  • Using iptables to forward traffic destined for specific ip via specific interface

    - by shapeshifter
I want to forward traffic destined for a specific ip from my internal network via a specific interface. I have two interfaces which are currently load balanced. I need all requests for a certain ip to go out via eth0 otherwise my external ip changes and sessions are dropped. eg. all requests from 10.1.1.1/24 to ip 11.22.33.44 on port 443 must go out via interface eth0. How can I do this with iptables?

  • Visual Studio highlighting source code in bold

    - by widgisoft
While editing HTML/ASPX/ASCX etc; whenever I select an html tag, visual studio highlights the entire tag in black and bold; the black I'm not so fussed about but the bold changes the length of the line and really messes up the formatting. Is there a way to disable this? Thanks, Chris

  • .NET WebService IPC - Should it be done to minimise some expensive operations?

    - by Kyle
I'm looking at a few different approaches to a problem: Client requests work, some stuff gets done, and a result (ok/error) is returned. A .NET web service definitely seems like the way to go, my only issue is that the "stuff" will involve building up and tearing down a session for each request. Does abstracting the "stuff" out to an app (which would keep a single session active, and process the request from the web service) seem like the right way to go? (and if so, what communication method) The work time is negligible, my concern is the hammering the transaction servers in question will probably get if I create/drop a session for each job. Is some form of IPC or socket based communication a feasible solution here? Thoughts/comments/experiences much appreciated. Edit: After a bit more research, it seems like hosting a WCF service in a Windows Service is probably a better way to go...

The title says it all. Here are a few of my favourites to get things started: WINDOWS + BREAK - System Properties CTRL + SHIFT + ESC - Task Manager SHIFT + F10 - Context Menu (on keyboards without a CM key) And general text selection: HOME/END - Go to the start/end of the current line CTRL + HOME/END - Go to the start/end of the document CTRL + LEFT/RIGHT - Skip entire words SHIFT + CTRL + LEFT/RIGHT - Select entire words Edit: Just remembered this one SHIFT + DEL - Delete file (skip recycle bin)

  • What's the best way to identify subdomains by PHP dynamically?

    - by kavoir.com
I have configured the wildcard DNS of *.mydomain.com and it's all working properly. My question is which of these should I rely on identifying client subdomain requests? $_SERVER["HTTP_HOST"] $_SERVER["SERVER_NAME"] $_SERVER["SCRIPT_URI"] They all seem to contain the subdomain part I want but after reading this article by Chris: http://shiflett.org/blog/2005/feb/more-on-filtering-input-and-escaping-output, I'm lost at see and there appears to be no safe way to do this? Any idea on accomplishing this task securely?

  • Is There A Central Repository of Javascript Information?

    - by Brian
For example, if you want information of PHP functions, you can go to http://www.php.net/ . If you want information of Perl functions you can to to http://www.cpan.org/ and/or use perldoc. If you want information on Java you can go to http://java.sun.com and/or use javadoc. However, if you want information on Javascript methods/functions and their attributes, return values, etc. where do you go? The reason I ask is I was playing with the "focus()" method and wondering if it could be passed any values or if it returned anything when called. I have done a cursory Google search but haven't found much. Does such a beast exist or am I out of luck? Thanks for reading, and have a good day.

  • Design interoperable web services

    - by Zyd
Hi everyone, I'm designing a set of web services to allow our clients to connect from their apps to one of our systems. Our clients have their apps developed in all varieties of frameworks (.NET, Java, PHP, Python and even the occasional all JS app), so obviously WS is the way to go. Investigating a little about truly interop WS I've found that the way to go is to design first the WSDL and XSD and derive the implementations from there. What i'm really looking for is guidance if this is really the way to go. I've read that WCF creates interoperable WS but i'm not a fan of MS creating something standard. Should i use WCF or there is a good set of tools for designing WSDL and XSD without the pain i'm expecting. Thanks in advance

  • Problems with MYSQL database

    - by shinjuo
    I have a database that worked fine until I decided to add a log onto the page. here is what I have now: <body> <?php if($_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD'] == 'POST') { require("serverInfo.php"); mysql_query("UPDATE `cardLists` SET `AmountLeft` = `AmountLeft` + ".mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['Add'])." WHERE `cardID` = '".mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['Cards'])."'"); echo "\"" .$_POST['Add'] ."\" has been added to the inventory amount for the card \"". $_POST['Cards']. "\""; mysql_query("INSERT INTO `log` (`changes`, `amount`, `cardID`, `person`, Date)VALUES('ADDED','$_POST['Add']','$_POST['Cards']', '$_POST['Person']', NOW())"); mysql_close($link); } ?> <form action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>" method="post"> <?php require("serverInfo.php"); ?> <?php $res = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM cardLists order by cardID") or die(mysql_error()); echo "<select name = 'Cards'>"; while($row=mysql_fetch_assoc($res)) { echo "<option value=\"$row[cardID]\">$row[cardID]</option>"; } echo "</select>"; ?> Amount to Add: <input type="text" name="Add" maxlength="8" /> Changes Made By: <select name="Person"> <option value="justin">Justin</option> <option value="chris">Chris</option> <option value="matt">Matt</option> <option value="dan">Dan</option> <option value="tim">Tim</option> <option value="amanda">Amanda</option> </select> <input type="submit" name ="submit" onClick= "return confirm( 'Are you sure you want to add this amount?');"> </form> <br /> <input type="button" name="main" value="Return To Main" onclick="window.location.href='index.php';" /> </body> </html> it works fine until I added the: mysql_query("INSERT INTO `log` (`changes`, `amount`, `cardID`, `person`, Date)VALUES('ADDED','$_POST['Add']','$_POST['Cards']', '$_POST['Person']', NOW())"); mysql_close($link); Can anyone see what is going on?

