• jQuery click off element event

  I have a floating div that gets displayed, and I want it to be hidden when the user clicks off the div. This would be similar to the .hover() funtion callback when hovering off an element. Only I want to do this for click. I tried just setting a click event for the body, which would hide the div, but that gave unexpected results. Anyone have ideas on how I could easily do this?

• cruise control turns off on me when i use the system process

  Cruise control service set to System - Allow user to interact with desktop for the service. I log out with my user id and cruise control turns off. Any idea what is going on here? If I start the service a console window comes up. As soon as I close it cruise control also turns off... I need it to always be on... any ideas?

  I recently upgraded from windows eight to windows 8.1 I do not know if this has anything to do with anything I have a 64 bit OS. My Internet goes off by itself every 5 minutes even though my wireless icon at the lower right of the screen still shows connected I had an error message in the last event in it said that might DHCP settings were out of range. I get my internet at my house through a wireless portable hotspot through my smart phone. But i haven't ever had any problems before and i only have this problem on this network. If i turn airplane mode on and reset my network card, the internet will come back to life but soon die. i don't experience this problem while on a different network or if i'm on WiFi. • Android -- How to position View off-screen?

  Hello all, I'm trying to animate a simple ImageView in my application and I want it to slide in from the bottom of the screen and come to a resting position where the top 50px of the view is off the top of the screen (e.g. the final position of the ImageView should be -50px in X). I've tried to use the AbsoluteLayout to do this, but this actually cuts off the top 50px of the ImageView such that the top 50px is never rendered. I need to have the top 50px of the ImageView visible/rendered while it's animating and then simply have it come to a rest slightly off-screen. I hope I've explained that well enough. • mysql never releases memory

  I have a production server clocking about 4 million page views per month. The server has got 8GB of RAM and mysql acts as a database. I am facing problems in handling mysql to take this load. I need to restart mysql twice a day to handle this thing. The problem with mysql is that it starts with some particular occupation, the memory consumed by mysql keeps on increasing untill it reaches the maximum it can consume and then mysql stops responding slowly or does not respond at all, which freezes the server. All my tables are indexed properly and there are no long queries. I need some one to help on how to go about debugging what to do here. All my tables are myisam. I have tried configuring the parameters key_buffer etc but to no rescue. Any sort of help is greatly appreciated.   Hey all, With the new Xeon CPUs supporting Hyper-threading, what is the current wisdom with regard to using it (or not) on a Hyper-V host machine? I was originally under the impression that turning it on in a virtual host environment could be detrimental as the 'extra' CPUs were not true cores. However I've also read (unconfirmed) comments along the lines of MS doing some hard work to get Hyper-V running well in a Hyper-threading environment. Does anyone have any solid information or experience in this regard? Cheers!

• Microsoft Word 2007 opening all docs with field codes toggled off

  Recently, something changed with my Microsoft Word 2007 installation/preferences on Windows XP, such that whenever I open a word document, all the field codes are displayed raw instead of as their expanded value. For example, my header reads: My Name { TITLE \* MERGEFORMAT } Version { REVNUM \* MERGEFORMAT } But, if I copy and paste it here, it reads expanded: My Name My Doc Title Version 42 I expect to see the copy and paste version directly inside Word, I can work around this by right clicking on each such field and choosing toggle field codes, however, I never had to do that before, as previously, the document opened with all such field codes expanded. Another example is the Table of Contents which shows as: { TOC \o "1-3" \h \z \u } Instead of the full table of contents. I searched the word options dialog, but could not find anything that appeared relevant. Please suggest how to restore the old behavior.

The thing is, I miss the fact that in Windows 7, UAC could be adjusted so that the whole screen doesn't dim when UAC activates. Is there software or a tweak that I could use to stop the whole screen from dimming when UAC goes on?

  So I got a dying Western Digital hard drive here and I have a new Western Digital hard drive to transfer all the data to. I have the new HDD hooked up by a SATA to USB. I want to transfer all the pictures, etc to the new HDD. I am unable to because of the CRC error. I have ran chkdsk /f /r and it didnt work because the drive is just simply dying. What tool will let me bypass CRC and continue on with the copying? OS: Vista Home Prem. 32bit

• Packet dropped even when firewall is turned off in windows server 2008

  We have a windows 2008 server and lately we have started seeing a lot of 5152 Events logged in the server (Windows Filtering Platform blocked a packet). We have an inbound rule configured to allow connections to the port which was working fine earlier. I'm not sure what changed lately. But this doesn't make any sense. The packet is dropped even when windows firewall is disabled. What am I missing?

  I'm looking for a good workaround to do this on Windows 7 and Windows XP: Disable or make ineffective the network interface (ETH, WIFI, any NIC). If the user connect his ETH cable, the network interface enable again. Important Notes to take care: I'm working with wmic on Win7 (through the command line) I'm working with devcon on WinXP (through the command line) I'm specifically working with the .NET Framework 2.0 on C# but this is just for informational purposes. I know that an event won't help me to detect it (if there is a way or workaround to do this I don't know it). The real problem is that when I disable the NIC, I can't know if the user connects his cable or has a wired network. This is why I am looking for a workaround. I'll treat suggestions as answers if no direct answer exists. I'll provide any extra detail necessary.

  I recently started a new job. Today I tried emailing my wife from my new company email account. When she responded, her email went into the "Junk E-mail" folder. So I tried a few things: Added her to the "Safe Senders" list Added her as an Outlook contact and checked the "Also trust email from my Contacts" box in the "Safe Senders" tab Added her domain to the "Safe Senders" list Switched from "Low" to "No Automatic Filtering" in the Junk Email options No matter what I would do, her emails would still go into the Junk Email folder. Can anyone recommend additional things to try? EDIT: This is using Exchange.

