  • How can I get Haproxy to not log local requests?

    - by coneybeare
I am trying to clean out some of the log clutter from my machines and am starting by removing requests that are generated from the server themselves. I have cache warmers running around the clock and I don't want these polluting the logs. I was able to get apache to stop logging local requests by adding a dontlog for the local IP: SetEnvIf Remote_Addr "RE\.DA\.CT\.ED" dontlog CustomLog "|logger -p local3.info -t http" combined env=!dontlog and now I am looking for something similar to put in a configuration for the Haproxy log. How can I prevent 127.0.0.1 requests from writing to the Haproxy log? UPDATE: 2/15/11 I use the excellent loggly service to pull out logs in the cloud, but I am seeing tons of logs like this: 2011 Feb 15 06:09:42.000 ip-10-251-194-96 http: RE.DA.CT.ED - - [15/Feb/2011:06:09:42 -0500] "HEAD /search/Nevad/predictive/txt HTTP/1.0" 200 - "-" "Wget/1.10.2 (Red Hat modified)" 2011 Feb 15 06:09:42.000 127.0.0.1 haproxy[10390]: 127.0.0.1:58408 [15/Feb/2011:06:09:42] www i-5dd7a331.0 0/0/0/8/8 200 210 - - --NI 0/0/0 0/0 "HEAD /search/Nevad/predictive/txt HTTP/1.1" and I want them gone. This question focuses on how to remove that haproxy log line from writing to the server side log in the first place.

  • GUI interfaces to ATI card behave weirdly out of the box and after updates.

    - by jdk
My Lenovo W500 came with an ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 and both the Catalyst control center software and Vista display manager display four monitors. What's really annoying is the behaviour. My two active displays (laptop display + my external monitor) are always #s 3 and 4 respectively which doesn't make sense. This is out of the box. Additionally dragging & dropping is jumpy and displays #1 and 2 (always inactive because they don't exist to the software) are often preventing me from dragging #3 and 4 to the rightmost side. They also auto-snap to weird positions and certain sensible positions like position one directly over top of the other are not possible. The exact same annoyances are present when using the Windows Display manager too. In other words the interface is crap and I'm looking for a fix that's not wishing I had gone with nVidia instead. I've updated drivers, and Catalyst control centre. Have latest Windows and AMD/ATI updates. Any thoughts? • Large, high performance object or key/value store for HTTP serving on Linux

    - by Tommy
I have a service that serves images to end users at a very high rate using plain HTTP. The images vary between 4 and 64kbytes, and there are 1.300.000.000 of them in total. The dataset is about 30TiB in size and changes (new objects, updates, deletes) make out less than 1% of the requests. The number of requests pr. second vary from 240 to 9000 and is dispersed pretty much all over, with few objects being especially "hot". As of now, these images are files on a ext3 filesystem distributed read only across a large amount of mid range servers. This poses several problems: Using a fileysystem is very inefficient since the metadata size is large, the inode/dentry cache is volatile on linux and some daemons tend to stat()/readdir() it's way through the directory structure, which in my case becomes very expensive. Updating the dataset is very time consuming and requires remounting between set A and B. The only reasonable handling is operating on the block device for backup, copying, etc. What I would like is a deamon that: speaks HTTP (get, put, delete and perhaps update) stores data it in an efficient structure. The index should remain in memory, and considering the amount of objects, the overhead must be small. The software should be able to handle massive connections with slow (if any) time needed to ramp up. Index should be read in memory at startup. Statistics would be nice, but not mandatory. I have experimented a bit with riak, redis, mongodb, kyoto and varnish with persistent storage, but I haven't had the chance to dig in really deep yet.

  • Thousands of visits a day from untraceable traffic to website - Serious issue

    - by kel
At the end of January we noticed a spike in traffic to what JetPack stats says was home/archive page and what Google was classifying as going to /gaming/ which is an archive list in WordPress. This started off as ~3,000 unique visitors and jumped up to 65,000 unique visitors in one day, again all to the "home" page. This happened over a course of a couple of weeks and we thought we were getting attacked. The traffic then dropped off for a few days but then came back but came back as only about ~15,000 uniques a day and has been like that every day since. We came to the conclusion that something wasn't tracking right somewhere and this is legitimate traffic and brushed it off. Now here comes the problem, Google AdSense has just disabled our account for "invalid clicks". We are trying to figure out where this traffic is coming from and stop it if it's not legitimate or figure out a way to track it correctly. Specs for the site: Dedicated server running CentOS 6 with nginx, php-fpm and MySQL. The site is built in WordPress and we use CloudFlare and W3 Total Cache. Analytics being used are Google Analytics, Quantcast, Alexa and Compete. Any kind of help would be awesome. UPDATE: I'm finding more people with the same type of problem and there doesn't seem to be a solution. http://netmeg.com/bot-attack/ http://stkywll.com/2012/03/02/annoying-cyborgs-attach-distort-analytics/ After looking at the access logs I noticed they were all CloudFlare IP's. I looked into that and found out CloudFlare acts as a proxy and there was a way to fix the logs in nginx. They are coming from many different ISP's in the US. They are going to /games/ or /gaming/ (/games/ redirects to /gaming/) and all seem to have the same user agent of Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/5.0).

  • Gradle + Robolectric: Where do I put the file org.robolectric.Config.properties?

