  • Virtual Server 2005 VSS writer missing

    I have two servers running Virtual server 2005 R2 SP1. I'm using Symantec Backup Exec 10d for backups. One server runs the backups fine but the other will cause the vm's to crash when it tries to backup. I think the problem is because the "Microsoft Vitual Server 2005 Writer" is not showing up when I run "vssadmin list writers". Can I install the writer without reinstalling VS 2005?

[368] AutoRestart: Unable to restart the MSSQLSERVER service (reason: Access is denied) Is there an authoritative place that describes what permissions should be assigned to a domain account that the SQL Server Agent runs as?   • Vaio Laptop wireless connectivity loss after some minute

    I have a big problem with my laptop, My laptop loss it's connectivity to internet randomly! for Example sometimes it's ok up to 1h but usually the problem occurred after 5 min. When I run these command, i can continue working with internet : ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew If i turn wireless off and on, the problem don't solved I have another laptop (Macbook pro) and it doesn't have any problem I use Linksys E2000 as an wireless access point Model : Sony vaio sa21gx OS : Windows 7 SP1 Thank you for your help and sorry for my bad english :)

    I'm dealing with a server running SQL Server 2000 SP1, and the logical filenames for one of the databases appear to contain trailing spaces. That is, this query: select replace(name, ' ', 'X') from sysfiles Returns the expected names plus a long string of Xs. How can I deal with this? I've tried running ALTER DATABASE... MODIFY FILE using the name (with and without spaces) and get an error message telling me the file does not exist.

  • SYSTEM hive of the register is causing computer to BSOD on boot

    After some work on my computer, perhaps some updates installs, it didn't boot anymore. BSOD on windows logo loading. After some research I've found out that if I replace the SYSTEM hive of the register with the last backup it boots ok, but of course goes back to an old stage of machine setup. So my question is: where does register stores hardware and/or updates/software that loads in the machine boot, so that I can check which program is producing that BSOD and disable it? System is Win 7 64 bits SP1

  • Slow SSD Read on Server 2008 SP2

    Im using a Intel X25-M 80G with the latest firmware. on XP /w using IDE and WIN7 using AHCI I get read speeds up to 250MB/S. But when running it with Server 2008 SP1 or SP2 on AHCI, I get read speeds around 180MB/S. Ive updated drivers for 2008, tested with writecache on/off. Any input would be appreciated. thanks!

    Very slow processing using Windows Server2008 R2 Standard with Service Pack One. Situation: Read a text file using the text data to populate a series of MS Sql tables. The converted data is used to generate monthly PDF invoice files; the PDF files are saved directly to the hard drive. The application is multi-threading with one thread used for the text conversion and three threads for PDF invoice generation. The text conversion is occurring concurrently with the invoice generation. Application Software: C# using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate. Crystal Report Writer 2011 with runtime 13_0_3 64 bit version. Targeted platform is x64; also tested as x86, and Any CPU with similar results. Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0. Microsoft Sql 2008 Issue: The software is running very slowly. The conversion of the text file is approximately six hundred fifty records per second and generation of the PDF files is approximately twelve invoices per minute. The text file to be converted is six hundred Meg with seven thousand invoices to be generated. The software was installed on three different machines from the same distribution files. The same text file was converted on each machine. The user executing the application was an administrator on each machine. The only variances were the machine and operating system.   • "Safely Remove Hardware" icon keeps reverting to "Only show notifications"

    I have the 'Safely Remove Hardware' tray icon set to 'Show icon and notifications' to save a mouse click when removing a USB device but every few weeks the setting reverts to 'Only show notifications'. Does anyone know what causes this and/or how I can prevent it? I'm using Windows 7 SP1 64bit with a fairly bare installation (the machine hosts a set of virtual machines that I use to do my work).   • Start menu entries suddenly missing

    I am using Windows 7 x64 SP1 with all updates applied. During the last weeks I observed that some start menu entries / folders suddenly disappeared. Those programs then sometimes can be found using the search function of the start menu, then however they are labeled by the name of their executable (like photoshop instead of Adobe Photoshop). Does anyone know where to start looking for errors? Does the start menu has anything to do with windows search? I doubt it?

    A friend's laptop came with "Windows Vista Home Premium (SP1)" installed in English. But she's from a country with a right-to-left language, and she wants to be able to type in her own language from right-to-left. Going to the control panel and adding a keyboard on her language did half of the trick. She can type in her language but on a left-to-right way. Is it possible to enable the cursor to go on the other direction?

  • CTRL-Space always toggles Chinese IME (Windows 7)

    I am running Windows 7 Ultimate (w/ SP1), and have multiple UI languages installed - mainly for screenshots etc. Among them are Chinese (traditional) and Chinese (Simplified), which insist on hooking the CTRL+Space key even though I have disabled / overridden these hotkey assignments under Language Bar settings / Advanced key settings. (It conflicts with CTRL+Space in the Visual Studio IDE, and is pretty annoying beyond that.) Any ideas?

  • Removable Disk Drives Not Appearing

    OS: Vista, SP1 My SD/MMC drive does not appear anywhere (MyComputer, Disk Manager). In My Computer the only available drives ar C:\, D:\ and J:. I can no longer view any removable disk drives. When I put my SD card into its slot, it doesn't get read at all. I can't load pictures from my card to my PC. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hardware acceleration disabled." and further down "Accelerated rasterization has not been enabled or is not supported by the current system." Is there a way to enable hardware acceleration?

    When ever I run an Exchange 2010 SP1 Discovery Search I get the following error: "Search failed as the results link to the target mailbox '[email protected]' couldn't be generated." I have checked to ensure the discovery mailbox is enabled I created a new Discovery mailbox. I get the same error with both Mailboxes. The user account I am using to run the search is a member of the "Discovery Management" security group. I get the same error whether I use the Shell or the ECP to run the search

    I'm installing OPSMGR I have 2 x servers running WS2012R2 with Windows updates applied SQL 2012 SP1 I've made sure the SQL collation is correct I'm installing all roles apart from Reporting on the SCOM server. All of the Prerequisites have passed. I can see the database is created in SQL but it doesn't go past "Operational Database Configuration" It hangs on "Importing System Library Management Pack" Any help would be greatly appreciated