  First of all, let me give you the specifics of our setup: Windows Small Business Server 2008 Domain w/ all applicable updates on the DC The DC does DHCP for the main site The DC does DNS for all sites 3 sites including our headquarters where the DC is located All sites are connected through OpenVPN SSL tunnels terminated by an Untangle box at each site The 2 remote sites us the Untangle box as a DHCP server for their subnet, which assigns the DC as the primary DNS server Collection of Windows XP and Windows 7 workstations connected to the domain Here's the issue: All of the workstations at the main site register with the DNS server on the domain controller fine. As they grab an IP from the DHCP server, it updates the DNS server with the new host record. I have 2 systems (each at different remote sites) that fail to register with the DNS server. I've attempted the following troubleshooting steps: Confirmed the network adapter is using the DC as a DNS server Confirmed 2-way traffic is possible between DC and workstation Verified the "Register with DNS server" setting was checked in the adapter properties Attempted ipconfig /registerdns and received no errors For the time being, I have setup a DHCP reservation for these systems and manually created a host record. This seems to work fine, but I need a solution for any new systems that go out there.

  Our Windows 7 computers/laptops are very slow at logoff, around 7 minutes (no problem at log on). We don't have this issue on XP clients. Problem occurs after adding the Win7 clients on domain. I tried to reset user profile. After resetting logoff takes around 2 minuted and after everyday it takes longer and longer We are using roaming profiles. Event Viewer: Event ID: 6005 The winlogon notification subscriber is taking long time to handle the notification event (Logoff). And then a minute later Event ID: 6006 - The winlogon notification subscriber took 300 second(s) to handle the notification event (Logoff).

• windows 7 second monitor switch off after UAC prompt

  I have a laptop with a second monitor connected in extended mode. Every time a UAC prompt comes up, both monitors dim, then about 1 or 2 seconds after the prompt goes away, the extended configuration disappears, leaving me with only the laptop monitor on. I can re-enable the extended monitor manually, but this is a pain. Any ideas?

  I'm configuring CentOS 6.2 and have seen a few "[abrt] full crash report" emails. I understand that abrt is useful for creating crash dumps and what not, so I don't want to disable the service, I just would like to stop getting the crash report emails. I probably have to add something to the config file in /etc/abrt/abrt.conf. I can't seem to find anything in my searches. Any idea? Thanks. Edit: Here is my abrt.conf, which is rather simple. • Mac Book Pro and Photosohp working canvas lost off screen somewhere

  I seem to have a unique issue. I have a mac book pro which I often have connected to one or 2 additional monitors, and I think this is in part my issue. Cause when Im at home working with only the built in monitor and I go to open something new or existing in photoshop my canvas if you will call it that is no where to be found. I checked my display settings, its treating it as a one monitor solution. I've tried to in photoshop to bring all my windows to front, Ive tried to cascade and tile my windows, ive tried to reset my work area, and to no avail I can't for the life of me get the canvas to come to my screen so I can work with what ever I intend to work on. Anyone else have this problem or run into similar? How did you fix it?

• Switch computer off automatically when the internet is disconnected

  Is there any free software that will detect the status of internet and shutdown the system when the internet disconnects? Or (more generally) can something run a task when the internet disconnects, and I can route it to shutdown the machine? I am downloading things overnight. But my problem is that sometimes the internet connection will be disconnected in the middle of the night, so there is no point in keeping the system running the rest of the night. So I need to avoid this problem by detecting the net connectivity.

• Getting my IP off the hotmail blacklist

  I got a new server with a new IP address. Apparently this IP is listed in the hotmail blacklists so that I can't send mails to hotmail users out of my webapplication. postfix/smtp[24706]: 8F31C9404B: to=<[email protected]>, relay=mx3.hotmail.com[65.55.37.88]:25, delay=0.66, delays=0.01/0/0.48/0.16, dsn=5.0.0, status=bounced (host mx3.hotmail.com[65.55.37.88] said: 550 SC-001 Unfortunately, messages from 78.47.228.xxx weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list. You can also refer your provider to http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors. (in reply to MAIL FROM command)) My hoster will not help me get that address removed from the blacklist. So I tried to find a way to do it on my own, but I can't find a way to ask Microsoft to remove my IP from that list. Has anyone managed to remove a falsely listed address? And if yes: how?

• Possible DNS issue after a reinstall of Windows Server 2000 (get off my lawn)

  I just replaced a drive on a Win2000 Server that replicates AD and issues out DHCP at one of our offices. I successfully joined it to the domain, setup range of IP's, etc, but am still having issues. I cannot RDC to it with name or IP. I can ping it, browse to it with Windows Explorer, and remote to it with some other software, but not RDC. The other issue is this: Users are unable to authenticate on it. They receive the message 'username or password incorrect' (or something like that). Changes made on the main domain controller seem to take forever to trickle down. The most significant entry in the DNS Server Log is Event ID 7062: The DNS Server Encountered a Packet Addressed to Itself. At least, I think its significant. The Directory Services Log shows numerous Event IDs 1265: The attempt to establish a replication link with parameters failed with the following status: The DSA operation is unable to proceed because of a DNS lookup failure. Does this make any sense to anyone? I feel like its something very simple that I am overlooking. Thanks in advance.

• Experiences with hosted (off-site) Microsoft Dynamics CRM?

  We're currently testing Microsoft Dynamics CRM hosted by Fpweb. I've been asked by the lead on the project how we can increase the speed at which CRM pages in IE load. The delay seems reasonable to me for a virtual server located across the country. Has anyone succeeded in speeding things up with aggressive caching (i.e. a WAN accelerator) or by some other means? Do your employees complain about the speed of hosted Dynamics CRM?