    - by Rob Hawkins
I'm trying to setup a test using Robolectric to click on a menu button in this repository. Basic Robolectric tests will run, but I'm not able to run any project-specific test using resources because it says it can't find my AndroidManifest.xml. After running ../gradlew clean check, here's the standard output from the Robolectric html file: WARNING: No manifest file found at ./AndroidManifest.xml.Falling back to the Android OS resources only. To remove this warning, annotate your test class with @Config(manifest=Config.NONE). I found these instructions which indicate I should create an org.robolectric.Config.properties file, but I'm not sure where to put it. I've tried everywhere, pretty much, and despite moving the file, the path in the error message is always the same as above (./AndroidManifest.xml). This makes me think the build process has never picked up the settings in the file org.robolectric.Config.properties. I also tried the @Config(manifest="") directive but this gave me a cannot find symbol error. If I move the AndroidManifest.xml into my project directory, then I get an error about it not being able to find the path ./res/values and I wasn't able to resolve that either. Any ideas? Update 1 Thanks Eugen, I'm now using @RunWith(RobolectricGradleTestRunner.class) instead of @RunWith(RobolectricTestRunner). Now I get a different error, still occurring on the same line of my BasicTest.java KeywordList keywordList = Robolectric.buildActivity(KeywordList.class).create().get(); Below are results from the standard error, standard output, and "failed tests" tab in the Robolectric test report: Note: I also tried substituting in a jar built from the latest Robolectric updates, robolectric-2.2-SNAPSHOT.jar, but still got an error. • Large Object Heap Fragmentation

    - by Paul Ruane
The C#/.NET application I am working on is suffering from a slow memory leak. I have used CDB with SOS to try to determine what is happening but the data does not seem to make any sense so I was hoping one of you may have experienced this before. The application is running on the 64 bit framework. It is continuously calculating and serialising data to a remote host and is hitting the Large Object Heap (LOH) a fair bit. However, most of the LOH objects I expect to be transient: once the calculation is complete and has been sent to the remote host, the memory should be freed. What I am seeing, however, is a large number of (live) object arrays interleaved with free blocks of memory, e.g., taking a random segment from the LOH: 0:000> !DumpHeap 000000005b5b1000 000000006351da10 Address MT Size ... 000000005d4f92e0 0000064280c7c970 16147872 000000005e45f880 00000000001661d0 1901752 Free 000000005e62fd38 00000642788d8ba8 1056 <-- 000000005e630158 00000000001661d0 5988848 Free 000000005ebe6348 00000642788d8ba8 1056 000000005ebe6768 00000000001661d0 6481336 Free 000000005f214d20 00000642788d8ba8 1056 000000005f215140 00000000001661d0 7346016 Free 000000005f9168a0 00000642788d8ba8 1056 000000005f916cc0 00000000001661d0 7611648 Free 00000000600591c0 00000642788d8ba8 1056 00000000600595e0 00000000001661d0 264808 Free ... Obviously I would expect this to be the case if my application were creating long-lived, large objects during each calculation. (It does do this and I accept there will be a degree of LOH fragmentation but that is not the problem here.) The problem is the very small (1056 byte) object arrays you can see in the above dump which I cannot see in code being created and which are remaining rooted somehow. Also note that CDB is not reporting the type when the heap segment is dumped: I am not sure if this is related or not. If I dump the marked (<--) object, CDB/SOS reports it fine: 0:015> !DumpObj 000000005e62fd38 Name: System.Object[] MethodTable: 00000642788d8ba8 EEClass: 00000642789d7660 Size: 1056(0x420) bytes Array: Rank 1, Number of elements 128, Type CLASS Element Type: System.Object Fields: None The elements of the object array are all strings and the strings are recognisable as from our application code. Also, I am unable to find their GC roots as the !GCRoot command hangs and never comes back (I have even tried leaving it overnight). So, I would very much appreciate it if anyone could shed any light as to why these small (<85k) object arrays are ending up on the LOH: what situations will .NET put a small object array in there? Also, does anyone happen to know of an alternative way of ascertaining the roots of these objects? Thanks in advance. Update 1 Another theory I came up with late yesterday is that these object arrays started out large but have been shrunk leaving the blocks of free memory that are evident in the memory dumps. What makes me suspicious is that the object arrays always appear to be 1056 bytes long (128 elements), 128 * 8 for the references and 32 bytes of overhead. The idea is that perhaps some unsafe code in a library or in the CLR is corrupting the number of elements field in the array header. Bit of a long shot I know... Update 2 Thanks to Brian Rasmussen (see accepted answer) the problem has been identified as fragmentation of the LOH caused by the string intern table! I wrote a quick test application to confirm this: static void Main() { const int ITERATIONS = 100000; for (int index = 0; index < ITERATIONS; ++index) { string str = "NonInterned" + index; Console.Out.WriteLine(str); } Console.Out.WriteLine("Continue."); Console.In.ReadLine(); for (int index = 0; index < ITERATIONS; ++index) { string str = string.Intern("Interned" + index); Console.Out.WriteLine(str); } Console.Out.WriteLine("Continue?"); Console.In.ReadLine(); } The application first creates and dereferences unique strings in a loop. This is just to prove that the memory does not leak in this scenario. Obviously it should not and it does not. In the second loop, unique strings are created and interned. This action roots them in the intern table. What I did not realise is how the intern table is represented. It appears it consists of a set of pages -- object arrays of 128 string elements -- that are created in the LOH. This is more evident in CDB/SOS: 0:000> .loadby sos mscorwks 0:000> !EEHeap -gc Number of GC Heaps: 1 generation 0 starts at 0x00f7a9b0 generation 1 starts at 0x00e79c3c generation 2 starts at 0x00b21000 ephemeral segment allocation context: none segment begin allocated size 00b20000 00b21000 010029bc 0x004e19bc(5118396) Large object heap starts at 0x01b21000 segment begin allocated size 01b20000 01b21000 01b8ade0 0x00069de0(433632) Total Size 0x54b79c(5552028) ------------------------------ GC Heap Size 0x54b79c(5552028) Taking a dump of the LOH segment reveals the pattern I saw in the leaking application: 0:000> !DumpHeap 01b21000 01b8ade0 ... 01b8a120 793040bc 528 01b8a330 00175e88 16 Free 01b8a340 793040bc 528 01b8a550 00175e88 16 Free 01b8a560 793040bc 528 01b8a770 00175e88 16 Free 01b8a780 793040bc 528 01b8a990 00175e88 16 Free 01b8a9a0 793040bc 528 01b8abb0 00175e88 16 Free 01b8abc0 793040bc 528 01b8add0 00175e88 16 Free total 1568 objects Statistics: MT Count TotalSize Class Name 00175e88 784 12544 Free 793040bc 784 421088 System.Object[] Total 1568 objects Note that the object array size is 528 (rather than 1056) because my workstation is 32 bit and the application server is 64 bit. The object arrays are still 128 elements long. So the moral to this story is to be very careful interning. If the string you are interning is not known to be a member of a finite set then your application will leak due to fragmentation of the LOH, at least in version 2 of the CLR. In our application's case, there is general code in the deserialisation code path that interns entity identifiers during unmarshalling: I now strongly suspect this is the culprit. However, the developer's intentions were obviously good as they wanted to make sure that if the same entity is deserialised multiple times then only one instance of the identifier string will be maintained in memory.

