  I want to make an app in .net to search on google for a keyword and click on a specific link from the results. Like a bot. How can I get the coordinates of screen where the specific link appears in search results so I can do a click on it. The component where the page loads will have javascript enabled so just parsing the html is not enought. It must look like a real user is clicking on the link.( it`s for a school project involving seo) or What is the best approach to do this ?

• Creative an interactive GUI for a web application

  I have to create a web application (preferably using the Google App Engine) that will allow users to access it through a url link (not a Desktop application). The application graphically looks like a flow chart and each item in the chart can be selected to pull up a video (not in another window). It is recommended that I use Python. I have never made anything for the web before. Is there a best Python GUI API I should use? I've read quite a bit about Django so far I'm not sure if it is the best fit for this or not. • Google AppEngine java.net.Socket is restricted error

  I'm using Quercus/PHP on AppEngine. When I run a simple script with file_get_contents($url); I get an error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: java.net.Socket is a restricted class. Please see the Google App Engine developer's guide for more details. I've googled and although I find that other's have run into the same error, but the cause seems the vary. What do you think is cousing this error for me? I'm using the latest AppEngine Java SDK, and the latest Quercus.

• algorithm q: Fuzzy matching of structured data

  I have a fairly small corpus of structured records sitting in a database. Given a tiny fraction of the information contained in a single record, submitted via a web form (so structured in the same way as the table schema), (let us call it the test record) I need to quickly draw up a list of the records that are the most likely matches for the test record, as well as provide a confidence estimate of how closely the search terms match a record. The primary purpose of this search is to discover whether someone is attempting to input a record that is duplicate to one in the corpus. There is a reasonable chance that the test record will be a dupe, and a reasonable chance the test record will not be a dupe. The records are about 12000 bytes wide and the total count of records is about 150,000. There are 110 columns in the table schema and 95% of searches will be on the top 5% most commonly searched columns. The data is stuff like names, addresses, telephone numbers, and other industry specific numbers. In both the corpus and the test record it is entered by hand and is semistructured within an individual field. You might at first blush say "weight the columns by hand and match word tokens within them", but it's not so easy. I thought so too: if I get a telephone number I thought that would indicate a perfect match. The problem is that there isn't a single field in the form whose token frequency does not vary by orders of magnitude. A telephone number might appear 100 times in the corpus or 1 time in the corpus. The same goes for any other field. This makes weighting at the field level impractical. I need a more fine-grained approach to get decent matching. My initial plan was to create a hash of hashes, top level being the fieldname. Then I would select all of the information from the corpus for a given field, attempt to clean up the data contained in it, and tokenize the sanitized data, hashing the tokens at the second level, with the tokens as keys and frequency as value. I would use the frequency count as a weight: the higher the frequency of a token in the reference corpus, the less weight I attach to that token if it is found in the test record. My first question is for the statisticians in the room: how would I use the frequency as a weight? Is there a precise mathematical relationship between n, the number of records, f(t), the frequency with which a token t appeared in the corpus, the probability o that a record is an original and not a duplicate, and the probability p that the test record is really a record x given the test and x contain the same t in the same field? How about the relationship for multiple token matches across multiple fields? Since I sincerely doubt that there is, is there anything that gets me close but is better than a completely arbitrary hack full of magic factors? Barring that, has anyone got a way to do this? I'm especially keen on other suggestions that do not involve maintaining another table in the database, such as a token frequency lookup table :). • Impossible to do POSTs with appengine-jruby/RoR: Reflection is not allowed

  I'm trying to build a site with RoR on Google App Engine. I'm using the google-appengine gem (http://appengine-jruby.googlecode.com) and following the instructions in (http://gist.github.com/268192). The problem is that I can't submit ANY form! I've already tried this in two diferent clean Win 7 Pro envs and the result is the same. After install Ruby 1.8.6 (One-Click Installer): 1. gem update --system 2. gem install rails 3. gem install google-appengine 4. gem install rails_dm_datastore 5. gem install activerecord-nulldb-adapter 6. curl -O http://appengine-jruby.googlecode.com/hg/demos/rails2/rails2_appengine.rb 7. ruby rails2_appengine.rb (previously downloaded) 8. rails myproj 9. chmod myproj 10. ruby script/generate dd_model MyModel f1:string f2:float f3:float f4:float f5:integer f6:integer f7:integer -f 11. ruby script/generate scaffold MyModel f1:string f2:float f3:float f4:float f5:integer f6:integer f7:integer -f --skip-migration 12. dev_appserver.rb -p 3000 . At this point, I manually test the scaffold in (http://localhost:3000/my_models). The index is OK, then I create a new registry with the generated form, everything's fine, but when I try to create a second one, I get a "java.lang.RuntimeException: DummyDynamicScope should never be used for backref storage" in the console. As far as I read this is a won't-fix behavior in JRuby 1.4.1, but it's converted to a debug only warning in 1.5.0, so I proceed to install the pre release. 13. gem install appengine-jruby-jars --pre With this, that exception is solved and everything works great... until I move the project to the GAE server. 14. ruby appcfg.rb update . And now, in (http://myproj.appspot.com/my_models), again, the index is fine, also the new form, but in the moment that I submit it with valid data, I get a 500 error: "java.lang.IllegalAccessException: Reflection is not allowed on public int". As I said, this behavior is not present in the local SDK. In both cases, I'm completely unable to post anything. • what to do when Bing api provides inaccurate results

