• eMail with Conflicting Headers not blocked in MS365

  On occasion, a company receives eMail with two header fields (“Received” and “From”) containing data that contradict each other drastically. Should they not expect their anti-spam system to flag or block items with contradictions in these fields? For example, they received an eMail which contained [almost exactly] these two headers: Received: from [107.52.51.26] by web315204.mail.ne1.yahoo.com via HTTP; Mon,28 Oct 2013 04:28:04 PDT From: Barry Smith [email protected] Obviously, eMail from an @att.net address isn’t coming from a server on the domain yahoo.com, and Yahoo isn’t forwarding AT&T’s eMail. There were no other headers indicating that the item was sent “OnBehalfOf”, or “Forwarded-by”, or “By_Proxy” or any other such. Should I write a utility to scan incoming eMail for such conflicts, or look more closely at their spam filtering to block this kind of eMail? Their eMail system is Hosted Exchange on MS-365. My central question is, where specifically do I look in MS-365 to get this type of conflicted eMail blocked?

• SSH with X11 forwarding to host where I don't have a home-dir

  I am trying to ssh with X11 forwarding into a host where I don't have a home directory. Because of that, xauth fails and X11 doesn't seem to work. I tried to specify a home-directory in advance but I guess it doesn't export env-vars to the host. zeyer@demeter:~> HOME=/tmp ssh ares -XY Password: Warning: No xauth data; using fake authentication data for X11 forwarding. I still have write access to /tmp. But I am not sure how to setup the xauth fake authentication data manually.

  I have a reiserfs volume that required a --rebuild-tree, but is currently failing to complete when I pass it --rebuild-tree.   This is a variant of How do I restart Apache on Windows? "Apache -k restart" gives error "No installed service named "Apache2"; I have Apache httpd 2.2.22 on Windows, not running as a service (our product's uber-service starts httpd as a console app). I'm trying to get httpd to reload its configuration; Apache's Windows docs suggest httpd -k restart from any console window. When I do that, I get PS C:\apache\bin> .\httpd.exe -k restart [Mon Oct 29 14:06:56 2012] [error] (OS 2)The system cannot find the file specified. : No installed service named "Apache2.2". How do I convince it Apache's not running as a service?

  Is it syntactically correct to delimit multiple email recipients in the "To" header of an email with spaces only or do I need to use another delimiter (a semicolon or the like)?   my sites-available/ file looks something like the following: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin webmaster@mysite ServerName mysite.co.uk ServerAlias www.mysite.co.uk DocumentRoot /home/mysite.co.uk/htdocs/ <Directory /home/mysite.co.uk/htdocs/> Options -Indexes FollowSymlinks MultiViews AllowOverride All Order allow,deny allow from all </Directory> ErrorLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/mysite.co.uk/error.log LogLevel warn CustomLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/mysite.co.uk/access.log combined </VirtualHost> In .htaccess (in the htdocs/), I have (amongst others) the following rewrite rule: RewriteRule ^enquiries$ /enquiries.php Somehow I have also a directory named "enquiries" (/home/mysite.co.uk/htdocs/enquiries/), and when I hit the url "www.mysite.co.uk/enquiries" I get: HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2012 18:53:37 GMT Server: Apache/2.2.16 (Debian) Location: http://www.mysite.co.uk/enquiries/ Vary: Accept-Encoding Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 And a Browser would display the directory's content. Now, I could easily rename the folder and get it sorted, but I would like to understand what's going on here. What would be the correct way to configure Apache in a way that it wont behave this way, and instead would listen to the Rewrite Rule? • How can I run this script on startup, restart, and shutdown?

  I'm using Ubuntu 11.10. I've written a script, that synchronises a directory in ~ with a directory on /dev/sda4, using Unison. Before, I had this script running every five minutes with no problems, using crontab. Right now, I want to execute this script at startup, restart and shutdown only. This is what the script looks like: #!/bin/bash unison -perms 0 -batch "/mnt/Data/Syncfolder/" "/home/myname/Syncfolder/" My crontab configuration was as follows: m h dom mon dow command 0,5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50,55 * * * * sh /usr/local/bin/s4lj.bash Note that I copied the script from ~ to /usr/local/bin/ first, to avoid root problems. I've read How to execute script on shutdown? and How to write an init script that will execute an existing start script?. After doing that, I've done this: I've made s4lj.bash executable, and then copied it to /etc/init.d/. For startup, I've made a symlink in /etc/rc2.d/ to /etc/init.d/s4lj.bash, and renamed it to S70s4lj.bash. For restart, I've made a symlink in /etc/rc6.d/ to /etc/init.d/s4lj.bash, and renamed it to K70s4lj.bash. For shutdown, I've made a symlink in /etc/rc0.d/ to /etc/init.d/s4lj.bash, and renamed it to K70s4lj.bash. Still, the script won't be run in any of these situations. How can I make the script get executed? I'd be happiest with a proper *.conf file in /etc/init. Thanks in advance.