  • Java RMI (Server: TCP Connection Idle/Client: Unmarshalexception (EOFException))

    - by Perry Dahl Christensen
I'm trying to implement Sun Tutorials RMI application that calculates Pi. I'm having some serious problems and I cant find the solution eventhough I've been searching the entire web and several javaskilled people. I'm hoping you can put an end to my frustrations. The crazy thing is that I can run the application from the cmd on my desktop computer. Trying the exact same thing with the exact same code in the exact same directories on my laptop produces the following errors. The problem occures when I try to connect the client to the server. I don't believe that the error is due to my policyfile as I can run it on the desktop. It must be elsewhere. Have anyone tried the same and can you give me a hint as to where my problem is, please? • li element background colors and overflow scrolling

    - by user17753
    I created a simple html source, and applied a small CSS style sheet to it: html { width: 100%; } body { font-family: Calibri, Tahoma, Geneva, sans-serif; padding: 20px; } pre { padding: 0; margin: 0 auto; border: 1px solid #888; font-family: Menlo,Monaco,Consolas,monospace; color: #000; width: 80%; overflow: auto; } pre li { white-space: pre; } ol { margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0; /* IE indents via margin-left */ color: #979797; background: #E3E3E3; } .li1 { background: #F5F5F5 } .li2 { background: #eee } I have an ordered list inside a pre-formatted tag. Every other list element is either given the class attribute li1 or li2 (the purpose of which is to alternate the colors). The list elements need the white-space: pre because the white space before and after the text node is important. The pre is to be 80% of the containing element (which ends up being 80% of the window's width). In the event of overflow in the x dimension, I want scrolling. I did all this in the above CSS, and it almost works. The issue I am having is that the background colors of the list elements don't extend with the content. They seem to be capped to the original width of the pre and/or ol element as demonstrated in the following picture where I scroll all the way right as possible: I tinkered with the CSS for a while, but I cannot determine the root cause for this or the fix. Looking for some advice on this one, thanks. Complete source with the issue is as below, NOTE: to would-be editors of the below code the pre element is intended to be on a single line as it's pre-formatted text, and formatting it otherwise would change things. <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <title>Test Site</title> <style type="text/css"> html { width: 100%; } body { font-family: Calibri, Tahoma, Geneva, sans-serif; padding: 20px; } pre { padding: 0; margin: 0 auto; border: 1px solid #888; font-family: Menlo,Monaco,Consolas,monospace; color: #000; width: 80%; overflow: auto; } pre li { white-space: pre; } ol { margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0; /* IE indents via margin-left */ color: #979797; background: #E3E3E3; } .li1 { background: #F5F5F5 } .li2 { background: #eee } </style> </head> <body> <pre class="php"><ol><li class="li1">pre a &#123; text-decoration: none &#125;</li><li class="li2">pre a:hover &#123; background: #C8C8C8 }</li><li class="li1">pre li &#123; white-space: pre; &#125;</li><li class="li2">&nbsp;</li><li class="li1">.php ol &#123; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0; /* IE indents via margin-left */</li><li class="li2"> color: #979797; background: #E3E3E3; }</li><li class="li1">&nbsp;</li><li class="li2">&nbsp;</li><li class="li1">&nbsp;</li><li class="li2">.php .li1 &#123; background: #F5F5F5 }</li><li class="li1">.php .li2 &#123; background: #eee }</li><li class="li2">&nbsp;</li><li class="li1">&nbsp;</li><li class="li2">.php .st0 &#123; color: #C0C } /* string content */</li><li class="li1">.php .st_h &#123; color: #F0C } /* string content single quoted */</li><li class="li2">.php .sy0 &#123; color: #000 } /* semi-colon, operators */ </li><li class="li1">.php .br0 &#123; color: #000 } /* parens */</li><li class="li2">.php .kw2 &#123; color: #00F } /* php tags */</li><li class="li1">.php .sy1 &#123; color: #00F } /* php tags */</li><li class="li2">.php .nu0 &#123; color: #F00 } /* numbers */</li><li class="li1">.php .kw3 &#123; color: #096 } /* core language functions */</li><li class="li2">.php .re0 &#123; color: #09F; font-weight: bold; } /* variables */</li><li class="li1">.php .kw1 &#123; color: #069; font-weight: bold; } /* control statements? */</li><li class="li2">.php .kw4 &#123; color: #069; font-weight: bold; } /* bool? */</li><li class="li1">.php .co1 &#123; color: #FF8400 } /* Forward slash comments */</li></ol></pre> </body> </html>

  • Advanced CSS layout problem

Hi, I want to create a dialog with a title, borders (left, right, bottom) as well as the content. • Quartz Thread Execution Parallel or Sequential?