  I am trying to use the bing Phonebook search for locations in China, but all the latitude and longitude are inaccurate. Using the following http://api.bing.net/xml.aspx?AppId=appid&Query=nike&Sources=Phonebook&Latitude=39.9883699&Longitude=116.3309665&Radius=30.0&Phonebook.Count=10&Phonebook.Offset=30 I get multiple locations with the same latitude and longitude, and the rounding is off as well. The latitude and longitude will always end with either .x00001 or .0. The results from the pho:LocalSerpUrl http://www.bing.com/shenghuo/default.aspx?what=nike&where=&s_cid=ansPhBkYp01&ac=false&FORM=SOAPGN /pho:LocalSerpUrl Is right, but the results from the returned xml is off. Also it seems users outside of China can't hit that url and get the result. So I am wondering how I can contact bing and inquire about this problem

  Hi, I have a database table which is full-text indexed and i use the CONTAINS-function to perform a search-query on it. When I do: SELECT * FROM Plants WHERE CONTAINS(Plants.Description, '"Plant*" AND "one*"'); I get back all correct results matching a description with the words "Plant" and "one". Some plant are named like "Plant 1", "Plant 2" etc. and this is the problem. When i do this, i get no results: SELECT * FROM Plants WHERE CONTAINS(Plants.Description, '"Plant*" AND "1*"'); Anyone know why?

• JIRA JQL searching by date - is there a way of getting Today() (Date) instead of Now() (DateTime)

  I am trying to create some Issue Filters in JIRA based on CreateDate. The only date/time function I can find is Now() and searches relative to that, i.e. "-1d", "-4d" etc. The only problem with this is that Now() is time specific so there is no way of getting a particular day's created issues. i.e. Created < Now() AND Created >= "-1d" when run at 2pm today will show all issues created from 2pm yesterday to 2pm today when run at 9am tomorrow will show all issues created from 9am today to 9am tomorrow What I want is to be able to search for all issues created from 00:00 to 23:59 on any day. Is this possible?

• Best practice to display POI in iPhone's MapKit?

  Assuming I have a database of POI with their respective coordinates (longitude & latitude). What would be the "standard" way to display the POI as annotations around the user's current location? To elaborate: Given a zoom level, I guess I have to search through the database for all POI whose distance to the current location < a certain threshold, then create annotations for them. Or is there any smarter way? If the user zooms in/out, moves the map... I will need to redo the whole thing again? It seems that MapKit has a mechanism to cache/reuse annotations. Should I create a lot of them right away and let MapKit decides what to render when the visible region changes? I guess this would make the transition smoother, but also consumes more memory. What is your experience with this? Thanks.

These "words" can be pretty much any character e.g. "Bart Simpson, Ex-girlfriend, dude, radical" I'm trying to use javascript, jQuery, whatever i can to replace a word based on a search string with nothing (in essence, removing the word from the list). For example, the function is defined as such: function removeWord(myString, wordToReplace) {...}; So, passing the string listed above as myString and passing "dude" as wordToReplace would return the string "Bart Simpson, Ex-girlfriend, radical" Here's the line of code I was tinkering around with...please help me figure out what's wrong with it or some alternative (better) solution:$myString.val($myString.val().replace(/wordToReplace\, /, ""));

  After learning how to do MySQL Full-Text search, the recommended solution for multiple tables was OR MATCH and then do the other database call. You can see that in my query below. When I do this, it just gets stuck in a "busy" state, and I can't access the MySQL database. • Editing a 9gb .sql file

  Hi. I've got a "slightly" large sql script saved as a textfile. It totals in at 8.92gb, so it's a bit of a beast. I've got to do some search and replaces in this file(specifically, change all NOT NULL to NULL, so all fields are nullable) and then execute the darned thing. Does anyone have any suggestions for a text editor that would be capable of this? The other way that I can see to solve the problem is to write a program that reads a chunk, does a replace on the stuff I need, and then save it to a new file, but I'd rather use some standard way of doing this. It also does not solve the problem of opening the beast up in sql server management studio to execute the darned thing... Any ideas? Thanks, Eric

  I have an object Title : foo Summary : foo bar Body : this is a published story about a foo and a bar All three are set up as fields with stored=true. The user searches across my system for the word "foo" I would like to highlight foo in all three places. The user searches for the word foo in the title "title:foo" I only want to highlight foo within the title. When I added hl.requireFieldMatch=true and hl.usePhraseHighlighter=true as part of my query over to SOLR I am unable to get the highlighting in all three places when doing a generic non fielded search. Is there a way to get both scenarios to work? I had these two items turned off, but I am adding in some fielded portions of the query that the user does not see which only display Published items for instance. the problem is (foo AND status:published) is causing the word published in the body to highlight when the user only searched for the word "foo".

