  this might be strange for some people to hear, but I want to buy Samsung Chronos notebook and install Ubuntu alongside with Windows. And I want to know if there could be any trouble with hardware? I mean if all the ports should work fine, keyboard special buttons, lights on keyboard, this fast boot technology (wake from hibernation in few seconds), etc. Thank you for attention and forgive me if this question sounds weird for some of you.

• Shrinking windows and recovery partitions on the samsung new series 9

  I just bought a samsung NP900X3C, and as I was going to install linux, I noticed the windows partitions and recovery partitions occupied a major portion of the disk. The disk is a 128 GB SSD, and I want to keep the windows partition in order to play some games once in a while, but the windows disk is already 45GB full (with no installed programs) and the recovery partition is 20GB. That leaves under 60 GB for linux, which is not optimal, since that is what I'm going to be using most of the time, and there would be no room for games on the windows partition. There are also two small partitions that I don't know what are doing, one 100mb at the start of the disk that I'm guessing is some kind of boot partition, and one 5GB, that is described as an OS/2 hidden C: drive What I'm wondering is: can i delete the recovery partition? What about the mystical 5gb partition?   I would like to create a non-VBA based solution to the following question: How do I create a multi-series chart that will allow a user to select from a dropdown to change the data being graphed? I can do this already when the data series is contiguous; however, I'd like to be able to do it for non-contiguous data. Is this possible? • Design suggestion for expression tree evaluation with time-series data

  I have a (C#) genetic program that uses financial time-series data and it's currently working but I want to re-design the architecture to be more robust. My main goals are: sequentially present the time-series data to the expression trees. allow expression trees to access previous data rows when needed. to optimize performance of the data access while evaluating the expression trees. keep a common interface so various types of data can be used. Here are the possible approaches I've thought about: I can evaluate the expression tree by passing in a data row into the root node and let each child node use the same data row. I can evaluate the expression tree by passing in the data row index and letting each node get the data row from a shared DataSet (currently I'm passing the row index and going to multiple synchronized arrays to get the data). Hybrid: an immutable data set is accessible by all of the expression trees and each expression tree is evaluated by passing in a data row. The benefit of the first approach is that the data row is being passed into the expression tree and there is no further query done on the data set (which should increase performance in a multithreaded environment). The drawback is that the expression tree does not have access to the rest of the data (in case some of the functions need to do calculations using previous data rows). The benefit of the second approach is that the expression trees can access any data up to the latest data row, but unless I specify what that row is, I'll have to iterate through the rows and figure out which one is the last one. The benefit of the hybrid is that it should generally perform better and still provide access to the earlier data. It supports two basic "views" of data: the latest row and the previous rows. Do you guys know of any design patterns or do you have any tips that can help me build this type of system? Should I use a DataSet to hold and present the data, or are there more efficient ways to present rows of data while maintaining a simple interface? FYI: All of my code is written in C#.

After stepping through my code and watching the changes, I see that my seriesstroke does in fact change to "dashedStroke" when it is supposed to (after a certain date "dai"), but when the chart is rendered the entire series line is dashed. • Kubuntu 12.04 - Touchpad and keyboard stopped working at random

  As in the title, I've got this problem with my Kubuntu 12.04. At first I've thought that the whole system was hung, but it happened again 5 minutes ago and, while the keyboard and the touchpad stopped working, the music was still playing, so I guess that's just an "input" problem, because the system was still working! Any solution? Is there some data that you need to know about my setup?   Where Have All the Composites Gone? I was just asked to help out with an interesting problem at a customer.  All their composites had disappeared from the EM console, none of them showed as loading in the log files and there was an ominous error message in the logs. Symptoms After a server restart the customer noticed that none of his composites were available, they didn’t show in the EM console and in the log files they saw this error message: SEVERE: WLSFabricKernelInitializer.getCompositeList Error during parsing and processing of deployed-composites.xml file This indicates some sort of problem when parsing the deployed-composites.xml file.  This is very bad because the deployed-composites.xml file is basically the table of contents that tells SOA Infrastructure what composites to load and where to find them in MDS.  If you can’t read this file you can’t load any composites and your SOA Server now has all the utility of a chocolate teapot. Having found the problem I now needed to fix it. Fixing the Problem The solution was really quite easy.  First for safeties sake I took a backup of the exported MDS partition.  I then edited the deployed-composites/deployed-composites.xml file to remove the offending <composite-series> tag. Finally I restarted the SOA domain and was rewarded by seeing that the deployed composites were now visible. Summary One possible cause of not being able to see deployed composites after a SOA 11g system restart is a corrupt deployed-composites.xml file.  Retrieving this file from MDS, repairing it, and replacing it back into MDS can solve the problem.  This still leaves the problem of how did this file become corrupt!

My goal is to automate the input and output with a php script. I know how to capture the output in an array by writing: $out = array(); exec("my/path/program",$out); But how do I handle the input? Assume the program asks 3 questions and valid answers are: left 120 n What is the easiest way using php to pass that input to the program? Can I do it somehow on the exec line? I’m not a php noob but simply have never needed to do this before. Alas, my googling is going in circles.

  Is it possible to use Symbol MC70 series scanner with native code? I have a Windows Mobile application written using Lazarus(Object pascal) and I want to use it with Symbol MC70. The sdk that they have are for C, .NET and Java. I had a look at the C sdk and it comes with .LIB files which I cannot use with Object Pascal. I have no clue as to how the scanner is working with .NET stuff, I could not see a WIN32 dll in the files provided, maybe it is in the cab file. I want to find the most common phrases in these entries (not the single most common phrase, and ideally, not enforcing word-for-word matching). Am I correct in this feeling?

  What's the best heuristic I can use to identify whether a chunk of X 4-bytes are integers or floats? A human can do this easily, but I wanted to do it programmatically. I realize that since every combination of bits will result in a valid integer and (almost?) all of them will also result in a valid float, there is no way to know for sure. But I still would like to identify the most likely candidate (which will virtually always be correct; or at least, a human can do it). For example, let's take a series of 4-bytes raw data and print them as integers first and then as floats: 1 1.4013e-45 10 1.4013e-44 44 6.16571e-44 5000 7.00649e-42 1024 1.43493e-42 0 0 0 0 -5 -nan 11 1.54143e-44 Obviously they will be integers. • Sending series of images to display like a movie on iPhone

  Allow me to elaborate more. On the server, we will have a program that will take data from iPhone and process that data and produce series of images. Each time an image is generated, it will be send back to display on iPhone. I have done all of the things above using UDP, OpenGL, and such. It works. The images are transferred to iPhone and can be displayed, but it is slow. The image's resolution is around 320 x 420 and we send the image pixels by pixels. This naive implementation leads to a slow framerate. I can see around 2-3 frames per second. There are also some UDP packets dropped, and this is expected. Are there any sort of compression method available for something like this? Are there any other method that can make this better? NOTE: please don't just write "compression" as an answer, because we are aware that we will need to do it in some ways.