    - by vikas
We have a quartz based scheduler application which runs about 1000 jobs per minute which are evenly distributed across seconds of each minute i.e. about 16-17 jobs per second. Ideally, these 16-17 jobs should fire at same time, however our first statement, which simply logs the time of execution, of execute method of the job is being called very late. e.g. let us assume we have 1000 jobs scheduled per minute from 05:00 to 05:04. So, ideally the job which is scheduled at 05:03:50 should have logged the first statement of the execute method at 05:03:50, however, it is doing it at about 05:06:38. I have tracked down the time taken by the scheduled job which comes around 15-20 milliseconds. This scheduled job is fast enough because we just send a message on an ActiveMQ queue. We have specified the number of threads of quartz to be 100 and even tried with increasing it to 200 and more, but no gain. One more thing we noticed is that logs from scheduler are coming sequential after first 1 minute i.e. [Quartz_Worker_28] <Some log statement> .. .. [Quartz_Worker_29] <Some log statement> .. .. [Quartz_Worker_30] <Some log statement> .. .. So it suggesting that after some time quartz is running threads almost sequential. May be this is happening due to the time taken in notifying the job completion to persistence store (which is a separate postgres database in this case) and/or context switching. What can be the reason behind this strange behavior? EDIT: More detailed Log [06/07/12 10:08:37:192][QuartzScheduler_Worker-34][INFO] org.quartz.plugins.history.LoggingTriggerHistoryPlugin - Trigger [<trigger_name>] fired job [<job_name>] scheduled at: 06-07-2012 10:08:33.458, next scheduled at: 06-07-2012 10:34:53.000 [06/07/12 10:08:37:192][QuartzScheduler_Worker-34][INFO] <my_package>.scheduler.quartz.ScheduledLocateJob - execute begin--------- ScheduledLocateJob with key: <job_name> started at Fri Jul 06 10:08:37 EDT 2012 [06/07/12 10:08:37:192][QuartzScheduler_Worker-34][INFO] <my_package>.scheduler.quartz.ScheduledLocateJob <some log statement> [06/07/12 10:08:37:192][QuartzScheduler_Worker-34][INFO] <my_package>.scheduler.quartz.ScheduledLocateJob <some log statement> [06/07/12 10:08:37:192][QuartzScheduler_Worker-34][INFO] <my_package>.scheduler.quartz.ScheduledLocateJob <some log statement> [06/07/12 10:08:37:220][QuartzScheduler_Worker-34][INFO] <my_package>.scheduler.quartz.ScheduledLocateJob - execute end--------- ScheduledLocateJob with key: <job_name> ended at Fri Jul 06 10:08:37 EDT 2012 [06/07/12 10:08:37:220][QuartzScheduler_Worker-34][INFO] org.quartz.plugins.history.LoggingTriggerHistoryPlugin - Trigger [<trigger_name>] completed firing job [<job_name>] with resulting trigger instruction code: DO NOTHING. Next scheduled at: 06-07-2012 10:34:53.000 I am doubting on this section of the above log scheduled at: 06-07-2012 10:08:33.458, next scheduled at: 06-07-2012 10:34:53.000 because this job was scheduled for 10:04:53, but it fired at 10:08:33 and still quartz didn't consider it as misfire. Shouldn't it be a misfire?

  • jquery remove selected element and append to another

    - by KnockKnockWhosThere
    I'm trying to re-append a "removed option" to the appropriate select option menu. I have three select boxes: "Categories", "Variables", and "Target". "Categories" is a chained select, so when the user selects an option from it, the "Variables" select box is populated with options specific to the selected categories option. When the user chooses an option from the "Variables" select box, it's appended to the "Target" select box. I have a "remove selected" feature so that if a user "removes" a selected element from the "Target" select box, it's removed from "Target" and put back into the pool of "Variables" options. The problem I'm having is that it appends the option to the "Variables" items indiscriminately. That is, if the selected category is "Age" the "Variables" options all have a class of "age". But, if the removed option is an "income" item, it will display in the "Age Variables" option list. Here's the HTML markup: <select multiple="" id="categories" name="categories[]"> <option class="category" value="income">income</option> <option class="category" value="gender">gender</option> <option class="category" value="age">age</option> </select> <select multiple="multiple" id="variables" name="variables[]"> <option class="income" value="10">$90,000 - $99,999</option> <option class="income" value="11">$100,000 - $124,999</option> <option class="income" value="12">$125,000 - $149,999</option> <option class="income" value="13">Greater than $149,999</option> <option class="gender" value="14">Male</option> <option class="gender" value="15">Female</option> <option class="gender" value="16">Ungendered</option> <option class="age" value="17">Ages 18-24</option> <option class="age" value="18">Ages 25-34</option> <option class="age" value="19">Ages 35-44</option> </select> <select height="60" multiple="multiple" id="target" name="target[]"> </select> And, here's the js: /* This determines what options are display in the "Variables" select box */ var cat = $('#categories'); var el = $('#variables'); $('#categories option').click(function() { var class = $(this).val(); $('#variables option').each(function() { if($(this).hasClass(class)) { $(this).show(); } else { $(this).hide(); } }); }); /* This adds the option to the target select box if the user clicks "add" */ $('#add').click(function() { return !$('#variables option:selected').appendTo('#target'); }); /* This is the remove function in its current form, but doesn't append correctly */ $('#remove').click(function() { $('#target option:selected').each(function() { var class = $(this).attr('class'); if($('#variables option').hasClass(class)) { $(this).appendTo('#variables'); sortList('variables'); } }); });

  • SQL - date variable isn't being parsed correctly?

