• Django choking oddly on some static media

  My situation: I'm serving static media via Django on my dev machine. Here's the odd part: changing the filename of the files makes them suddenly work. For example, I had a file called 'post.jpg', which gave this error. I renamed it to 'pos.jpg' and it worked. Back to 'post.jpg' and it gives the same error.

  Hello, I have completed a simple database for a project. Only 6tables. Of the 6, one is a "lookup" table. There is one "master" table that is the driver for the system. It is referenced as a foreign key by the other four tables. Give that this step is completed. What is the FASTEST, EASIEST way to create POCOs/BizObjects that can load load the data and the child data. Here are my CAVEATS. *I don't want to spend more than 30-60 minutes learning how? *There is very little biz logic needed in the POCOs. They will pretty much load data. Don't even really need to write back data. *I already know CSLA (up to version 3) but I feel that is overkill for this little project. *Nevertheless, I would love it if it ROOT objects could have collection classes that contain the CHILD objects as in CSLA...but again, without using CSLA. *Please give the answer for .NET 35 but also if I was restricted to only use .NET 20. *Ideally I could just point a tool at the database and the POCOs would be genn'ed. *FREE Just curious what you guys use for this kind of scenario. I think it might have something to do with iOS automatically choosing the @2x named version of images or vica versa. • Which languages support class replacement?

  Hi, I'm writing my master thesis, which deals with AOP in .NET, among other things, and I mention the lack of support for replacing classes at load time as an important factor in the fact that there are currently no .NET AOP frameworks that perform true dynamic weaving -- not without imposing the requirement that woven classes must extend ContextBoundObject or MarshalByRefObject or expose all their semantics on an interface. You can however do this in Java thanks to ClassFileTransformer: You extend ClassFileTransformer. You subscribe to the class load event. On class load, you rewrite the class and replace it. All this is very well, but my project director has asked me, quite in the last minute, to give him a list of languages that do / do not support class replacement. I really have no time to look for this now: I wouldn't feel comfortable just doing a superficial research and potentially putting erroneous information in my thesis. So I ask you, oh almighty programming community, can you help out? Of course, I'm not asking you to research this yourselves. • Caching issue with javascript and asp.net

  Hi guys: I asked a question a while back on here regarding caching data for a calendar/scheduling web app, and got some good responses. However, I have now decided to change my approach and stat caching the data in javascript. I am directly caching the HTML for each day's column in the calendar grid inside the $('body').data() object, which gives very fast page load times (almost unnoticable). However, problems start to arise when the user requests data that is not yet in the cache. This data is created by the server using an ajax call, so it's asynchronous, and takes about 0.2s per week's data. My current approach is simply to block for 0.5s when the user requests information from the server, and cache 4 weeks either side in the inital page load (and 1 extra week per page change request), however I doubt this is the optimal method. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to improve the situation? To summarise: Each week takes 0.2s to retrieve from the server, asynchronously. Performance must be as close to real-time as possible. (however the data is not needed to be fully real-time: most appointments are added by the user and so we can re-cache after this) Currently 4 weeks are cached on either side of the inial week loaded: this is not enough. to cache 1 year takes ~ 21s, this is too slow for an initial load.

• jQuery Dialog form serialize reposting incorrect data on subsequent uses

  I'm working with forms inside jQuery Dialog, and am having some issues with the data it's posting. First load and save works fine, posts the correct data.   I have a JSF page that will create a new Comment. The problem I am having right now is that, if I am on A, constructor of A will load, but it will also load constructor of bean B. This make my page load twice as slow. What would be the best way to solve this problem?

• Memcache error: Failed reading line from stream (0) Array

  I get some variation of the following error when our server gets put under any significant load. I've Googled for hours about it and tried everything (including upgrading to the latest versions and clean installs). I've read all the posts about it here on SA, but can't figure it out. A lot of people are having the same problem, but no one seems to have a definitive answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. • Working with libpath with java reflection.

  I'm dynamically loading a class and calling a method on it. This class does JNI. When I call the class, java attempts to load the library. This causes an error because the library is not on the libpath. I'm calling from instead a jar so I can't easily change the libpath (especially since the library is not in the same directory or a sub directory of the jar). I do know the path of the library, but how can I load it before I load the class.   I have an unordered list of eight items. On page load the first five <li> have default thumbnail images in them and the 6th one has a 1px by 1px placeholder image with the ID of $('#last'). When a user inserts a new image it replaces the 'src' of $('#last') with their new image. It's not the most efficient way but it works. <ul> <li><img src="img1.png" /></li> <li><img src="img2.png" /></li> <li><img src="img3.png" /></li> <li><img src="img4.png" /></li> <li><img src="img5.png" /></li> <li><img src="1px.png" id="last"/></li> <li></li> <li></li> </ul> When the user adds a new image the ID of $('#last') is removed and I use each() to find the next empty <li> and insert the 1px by 1px image in it, with an ID of $('#last') so it is ready for the next image upload. At this point I need to get the index() of the <li> that now has the 1px by 1px image in it, whose ID is $('#last'), so that I can store the index in the session, so when a user comes back to the page the $('#last') ID is still set and ready to accept another image. How do I get the index of the <li> with that image in it, since it was set after page load? Is there a way to use delegate() or on() to get it? i.e. how do I get the index of an element that was set after page load?

