• Why does SQL 2005 SSIS component install fail?

  I am trying to install SSIS on our production SQL 2005 SP2 box. Each time I try, the install/setup screen results in failure, starting with the native client, and moving on down. To be honest, I'm not even sure where to start on this one - never guessed it would be so much trouble to add a component right from the disk. Any help or pointers whatsoever would be greatly appreciated. If any more details are needed, please ask - I'd be glad to add them.

• iPhone:Tabbar item actions are not happening

  Hello all, I created a window application, which has a tabbar controller with four tabbar items. Each tabbar items are linked with a tableview. I have also set Navigation bar for each tabbar items. I have appdelegate file, which calls the first tableview controller of which is set for first tabbar item. I am trying to retrieve and do an action whenever a tabbar item is clicked. For that, i tried to add "- (void)tabBar:(UITabBar *)tabBar didSelectItem:(UITabBarItem *)item" and "- (void)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UITableViewController *)viewController" in my first tableview controller, but it is not at all responding whenever i click any tabbar items. My question is, if i create a window based application and added tabbar controller, tableview and navigation bar in .XIB file, is it not possible to access and do an action programatically whenever a tabbar item is clicked? (or) Am i doing anything wrong? Please help me to resolve this and share your ideas. Thanks.

• WCF Webservices and FaultContract - Client's receiving SoapExc insted of FaultException<TDetails>

  Hi All, i'm developing a WCF Webservice and consuming it within a mvc2 application. My problem is that i'm using FaultContracts on my methods with a custom FaultDetail and i'm throwing manyally the faultexception but when the client receive the exception , it receives a normal SoapException instead of my FaultException that i throwed from the service side. Here is some code: Custom Fault Detail Class: [DataContract] public class MyFaultDetails { [DataMember] public string Message { get; set; } } Operation on service contract: [OperationContract] [FaultContract(typeof(MyFaultDetails))] void ThrowException(); Implementation: public void ThrowException() { var details = new MyFaultDetails { Message = "Exception Test" }; throw new FaultException<MyFaultDetails >(details , new FaultReason(details .Message), new FaultCode("MyFault")); } Client side: try { // Obv proxy init etc.. service.ThrowException(); } catch (FaultException<MyFaultDetails> ex) { // stuff } catch (Exception ex) { // stuff } What i expect is to catch the FaultException , instead that catch is skipped and the next catch is taken with an exception of type SoapException. Am i missing something ? i red a lot of threads about using faultcontracts within wcf and what i did seems to be good. • asp.net mvc controller actions testing

  I was just wondering how others are going about testing controller actions in asp.net mvc? Most of my dependencies are injected in to my controllers so there is a not a huge amount of logic in the action methods but there may be some conditional logic for example which I think is unavoidable. In the past I have written tests for these action methods, mocked the dependencies and tested the results. I have found this is very brittle and a real PITA to maintain. Having 'Expect' and 'Stub' methods everywhere breaks very easily but I don't see any other way of testing controller actions. I actually think it might be easier to test some of these manually! Anyone have any suggestions? Perhaps I am missing something here? Thanks Imran

• Iphone: UIWebview and double taps

  I would like to trap a double tap event in a UIWebView. I have derived a class from UIWebController. When I double tap it seams that the UIWebController itself is responding to my double taps instead of my class. The weird thing is that when I change the inheritance to inherit from UIView everything works just fine. Below are snippets from my code which is supposed to invoke a pop-up when double tapped.   I'm using jQuery to POST an Id to my route, for example: http://localhost:1234/Load/Delete with a POST Parameter Id = 1 I'm only using the default route in Global.asax.cs right now: routes.MapRoute( "Default", "{controller}/{action}/{id}", new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "" } ); When I perform the POST, in my ActionFilter filterContext.RouteData.Values["Id"] is set to the default value of "". Ideally, I'd like it to use the POST Parameter value automatically if the URL comes up with "". I know it is posting properly because I can see the value of "1" in filterContext.HttpContext.Request.Params["Id"]. Is there a way to get RouteData to use a POST parameter as a fall back value?

I found in the Spring documentation @required which I attempted to use in a 'test' but got this stmt INFO XmlConfigurationProvider:380 - Unable to verify action class [xxx] exists at initialization I have found another way in spring to do this is to write custom init methods and declare those on the bean but it almost seems like this is a strange thing to do to a struts2 action. In my application I inject through spring different web services (via setter injection) into different actions. I want to ensure on startup these are not null and set.