    - by Bill Sambrone
I am pulling a list of invoices filtered by a starting and ending date, and further filtered by type of invoice from a SQL table. When I specify a range of 2013-07-01 through 2013-09-30 I am receiving 2 invoices per company when I expect 3. When I use the built in select top 1000 query in SSMS and add my date filters, all the expected invoices appear. Here is my fancy query that I'm using that utilizing variables that are fed in: DECLARE @ReportStart datetime DECLARE @ReportStop datetime SET @ReportStart = '2013-07-01' SET @ReportStop = '2013-09-30' SELECT Entity_Company.CompanyName, Reporting_AgreementTypes.Description, Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceAmount, ISNULL(Reporting_ProductCost.ProductCost,0), (Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceAmount - ISNULL(Reporting_ProductCost.ProductCost,0)), (Reporting_AgreementTypes.Description + Entity_Company.CompanyName), Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceDate FROM Reporting_Invoices JOIN Entity_Company ON Entity_Company.ClientID = Reporting_Invoices.ClientID LEFT JOIN Reporting_ProductCost ON Reporting_ProductCost.InvoiceNumber =Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceNumber JOIN Reporting_AgreementTypes ON Reporting_AgreementTypes.AgreementTypeID = Reporting_Invoices.AgreementTypeID WHERE Reporting_Invoices.AgreementTypeID = (SELECT AgreementTypeID FROM Reporting_AgreementTypes WHERE Description = 'Resold Services') AND Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceDate >= @ReportStart AND Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceDate <= @ReportStop ORDER BY CompanyName,InvoiceDate The above only returns 2 invoices per company. When I run a much more basic query through SSMS I get 3 as expected, which looks like: SELECT TOP 1000 [InvoiceID] ,[AgreementID] ,[AgreementTypeID] ,[InvoiceDate] ,[Comment] ,[InvoiceAmount] ,[InvoiceNumber] ,[TicketID] ,Entity_Company.CompanyName FROM Reporting_Invoices JOIN Entity_Company ON Entity_Company.ClientID = Reporting_Invoices.ClientID WHERE Entity_Company.ClientID = '9' AND AgreementTypeID = (SELECT AgreementTypeID FROM Reporting_AgreementTypes WHERE Description = 'Resold Services') AND Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceDate >= '2013-07-01' AND Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceDate <= '2013-09-30' ORDER BY InvoiceDate DESC I've tried stripping down the 1st query to include only a client ID on the original invoice table, the invoice date, and nothing else. Still only get 2 invoices instead of the expected 3. I've also tried manually entering the dates instead of the @ variables, same result. I confirmed that InvoiceDate is defined as a datetime in the table. I've tried making all JOIN's a FULL JOIN to see if anything is hiding, but no change. Here is how I stripped down the original query to keep all other tables out of the mix and yet I'm still getting only 2 invoices per client ID instead of 3 (I manually entered the ID for the type filter): --DECLARE @ReportStart datetime --DECLARE @ReportStop datetime --SET @ReportStart = '2013-07-01' --SET @ReportStop = '2013-09-30' SELECT --Entity_Company.CompanyName, --Reporting_AgreementTypes.Description, Reporting_Invoices.ClientID, Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceAmount, --ISNULL(Reporting_ProductCost.ProductCost,0), --(Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceAmount - ISNULL(Reporting_ProductCost.ProductCost,0)), --(Reporting_AgreementTypes.Description + Entity_Company.CompanyName), Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceDate FROM Reporting_Invoices --JOIN Entity_Company ON Entity_Company.ClientID = Reporting_Invoices.ClientID --LEFT JOIN Reporting_ProductCost ON Reporting_ProductCost.InvoiceNumber = Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceNumber --JOIN Reporting_AgreementTypes ON Reporting_AgreementTypes.AgreementTypeID = Reporting_Invoices.AgreementTypeID WHERE Reporting_Invoices.AgreementTypeID = '22'-- (SELECT AgreementTypeID FROM Reporting_AgreementTypes WHERE Description = 'Resold Services') AND Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceDate >= '2013-07-01' AND Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceDate <= '2013-09-30' ORDER BY ClientID,InvoiceDate This strikes me as really weird as it is pretty much the same query as the SSMS generated one that returns correct results. What am I overlooking? UPDATE I've further refined my "test query" that is returning only 2 invoices per company to help troubleshoot this. Below is the query and a relevant subset of data for 1 company from the appropriate tables: SELECT Reporting_Invoices.ClientID, Reporting_AgreementTypes.Description, Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceAmount, Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceDate FROM Reporting_Invoices JOIN Reporting_AgreementTypes ON Reporting_AgreementTypes.AgreementTypeID = Reporting_Invoices.AgreementTypeID WHERE Reporting_Invoices.AgreementTypeID = (SELECT AgreementTypeID FROM Reporting_AgreementTypes WHERE Description = 'Resold Services') AND Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceDate >= '2013-07-01T00:00:00' AND Reporting_Invoices.InvoiceDate <= '2013-09-30T00:00:00' ORDER BY Reporting_Invoices.ClientID,InvoiceDate The above only returns 2 invoices. Here is the relevant table data: Relevant data from Reporting_AgreementTypes AgreementTypeID Description 22 Resold Services Relevant data from Reporting_Invoices InvoiceID ClientID AgreementID AgreementTypeID InvoiceDate 16111 9 757 22 2013-09-30 00:00:00.000 15790 9 757 22 2013-08-30 00:00:00.000 15517 9 757 22 2013-07-31 00:00:00.000 Actual results from my new modified query ClientID Description InvoiceAmount InvoiceDate 9 Resold Services 3513.79 7/31/13 00:00:00 9 Resold Services 3570.49 8/30/13 00:00:00

