    I'm trying to "hide" some of my perl program from the end user to make things easier on them. I'm doing what I can to keep them out of the command prompt. The program itself has a GUI designed in Perl/Tk, so they don't have to worry about the command prompt. Could I write out a quick batch file that goes along the lines of: START perl 'C:\[some path here]\myscript.pl' with START to start a program, the perl interpretor as my program, and the path/name of my perl script as the parameter? Would I have to specify where to find perl or would Windows just know because perl is in the computer's PATH variable? Thanks for the help!

    I'm trying to export a bunch of org mode files to PDF using emacs in batch mode. So far, only export to html seems to work. Wrote u:/tmp/Changelog.html HTML export done, pushed to kill ring and clipboard However, there is no function like org-export-as-pdf-batch and so I tried the following. U:\tmpd:\programs\emacs-23.1\bin\emacs.exe -batch --visit=Changelog.org -eval "(org-export-as-pdf \"Changelog.pdf\")" OVERVIEW Exporting to PDF... Exporting to LaTeX... Wrong type argument: number-or-marker-p, "Changelog.pdf" Any ideas on how to export to PDF? My org-mode version is 6.35i with on Emacs 23.1. I'm on WinXP.

  • How do I wait for a service/process to start before continuing a batch script?

    I am writing a windows batch script to uninstall some software. However I need to wait after the uninstaller has finished for a service to be restarted before continuing with the next uninstall. I can make the script wait for the uninstaller to finsh using:- for /f "usebackq" %%M in ('tasklist /nh /fi "imagename eq %process_1%"') do if not %%M==%ignore_result% goto 1 But I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the script to then wait for a service to start before continuing the script and running more uninstalls. I am open to any suggestions.

    I have a DOS batch file that show some results on the cmd console. I want users to press Enter to run program or press any other key on the keyboard to exit. I don't want to use options/choices because in that case user will have to enter at least something which I need to check and set the action. Example: At the end of the cmd console something say like this Press ENTER to open abc.exe or press any key on the keyboard to exit! Thanks!

    Hi. I have a program who's generating some data in registry. I save it with "reg export HKCU\Software\ProgramName\Data data.reg" (Unicode format). I need to take it to other computer and import it there so the program from that computer could use the data. But I have to remove some text lines from data.reg. The text lines are easy to find because they contain some strings. Now I'm doing this manually (using Wordpad) every few days but maybe there is another way... Oh and I can't install other programs on these computers (the access is restricted) so I have to use batch/cmd files. What I tried so far: - redirecting the export to "con" but is visual only not in a variable; - using "for /F ..." but this works only with ANSI and removes blank lines. Can somebody please help me...? Thank you.

    In a batch file, I have an inconsistent errorlevel behavior: The IP address 10.1.1.2 always replies. The following code always gives errorlevel 0 in one location (somewhere in the middle - exactly where i need it) inside the batch file. I copied only this snippet and placed it in the beginning and at the end of the batch file. In those locations, the result is always 1. Here is the code snippet: ping 10.1.1.2|Findstr /I /C:"timed out" /C:"host unreachable" echo %errorlevel% Any idea how to make it work also in the middle of the file? What am I doing wrong? I would hate to solve it with GOTOs(to the end of the file and back to where I need the result.)

  • How can I open a console application with a given window size?

    The application I want to start is MongoDB. If I would start it normally, it looks like this: I don't like the amount of line breaks and I have a lot of screen space, so I would like to utilize said space to get rid of the line breaks. I can change the size of the console window with MODE, so I wrote a batch file like this: @ECHO OFF MODE con:cols=140 lines=70 %~dp0mongodb\bin\mongod --dbpath %~dp0data --rest So far, so good. When I start this batch file, I get a larger window, as desired. But when I now press Ctrl+C to exit MongoDB, I get the annoying prompt: Terminate batch job (Y/N)? Which is useless, because the command I just exited out of was the last command in the batch job anyway and no matter what I answer, the result is the same. So, how can I get a larger console window for the application without having that prompt when I hit Ctrl+C?

  • PING through batch file (looping problem)

    I created a .BAT file in Windows 7 that has the following lines: PING XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX -t (XXX replaces the actual IP number). However, when I double click on this batch file, I can see the PING command repeatedly being executed in a loop. I even tried to rename the .BAT to .CMD but the result is the same. I want to avoid writing PING command through the Command Prompt, which is why I created the batch file. I don't know why the PING command is being continuously called when the same statement is put in a batch file.

    I am currently finding about how to build a XMPP client application on android 2.0.I came across this link which somewhat talks about the same problem.I am a newbie to android dev and thus found the solution given there to be difficult to digest. The system currently has Active MQ as a JMS provider.My job is to fed the messages coming from JMS to the XMPP server and then develope XMPP client on android 2.0 which will listen and show notification to the events pushed by the server. I have following concerns(which might sound foolish) 1.How do I push the events from JMS to the XMPP server which will in turn push them on android? 2.Which XMPP server implementation I should use?I have 3 options * Openfire: Very mature (was a commercial product), but sounds like it's heavyweight, written in Java * Prosody: Lightweight and easy to use, written in Lua. Doesn't have PubSub module yet * Tigase: Also lightweight, written in Java, supports PubSub How do I test and setup these servers.Do I need PubSub funcationality for my app? 3.For XMPP client I came across Smack API given here which is updated like 2 years back.Can anyone please tell me how do I make use of it for Android 2.0.If possible can anyone please mail me latest working Smack jar files.     I have the following backup batch file: xcopy C:\test.txt \server\Data\user\"data test" /e /y /i The issue is why does it not only copy the file listed but proceeds to copy the whole root directory? When i remove the switches it only copies the file. There is nothing in the description of those switches that seems to cause the behavior... They are there because I'm picking up where someone else left and all the batch files use these 3 switches. Thanks