• mdadm: breaks boot due to "is not ready yet or not present" error

  This is so damn frustrating :-| I've spent like 20 hours on this nice error, and seems like dozens of people over Internet too, and no clear solution yet. I have non-system RAID-5 of 5 disks, and it's fine. But during boot up it says that "/dev/md0 is not ready yet or not present" and asks to press 'S'. Very nice for Ubuntu Server - I have to bring monitor and keyboard to go next. After this system boots and it's all fine. md0 device works, /proc/mdstat is fine. When I do mount -a - it mounts this array without errors and works fine. As a dumb and shameful workaround I added noauto in /etc/fstab, and did mounting in /etc/rc.local - it works fine then. • odd system name showing up in terminal

  Ive been working on some command line stuff with an external developer through team viewer for work, to interact with th CL i use terminal on OSX, when working with the developer i was always watching what they were doing and i also have all the bash history. Usually upon opening terminal i get something like this Last login: Tue Sep 17 21:33:02 on ttys001 You have mail. unknown-5c:00:00:00:00:00:~ sam$ (note ive replaced some characters in the last line with 00) But today when i opened up terminal and i get this Last login: Mon Oct 21 16:49:35 on ttys000 You have mail. richies-ipad:~ sam$ Note it now says richies-ipad - any idea why this is ? I dont know any one called richie let alone let them have access to my machine. Is this something to be worried about - the fact that someone has enough access to change that ? Also what does the ttys001 part on the first line mean ?

• Problems serving SVN over HTTPS on Ubuntu 10.04

  We've been experiencing some problems with our Subversion server after upgrading to Ubuntu 10.04. When trying to access a repository, regardless of client (I've tried git-svn and svn on Windows as well as svn on Ubuntu 10.04, from different computers and network locations), I get a 400 bad request. • CentOS/Apache killing connections

  Getting a really strange error. Basically, whenever I browse to my server (http://[ip_address] or http://[hostname]), it doesn't load, and my active SSH connection drops out. I installed CentOS 5.5, and then httpd and PHP 5.3. No other applications where installed, so I can't imagine it's something else causing it. I also reinstalled CentOS 5.5 again, completely fresh, the only thing I did to it was yum install httpd, and it still caused this issue. I've changed nothing in the config or anything else. Driving me mad, has anyone heard of this? It's really frustrating since everytime I attempt to debug this issue, I get kicked off SSH and have to log back in. Theres nothing in the Apache error logs, and nothing in the access log recording my attempt. Can someone explain what is going on or if these rules are even valid to cause this error? I know it's supposedly a recursion protection.. but these protect against SQL injection so I'm confused.

  I have a load balancer that I created an auto-scaling-group and launch-config for. I created the auto-scaling-group with a min-size of 1 and max size of 20. I have a scaledown policy: as-put-scaling-policy SBMScaleDownPolicy --auto-scaling-group SBMAutoScaleGroup --adjustment=-1 --type ChangeInCapacity --cooldown 300 Then I set up an alarm: mon-put-metric-alarm SBMLowCPUAlarm --comparison-operator LessThanThreshold --evaluation-periods 1 --metric-name CPUUtilization --namespace "AWS/EC2" --period 600 --statistic Average --threshold 35 --alarm-actions arn:aws:autoscaling:us-east-1:policystuffhere:autoScalingGroupName/SBMAutoScaleGroup:policyName/SBMScaleDownPolicy --dimensions "AutoScalingGroupName=SBMAutoScaleGroup" When average CPU usage over 10 minutes is under 35, in CloudFront the alarm shows up as "In Alarm State" but doesn't decrease the number of instances. Also, if there's only one instance running it'll spin up another to 2 even if a scale up alarm isn't hit. It seems like the default value is just set to 2 somehow. How can I change this?

• Laptop Charger Not Recognised Properly on Samsung NP900X3F

  Firstly thanks for your time. Secondly, having an issue with my power charger on my Samsung Series 9 NP900X3F. When I boot into Ubuntu with the charger plugged in it recognises it as charging. When I unplug the charger after this it is still says it is charging. If I suspend in Ubuntu then plug/unplug during this suspended state it recognises it, but not during normal running. If I knew a little more I'm sure I could grab logs and find out what the difference between wake on suspend and normal running is, but alas I need help! I also am having issues with my keyboard backlight via the fn keys, but that I care about far less. Thank you very much.