  • Using rounded corners in modern websites with CSS3

    - by nikolaosk
This is going to be the sixth post in a series of posts regarding HTML 5. You can find the other posts here , here, here , here and here. In this post I will provide a hands-on example on how to use rounded corners (rounded corners in CSS3) in your website. I think this is the feature that is most required in the new modern websites. Most websites look great with their lovely round panels and rounded corner tab style menus. We could achieve that effect earlier but we should resort to complex CSS rules and images. I will show you how to accomplish this great feature with the power of CSS 3.We will not use Javascript.Javascript is required for IE 7, IE 8 and the notorious IE 6. The best solution for implementing corners using CSS and Javascript without using images is Nifty corners cube. There are detailed information how to achieve this in the link I provided. This solution is tested in earlier vesrions of IE (IE 6,IE 7,IE 8) and Opera,Firefox,Safari. In order to be absolutely clear this is not (and could not be) a detailed tutorial on HTML 5. There are other great resources for that.Navigate to the excellent interactive tutorials of W3School.Another excellent resource is HTML 5 Doctor. Two very nice sites that show you what features and specifications are implemented by various browsers and their versions are http://caniuse.com/ and http://html5test.com/. At this times Chrome seems to support most of HTML 5 specifications.Another excellent way to find out if the browser supports HTML 5 and CSS 3 features is to use the Javascript lightweight library Modernizr. In this hands-on example I will be using Expression Web 4.0.This application is not a free application. You can use any HTML editor you like. You can use Visual Studio 2012 Express edition. You can download it here. Before I go on with the actual demo I will use the (http://www.caniuse.com) to see the support for web fonts from the latest versions of modern browsers. Please have a look at the picture below. We see that all the latest versions of modern browsers support this feature. We can see that even IE 9 supports this feature.  Let's move on with the actual demo. This is going to be a rather simple demo.I create a simple HTML 5 page. The markup follows and it is very easy to use and understand <!DOCTYPE html><html lang="en">  <head>    <title>HTML 5, CSS3 and JQuery</title>    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8" >    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css">       </head>  <body>      <div id="header">      <h1>Learn cutting edge technologies</h1>    </div>        <div id="main">          <h2>HTML 5</h2>                        <p id="panel1">            HTML5 is the latest version of HTML and XHTML. The HTML standard defines a single language that can be written in HTML and XML. It attempts to solve issues found in previous iterations of HTML and addresses the needs of Web Applications, an area previously not adequately covered by HTML.          </p>      </div>             </body>  </html>Then I need to write the various CSS rules that style this markup. I will name it style.css   body{        line-height: 38px;        width: 1024px;        background-color:#eee;        text-align:center;      }#panel1 { margin:auto; text-align:left; background-color:#77cdef;width:400px; height:250px; padding:15px;font-size:16px;font-family:tahoma;color:#fff;border-radius: 20px;}Have a look below to see what my page looks like in IE 10. This is possible through the border-radious property. The colored panel has all four corners rounded with the same radius. We can add a border to the rounded corner panel by adding this property declaration in the #panel1,  border:4px #000 solid; We can have even better visual effects if we specify a radius for each corner. This is the updated version of the style.css. body{        line-height: 38px;        width: 1024px;        background-color:#eee;        text-align:center;      }#panel1 { margin:auto; text-align:left; background-color:#77cdef;border:4px #000 solid;width:400px; height:250px; padding:15px;font-size:16px;font-family:tahoma;color:#fff;border-top-left-radius: 20px;border-top-right-radius: 70px;border-bottom-right-radius: 20px;border-bottom-left-radius: 70px;} This is how my page looks in Firefox 15.0.1  In this final example I will show you how to style with CSS 3 (rounded corners) a horizontal navigation menu. This is the new version of the HTML markup<!DOCTYPE html><html lang="en">  <head>    <title>HTML 5, CSS3 and JQuery</title>    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8" >    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css">       </head>  <body>      <div id="header">      <h1>Learn cutting edge technologies</h1>    </div>        <div id="nav"><ul><li><a class="mymenu" id="activelink" href="http://weblogs.asp.net/controlpanel/blogs/posteditor.aspx?SelectedNavItem=Posts§ionid=1153&postid=8934038#">Main</a></li><li><a class="mymenu" href="http://weblogs.asp.net/controlpanel/blogs/posteditor.aspx?SelectedNavItem=Posts§ionid=1153&postid=8934038#">HTML 5</a></li><li><a class="mymenu" href="http://weblogs.asp.net/controlpanel/blogs/posteditor.aspx?SelectedNavItem=Posts§ionid=1153&postid=8934038#">CSS 3</a></li><li><a class="mymenu" href="http://weblogs.asp.net/controlpanel/blogs/posteditor.aspx?SelectedNavItem=Posts§ionid=1153&postid=8934038#">JQuery</a></li></ul></div>        <div id="main">          <h2>HTML 5</h2>                        <p id="panel1">            HTML5 is the latest version of HTML and XHTML. The HTML standard defines a single language that can be written in HTML and XML. • Regular expression works normally, but fails when placed in an XML schema

I have a simple doc.xml file which contains a single root element with a Timestamp attribute: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <root Timestamp="04-21-2010 16:00:19.000" /> I'd like to validate this document against a my simple schema.xsd to make sure that the Timestamp is in the correct format: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xs:schema attributeFormDefault="unqualified" elementFormDefault="qualified" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <xs:element name="root"> <xs:complexType> <xs:attribute name="Timestamp" use="required" type="timeStampType"/> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> <xs:simpleType name="timeStampType"> <xs:restriction base="xs:string"> <xs:pattern value="(0[0-9]{1})|(1[0-2]{1})-(3[0-1]{1}|[0-2]{1}[0-9]{1})-[2-9]{1}[0-9]{3} ([0-1]{1}[0-9]{1}|2[0-3]{1}):[0-5]{1}[0-9]{1}:[0-5]{1}[0-9]{1}.[0-9]{3}" /> </xs:restriction> </xs:simpleType> </xs:schema> So I use the lxml Python module and try to perform a simple schema validation and report any errors: from lxml import etree schema = etree.XMLSchema( etree.parse("schema.xsd") ) doc = etree.parse("doc.xml") if not schema.validate(doc): for e in schema.error_log: print e.message My XML document fails validation with the following error messages: Element 'root', attribute 'Timestamp': [facet 'pattern'] The value '04-21-2010 16:00:19.000' is not accepted by the pattern '(0[0-9]{1})|(1[0-2]{1})-(3[0-1]{1}|[0-2]{1}[0-9]{1})-[2-9]{1}[0-9]{3} ([0-1]{1}[0-9]{1}|2[0-3]{1}):[0-5]{1}[0-9]{1}:[0-5]{1}[0-9]{1}.[0-9]{3}'. Element 'root', attribute 'Timestamp': '04-21-2010 16:00:19.000' is not a valid value of the atomic type 'timeStampType'. So it looks like my regular expression must be faulty. But when I try to validate the regular expression at the command line, it passes: >>> import re >>> pat = '(0[0-9]{1})|(1[0-2]{1})-(3[0-1]{1}|[0-2]{1}[0-9]{1})-[2-9]{1}[0-9]{3} ([0-1]{1}[0-9]{1}|2[0-3]{1}):[0-5]{1}[0-9]{1}:[0-5]{1}[0-9]{1}.[0-9]{3}' >>> assert re.match(pat, '04-21-2010 16:00:19.000') >>> I'm aware that XSD regular expressions don't have every feature, but the documentation I've found indicates that every feature that I'm using should work. So what am I mis-understanding, and why does my document fail?

