Hardware advice for bitmap / openGL image processing server?

I am trying to work out a build for a processing server to handle bitmap processing as well as openGL rendering for chroma-keying images and Photoshop automation. My searches here and on Google have turned up surprisingly few results, and seeing that there aren't tags for bitmap or image processing I take it this is a specialized application. The bitmap processing is very cpu-intensive while the chroma-keying and Photoshop stuff is gpu-intensive. I doubt this is a case of over-optimization as our company batches thousands of images a day (currently on individual workstations) and any saving in processing time and workstation down-time would be beneficial. Does anyone have any experience with this type of processing server? Any special considerations that would go into a build like this or am I over-thinking it?

Compress snapshot backups with duplicates

I have a set of backups of mostly photos. The directory looks sort of like this: backup/Day1/photos/1.jpg .../2.jpg backup/Day2/photos/2.jpg .../3.jpg .../4.jpg backup/DayN/photos/2.jpg .../3.jpg .../9.jpg Files with same name are identical. There are many duplicates. Due to the way the backup system works, it's not possible to create incremental backup directly. I always get the entire dump each day. If I want to create a compressed archive for a date range, say Day 5~9, what is the best tool/compression algorithm to do that?

What is the fastest way for me to become a full stack developer? [on hold]

I run a small webdesign firm. I have an overview of HTML, CSS, JS, PHP(laravel), MySQL. I did a few courses on code academy. I wanted to build a web app in the company. I find that I am severely crippled by the lack of programming expertise. I want to become a full stack developer who can build a prototype on his own. I cannot spend 5-10k USD on the boot camp courses. Can someone suggest structured courses which can help me become a full stack developers? I found the following websites but I donot know if they can help me become one. My goal: Be able to make a working prototype of the ideas I come up with.(This is my primary goal. I do not want to be the lead developer. I just want to be able to make a prototype.) Several questions I have in mind: Will it be fine if I stick to PHP(laravel)? Should I be using ROR? I have come across a few online resources: Codeacademy, codeschool,teamtreehouse,and theodinproject. These are within my affordability range. I can commit to a 2-3 months intensively to learn programming. What do you suggest I do?

It only applies to the x64 build of my project, x86 still works fine. Apparently, it tries to build a x64 interop assembly from the x86 DLL located in "C:\Assemblies". When executing the TlbImp command with the x64 DLL which is located in a different directory, it works fine. However, I don't know how I can configure my project to use different COM references for the x86 and x64 build. The OS on which the project is being compiled is WinXP x86. Building worked fine when using VS2005 + MSBuild 3.5 Any help would be highly appreciated. I tried building the upgraded project with MSBuild v3.5, but that doesn't work either. It complains about unknown NoWarn codes (probably new in 4.0).

Audio Recording with Appcelerator on Android

I would like to record audio and then send the file to a webserver. I am using Titanium 1.8.2 on Win7. The application I am woring on is both for Android and iphone and I do realise that Titanium.Media.AudioRecorder and Titanium.Media.AudioPlayer are for these purpose. Let's concentrate on android for a while. On that platform you can achieve audio recording by creating an intent and then you handle the file in your application. See more here. This implementation has a couple of drawbacks: You cannot stay in your application (as a native audio recorder will start up) You only get back an uri from the recorder and not the actual file. Another implementation is done by Codeboxed. This module is for recording an audio without using intents. The only problem that I could not get this working (along with other people) and the codeboxed team does not respond to anyone since last year. So my question is: Do you know how to record audio on android without using an intent? Thanks in advance. Edit: My problem with codeboxed's module: I downloaded the module from here. I copied the zip file into my project directory. Ivy resolve not working with dynamic artifact