Is there any such Code Example (with lines search capability) to start from? I love C and C++ but any other readable code will probably work for me=)

Now If I run the following query: SELECT * FROM EVENTS WHERE MATCH (title) AGAINST ('second' IN BOOLEAN MODE); Nothing is returned... strange? Lastly, if I run the query: SELECT * FROM EVENTS WHERE MATCH (title) AGAINST ('second test' IN BOOLEAN MODE); I get back 2 rows; the ones containing 'test event' and 'Second test'. I appears that the word 'second' cannot be searched or needs to be escaped somehow. Am I missing something?

  hi, i am trying to form-post a sql file that consists on many INSERTS, eg. INSERT INTO `TABLE` VALUES ('abcdé', 2759); then i use re.search to parse it and extract the fields to put into my own datastore. The problem is that, although the file contains accented characters (see the e is a é), once uploaded it loses it and either errors or stores a bytestring representation of it. Heres what i am currently using (and I have tried loads of alternatives): form = cgi.FieldStorage() uFile = form['sql'] uSql = uFile.file.read() lineX = uSql.split("\n") # to get each line and so on. has anyone got a robust way of making this work? remember i am on appengine so access to some libraries is restricted/forbidden

  Hi, I have recently installed SQL Server 2008 Express Edition with Advanced Services on XP Pro but am having trouble getting full text searching to work with an restored database. The database was originally created in SQL Server 2005. When I call a stored proc that uses the full text index then I get the following error: Full-Text Search is not installed, or a full-text component cannot be loaded. This is my db version: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (RTM) - 10.0.1600.22 (Intel X86) Jul 9 2008 14:43:34 Copyright (c) 1988-2008 Microsoft Corporation Express Edition with Advanced Services on Windows NT 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 3) When I run: SELECT DATABASEPROPERTY('DBNAME','ISFULLTEXTENABLED') I get: 1 Also, when I look in the advanced properties for the db server in Management Studio I see both the "Default Full-Text Language" and "Full-Text Upgrade Option" properties. However, when I go to SQL Server Configuration Manager I don't see the "MSSQLFDLauncher" service. Does anyone know how to get this working? Cheers, Iain

• How to Look Up Email by Full Name in Active Directory?

  I want to search for a user's email by using Active Directory. Available is the user's full name (ex. "John Doe" for the email with an email "[email protected]"). From what I've searched, this comes close to what I'm looking to do -- except that the Filter is set to "SAMAccountName", which is not what I have. Unless I'm misunderstanding, I just need to pick the right attribute and toss in the full name name in the same way. Unfortunately, I don't know what this attribute is, apparently no one has had to ask about searching for information in this manner, and that is a pretty big list (msdn * microsoft * com/en-us/library/ms675090(v=VS.85) * aspx, stackoverflow didn't let me link 2 hyperlinks because I don't have 10 rep) of attributes. Does anyone know how to obtain the user's email address through an Active Directory lookup by using the user's full name?

• CONTAINSTABLE with wildcard works different in SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008?

  I have two same databases one on SQL Server 2005 and one on SQL Server 2008, it have same SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS Collation, and full text search catalogs have the same settings. These two databases contains table with same data, NTEXT string: "...kræve en forklaring fra miljøminister Connie Hedegaard.." My problem is: CONTAINSTABLE on SQL Server 2008 finds nothing if query is: select * from ContainsTable(SearchIndex_7, Content, '"miljø*"') ct but SQL Server 2005 works perfectly and finds necessary record. SQL Server 2008 finds necessary record if query is: select * from ContainsTable(SearchIndex_7, Content, '"milj*"') ct or select * from ContainsTable(SearchIndex_7, Content, '"miljøminister"') What can be reason for so strange behavior?

  I have a collection of objects, each with an int Frame property. Given an int, I want to find the object in the collection that has the closest Frame. Here is what I'm doing so far: public static void Search(int frameNumber) { var differences = (from rec in _records select new { FrameDiff = Math.Abs(rec.Frame - frameNumber), Record = rec }).OrderBy(x => x.FrameDiff); var closestRecord = differences.FirstOrDefault().Record; //continue work... } This is great and everything, except there are 200,000 items in my collection and I call this method very frequently. Is there a relatively easy, more efficient way to do this?