  • SQLAuthority News – Public Training Classes In Hyderabad 12-14 May – Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008

    - by pinaldave
After successfully delivering many corporate trainings as well as the private training Solid Quality Mentors, India is launching the Public Training in Hyderabad for SQL Server 2008 and SharePoint 2010. This is going to be one of the most unique and one-of-a-kind events in India where Solid Quality Mentors are offering public classes. I will be leading the training on Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 Query Optimization & Performance Tuning. This intensive, 3-day course intends to give attendees an in-depth look at Query Optimization and Performance Tuning in SQL Server 2005 and 2008. Designed to prepare SQL Server developers and administrators for a transition into SQL Server 2005 or 2008, the course covers the best practices for a variety of essential tasks in order to maximize the performance. At the end of the course, there would be daily discussions about your real-world problems and find appropriate solutions. Note: Scroll down for course fees, discount, dates and location. Do not forget to take advantage of Discount code ‘SQLAuthority‘. The training premises are very well-equipped as they will be having 1:1 computers. Every participant will be provided with printed course materials. I will pick up your entire lunch tab and we will have lots of SQL talk together. The best participant will receive a special gift at the end of the course. Even though the quality of the material to be delivered together with the course will be of extremely high standard, the course fees are set at a very moderate rate. The fee for the course is INR 14,000/person for the whole 3-day convention. At the rate of 1 USD = 44 INR, this fee converts to less than USD 300. At this rate, it is totally possible to fly from anywhere from the world to India and take the training and still save handsome pocket money. It would be even better if you register using the discount code “SQLAuthority“, for you will instantly get an INR 3000 discount, reducing the total cost of the training to INR 11,000/person for whole 3 days course. This is a onetime offer and will not be available in the future. Please note that there will be a 10.3% service tax on course fees. To register, either send an email to [email protected] or call +91 95940 43399. Feel free to drop me an email at [email protected] for any additional information and clarification. Dear partner I am delighted to announce the 2013 edition of the Exadata, Exalogic and Manageability Partner Community Forum for EMEA partners which will take place in Vienna, Austria, on April 23-24, 2013. After the experience of last year where we ran a joint Exadata and Manageability event, we received requests from many of you to add also Exalogic to the scope of the forum, and this way to cover the complete infrastructure architecture on the Exa platform. The continued market adoption of Exadata and Exalogic is being paralleled by a growth in the rate of projects sold and implemented by partners. Sharing customer cases and best-practices presented by other partners constitutes the core of this event. If you want to present an experience of your company around Exadata, Exalogic or Manageability that can be a learning experience for other partners, we still have some slots in the agenda. (Please contact Javier Puerta if you want to present.) Attending the Community Forum you will also have the opportunity to get Oracle’s insight on new products and market trends. And, of course, interact with the Oracle executives responsible for the Exadata, Exalogic and Manageability business. The atmosphere of beautiful Vienna will be the scenario of the event. Detailed venue and hotel booking information will be sent to you in January. Don't miss out on attending this key event! • Internet Explorer and margins

    - by Hailwood
    Hi there. I have some pretty simple html which is meant to make a layout as below. To push the tabs down from the userbar I am using margin-top: 35px; However in internet explorer the tabs are completly misaligned(the top of the tabs is where the bottom should be). So I need to use margin-top: -50px; for internet explorer. Why is this and how can I fix it without using a ie specific stylesheet <div id="pageHead"> <div id="userBar"> <span class="bold">Hi Matthew Hailwood | <a href="#">Logout</a> </div> <a href="http://localhost/buzz/" id="pageLogo"></a> <div id="pageTabs" class="clearfix"> <ul> <li><a href="http://localhost/buzzil/templates">Templates</a></li> <li><a href="http://localhost/buzzil/messaging">Messaging</a></li> <li><a href="http://localhost/buzzil/contacts">Contacts</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> With the css being #pageHead { height: 100px; } #pageLogo { float: left; width: 149px; height: 77px; margin-top: 11px; background: transparent url('../images/logo.png') no-repeat; } #userBar { text-align: right; color: #fff; margin-top: 10px; } #userBar a:link, #userBar a:visited, #userBar a:active { font-weight: normal; color: #E0B343; text-decoration: none; } .clearfix:after { content: "."; display: block; clear: both; visibility: hidden; line-height: 0; height: 0; } .clearfix { display: inline-block; } html[xmlns] .clearfix { display: block; } * html .clearfix { height: 1%; } #pageTabs { float: right; margin-top: 35px; } #pageTabs ul { position: relative; width: 100%; list-style: none; margin: 0; padding: 0; border-left: 1px solid #000; } #pageTabs ul li { float: right; background: url(../images/tabsBg.png) no-repeat 0% 0%; border-left: 1px solid #000; margin-left: -1px; } #pageTabs ul li a:link, #pageTabs ul li a:visited, #pageTabs ul li a:active { color: #fff; background: url(../images/tabsBg.png) no-repeat 100% 0%; display: block; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 42px; text-transform: uppercase; padding: 4px 32px; text-decoration: none; } #pageTabs ul li a:hover, #pageTabs ul li a:focus { text-decoration: underline; }