I've been using Ivy a bit but I seem to still have a lot to learn. I have two projects. One is a web app and the other is a library upon which the web app depends. The set up is that the library project is compiled to a jar file and published using Ivy to a directory within the project. In the web app build file, I have an ant target that calls the Ivy resolve ant task. What I'd like to do is have the web app using the dynamic resolve mode during development (on developer's local machines) and default resolve mode for test and production builds. Previously I was appending a time stamp to the library archive file so that Ivy would notice changes in file when the web app tried to resolve its dependency on it. Within Eclipse this is cumbersome because, in the web app, the project had to be refreshed and the build path tweaked every time a new library jar was published. Publishing a similarly named jar file every time would, I figure, only require developers to refresh the project. The problem is that the web app is unable to retrieve the dynamic jar file. Hi all, I'm trying to create a continuous integration environment. To do so, I've used a guide that can be found at http://www.15seconds.com/issue/040621.htm. In this step by step, the goal is to create a CI with CCNet, NAnt, NUni, NDoc, FxCop and source safe. I've been able to create my build by using the command prompt (despite the the different versions issues). The problem has come with the configuration of ccnet.config I've made some changes because of the new versions, but I'm still getting errors when starting the CCNet server. The problem I have is that because of some of the functionality that was added onto the MVC1 based library (view engines, model binders etc) several of the sites reliant on these libraries need to stay on MVC1 until we have full evaluated and tested them on MVC2. I would prefer to not have to fork or have two copies on each dev machine. I have a dropdown to display status, which can be Enabled(true) or Disabled(false). Maven not setting classpath for dependencies properly

OS name: "linux" version: "2.6.32-27-generic" arch: "i386" Family: "unix" Apache Maven 2.2.1 (r801777; 2009-08-06 12:16:01-0700) Java version: 1.6.0_20 I am trying to use the mysql dependency in with maven in ubuntu. If I move the "mysql-connector-java-5.1.14.jar" file that maven downloaded into my $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext/ folder, everything is fine when I run the jar. I think I should be able to just specify the dependency in the pom.xml file and maven should take care of setting the classpath for the dependency jars automatically. Is this incorrect? How can I get the javac task to use an existing fileset? In my build.xml I have created several filesets to be used in multiple places throughout build file. And do so without having to specify the files every time. The only problem with this is that javac does not support filelist. It also does not support fileset, path or pathset. I've tried using but it treats the list as a single file name. Another thing I tried is sending the reference directly (not using toString) and using but include does not have a ref attribute. SO THE QUESTION IS: How do you get the javac task to use a reference to a fileset that was defined in another part of the build file? I'm not interested in solutions that cause me to have multiple javac tasks. Completely re-writting the macro is acceptable. Changes to the targets are also acceptable provided redundant code between targets is kept to a minimum. p.s. Another problem is that fileset wants a comma separated list. I've only done a brief search for a way to convert semi-colons to commas and haven't found a way to do that. p.p.s. The debug Dlls in my project are dependent on both the VS2008 and the VS2008SP1 debug runtimes. We have this dynamic uploader which creates a new instance of swfupload. I'm a little bit confused with the outputs produced by firefox and ie. Firefox have the same output as chrome, safari and opera. Whenever I clicked a button for adding a new instance, the previous instances of swfupload in firefox refresh while IE don't. Maven does not resolve a local Grails plug-in

My goal is to take a Grails web application and build it into a Web ARchive (WAR file) using Maven, and the key is that it must populate the "plugins" folder without live access to the internet. An "out of the box" Grails webapp will already have the plugins folder populated with JAR files, but the maven build script should take care of populating it, just like it does for any traditional WAR projects (such as WEB-INF/lib/ if it's empty) This is an error when executing mvn grails:run-app with Grails 1.1 using Maven 2.0.10 and org.grails:grails-maven-plugin:1.0. If it is not stored in a configured repository you will need to install it manually. Type 'grails list-plugins' to find out what plugins are available. The build machine does not have access to the internet and must use an internal/enterprise repository, so this error is just saying that maven can't find the required artifact anywhere. That dependency is already included with the stock Grails software that's installed locally, so I just need to figure out how to get my POM file to unpackage that ZIP file into my webapp's "plugins" folder. I've tried installing the plugin manually to my local repository and making it an explicit dependency in POM.xml, but it's still not being recognized. Maybe you can't pull down grails plugins like you would a standard maven reference? mvn install:install-file -DgroupId=org.grails -DartifactId=grails-hibernate -Dversion=1.1 -Dpackaging=zip -Dfile=%GRAILS_HOME%/plugins/grails-hibernate-1.1.zip I can manually setup the Grails webapp from the command-line, which creates that local ./plugins folder properly. Unable to install Xdebug

I've registered xdebug in php.ini (as per http://xdebug.org/docs/install) but it's not showing up when i run "php -m" or when i get a test page to run "phpinfo()". I've just installed the latest version of XAMPP. Can anyone provide any suggestions in getting xdebug to show up?