    - by Josh Guzman
I'm using tuProlog to integrate Prolog with Java, to do so I'v been defined a .pl file wich contains this code: go:-write('hello world!'),nl. In my Java File at NetBeans i Have a Main Class that invokes this: Prolog engine = new Prolog(); Theory theory = new Theory(new FileInputStream("facultad.pl")); try { engine.setTheory(theory); } catch (InvalidTheoryException ex) { } SolveInfo solution = engine.solve("go."); if (solution.isSuccess()) { System.out.println(solution.getSolution()); } This Code must returns 'hello world', but instead of that it answer 'go', any ideas about this erratic behavior ??

  • VPN connection prevents the computer from sleeping - can I avoid that ?

    - by driis
Most of the time, I need to have an active VPN connection when working from my home PC. I've discovered, that if the VPN is active, and I leave the computer, the computer does not go to sleep automatically, as it should. If i disconnect VPN, it works. Why is that ? How can I ensure that my PC can go into sleep mode automatically even with the VPN connection on ?

  • Next/Last word with Netbeans in Mac OSX

    - by Phuong Nguy?n
I've just switched to Mac OSX from Ubuntu. The development on Mac OSX using Netbeans is really a joy (of hell, though) I don't know how to go to next word, last word using keyboard. In windows or ubuntu, this should be Ctrl+Left/Right, but definely not in Mac. In Mac, such key combinations result in go to begin/end of line. Futhermore, the use of Home and End is for something else, not go to begin/end of line (What a cool hell). Is there another key combination? I prefer default key settings, please. I'm sick of going around with custom script.

  • How to create a ghost environment?

    - by manwood
I want to create a ghost or image of a fresh Windows XP development environment with all the various bits of software installed and ready to go, so that when the OS gets clogged or the main disk fails I can simply install the ghost rather than having to run through the entire install and setup process all over again. What is the best way to go about doing this? Cheers.

  • Which hardware to VM ratio for Build-Server virtualization?

    - by Martin
Let's start with saying that I'm a total noob wrt. to server virtualization. That is, I use VMs often during development, but they're simple desktop machine things for me. Now to my problem: We have two (physical) build servers, one master, one slave running Jenkins to do daily tasks and build (Visual C++ Builds) our release packages for our software. As such these machines are critical to our company, because we do lot's releases and without a controlled environment to create them, we can't ship fixes. (And currently there's no proper backup of these machines in place, because they do not hold any data as such - it just would be a major pain to setup them again should they go bust. (But setting up backup that I'd know would work in case of HW failure would even be more pain, so we have skipped that until now.)) Therefore (and for scaling purposes) we would like to go virtual with these machines. Outsourcing to the cloud is not an option, not at all, so we'll have to use on-premises hardware and VM hosts. Each Build-Server (master or slave) is a fully configured (installs, licenses, shares in case of the master, ...) Windows Server box. I would now ideally like to just convert the (two) existing physical nodes to VM images and run them. Later add more VM slave instances as clones of the existing ones. And here begin my questions: Should I go for one VM per one hardware-box or should I go for something where a single hardware runs multiple VMs? That would mean a single point of failure hardware wise and doesn't seem like a good idea ... or?? Since we're doing C++ compilation with Visual Studio, I assume that during a build the hardware (processor cores + disk) will be fully utilized, so going with more than one build-node per hardware doesn't seem to make much sense?? Wrt. to hardware options, does it make any difference which VM software we use (VMWare, MS, Virtualbox, ... ?) (We're using Windows exclusively for our builds.) Regarding budget: We have a normal small company (20 developers) budget for this. ;-) That is, if it's going to cost a few k$ it's going to cost. If it's free - the better. I strongly prefer solutions where there's no multi-k$ maintenance costs per year.

  • Windows 7 Computer Management Not Accessible

    - by David
I am having issues trying to access Computer Management from the start menu. The following is a screenshot of exactly how I want to go to computer management. I know that there are other ways to get to computer management, but I would like to go the easier way through the start menu. I tried restarting the computer and I tried patching the computer. No error message comes up or anything. There is no response from the computer.

  • How to do an alphnumeric sort in R

    - by cbare
    Is there an alphanumeric sort for R? Say I had a character vector like so: > seq.names <- c('abc21', 'abc2', 'abc1', 'abc01', 'abc4', 'abc201', '1b', '1a') I'd like to sort it aphanumerically, so I get back this: c('1a', '1b', 'abc1', 'abc01', 'abc2', 'abc4', 'abc21', 'abc201') Does this exist somewhere, or should I start coding? Thanks, -chris
