  Hi all, I am having fifty workstations which are connected to a windows server 2003 server and the internet is shared from the server .My question is , am i able to implement a tracking mechanism without using any proxy server and track all the web pages which ever visited by an individual workstation connected to a network?If possible how to achieve that kind of tracking mechanism?Some workstations do open their web pages in InPrivate browsing , can we access those browsing history?

• Spam prevention through IP tracking

  I am building a website with user generated comments. In order to implement user moderation/spam-protection, users have the ability to mark comments as spam. When one comment is marked as spam, I want all comments from the same IP address to be deleted. I am not familiar with spam prevention in general, other than Captcha. • How can I merge two SubVersion branches to one working copy without committing?

  My current SubVersion workflow is like so: The trunk is used to make small content changes and bug fixes to the main source code. Branches are used for adding/editing enhancements and projects. So, trunk changes are made, tested, committed and deployed pretty quickly. Whereas, enhancements and projects need additional user testing and approval. At time, I have two branches that need testing and approval at the same time. I don't want to merge to the trunk and commit until the changes are fully tested and approved. What I need to do is merge both branches to one working copy without any commits. I am using Tortoise SVN, and when I try to merge the second branch, I get an error message: Cannot merge into a working copy that has local modifications Is there a way that I can do this without committing either merge?

  I have a new site that has multiple top-level domains and subdomains all going to it: www.domain.com, campaign.domain.com, chicago.domain.com, domain2.com - all go to the same site/site directory. Right now I have one Google Analytics account profile set up for it, but I want to be able to track the traffic that is hitting those different URLs separately. The domains are being routed on the server-side (not .htaccess). How can I do this in Google Analytics? Do I need to create filters? Or create different profiles for each domain?

  I am in trouble. I placed and advertisement on a website in 2012. The website said they got 950,000 unique visits each month. Early in 2012 I advertised with them. The advertisement didn't worked out. I checked in 2-3 months time and I saw that the unique visitors on the site was 8,000 at that time. I immediately closed the account. I don't remember which site I used to check the unique visitors. The advertising company has filed a dispute against me. So is there any tool that can show me the 2012 stats for any website? I tried Google Trends but it doesn't show statistics.

  First off, sorry if this is the wrong 'stack' site, but it seemed like a good place to start. I'm happy to report that my services as a web developer are starting to be in quite a lot of demand, and I have a few existing and potentially new customers all lining up - but I'm finding it very hard to keep track of everything. What I'm hoping for is some (preferably web-based) system which I can use to keep track of who my customers are, the various projects that I've got going on for them, and (if possible) the individual sub-tasks that make up each project. What would be even better is if the relevant customer was able to log into the site, and see the process of their projects. I do hope you know what I'm talking about, and that you'll be able to offer some suggestions of either web-base sites that offer something along these lines, or of some open source solution or something like that? • Tracking state of a one time event on a big website

  Assume a website with 250 million active users. I add a new feature to the website. Once a user visits I want to use a short tutorial to teach them how to use said feature. I only want them to complete the tutorial once (or actively click it away). What is the smart way to code the verification check for this? How do I track the progress in the database? Having a separate table with like NewTutorial_completed = 1 for user_id = 21312315 would just snowball. It also feels intuitively bad to check for every one-time event for every user on every page view. While writing the question I got one idea, to have a separate event log that is checked periodically for any new action the user need to see or perform. I push events to this log and once they are completed they are removed from the log. No need to store NewTutorial_completed = 1-type variables this way. I am sure this is a common problem. I would appreciate any input on what best practice is.

• Merge two different API calls into One

  I have two different apps in my django project. One is "comment" and an other one is "files". A comment might save some file attached to it. The current way of creating a comment with attachments is by making two API calls. First one creates an actual comment and replies with the comment ID which serves as foreign key for the Files. Then for each file, a new request is made with the comment ID. Please note that file is a generic app, that can be used with other apps too. What is the cleanest way of making this into one API call? I want to have this as a single API call because I am in a situation where I need to send user an email with all the files as attachment when a comment is made. I know Queueing is the ideal way to do it. But I don't have the liberty to add queing to our stack now. So this was the only way I could think of.

• Merge home directory after fresh installation with existing (Gentoo) home

  I reinstalled my desktop machine with Ubuntu 10.10., coming from Gentoo where I used XFCE. My home is usually NFS-mounted from a server. During the install I let the installer set up my user, but of course my NFS-home wasn't mounted then; I have a regular /home/user now. If I mv /home /home.old and mount my NFS-home to /home instead, I cannot login because Gnome complains about some config-files (sorry, no exact error message as there is no way to copy&paste this). Which of my /home.old/user directories do I have to copy over to my NFS-home so that Gnome is happy again?