  • Mixed surrogate composite key insert in JPA 2.0, PostgreSQL and Hibernate 3.5

    - by Gerald
First off, we are using JPA 2.0 and Hibernate 3.5 as persistence provider on a PostgreSQL database. We successfully use the sequence of the database via the JPA 2.0 annotations as an auto-generated value for single-field-surrogate-keys and all works fine. Now we are implementing a bi-temporal database-scheme that requires a mixed key in the following manner: Table 1: id (pk, integer, auto-generated-sequence) validTimeBegin (pk, dateTime) validTimeEnd (dateTime) firstName (varChar) Now we have a problem. You see, if we INSERT a new element, the field id is auto-generated and that's fine. Only, if we want to UPDATE the field within this scheme, then we have to change the validTimeBegin column WITHOUT changing the id-field and insert it as a new row like so: BEFORE THE UPDATE OF THE ROW: |---|-------------------------|-------------------------|-------------------| | id| validTimeBegin | validTimeEnd | firstName | |---|-------------------------|-------------------------|-------------------| | 1| 2010-05-01-10:00:00.000 | NULL | Gerald | |---|-------------------------|-------------------------|-------------------| AFTER THE UPDATE OF THE ROW happening at exactly 2010-05-01-10:35:01.788 server-time: (we update the person with the id:1 to reflect his new first name...) |---|-------------------------|-------------------------|-------------------| | id| validTimeBegin | validTimeEnd | firstName | |---|-------------------------|-------------------------|-------------------| | 1| 2010-05-01-10:00:00.000 | 2010-05-01-10:35:01.788 | Gerald | |---|-------------------------|-------------------------|-------------------| | 1| 2010-05-01-10:35:01.788 | NULL | Jerry | |---|-------------------------|-------------------------|-------------------| So our problem is, that this doesn't work at all using an auto-generated-sequence for the field id because when inserting a new row then the id ALWAYS is auto-generated although it really is part of a composite key which should sometimes behave differently. So my question is: Is there a way to tell hibernate via JPA to stop auto-generating the id-field in the case I want to generate a new variety of the same person and go on as usual in every other case or do I have to take over the whole id-generation with custom code? Thanks in advance, Gerald

  • What is wrong with this solution? (Perm-Missing-Elem codility test)

    - by user2956907
I have started playing with codility and came across this problem: A zero-indexed array A consisting of N different integers is given. The array contains integers in the range [1..(N + 1)], which means that exactly one element is missing. Your goal is to find that missing element. Write a function: int solution(int A[], int N); that, given a zero-indexed array A, returns the value of the missing element. For example, given array A such that: A[0] = 2 A[1] = 3 A[2] = 1 A[3] = 5 the function should return 4, as it is the missing element. Assume that: N is an integer within the range [0..100,000]; the elements of A are all distinct; each element of array A is an integer within the range [1..(N + 1)]. Complexity: expected worst-case time complexity is O(N); expected worst-case space complexity is O(1), beyond input storage (not counting the storage required for input arguments). I have submitted the following solution (in PHP): function solution($A) { $nr = count($A); $totalSum = (($nr+1)*($nr+2))/2; $arrSum = array_sum($A); return ($totalSum-$arrSum); } which gave me a score of 66 of 100, because it was failing the test involving large arrays: "large_range range sequence, length = ~100,000" with the result: RUNTIME ERROR tested program terminated unexpectedly stdout: Invalid result type, int expected. I tested locally with an array of 100.000 elements, and it worked without any problems. So, what seems to be the problem with my code and what kind of test cases did codility use to return "Invalid result type, int expected"?

  • How to get the millisecond value from a Timestamp field in firebird with Delphi 2007

    - by Re0sless
I have a Firebird database (running on server version 2.1.3) and am connecting to it with Delphi 2007 using the DBExpress objects (using the Interbase driver) One of my tables in the database looks something like this CREATE TABLE MYTABLE ( MYDATE Timestamp NOT NULL, MYINDEX Integer NOT NULL, ... Snip ... PRIMARY KEY (MYDATE ,MYINDEX) ); I can add to the table OK, and in Flame Robin it shows the timestamp field as having a millisecond value. But when I do a select all (select * from MYTABLE) on the table I can not get the millisecond value, as it is always returned as 000. This causes major problems as it is part of the primary key (unfortunately I didn't design the table and don't have authority to change it). I have tried the following to get the millisecond value: sql1.fieldbyname('MYDATE').AsDateTime; sql1.fieldbyname('MYDATE').AsSQLTimeStamp; sql1.fieldbyname('MYDATE').AsStirng; sql1.fieldbyname('MYDATE').AsFloat; But they all return 14/09/2009 14:25:06.000 when formatted. How do I retrieve the millisecond from a timestamp? UPDATE: In case this helps anyone in the future, here are the drivers I tried for DBExpress and the results. Embarcadero - dbExpress Driver for Firebird (Delphi 2010 Trial Version) - Milliseconds not supported in timestamps. Chau Chee Yang's - dbExpress Driver for Firebird (Delphi 2007) - Milliseconds not supported in timestamps. UpScene - InterXpress for Firebird (Delphi 2007) - Milliseconds are supported in timestamps. DevArt - dbExpress Driver for InterBase (Delphi 2007) - Milliseconds are supported in timestamps.

    - by Thomas
The goal is to have an applet run from a jar file. The problem is that the applet only seems to want to run from an exploded jar file. Samples on the Internet suggest this applet tag: <applet code="com.blabla.MainApplet" archive="applet.jar" width="600" height="600"> This will not even try to look in the jar file and fails with: Caused by: java.io.IOException: open HTTP connection failed:http://localhost:8080/helloWord/com/blabbla/MainApplet.class at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader.getBytes(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader.access$000(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) ... 7 more Setting the codebase instead of the archive attribute to the jar file. Looks a bit better. However, the JVM does not realize that it has to open the jar file: <applet code="com.blabla.MainApplet" codebase="applet.jar" width="600" height="600"> Caused by: java.io.IOException: open HTTP connection failed:http://localhost:8080/helloWord/applet.jar/com/blabbla/MainApplet.class at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader.getBytes(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader.access$000(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) ... 7 more How does the applet tag have to be formulated to start an applet class from inside of a jar file?