• How to implement a single instance app manager in java (CVM PhoneME)?

  Hi, I'm working on a application manager for embeded platform based on the CVM PhoneME VM. The VM is started by a C++ app which configures the CVM and then triggers the VM itself. This C++ app is called form the command line passing the main class name and the classpath of a java application. There is a main java app (lets call it Manager) which loads the app using classloaders. I want this manager to be a single instance application so it could track all running apps. In other words: The first time I start an app (app1 for instance), the VM will launch and the Manager will load the app1. In further calls to load other apps (app2, app3 and so on), the same instance of the Manager would load those apps. The manager is working fine, except for the fact that this is not a single instance. Is it possible to do what I want? • Codeigniter return config file as array with autoload enabled

  So I'm using CodeIgniter to build a website and I've made it so that all my specific settings are stored in a config file that's automatically loaded. I've also built a page that loads the settings file, makes a nice little table and allows me to edit everything from that page, afterwards it saves the entire page again (I know I could've done the same with a database but I want to try it this way). My problem is that I can't seem to use this bit when autoloading of my config file is enabled, but when I disable autoloading I can't seem to manually load it, it never finds my variables.   My question is a design question : let's say i have a data entry web page with 4 drop down lists, each depending on the previous one, and a bunch of text boxes. ddlCountry (DropDownList) ddlState (DropDownList) ddlCity (DropDownList) ddlBoro (DropDownList) txtAddress (TxtBox) txtZipcode(TxtBox) and an object that represents a datarow with a value for each: countrySeqid stateSeqid citySeqid boroSeqid address zipCode naturally the country, state, city and boro values will be values of primary keys of some lookup tables. when the user chooses to edits that record, i would load it from database and load it into the page. the issue that I have is how to streamline loading the DropDownLists. i have some code that would grab the object,look thru its values and move them to their corresponding input controls in one shot. but in this case i will have to load the ddlCountry with possible values, then assign values, then do the same thing for the rest of the ddls. I guess i am looking for an elegant solution. i am using asp.net, but i think it is irrelevant to the question. i am looking more into a design pattern.

• J-Monkey subclass

• what is the best way to optimize my json on an asp.net-mvc site

  i am currently using jqgrid on an asp.net mvc site and we have a pretty slow network (internal application) and it seems to be taking the grid a long time to load (the issue is both network as well as parsing, rendering) I am trying to determine how to minimized what i send over to the client to make it as fast as possible. Here is a simplified view of my controller action to load data into the grid: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Get)] public ActionResult GridData1(GridData args) { var paginatedData = applications.GridPaginate(args.page ?? 1, args.rows ?? 10, i => new { i.Id, Name = "<div class='showDescription' id= '" + i.id+ "'>" + i.Name + "</div>", MyValue = GetImageUrl(_map, i.value, "star"), ExternalId = string.Format("<a href=\"{0}\" target=\"_blank\">{1}</a>", Url.Action("Link", "Order", new { id = i.id }), i.Id), i.Target, i.Owner, EndDate = i.EndDate, Updated = "<div class='showView' aitId= '" + i.AitId + "'>" + GetImage(i.EndDateColumn, "star") + "</div>", }) return Json(paginatedData); } So i am building up a json data (i have about 200 records of the above) and sending it back to the GUI to put in the jqgrid. The one thing i can thihk of is Repeated data. In some of the json fields i am appending HTML on top of the raw "data". This is the same HTML on every record. It seems like it would be more efficient if i could just send the data and "append" the HTML around it on the client side. Is this possible? Then i would just be sending the actual data over the wire and have the client side add on the rest of the HTML tags (the divs, etc) be put together. Also, if there are any other suggestions on how i can minimize the size of my messages, that would be great. I guess at some point these solution will increase the client side load but it may be worth it to cut down on network traffic.

• Java library for trees similar to JGraphT for graphs?

  I'm a big fan of JGraphT, a Java library for graphs. Could anyone recommend a similar Java library for trees? Preferrably FOSS. What I need is a good API, preferrably typesafe with generics which allows modelling different kinds of trees (with some user data attached to verticies/edges) and run different algorithms and operations on these trees. For instance, traverse or balance. At the moment I'm not interested in visualization of trees.