The web service is running on Glassfish and is soap 1.1, I've tried using all the packaged wcf bindings but have not been able to get them to work.   I'm trying to integrate a rails 3 app with jasper following this wiki: http://wiki.rubyonrails.org/rails/pages/HowtoIntegrateJasperReports But it seems that a lot of information isn't updated so it's been very hard to make it work by myself. I've also read a topic at ruby-forum: http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/139453 with some details explained but still couldn't make it work. My first problem is related with the render_to_string method: When the controller method runs I receive a "Template is missing" error: this is the method: def report @customers = Customer.all send_doc(render_to_string(:template => report_customers_path, :layout => false), '/pdfs', 'report.jasper', "customers", 'pdf') end Although this seems simple I'm not understanding why is this happening. Doesn't render_to_string with layout = false suposed to get me the string result of that action? I also tried :action instead of :template, but it does the same. • Asp.Net MVC does automatic model validation for DateTime but no others

  I'm using MVC 2 with some Models from a LinqToSql project that I built. I see that when I post back to a Controller Action after editing a form that has a DateTime field from the Model, the MVC Html.ValidationMessageFor() helper will nicely display an error beside the Date text box. This seems to happen automatically when the you test ModelState.IsValid() in the Controller Action, as if the MVC model binding automatically knows that the DateTime field cannot be empty. My question is... I have some other string fields in these LinqToSql generated classes that are Not-Nullable (marked as Not Nullable in Sql Server which passes thourgh to the LinqToSql generated classes), so why doesn't Mr. MVC pick up on those as well and display a "Required" message in the ValidationMessageFor() placeholders I have added for those fields? Sure, I have successfully added the MetadataType(typeof) buddy classes to cover these Non-nullable string fields, but it sure does seem redundant to add all this metadata in buddy classes when the LinqToSql generated classes already contain enough info that MVC could sniff out. It MVC validation works with DateTime automatically, why not these Not-nullable fields too?

• rails is loading from routes instead of the public folder

  I have a rails app. I have a file in #{RAILS_ROOT}/public/swfs/somthing.swf. Locally, when running with webrick, when I go to the url localhost:3000/swfs/something.swf, my swf loads just fine. My routes.rb file looks like the following ActionController::Routing::Routes.draw do |map| map.connect ':controller/:action/:id' map.connect ':controller/:action/:id.:format' end Then, I started running the app with apache. When I visit myurl.com/swfs/something.swf, I get the following error message: Routing Error No route matches "/swfs/something.swf" with {:method=>:get} It looks like, for some reason, it is loading using the rails routes, instead of going to the public folder first. Any suggestions?

We have successfully deployed the certificates so that when you browse to the service with IE you get the appropriate prompt for certificate and then it takes you immediately to the WSDL. But, when you attempt to generate a proxy using svcutil as defined in steps 8 and 9 in this MSDN article. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc949005.aspx I get the error: A reply message was received for operation 'Get' with action 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2004/09/transfer/Get'. However, your client code requires action 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2004/09/transfer/GetResponse'. The OSB services are set to use Soap 1.2 and the svcutil.exe.config we use is identicle to the article except for the findValue and x509FindType. Instead we used the FindByThumbprint pointing to the "My" store name and "CurrentUser" store location. The cert is there and is the same cert we select from the IE prompt.

  [Authorize] property is nice and handy MS invention, and I hope it can solve the issues I have now To be more specific: When current client isn't authenticated - [Authorize] redirects from secured action to logon page and after logon was successfull - brings user back, this is good. But when current cilent already authenticated but not authorized to run specific action - all I need is to just display my general 403 page. Is it possible without moving authorization logic within controller's body? • ASP.Net MVC ReturnUrl Practice

  I have a question about the returnUrl querystring parameter that is appended by ASP.Net when attempted to hit a page that requires authentication. In looking at Microsoft NerdDinner Sample's LogOn action (along with every other 'sample authentication code' I see on the 'net), it just has the ReturnUrl parameter declared in the action's signature and uses it directly in a Redirect() call. However, back in the WebForms days and using Membership Controls, we use to use the FormsAuthentication.GetReturnUrl() call. Besides returning the 'default url' if no url was specified in the querystring, it also does a few security checks (Cross App Redirect and 'IsDangerousUrl()'). Are those no longer a concern or are all the sample 'log on' actions I'm seeing all over the 'net just ignoring those issues?

My problem is that when i try to scroll down on my grid using the mouse on the side scroller, i get the 'no enterance' sign that means that "drag and drop is not allowed here, dude...".
