Hello World Hello World ERROR Is there a way to synchronize these two output streams? Of course without waiting a few milliseconds after the block of 20 times Hello World and waiting a few milliseconds after printing ERROR.

  • Supporting Piping (A Useful Hello World)

    I am trying to write a collection of simple C++ programs that follow the basic Unix philosophy by: Make each program do one thing well. Expect the output of every program to become the input to another, as yet unknown, program. I'm having an issue trying to get the output of one to be the input of the other, and getting the output of one be the input of a separate instance of itself. Very briefly, I have a program add which takes arguments and spits out the summation. I want to be able to pipe the output to another add instance. ./add 1 2 | ./add 3 4 That should yield 6 but currently yields 10. I've encountered two problems: The cin waits for user input from the console. I don't want this, and haven't been able to find a simple example showing a the use of standard input stream without querying the user in the console. If someone knows of an example please let me know. I can't figure out how to use standard input while supporting piping. Currently, it appears it does not work. If I issue the command ./add 1 2 | ./add 3 4 it results in 7. The relevant code is below: add.cpp snippet // ...   • Real World Examples of read-write in concurrent software

    I'm looking for real world examples of needing read and write access to the same value in concurrent systems. In my opinion, many semaphores or locks are present because there's no known alternative (to the implementer,) but do you know of any patterns where mutexes seem to be a requirement? In a way I'm asking for candidates for the standard set of HARD problems for concurrent software in the real world.
